I go to Phoenicia all the time but I've never been to the coffee shop. The food menu looks amazing but today I decided to stick with just coffee. They're menu is pretty basic but they had seasonal drinks menu so I decided to get the apple pie chai latte. It was delicious but I wish the chai was stronger. My dad got a large coffee with dark chocolate and my sister got the pumpkin spice latte. The pumpkin spiced latte has to be one of the best pumpkin spiced lattes I've ever had. I paid $15 for all 3 which is pretty cheap compared to other coffee shops. The place is very spacious but cozy. It was also very clean and nicely decorated. I could see myself working here one day. Authentic local spot for great Mediterranean food at a good value. Food and vibe feels pretty local and homey! I ordered a lamb shawarma wrap and a Turkish latte. Portions are huge! I liked the seasoning on the lamb and the sauces in the pita. Would've preferred if the lamb and pita were hotter, but the flavor was still great. My family likes this place but I've been disappointed the last few times. The iced tea, at $3.79, is watered down. The tilapia has more peppers on the sauce than I can count. The rice pilaf and tabbouli were good. The hummus is not my cup of tea. Unless you ask for pita bread for the hummus, you won't automatically get it. My mom was disappointed with her lentil soup. I love their chicken shawarmas here and always buy them for my friends and family while I'm here. We've been coming for well over the last decade, but I'm not sure why it's always such a big deal though when it comes to the chips and garlic sauce that come with it as of late. When we guy one sandwich, it comes with a bag of pita chips and two garlic sauces, however, if we buy 5 or more shawarma's they limit us on 3 bags of chips for some reason. I tell them we are bagging them to individual folks, but there seems to be no budging. Then I've even offered to buy the bag of chips so everyone can have their own bag but they won't well it to me either citing we have to buy their large bag. Love coming to Arpi's. They are owned by Phoenicia and have great quality and freshness. We got shawarma wrap plates that come with two sides. The tabbouleh was super fresh and loved the potato salad. Good prices we were full and satisfied. The bathroom was a little dirty though and tables weren't being cleaned too often. Arpi's is worth the hype in terms of price, high quality of ingredients, strong drinks, and welcoming atmosphere. Immediately walking in and seeing the counter, you know you're about to get a true Mediterranean meal. I've only ever gotten the shawarma plates, and the meals are always very tender and full of flavor. The hummus is a hit too. I'm really disappointed with the inconsistent hours at Phoenicia Specialty Foods. Their website and Google listing clearly say they close at 9 PM, but I've shown up multiple times between 8:20 and 8:30 PM and they were already closed. I even called ahead once just to double-check and was told they do close at 9 -- but when I got there, doors were locked and the place was shut down. If you're going to post closing hours, stick to them. I used to love coming here for late evening pickups, but now it feels like a waste of time and gas. Wow! Phoenicia is an amazing spot. I grew up in alief and one of the founders kiddos was in a lot of my classes. He randomly happened to be around when we stopped by on a weekday and was super nice! LOVE supporting local spots and the food is amazing to boot. His mom (one of the founders) was actually working in the kitchen when we arrived and was still making sure all the food was on point. We got the lamb gyro, hummus, falafel, lentil rice, and the backed fish special. ALL the items were amazing. The lamb gyro was my favorite as it's stuffed with plenty of meat and the sauce it came with is delicious. When I arrived I wasn't greeted. Mind you I have never been here prior and was a little overwhelmed by choices and what was included from what the menu stated. A lady took our order and I ordered the Pilaf with shawarma and the other person with me ordered the chicken wrap shawarma. I asked for sides because I wanted to make them a "plate", which states on their menu above when ordering. The lady serving us said it's not included and we would be charged extra for each side. She then walks away from us and we were left standing there confused. Another coworker of hers says, "can I help you" and I explained that another lady was helping us and walked away. I was very confused as to why she walked away while taking our order. I found it quite rude. In the end she did not ring us up and the lady that was making coffee type drinks ended ringing us up for our meals. I would like to give this lady the benefit of the doubt, but when in the customer service industry it's beneficial to be at least polite to customers. This was the first place I ever had a shawarma, and it truly changed my life forever! Haha, all jokes aside, it's seriously so good. You can never go wrong with any of their shawarmas, but my personal favorite is the lamb and beef. The chicken one is fantastic, too, especially since they add fries right into it! I also can't get enough of the roasted cauliflower and fries--they have this lemony tang that pairs perfectly with feta cheese, making them absolutely addictive. And don't forget to get the hummus and garlic sauce with some warm pita bread; it's a must! If you have room, the gelato and crème brûlée are to die for--thank me later! The place has plenty of table space, and there's even a drive-thru for added convenience. Honestly, writing this review is making me hungry all over again! Terrible experience in an restaurant. My order was forgotten about and I only received my food after checking on it checking with the cashier after 15 minutes. I guess my Shawarma was left on the press the whole time because when I got home home the paper was burned into the pita making it inedible. Had I not left because the food took so long I would have gotten a refund. Very disappointing, they used to be better than this. Bad service and inedible food, not a good day. read more

I'm a Kurdish Iranian who live 5 hours south of Houston. We travel to Houston often as family. On each single trip we make a stop at Phoenicia to buy our necessary items that we can not find in South Texas. We also always have a meal while we're there. The food is great at an affordable price. You literally find anything you need in Phoenicia. The last time when my wife and I were sitting at our table waiting for our food a gentleman who was sitting alone next to our table started a conversation with us. He was very gracious and polite. We exchanged names and we told him that we come from out of town. After a few exchanged back and forth I asked him what does he do, he replied that he's a businessman. I asked him what type of business. He pointed to the floor. He was the founder and owner of Phoenicia. Zohran, showed us a framed picture of himself placed on top of the pastry dept. It was a picture of him when he was 12 years old in his dad's store in Lebanon. He was kind enough to invite us for a tour of his store and even took us upstairs showing us all the departments that the products are prepared. In each step of the way we noticed that he really cared about his employees asking them how their families were. It was obvious that they love their employer as well. Delicious food. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate which came with hummus and cucumber salad. Their cucumber salad is amazing. I also ordered a side of fried cauliflower. The garlic sauce that came with the food was delicious. Seriously I put it everything. The shawarma was big enough that I was full after just eating half of it.
