I moved to the Harrisburg area a little over a year ago so I'm still trying to find my way around sometimes. One thing we had plenty of when I lived in South Carolina was wing joints. My friends and I had several places we used to eat at a lot. Up here, good places to eat buffalo wings are few and far between. Today, I found the most awesome wing place I've ever eaten at in Pennsylvania. It's called Arooga's. They have over 30 different wing sauces. Everything from the standard mild, medium, hot and instant death to more exotic flavors like Red Thai and General Tso's. I didn't think my stomach could take Hot today, so I ordered Medium. Those big juicy meaty wings were had plenty of spicy goodness. The were served over a basketful of what appeared to be fresh cut fries. Since I was eating alone, I appreciated the fact they had a small TV at every table that you could tune to your favorite channel. Best lunch I've had in a long time! read more

Arooga's is a great place to go for watching games or just to have a bit to eat. The food is always good but the service is sometimes poor. If you lucky to get a waitress that's a vet your in good shape. But get a new one, and it's going to be a long visit. The food is a good mix of the usual sports bar fare. They also have some great Arooga's originals. Wings are the specialty with plenty of different sauces to satisfy every taste. First trip here and the last. Upon walking in, there were three hostesses who just really stood there and really didn't greet us. We ended sitting at bar and the bartender explained a lot of drafts were current out of commission which wasn't a big deal as they still had plenty to offer in draft. She was quick to bring us a menu and water and then that was it....she seemed to just pace back and forth and so busy work with never coming back to us to take order or bring beer. Waiting 10 minutes while someone walks past you the whole time just is bad business. Place seemed to have a great menu but for the amount of staff working versus the amount of customers, this place needs some changes. Another Americanish Sports Bar that I don't hate? What's going on here! Kokomo's is central PA's go-to place for wings and beer, but they also have a well stocked bar of tasty liquors. Wednesday nights are insane - DJ and all. Ladies - the place is like 80% male. Unfortunately only about 2% of them are attractive. But if you do manage to find the rare hottie - hang on to him, as the 20% of HOS (and like Jay-Z, I don't mean hos in the sense of having a .... They're really HOS!) will be grillin you like crazy. Interesting restaurant I liked the seats outside that were on the sidewalk outside. Service was okay they didn't seem very interested in working. So we decided to just get a snack there and go back for room service. But we got the funnel fries which were really excellent. I wish we had them in Philly. Good food and drinks. Since I love football and UFC this is obviously the perfect place for me and the hubby. The only issue I have is that people brought their kids into the bar area.. okay first of all I understand that it is also a food joint but keep the kids over there.. at the table.. I like the sports bar atmosphere (lots of TVs, good junk food, great drinks, friendly people) which is why I like this place and keep going back. Its also really close to where my mom lives, so its convenient. Its mostly men with a sprinkling of 20-30ish women, and 95% of the staff are skinny females wearing referee outfits. Cute idea with the uniforms. What I dont like about this place is the service. The staff is friendly dont get me wrong, but everytime I go there, I end up getting abandoned by my waitress for unknown amounts of time. It also takes at least 10-15 minutes just to order a beer. While I'm not a huge fan of Arooga's in general because the service is the worst, and their food is sub par, hadn't been to this location so I thought I'd give it a try. Having said that, the waitress we had was fantastic! We ordered the steamed clams and the steamed shrimp. The shrimp were a nice size and very tasty. The mussels were mussels, but tasty as well.... Except there were about 10 of them, about half of our order, that didn't open! We said something to the waitress and being very accommodating, she took the unopened mussels back to the kitchen. They shouldn't have been served to us in the first place! She returned, apologizing, and said they were going to make us more... Long story short, she then brought us our leftover mussels, except the shells had been busted open and they were shriveled beyond recognition... Yea, we weren't eating these. This is your typical wings, beer and bar food kind of joint. Nothing fancy. Loud and obnoxious. Mediocre service. But LOTS of plasma screen TVs in every direction showing all the nightly sports events. It's a fun casual place to hang out with a group of friends while catching the big game. As for the wings.....they're aiiiiight. If you aren't that into super scary spicy hot wings...I recommend the Carolina Sweet & Tangy! If you're up for the challenge, go for the Ghost Face Killa....however, I think they stopped giving away free t-shirts for completing the "challenge". Went there last evening for supper. We were experiencing heavy thunderstorms and the power went out...okay no problem, you can't help mother nature! But sitting around waiting for ANY information at all in the dark for 40 minutes? The managers didn't know what to do and weren't communicating with their staff, who were ignoring their customers to check their phones and text. After 20 minutes, I said something to our waitress who said she'd be right back with an update..when she finally came back another 20 minutes later to let us know that their computer system is down and they're working on getting it back up. Really? Your computer system is down, I could have never guessed, the power is out! Give me an update, "Sorry folks, the power is out, we are working as quickly as possible to resolve the issue, please be patient and we will update you shortly." That's all I needed/wanted to hear. Hell perhaps through in a free round of beer or 5% off your check, but instead nothing. There was still food coming out of the kitchen (crab legs I believe) but they never told us what was going on, how long to wait, and they had their wait staff tabulating checks on their cell phones...this is when it's time to close. Needless to say, I walked out at the 40 minute mark. When they asked me to leave my credit card information behind and I refused, they got snippy with me. I have been to this Arooga's several times, and will not be returning again after tonight and previous experiences. In my opinion, the service is HORRIBLE, the food is mediocre and over-priced (charging extra for everything, even a side of ranch), and the ambience isn't even worth it. I want to love this place, I really do, but service and food is inconsistent. We've been here 7-8 times over the last year, the food seems to be better when its slammed and the service worse. On the flip side, we went tonight, and it was dead... Wings appeared to have sat for a few minutes waiting on other food items, and lettuce in a wrap was hot (indicating it had either sat, or was reheated), but server was great. Can't figure it out... My partner and I just flew in from S. Florida, and were looking for a good place to eat. This place had great reviews on google and other sites we checked, so we came here. Upon entering, the entire first room of the restaurant was empty (with just one dirty table). We walk up towards the bar, and are just stared at. We've never been here before, so didn't know what to do. Bartenders hardly wanted to speak with us, and so we kept walking and were eventually sat outside. We were ignored for about 15 minutes because the servers each thought the other had already attended us. Finally, we got to order some drinks (and were ID'd) and were waiting for the appetizer. The manager came up to us and asked to see our ID's again. Confused, we hand them to her. She looks at our ID's closely, looks at me, and tells me her bartender recognizes me and that I'm NOT 21. I was in SHOCK. First of all, I'm 22. Secondly, I know NO one in this area, and third, she was basically suggesting I had a fake ID. She did not apologize for this whatsoever. Not to mention... the food was bland, chicken over cooked, sliders were dry, perogies were just a mash potato ball basically, and the best part of it was the mozzarella sticks. 10/10 would never recommend this place. So my friend and I went out for drinks the other day and decided to go to Arooga's. We were seated outside, which was fine because it was a beautiful day! Our waitress came right to us and took our drink order, but when she brought our drinks my friend noticed there was a fly in her drink. We figured it is outside so that happens and she picked it out. A few minutes later we saw ANOTHER dead fly in the bottom in the glass! So we called the waitress over and asked for another one and she had a really bad attitude. She brought out the same drink, but in a different container with a lid. She walked away without saying anything, and we immediately noticed another two flies in her new drink. We called her over and just asked to have the drink taken off the check, and the check so we could just leave. She took a solid 20 minutes to bring us our check. NEVER going to this Arooga's again! The one in Hummelstown is always amazing, but this one needs some serious work. read more

Had lunch here yesterday and I must say the food, and service could be better. I ordered a cheese steak with onion rings and first thing that happens is that I receive the wrong order. My order was similar to another order at the time so that's ok, and the bartender quickly fixed the error once she figured out the situation. I actually didn't realize at first the mistake until after the bartender had walked away and I wish I could of kept the fries because they were way better than the onion rings. Also, the cheese steak just sucked. Had way better ones at many pizzerias so I consider it a waste of money at places like Arooga's. Especially because they're not cheep. I guess I should of figured, but its just the hoagie was being advertised clear across the top of the sandwich section of the menu. The general Tso's chicken and rice wrap stinks too so just avoid that wrong mixture of flavor. Not really sure what to ever order here anyway because the server just gives me a menu and takes my order every time. Beer was cold. That's about as good as it got. read more

They have Wing Night every Wednesday, and it can get pretty packed with a lot of high school and college kids taking advantage of the special There are literally TV everywhere. Most tables have their own personal TV, as well as dozens and dozens of flat screens along the walls. A great place to come to watch a game. They get big crowds for UFC fight nights. Menu is very extensive beyond the wings. Burgers, pizza, stromboli. Chances are, if you're craving it, they'll have it. Would definitely recommend going to Arooga's! read more

Not to be seated at . And crowed our a table beside them . As I was there before this group cone In. And the 3 guys ant the table beside them. Then they started to get served before me. As you can see by he timeline, his place has gone from once decent when they first opened to poor to even below poor. Food is hit and miss at best (and no, their wings are NOT their strong suit) to just plane piss poor. Couple that with some of the worst service of any sports bar (let alone dining establishment) and you get this one star. The bar comsistantly smells of bleach, stale liquor and God knows what else. If they put have the effort into the operation that they did setting up a TV on every square inch of available wall space, they might have scored better. I really wanted to like this place. I moved out here a few months ago and had been wanting to try it since i first drove by one. My first experience was not great by any means, and it was probably my last. It was either the server's second day on the job or she just didn't care whether or not she actually did her job. Took her forever to come by the table to get orders. We had barely started eating our appetizers when our actual dinner order showed up. So the table was cluttered with plates and things got cold while we tried to eat it all. One of the apps we got was the beer pretzels and cheese, though the pretzels tasted much more like pizza dough than they did pretzels, and the cheese was awful. The crab dip was the saving grace of everything we ordered, it was really good. Two people in our party ordered their wings Chicago style, with the fries underneath the wings, and neither received what they ordered. The bun my burger was on was ice cold, there was entirely too much pepper relish, and the burger itself didn't taste like anything. If it weren't for the toppings there would have been no flavor at all. Very disappointed, I was really looking forward to eating here. read more

We weren't offered anything for having to drive all the way back again. How hard is it to look at an order and check off each item as it is placed in a bag? How hard is it to apologize to a customer? Arooga's is, quite literally, the worst restaurant I've ever been to. I reluctantly went to the Linglestown Road location yesterday because my friend and I wanted to watch March Madness. The service was terrible. When we finally placed our orders for Cheeseburgers, they were dry and tasteless. My friend requested medium and I asked for medium well...both were very well done. I got a side of onion rings and there were 4 of them, each very small. My friend order loaded fries but was given regular fries. We waited 5-10 more minutes until the waitress returned and brought loaded fries. After we choked down the burgers and sides, we ordered mild wings because we were still hungry. They tasted alright but today I am suffering from severe diarrhea. Unfortunately, so is my friend. read more

The food is mediocre and overpriced and I have had lousy service here for the last time. Worst anywhere the last time. My server brought me two incorrect soup orders before the correct one (one of them being mac n cheese rather than a soup). A complete ditz who didn't seem to have been trained at all. I will admit I am not a big fan of 'Sports' bars - the kind with every kind of Malternative beverage and 30 tv's with all of them on different stations. I prefer more of a pub atmosphere personally. I came in after work and had a pint and ordered some wings - citrus chipotle. The wings were about a buck a peice so not really a bargain and were covered in a sauce that was like it was drenched in honey - so sweet. It had the flavor that was advertized but the taste was at odds with the stickiness -they didn't offer any wet wipes either!. I thought the beer was fresh and the service so-so. I've been to this location at least 6 times and it's always poor service. I am always treated as though they're doing me a favor at the bar seating.
