Picture this: You're getting on a cruise ship in 4 hours, but the hotel you're staying at doesn't have a breakfast buffet. Besides, for the next (insert the duration of your cruise here) days you'll be eating at the buffet a least once a day. No need to start Buffeting it up before you step foot on the Lido deck. That's what brought us to 5th Ave Bagelry. Located less than 1/2 mile from our hotel, it was an easy walk down the surprisingly un-busy streets of Long Beach, CA at 9:00 on a Thursday morning. 5th Ave Bagelry has A LOT of varieties of bagels. To put a number to it, about 25 different varieties of bagels, all made fresh on site daily. Add to that, 8 different flavours of cream cheese and you've got nearly endless bagel-and-cream-cheese options. To be fair, you're not limited to bagel & cream cheese. They also offer breakfast bagel sandwiches and non-breakfast bagel sandwiches and a few specialty items. Even though it was 9:00 in the morning I was tempted to try a pizza bagel but I resisted. The siren song of a jalapeño bagel with jalapeño cream cheese wins out every time. (This is a proven statistic. Just ask me.) They also offer an endless variety of coffees in just about every possible fashion (latte, espresso, iced, iced blended). Smoothies, juices, and soft drinks round out a very impressive selection of offerings. The staff at 5th Ave Bagelry appeared to be very focused. While they weren't swamped when we visited, they did have a steady influx of customers. It's an order-at-the-counter-and-we'll-call-your-number-when-it's-ready arrangement which seems to work well for them. All food is delivered in a paper bag. Our food delivery was about 10 minutes and everything was hot and accurate. My iced vanilla latte was exactly the go-juice I needed to jump start embarkation day. My jalapeño bagel with jalapeño cream cheese? Chef's kiss. I love jalapeño bagels that present a little spicy heat. The jalapeño cream cheese managed to round out my "Jim loves spicy food for breakfast" life choices. [[HIGHLIGHT]]During our roughly 1/2 hour there I didn't see anyone come out from behind the counter to tidy up the dining room, which was needed. I'm assuming they had a pretty intense breakfast rush and just hadn't fully recovered yet, as one of the two trash bins was full[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Came to pine Ave for breakfast and saw this place and from all the signs outside decided to give it a try. I thought it was going to be pricy but no! It's so well priced. We wanted to try the simpler stuff on the menu. We got the just egg and sausage in a plain bagel and just egg and cheese and sausage on a Jalapeño bagel. I can't remember the last time we paid around $20 for a breakfast meal for two. They were both tasty but needed salt hot sauce and ketchup to be added. The best part is they have all this out for you to grab. Once we added it, it was so good. The portion size for the price is incredible. No way did I think I would pay 6.99 for a big bagel, a large piece of egg and 2 pieces of sausage. It was such a great price. Now I am so excited to come and try others. This made me wonder if their sweet bagels are different. They recommend the Asiago bagel so maybe I'll try that for the next savory option. Honestly I don't know when they make the bagels but we came around 11am, try coming earlier and maybe the bagels will be fresher. The spot is located in the heart of downtown Long Beach so find street parking which you can pay via their apps Passport Parking or find parking in one of their public parking structures where the first two hours are free. This place allows you to customize your own bagel. I came here craving an onion bagel with strawberry cream cheese, turkey, and tomato and honestly it was weak. My friend ordered one of their sandwich items on an everything bagel and both these bagels costed us $27 which is insane. It's been awhile since I bought a bagel at a shop like this before. I ordered the vietnamese iced coffee and the BEC sandwich on the asiago bagel. I was very excited to try this spot because of the good reviews, however, it was a HUGE letdown and waste of $20. The vietnamese coffee was SO BITTER. No kind of sweetener at all. Plus for $8 and i'm pretty sure this is just the packet kind, I'd rather go to Da Vien and get the authentic kind On to the bagel sandwich. I always order the asiago bagel because i love the flavor of the cheese. My complaint is that i had no idea their asiago bagel isnt even fully asiago. It's actually a Poppyseed asiago bagel. I hate poppyseeds, so if i would've known this prior to ordering online, I wouldn't have ordered it. You can't even taste the asiago in this bagel!! Very good bagels and yummy breakfast sandwiches. I strolled in one morning while I was hanging out on Pine for a parade. I hadn't had breakfast, and this was one of the closest places near to where my mom and I were standing. I ordered a bagel sandwich on an everything bagel. The contents were a veggie omelet which comes with cheese, spinach and mushrooms. I asked for no spinach. I accompanied this with their iced coffee, half sweet. It was all very delicious. Only complaint was that my breakfast sandwich was way too hot for way too long. It was hard to hold in my hands with it being wrapped in foil, and even harder to enjoy. Maybe ideal for pickup orders from food delivery drivers. Yes, I ordered through an app, but to pick it up myself. I've never heard of this place until today, first timer! I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a jalapeño bagel and it was very good. They had so many food options and bagel selections so take a look at their menu online before ordering. I ordered an iced vanilla latte as well. It wasn't too bad but they use the generic syrups from the grocery store so it wasn't that special. Maybe their blended drinks would be better. The cup was hot on the bottom when I grabbed it and as an ex-barista, this is a no no. However, I added some more creamer and it was drinkable after that. This location was absolutely amazing, walkable distance from many hotels around, including The Pike outlets. The service was so friendly and with genuine smiles. First the gal working the counter wasn't overly friendly and when I asked about getting a bagel with Vegan cream cheese she told me they don't have her today even tho it's on their site.
