I went to Ocean Crab and I will say this--the owner is very nasty…read more There's a little skinny Chinese guy (the owner) who acts like no mistakes can be made and he is NOT a man of his word. I ordered food and what I asked for was not even in my order. So I called to let them know. He told me when I come back I could get another plate or something else and I wouldn't have to pay, especially since I live far. When I got there, his whole attitude switched. He got aggressive and said, "why would I tell you that? nothing is free." I didn't even get to eat my food. Now let's talk about the atmosphere. Ever since they started playing loud music in there, it's just not the same. It's NOT kid-friendly at all. It's supposed to be a restaurant, but the mixed vibe is off. It turns into something else at night and honestly, it doesn't feel safe. If you go later when it's crowded, just know what you're walking into. Don't look at nobody wrong, don't drink too heavy, don't bump into anyone--because it can turn into a fight real quick. The ONLY positive thing I will say is Sandra the bartender--A+. If you do go, go to her. She's really good at what she does. But overall, the service, the attitude, and the environment is not it for me.

On an impromptu trip to Richmond we wanted to find a good brunch spot…read more While talking to my honey pot he said Croaker's Spot was it! He's a foodie, so say less! In your tastebuds I trust. Thankfully we got there early before the Sunday crowd came in and got a booth. Service was good but weird at times with the bar tender being super catty. It appeared she was not in the spirit of team work which made our visit a little uncomfortable. We asked for a cup of ice on the way out and even though the bartender had ice to give she wanted our waitress to get it from the back, it was the ODDEST interaction. The manager ended up helping out but I'm not sure why any restaurant would employ any person who was like that. Ew! Everyone else was all smiles and fantastic! Let's get into it! Oyster Rockefeller- OMG these have to be one of the BEST ones I've ever had in my life! Sooooo GOOD! Like good, good! Buffalo Shrimp - Good! Croakers Brunch Special was okay! Waffle was extremely sweet! Grits were thick, I was not a fan. Overall, I'd come back this food has SOUL! And someone's daddy is making those plates in the back with love! Perfect recommendation and a must do when in Richmond. No frills but good food! Sunday best is okay as most people looked real cute! Okay cute patrons!

BRING YOUR WALLETS AND STRETCHY PANTS!…read more We went as a corporate outing group of 5. The front door is a little tight cause as a popular spot there's a bunch of foot traffic. The lady at the front door was a bit staticky but she got us sat fairly quickly so we could deal with that. Vibes are all wooden, but not creaky. Could be a cool date spot, it was very casual so we were able to be a bit boisterous. Good place to chat and blend in. Service was great and friendly and attentive. The waitress we had always made sure our cups were full and we had napkins and what we needed. We didn't get any alcohol, I got an Arnold Palmer, the wife got a midtown. They were both pretty good, I don't know what the difference was but they slapped. Free refills on sweet tea was dope too! The food came out pretty fast for the portions and quality. The wings are a must get, get the large and if you don't finish air fry them back home (reheat is good) (I would get sauce on the side, we did buffalo). We got like a desert style cornbread with syrup and powdered sugar, not normally my jams but totally delicious (my coworker ordered, I am not into sweets; still 10/10). I had 2 buffalo shrimp and they were also good, I didn't get a flick but that's a safe pick. The mains are pricey (typical soul food prices) but fire!!! Portions were good but the quality of goods and meat are awesome. I eat at a lot of places, the quality was really high here so I think the price tag was fair. My wife got the catfish, I got the stuffed salmon. For our sides we got the greens, cabbage, and the Mac & cheese. I had a couple of things I personally like that I feel would have enhanced the meal but the overall outlook is that this is the place to go. The greens were salty as heck and didn't have like a turkey neck or smoked anything in it, could be a regional preference but that was missing for me. The cabbage was also cooked really well and didn't require much but had no sparkle. Great texture but the flavor wasn't there, I'm also Caribbean so maybe what I like is different, the crunch with a kick would have gone far and maybe some salt from the greens in there. The Mac and cheese was good, I like a creamier one but this will suffice tbh. Overall I'm going to give them a 8.9/10. I could have gotten the wrong things or went on an off day but they certainly delivered and the service was GREAT. I would deff revisit, it's got a lot of charm and personality. The staff were amicable and the bathrooms were clean. I would recommend this spot if you're visiting Richmond!

OMG!!! Fabulous…read moreexperience with happy hour. I'm not sure whether to start with the oyster review or the beer or the service!!! All were an A+!! Our daughter has been trying to get us to switch up our Friday evening routine, so we ventured out to Bolo's on hull street. The place is very nicely refurbished and the vibe was welcoming. They were setting up for karaoke as we left and the place was filling up. We had oysters, truffle fries and hush puppies. Next time I'd like to try the shrimp and grits or fish and chips. The beer selection was eclectic and we tried a flight before settling on our choices. I will definitely be back!

What a horrible experience. It was very unfortunate. My friends live in the area and were raving…read moreabout this place. However, we were all disappointed. As soon as we walked in we thought it was going to be a great experience. We were greeted by the friendly hostess. Then our waiter came over and took our orders. There were 6 of us. 2 of our friends were already seated 15 min prior to our arrival and ordered their food and drinks. However, by the time we ordered our items they still were waiting on theirs. We ordered drinks and simple meals such as chicken tenders and fries. We waited 45 min for our drinks and an hour for our food. Then when we received the food it came out in carry out containers and was cold. We told the manager and she finally brought out our hot food. The chicken tenders were well seasoned but because of the wait we did not enjoy our food. The drinks were weak and we tasted absolutely no alcohol. We asked for the manager and waited for her for 20 min. She never came to the table and the waiter ended up removing the food from our bill and just charged us for the drinks. The ambiance was decent. It was a large space but relatively empty. They had loud music coming from the roof top. We saw a huge roach coming out of the door of the restaurant as well. Unfortunately, I won't return. I hope that they will improve on their service substantially.
