    Beef kubideh
    Ellen K.

I might like the complimentary pita bread more than the olive garden garlic sticks and texas roadhouse bread rolls, and that is truly saying a lot! I would highly recommend ordering a hummus for the table and using it as a dip for the pita. For my main, I went with the beef kubideh, and it did not disappoint. Perfectly seasoned and grilled with that classic char you want from a great kubideh. My friend ordered the lamb shank. The meat was falling clean off the bone, tender in the way that only comes from low-and-slow cooking. If you're looking for authentic Persian flavors in a warm, welcoming atmosphere, highly recommend Kasra!

First time at this location and I had forgotten how good they are! The yogurt with beets was excellent. All the proteins were juicy and perfectly cooked. I love basmati rice and we had 3 tasty flavors. A sweet and flaky pistachio baklava to finish. Large dining room with a view of the kitchen. Enclosed patio of sorts that can be closed off (for parties?). Restroom is pretty nice and well maintained. All manner of paid parking available, a few free street spots.

Went here the other day. I didn't even know they had a Kasra in rice village. I haven't been in this area in so long! Food is good and fresh! The chicken moist and tender! beef was great also. Portions are pretty large. Just look at the pictures and you'll see! I just wish there was a dipping sauce to this but I know it's not the Persian way! Would def come back!

I could say that this is one of the best Persian restaurants in Houston -- but you can get rid of the Persian designation and rightfully say this is info of the best overall restaurants in Houston. I've been to Kasra many times over the years and one thing remains consistent - it's always awesome. The food is fresh and cooked to perfection. Everything and I mean everything is so flavorful. Even my son - who normally it's predictable kids meal food loves the kabobs. Nice job, Kasra. The staff are very friendly and attentive. My only gripe is my own problem -- that I live so far away. That said, I don't mind the drive when the destination is Kasra. Ready to eat more things on the menu!!

My family & I came here to celebrate a birthday, and it was quite busy on a Friday night. When we were finally seated, we ordered all of our food items pretty immediately. The hummus is by far one of my favorites I've ever had. The platters were great and enough for 1-2 people for sure. Unfortunately, they didn't have the dessert we wanted, but the birthday girl was able to get a birthday baklava. I'll definitely have to try more items again.

This place is absolutely INCREDIBLE! Gorgeous interior -- do you see those fancy hanging pink plants, lighting, and little central waterfall?? They also have a giant circular oven where the complimentary pita bread bakes. Everything we ordered was delicious!!! The menu also importantly has plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options (they specifically designate a little yellow wheat icon next to the dishes that contain gluten) which is very nice as we were visiting a friend with Celiacs. Unfortunately the bread obviously has gluten but most everything else is gluten free!! Food wise, we started off with an appetizer sampler trio. We got the 2 eggplant ones (Kashke bademja and mirza gazemi) and the mast labu (beet with homemade yogurt one), all so so good. Perfectly creamy! Not spicy at all. The tomato-based eggplant one got eaten really quickly. We also got the pomegranate & kale salad combo (sounds like an unusual combo but was very good). For the entrees, we ordered the chicken sultani (the meat skewers were amazing--super tender, so flavorful, and cut very easily with the skewer.) The two vegetarian dishes we ordered were also quite good--I can't remember which ones these were but they were tasty (one eggplant one and one sour green one--I think the kidney bean stew). Rice also was plentiful. We did family style (4 people total) and came home stuffed and still with leftovers. Yum yum yum. Houston has impressive food!!! Service was also quick!

Fantastic Ground Beef, Ground Chicken & Cherry Rice !!!
    Michael C.

My last visits here were top notch in terms of the beef kabobs, chicken, cod and rice. The ground beef fell off some for a while imo and seemed to come back with a great vengeance thankfully and even one of the best in TX, along with Shandez Randevou and Darband. The ground beef was rich, fatty, very delicious and moist with a good charbroiled taste too. The cod was even better than last year when I had it. It was more seasoned this time and a little sweet. It was super soft like butter and had that fresh, fleshy, cold water fish vibe. The chicken has always been super good here and better than any other Persian restaurant for that category. Love the ground chicken and chicken with bone, bc both types are so tender, juicy and seasoned very well. The white rice, dill rice and cherry rice were all very tasty and fluffy. The dill one looked faint a little, but was packed with an earthy punch. The cherry rice is so good and like a dessert. Great, welcoming service from most of the staff I have come across here.

Still very good. They bring you pita right away. Juicy meats. Perfectly cooked rice. I love that vinaigrette in the bottle on the table. The pistachio baklava was a nice finishing touch.

Met a friend for lunch today at 11:30 and the restaurant was fairly empty, but by noon, it was 3/4th full. Service was excellent - the waiter was attentive and knew the menu well. The bread is complimentary and wonderful - hot and hearty. The food came out in under 15 minutes - it is obviously cooked to order. I had the Cornish game hen kabobs - a lot of food for $16 - and I took half of it home. The side of roasted garlic and jalapenos was mixed by me with the rice. My friend got the salmon kabobs and took half of his home well. The restaurant is large with two separate dining room areas. Parking is ample and free. An excellent and very reasonably priced lunch. Highly recommended.

This was my first time trying Persian food. It is located in Rice Village so there are parking options like the garage with complimentary 2 hrs or metered parking right in front of the restaurant. There is another location on Westheimer. I went with two friends on Saturday at 12 pm. We were immediately greeted and seated at a table in a serene area with beautiful pink wisteria flowers hanging down from the ceiling and a small water fountain in the middle of the room which gave off vibes of an enclosed outdoor patio. There were only 2 other table customers before it got busier around 1 pm. Our server Maryam was amazing. She thoroughly reviewed the entire menu and gave very helpful recs. She was incredibly attentive throughout the meal and very kind. We started off with hummus and Kashke bademjan. The complimentary bread had become pretty tough to cut and eat by the time we finished ordering so kindly requested a new one but we noticed it quickly harden as well despite trying to eat faster with the hummus. The hummus had a strong garlic aftertaste on its own but paired with the entree later on helped balance it. We liked how the roasted eggplant dip was warm and the whey cream gave it an interesting zing to the overall delicious taste. We shared the Gheymeh which is a yellow split pea soup with added eggplant with half white basmati rice and half salad. We also got the Kubideh combo which comes with beef & chicken kabob and white basmati rice. One thing to note is that the option of half salad half rice is an added $2 which we didn't know at the time. I think the consensus on the soup was that the eggplant was really tasty on its own but the split pea soup had an earthy and subtle pea flavor which wasn't our preferred soup taste. The beef and chicken kabob were our favorites because it was perfectly grilled and paired really well with the hummus or garlic sauce when eating it with the rice or salad. One friend got the Persian hot tea which came with cute sugar cubes and was so grateful to have one to go as well. Overall, this has been a great experience tasting Persian food for the first time for me and the service was above and beyond.

Kasra is Houston staple when it comes to Persian food. Always consistent and delicious every time. I do prefer the original location on Westchase, but that's a given. It was my first time trying the Doogh. Yogurt, lime, mint and club soda. Sounds interesting, but wow... I really tried to like it, just not for me. I thought it'd be sweet. We started off with the popular: hummus and eggplant. Super yummy. We ordered the family platter and everything came out perfect. All the meats were juicy and seasoned well. My favorite is the cranberry rice. Pairs so well with the beef kubideh. Love the ambiance, restaurant is clean, service is fast. I highly recommend.

Wow!! This place look decent from the pictures and reviews, which is why I went in the first place, but it's one of those examples of a place that exceeds your expectations by far when you actually experience it. Pulling up I wasn't expecting much more than a grab and go vibe restaurant. Even though it's quaint in size it has a very nice appeal. Looking in from the windows outside I can tell it was nicer than I expected. Without doing too much the place has an alluring aesthetic. I'm generally the type to call in and order even if it's my first time but I had some questions about the menu so I went in to places to go order. I have had some decent counter service experiences, even some nice ones, but this was by far the most lovely experience I've ever had placing a to go order. I believe her name was Raha and she was so amazing! I asked her my questions which she answered very well but because I'm not as familiar with the food type and names I still had to think to decide on what I want to eat. I knew I was taking a while so I didn't want to have her just waiting on me but she patiently waited, then to help she essentially went through half the menu with me while showing pictures from their website for context. For her to have been as helpful as she was for it to go order is *chef's kiss*. I'm going to get to the food but I have to say Raha was by far the most memorable part of the experience with this restaurant....and the food was delicious by the way, she was just that helpful. Now to the food. I knew I was getting a combo platter but that's one of the things I wanted to ask going in. I ended up getting the Kubideh Combo, which comes with a chicken and a beef kubideh served over basmati rice and roasted tomatoes. Because I wanted some vegetables in my life and due to my conversation with Raha, I also added the Khorake Bademjan on the side. To give you an idea of how big the portions are, when they brought me my food in the bag to go I was wondering if it was my order because it seemed like it was so much stuff in it. When I got home I was correct about it being so much stuff, but it was my food. She told me that it came with bread but I didn't expect it to come with two huge pieces of naan. The kubidehs were so large they barely fit in the plate. Oh, and I'm not sure how it was side to be used but it also came with a container of I believe lime, mint, basil, curly parsley, radish, onions and feta cheese, as well as containers of a red colored seasoning. I ate all of it but I'm idk if I ate them how or with what they were meant to be. From the quality of service, plus the portion sizes, I knew as long as the food was even halfway good I was going to be coming back. But even before I had the food, just from the smell of it in my car I knew it was going to be hitting. And it was! The first bite of the chicken kubideh was soft juicy and flavorful. My mouth is salivating just thinking about it the food, but I digress. The beef kubideh was just as good as the chicken. The rice was well cooked and was a great compliment. I didn't overly care for the roasted tomatoe but it wasn't bad. (You know you like a place when you're defending the things you didn't care for lol) The khorake bademjan though was an amazing surprise. I'm not the craziest veggie person but I eat them for health reasons. My first taste of this stew reminded me that when done right a vegetable dish can be just as good if not better than a meat dish. The flavor instantly hit and I was so thankful I got this dish. The naan, as I said, was two huge pieces. It was only okay but I'm not complaining over huge free pieces of food. Based on the experience that I had from eating at this place I can't wait to actually dine in there as well as try so much more of the menu that I know will be delicious. I didn't even realize that they had multiple locations of this restaurant unfortunately none of them are nearby where I currently live. So I guess I'll be making a drive again sometime soon. This was a top tier to go order experience!

I came here on whim as I was looking for something to eat in the area. I love Mediterranean food and this spot had great reviews so I went to check them out. Parking in this area can be a pain! Even for a to-go order I could not fit my car in the little parking spot so FYI and plan accordingly. I placed my order inside and got the kubideh combo with chicken and beef. It took about 20 minutes to come out and came with a huge amount of Basmati rice and and large pita bread. This meat is fire! Very well cooked, well seasoned and good portion sizes! I wasn't a fan of the pita bread as it was pretty tough but I would come back for the proteins!

All 3 meals were really flavorful, good quality, really well-seasoned, very juicy and so delicious. The gyros and burger are without question imo the best in TX. Ekko's and Nick The Greek are 2nd n 3rd for Greek food for me. I always got the gyros sandwich as opposed to the plate before which is odd bc I always prefer meat plates over sandwich form in other foods like bbq, steak, etc. The meat pieces were all really tasty and had some slight char to them too. The taziki sauce is always cold, creamy in feel and refreshing with a good yogurt aroma to it. It's a great bonus and the gyros didn't even need it tbh. The tomatoes were nicely refreshing and the exotic, cool center dolma is always a little treat with meals here. The rice and chunky lemon potatoes with my meals were always mild but still great in texture and prep. As I said before; from my experiences in every single Greek cafe, if the taziki sauce is good, the gyros will be too. It's a solid symptom and indicator imo. As for the burger, very rarely are burger places only in TX actually any good for the past 15 years. So many are just average or below lacking seasoning or a great overall flavor. Niko Niko's, Goode Company Hamburgers and TX Hamburger Palace are my top 3 in that order for it. Each different too. The brioche buns were just the right thickness and very soft to make the beef patty stick out well. The patty was so nice in charbroiled taste, saltiness, richness, beefiness and tender in every bite. A good burger doesn't need much in toppings, but cool, refreshing, tomatoes are a must for me and pickles add some tangy crunch too. For steak rare, but for a burger medium to medium rare. I had never seen or heard of their Greek Spaghetti n Meat Sauce before. This was like a Greek Bolognese with a lot of love in its flavor. The noodles were drained, very moist and so soft. I don't like too much cheese, so I took some off, but still like some. The meat sauce gravy itself was really flavorful, savory, fatty enough and had that subtle sweet, warm spice aroma you get in the Greek lasagna. I like to get dessert here sometimes when I have extra room, bc they have some great options like their galaktobourreko, chocolate ganache cake, etc. The service was very welcoming, friendly and efficient on these visits.

The place is new but not recently new, so I was impress that they were still attracting a crowd. The place was packed and busy but the host was still able to seat us immediately. With reservation, of course. Our seat was a banquet seating and when the host directed us to our table, we notice the party seated next to our table had placed all their personal belongings on our seats. We had to ask the host to ask them to remove their personals so that we can sit down. I felt that the host should have done that and not upon our request. Our server was Keamogetswe and she jumped right into explaining the menu since it was our first time. I am used to ordering drinks first and while waiting for our drinks, explore the food menu. That way, we can ask questions about any item we were unfamiliar with on the menu. Anyways, we ordered our food and they came out very fast. For starters, we had the grilled shrimp which was just two shrimps. They were not prawns so the size of the two shrimps for $18 was not worth it to me. We also tried the Rumi's wings. They were average to me. Nothing to brag about. For the main course, we wanted to try several dishes and settle for a family style meal. We had the braised lamb shank, chicken kabob and the Koobideh Kabob. Since all plates came with rice, Keamogetswe suggest we try different rice options which was a great suggestion. So for the rice, we had the Adas, the Baghali and the Shirin. I have to admit that the braised lamb was amazing. The stew it sat in was very flavorful and the meat melted off the bone it came with. The Koobideh was also another favorite of mine. Both, I highly recommend everyone to try. And my favorite rice was the Shirin. As we moved on to dessert, we had the burnt honey & pistachio cake and the persian ice cream sandwich. Both taste great but the persian ice cream sandwich itself was vanilla wafer. Different but it made it easier to eat with your fingers. The weird thing was when the dessert was served to us, so was the check. I am used to us eating dessert or just starting to enjoy dessert before being handed the check. And when they do hand me the check, they would mention that it was no rush and when I am ready to take care of it. But that didn't happen and I decided to get it out of the way so I can just enjoy the dessert. As we were conversing and finishing our drinks, they started to clear our table and even picked up the signed check or tab. It felt like they were hinting us to get up. I feel that if there was a time frame to dine with them, they should have made us aware of it before dinner or when we made reservation like how Toca Madera does. So that made me feel uncomfortable. But this could just be me.

The waitress poured us some water while we waited which was so thoughtful. You couldn't ask for better service. It's obvious they are happy to have you dine with them as evidenced by their warm welcome and hospitality. We had chicken pide which is one of my favorite things to eat. The ingredients tasted fresh and we enjoyed them very much. Thank you to Pasha's owner(s) and staff for a great meal and excellent service!

Only one other table was occupied, and someone who seemed to be the owner warmly greeted my group of 5 with some menus and an offer for Turkish coffee and tea. The lunch special is quite generous, and includes a wide array of starters and entrees. With 5 people, we tried 5 different appetizers and 5 different entrees and got a good sampling of their menu. The chicken shish kebab, falafel, lamb kebab, and menemen were all well seasoned and paired nicely with the many dishes of rice, salad, and flatbread they all came with. The lentil soup was also delicious. I was with my parents, who really only have a desire to eat East and Southeast Asian food, but they still enjoyed our meal here, which is saying a lot.
