First and foremost, the staff and Chef are wonderful! The food is so very good. You can tell the Chef has put his heart and soul into the menu. Btw, the Chef is new as of 2026 season.

The 5 of us came around 7pm on a Sunday and plenty of empty tables. It's attached to an inn and right off the freeway. There are a lot of specials and items that weren't on the menu that were only brought up when the ones we were interested in were out. I would ask them to see what they have available. Two orders of medium rare ribeye: this wasn't how I like my ribeye. It wasn't so tender or seasoned. It seemed interesting with the guacamole but it ended flat. The fries had crispy texture but was much too salty! It felt like a mistake. Bison burger: This was really tasty, and I'd get this again! I've only had bison a couple of time and it's usually lean, but this was juicy. The fries again were so salty. Alligator tacos: they were out of fish so they suggested this instead. First time having alligator and it was tender. My mom who was squeamish about it ended enjoying it a lot. We also had the Mariposa Margherita which was actually good with the bee pollen. We didn't specify well or not, and they gave us the premium tequila as default, so be mindful of that. I got the blonde ale and it was not bad but would opt for something else.

A cozy pitstop After a day of hiking, we stopped by here for some grub. The inside is tavern modern, warm n cozy. We were able to snag a seat by the window to witness some fresh snowfall. The food here is nothing mindblowing, but it hit the spot. I started off with the French onion soup and the salad. Salad was fresh with a good variety of veggies. Soup was a tad bland but I still enjoyed it. For the main course, I had the bison smash burger which was juicy with a jalapeño kick. The fries had a really good crisp. Service was excellent

I made reservations at this restaurant as we were staying here. The service was great. Our server was Alex for Alexandria. The ambience if you like stuffed deer, etc. it's great but if not not so much. The servers they do the drinks also and I had two old-fashioned that were excellent, and my husband had Gin on the rocks. He had a wedge salad and I had a salad that was local. He had the scallop appetizers, but he wasn't thrilled with the sauce. I had chicken marsala that was totally different than I've ever had but it was good. Definitely if I lived nearby, I would be eating here again.

10 stars!!! We came up here on vacation to go to Yosemite and we stayed and ate here our first night, absolutely amazing. Staff was friendly and welcoming and the food made us want to come back nightly. I enjoyed the surf and turf special but didn't get a photo, dad had the elk and hubby had the cheeseburger. Everything was delicious, mine came with asparagus and broccoli which I could have eaten a plate of by themselves! Steak was cooked perfectly and very tender and their mashed potatoes had us asking what the secret was, we definitely look forward to visiting again. Ambience is very cozy and rustic, make it very easy to hang out all evening enjoying the food, drinks and view.

My husband and I went to dinner here last night during their happy hour which is between 4-6pm. We started with the Lobster Spinach dip with homemade tortilla chips !!! I wish I would of taken a pic of it, it was sooooo good !!!! Then I ordered the Shrimp Tortellini which was excellent, it came with brocollini and asparagus. Now my husband got the Ostrich and wow, it was amazing!!!! It was tender and cooked perfect and the sauce over it was really good. It came with polenta. I've been here a few times and it never disappoints. Alex served us and made our cocktails and she was so sweet, super attentive, and just a really cool person we will definitely be back and we highly recommend.

Aroma Tavern, Fish Camp: 2024 Aug 24 (4 of 5) Fish Camp is on CSR-41, a gateway to Yosemite Park South Gate. Fish Camp's growth was driven by the logging industry. During the Prohibition years, bootleggers ran booze out of Fish Camp. Along CSR-41 sits Narrow Gauge Inn. Originally built by Swedish immigrants, the inn sits in a quaint peaceful place amid the forest. There have been several changes to the ownership of the inn and the restaurant. The latest is named Aroma Tavern. Our orders: Small Bites: Fried Devil Eggs (pickled shallots, mustard aioli, micro greens). I quite enjoyed the unusual delivery of this dish. I thought the warmed eggs had plenty of umami and the onions complimented the dish. The presentation was quite nice too. There were three pieces of hard-boiled eggs. What happened to the second half? I think the price is steep, even though we received a Happy Hour discount, but the taste deserves high praise. (5 of 5) From the Garden: Aroma Wedge Salad (bacon, grilled corn, tomato, avocado, tortillas, smoked egg, blue cheese). This is one of the tastier Wedge Salad I've had. The lettuce tasted fresh, the salad is not drowning in dressing, and just the right amount of everything else. (5 of 5) Entree: Juniper Encrusted Rack of Lamb (roasted garlic whipped potatoes, grilled asparagus, mint pesto). The presentation was picture-perfect, but the meat looked bloody. I pressed my finger on the meat, and it was cold. Someone had forgotten to sear this. We sent this back for a refry. The returned meat lacked seasoning. I'm sensitive to salty foods, but had to shake salt onto the meat. Other than the bland meat, the asparagus was cooked through, but still maintaining the crunch of this beautiful vegetable. The mint pesto gravy was good and the potatoes didn't overpower the main. Overall, this could have been a delicious meal. Instead, I could only give this a 3. (3 of 5) Entree: Mary's Chicken pot Pie (chicken breast, mirepoix, english peas, yukon potato, summer thyme gravy, puff pastry). I had one bite of this and the overwhelming heat of pepper killed everything else. The dish lacked salt. We thought more butter was needed in the roux. The carrots were near raw. The entire dish lacked depth. (2.5 of 5) Server: Kevin N was our server for the evening. We thought Kevin was efficient and friendly. (4 of 5) Atmosphere: This is an interesting eatery. We thought the decorations on the wall was over-the-top, but they fit the feel of this place. The tables were spaced apart with care, and the cutlery and glasses were clean. (4 of 5) Location: Easy to find. Plenty of parking. (5 of 5)

We arrived and there was a sign at the hostess desk stating that they were very short staffed so please be patient. We sat at the bar. We were greeted by Alex who it turns out was running the entire front of the house. She was not only pleasant, but made some beautiful drinks. She maintained her composure over what would be in my opinion a very stressful situation. We enjoyed the food. The menu is limited, but the quality was there. I would recommend highly!

While walking in, I thought to myself "it's gorgeous, why didn't we stay here again?" and then remembered because all of their low ratings as a hotel are due to poor service. The receptionist at the entrance is very bleh (didn't even greet us, she just looked at us so we said hello first ). We sat down and ordered. We were the only customers. The girl who took our order was nice enough but lacked professionalism. She just seemed out of it. She didn't write down our order, but a few minutes later came back saying "wait what did you for your entree again?". I'm glad she double checked, but for the price of the food and aesthetic of the restaurant, I expected better service. I ordered the wagyu burger but wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked - I assume they only cook it well-done because that's how it came. It didn't have the juicy buttery flavor of Wagyu, or really any flavor at all. The bread was good. The fries are phenomenal and I liked that more than my burger Carrots & whipped ricotta was good but not great - very flat flavor profile of ricotta, honey, and carrots. I think this dish could've been better with some acidity like a bit of lemon on the side. The chicken pesto penne pasta was good, but still flat. It would be better with cherry tomatoes or something to give it depth. The pasta was cooked perfectly Despite the chicken being absolutely tiny (approx 4"), it was juicy. Wish there was more of it I didn't care for the butternut squash soup but my husband liked it. It had good flavor but was very thin. Overall the place is pretty, but I wouldn't return as the food was very forgettable. It's a shame that the best thing was the side of fries. I'm giving a 4 due to the food tasting clean/quality.

Arrived early for this visit around 4:30pm to beat the dinner crowd. Chose to be seated in the main dining area which was still empty with only a couple tables taken. We decided to try Oakhurst Grill because it was one of the only places still open when we rolled into town. (Places close early here) Service- 2.5/5: Both times I've been here the waitresses have been polite and somewhat attentive. We were seated within 20 mins but had another 15min wait to actually place our order. It seemed like it took awhile to just get started with drinks. They do a high volume here with a large staff so the service is likely inconsistent. Food quality: 3/5 My burger was actually very good, with 1/2lb of quality beef. I would get it again. I've had the chicken Alfredo which was ok, but nothing extraordinary. Steak tips for an appetizer were ok and the crab cakes were flavorful. My vegan friend had the Al Fresco (Tomato, artichoke heart, Mediterranean olive blend, garlic, onion, spinach and mushrooms, balsamic vinegar, served over penne pasta with a side of ciabatta bread.) He barely touched it because it just didn't taste good. Everyone at the table tried it and agreed we wouldn't recommend it. The cheesecake "bites" for dessert is more like a slice of previously frozen cheesecake cut into 2 pieces, with a drizzle of syrup on top. Atmosphere- 4/5: The interior is dated but had a rustic vibe that fits the environment. The outdoor seating has a nice view but the exterior is rather narrow for the size of the tables. Value- 3/5: Pricing is higher but what I would expect near a national park. The potions were generous. Overall- 3/5: I would eat here again if I was in the area but wouldn't go out of my way to. It is more geared toward tourists.

That is exactly what happened during my recent dinner at Elderberry House. I visited with a group of four, and between us, we had two gluten-free diners and one vegetarian. After a quick heads-up the day before, the restaurant handled our needs with total ease. We went for the five-course tasting menu, and it was incredible from start to finish. We kicked things off with one of the best oysters I have ever had, followed by a beautiful tuna presentation. The kitchen even looked out for our gluten-free friends with a special version of their herbal-butter focaccia that was actually delicious. By the time the main courses arrived, I honestly could not decide if I liked my beef or my friend's snap pea risotto better; every single bite was pure perfection. The cocktails were another high point. My first drink was great, but after chatting with our server, Jordan, I decided to try the Last Word. It featured that hard-to-find green chartreuse, and I am a little annoyed to report that I have a new favorite cocktail that requires such a rare ingredient. The service is what really made the night so special. Jordan was so charismatic and helpful, making sure we were perfectly taken care of all evening. He was so good that I almost worried a second visit would not be the same without him, though the rest of the staff quickly put that fear to rest. Abby was so friendly and responsible for a truly unique but perfect-for-the-vibe playlist, and Chris the mixologist even stopped by to geek out about gin and cocktails with us. From the genuine care for our food sensitivities to the clever touch of the iPad check-in hidden in an elegant binder, it was a night for the books. I normally am picky with lemon desserts, but their lemon curd was also perfect - not too sweet and not too sour while still maintaining that fresh flavor. My biggest regret of our visit is not booking a room at their inn. We spent a couple of hours here and immediately felt right at home. I hope to come back one day for the full inn experience.

I always opt to sit outside where I can basque in the mountain sunshine while taking in the scenery. There's always a cat or two traipsing about the establishment that offers entertainment to my pooch. (Yes, they're dog-friendly!) The food is absolutely divine with I believe most of the items being made in house & all ingredients are locally sourced with the freshest ingredients. Idle Hour is a stop you definitely want to make whether passing through on your way to Yosemite or if you're a local, make no mistake and try this place out!

What an amazing find while we are staying in Mariposa. We went to the Giant Sequoia's and on our…read moreway we stopped at this "pre" planned Yelp spot. Parking is pretty easy. They have overflow towards the left when you drive up the incline. You wait to be seated. We were offered an inside table but requested a patio table instead. They accommodated us but it took an additional 10-15 minutes. It was WORTH the wait. The patio is nicely shaded and offers a better experience than say..... Denny's. I ordered their "fantastic" chicken fried steak, 2 eggs over easy, 2 pancakes, and country potatoes. Everything was great! Our server was an awesom dude. You will know it's him when he addresses you as "Amigo." Love you man! Coffee was good and strong and they offered shelf stable 1/2 & 1/2. They have Tobasco, Cholulu, and I believe he said Tapatio. I went with the Cholulu and it was an awesome addition to the CFS. We loved this place. It fueled us up for the grueling hike we did. 5* !!!!! So glad I scoped this place out on Yelp before our trip.

Great lunch option after doing Zephyr white water rafting!…read more I ate here with my husband for lunch on a Friday around 12:30 PM. Parking was easy to find, but may be challenging if you're not staying at the connected Yosemite Bug Inn and if it's busy. We ordered at the counter and were given a metal number card. The gentleman at the counter was friendly and patient with us as we decided what to order. We enjoyed coconut water and kombucha for our drinks. We didn't wait long for our food to arrive at our table outside. This is what we ordered: * Chocolate cream pie - it was chocolatey with a thin shortbread crust. Just the right amount of sweet for us. * Chipotle chicken quesadilla - I tasted a small piece and thought it was flavorful. They put a generous amount of cheese. * Bombay sandwich - Warm vegetarian sandwich with potatoes and other veg with what tasted like a pesto or vinegar based sauce. The bread was crisp and the sandwich was split in half. I enjoyed it. After tax and tip, we paid a total of $49.93. No pics this time since we were hungry :) We both enjoyed our meal overall and felt like the portions were big and satisfying. I would come back here again on another Yosemite trip!

My husband had the American breakfast one morning and the huevos rancheros the next (no photo of that one). I tried both the Farmer's Breakfast and the American breakfast. They definitely know how to cook their eggs! For dinner, my husband ordered the steak, which could've used a bit more seasoning, while I had the vegan noodle bowl. Both meals came in generous portions. We also shared two beers and an apple pie for dessert, which was absolutely delicious. The service was fine, nothing over the top, but consistent. We noticed it was often the same staff working multiple days. The ambiance was really nice, with a mix of travelers and foreigners since the resort also functions as a hostel. Despite that, the vibe was always calm and welcoming, we never saw a rowdy crowd. Having this café just steps away from our room was such a convenience.
