Been meaning to try this place but it was not at the top of my list. I was finally able to visit this restaurant last Thursday. The place is new but not recently new, so I was impress that they were still attracting a crowd. The place was packed and busy but the host was still able to seat us immediately. With reservation, of course. Our seat was a banquet seating and when the host directed us to our table, we notice the party seated next to our table had placed all their personal belongings on our seats. We had to ask the host to ask them to remove their personals so that we can sit down. I felt that the host should have done that and not upon our request. Our server was Keamogetswe and she jumped right into explaining the menu since it was our first time. I am used to ordering drinks first and while waiting for our drinks, explore the food menu. That way, we can ask questions about any item we were unfamiliar with on the menu. Anyways, we ordered our food and they came out very fast. For starters, we had the grilled shrimp which was just two shrimps. They were not prawns so the size of the two shrimps for $18 was not worth it to me. We also tried the Rumi's wings. They were average to me. Nothing to brag about. For the main course, we wanted to try several dishes and settle for a family style meal. We had the braised lamb shank, chicken kabob and the Koobideh Kabob. Since all plates came with rice, Keamogetswe suggest we try different rice options which was a great suggestion. So for the rice, we had the Adas, the Baghali and the Shirin. I have to admit that the braised lamb was amazing. The stew it sat in was very flavorful and the meat melted off the bone it came with. The Koobideh was also another favorite of mine. Both, I highly recommend everyone to try. And my favorite rice was the Shirin. As we moved on to dessert, we had the burnt honey & pistachio cake and the persian ice cream sandwich. Both taste great but the persian ice cream sandwich itself was vanilla wafer. Different but it made it easier to eat with your fingers. The weird thing was when the dessert was served to us, so was the check. I am used to us eating dessert or just starting to enjoy dessert before being handed the check. And when they do hand me the check, they would mention that it was no rush and when I am ready to take care of it. But that didn't happen and I decided to get it out of the way so I can just enjoy the dessert. As we were conversing and finishing our drinks, they started to clear our table and even picked up the signed check or tab. It felt like they were hinting us to get up. I feel that if there was a time frame to dine with them, they should have made us aware of it before dinner or when we made reservation like how Toca Madera does. So that made me feel uncomfortable. When craving Persian food, you gotta go to Rumi's. It's one of my favorite restaurants in Houston, and the place I always take my friends from out of town to. I lost count on how mang times I've been here. A few of my favorites are the beef koobideh, shrimp, sea bass, but my number one has to be the lamb rack. I always get the mushroom hummus! It's a must. The whipped feta has these sweet tomatoes that are addicting. The restaurant is gorgeous and the servers are usually attentive. It may seem pricy to some, but trust me, the portions are huge. Wow! This place did not disappoint. We started the evening at the bar while waiting for a table. Note to self: make reservations next time. We got super lucky because someone didn't show up. I kicked things off with a bourbon cocktail (SS Poet). It went down smoothly -- almost too smoothly. A couple more of those and I would've been in trouble. Luckily, they have an extensive wine selection, so we ordered a lovely bottle instead. I definitely want to go back and drink my way through the cocktail list. On to the food! We started with hummus and couldn't decide which one to get, so we ordered two. My favorite was the lamb hummus -- I loved the crispy texture combined with the soft, pillowy layers of hummus. Total party in your mouth. I probably wouldn't order the mushroom one again. There was nothing wrong with it; the mushrooms just overpowered the hummus a bit for me. Now for the star of the show: the Koobideh. Out of this world. Probably the best I've had in Houston, and I've tried quite a few places. If I had to rank the entrées: Koobideh #1, filet #2 Shish), chicken #3, and shrimp last. The shrimp just weren't my favorite -- they had a stronger seafood aroma than I prefer. My colleague from Houston has selected another 5-star restaurant for a business dinner. The restaurant was packed on a Tuesday night and somehow he snagged a table for four. Houstonians, flush with cash, seem to love dining out all days of the week. You'll have the beat experience if you split several appetizers and a few entrees family style: 1. Falafels are a must get and were among the best I've had. Golf-ball sized with a thin crispy crust and super smooth, green filling. 2. Mushroom Hummus is another winner. The cremini mushrooms added so much earthy flavor and umami that the hummus was in the background. 3. Texas-sized Grilled Gulf Shrimp were like the size of baby lobsters. It was seasoned perfectly, flavor permeating the meat and not just the shell. 4. Eggplant was decent and good with the toasted flatbread. 5. For entrees, the Sea Bass was outstanding. They must have cooked it sous vide to get that silky smooth texture while finishing on the grill to get that outer crispy crust. The chicken breast was juicy and the koobideh were both good too but that seabass was simply on another level. Obviously, even with four people we had difficulty finishing up the mountains of rice. I came here for my birthday and had an amazing experience. I called ahead to make a reservation and the staff made it super easy to find a time for my party size. The lighting and ambiance were perfect, with lamps that you could change the lighting for depending on personal preference. Our server was so amazing and attentive. I've been here plenty of times and have loved it, but will absolutely never return after my most recent visit. Every single employee treated us extremely rudely and with hostility. I have never been treated so poorly in any public setting I called 30 minutes before my reservation to notify I'd be 15 minutes late, which is allowed in the grace period. The staff on the phone said this would be no problem, but upon arrival we were treated very rudely by two different hostesses and told to rush before our reservation expired. Shortly after we began eating, waitstaff asked if they could take our plates and we said we weren't ready. Two minutes later the a different staff member came to take our plates again while we were mid-bite. Our server then came over and took our plates even though we expressed twice that we weren't finished. Our server also pressed us to get dessert and another round of drinks when we asked for the bill Rumi's is not what it used to be. Maybe too busy? Just take your cravings to Kasra. Loved my time here! The ambiance is sophisticated and upscale with dim lighting. The entrance was grand, and right when you walk in, you see their extensive wine collection beautifully displayed to your left. I also loved the open kitchen towards the back of the dining room. The whole restaurant is super aesthetic, so it is also a great place to take pictures. I got the lamb merguez hummus and the grilled shrimp to start. For entrees, I got the chicken kabob, and my friend got the shish kebab. I also tried the gifts of the beloved and orange umbrella cocktails. The lamb merguez hummus was super creamy and flavorful. It was perfect with the pita and the merguez was also very tender and well-seasoned. (8/10) The grilled shrimp only came with two, but the flavor was great and the char on the shrimp was perfect. The sauce it came with was cheesy/garlicy/ creamy, and also paired well with the entree meats. I just wish it came with a bigger portion. (7/10) The chicken kabob was standard. The meat was tender, however the flavor was lacking a bit without the sauce. (6/10) The shish kabob was cooked perfectly medium and came with grilled onions and bell peppers, which I also enjoyed. (7.5/10) My friend got the albaloo and adas rice to pair with the shish kabob and I liked how to sourness of the cherries and sweetness of the raisins contrasted the savory meat. The drinks really impressed me. The gifts of the beloved cocktail was a mezcal-based cocktail and it was the perfect mix of fruity and smoky. It was really smooth and tasted delicious. (8.5/10) I was recommended the orange umbrella by our waitress because I also like tequila and I really liked this one as well. It did taste a bit stronger than the first, but if you don't mind that I would recommend this for you (8/10). All the dishes, other than the shrimp, came with huge portions perfect for sharing with a group. They also came with a charred tomato on each main dish. I left with plenty of leftovers and was very full at the end of my meal. The service was a bit slow at first because they had a full dining room, but once we ordered the dishes came out quickly and the servers were very attentive. There is valet parking or free parking on the side of the complex as well as in the garage behind. The food was overall great and very comparable to other Persian spots I've tried. Alex who was at the bar was amazing, so much so, she almost made us want to dine there. We had drinks and hummus (I forget which one) at the bar. Once we were seated at our table, Stephanie was our server and she was equally as amazing and offered great selections! I ordered the sea bass and it was delicious. It melts in your mouth! I've come here two times now and have loved both experiences! The ambiance of the restaurant is nice and trendy, making it perfect for a fun group dinner or an intimate date night. There's valet parking and a garage right behind/on top of the restaurant for free. This is one of the few restaurants in Houston that's both aesthetic and has good food. The first time I came here last week, my table ordered the mushroom hummus, Chilean sea bass and lamb rack. The second time I came here, my table ordered the lamb hummus, crispy potatoes, lamb kebab, chicken kebab and the soltani kebab. We also opted for the toffee cake and received a free tiramisu dessert for a celebration! The portions are humongous and filling. Both times, the dishes ordered were plenty and had to take leftovers. All entrees that I ordered come with a large platter of two different rices and roasted tomatoes. The kebabs are so flavorful, juicy and tender. My favorite kebabs were the lamb and soltani. I'm not typically a huge fan of lamb but it was prepared super well at Rumi's. Another favorite dish of mine were the crispy potatoes (tasty sauce on the potatoes) and the hummus! Valet parking Party for 2 experience Proably the best beef koobideh I ever had and rice perfectly cooked. Beef was still moist next day when I reheated leftovers. The mushroom hummus was meh. It was very light but flavor was lacking to me. I kept trying to eat it to seee it hits but it was just not. I would say Kasara Hummus is still my fave. The pita bread was ok to me as well. I've been to Rumi's 11 times in less than 2 months. Why? I can eat healthy in an upscale environment. My go to is the roasted salmon sub rice for shirazi salad (no oil on both) but sometimes I opt for the chicken baarg. I don't eat the bread but I do love snacking on the feta / walnut combination as my app. I wake up feeling great after I eat here. It also tastes like something my late wife would make for me. The stand outs at the bar are Jeremy, Kaitlyn, and Alex. I have to admit, I forgot about Alex until she reminded me last night (oops! ;) Having said that, if it wasn't for these 3, I wouldn't come here as often. And that's why it gets 4 stars vs 5. Came here for a business dinner and was super excited for Persian food. This place has a great ambience and we were sat immediately. We started off ordering appetizers and got the chicken wings, hummus + pita, and shrimp. I could've easily made this my meal but I powered on and ordered a main entree. The shrimp was massive and meaty. It is presented in the shell for appearance but it was easy enough to get the meat out. The hummus and pita combination was great and the pita was super flaky and fresh. For my main I ordered the rice and lamb shank. The meat fell off the bone and the shank itself was served in a bowl because it sits in a broth. The rice was soft and flavorful but I'd argue that the portion size was too big. Finally, for dessert we did the ice cream bars. This can't be described in words and is a dish you just have to try. It's unlike anything I've ever had before but man, it all works. It's what I would imagine if you took middle eastern tea and turned it into ice cream. read more

Some friends treated us to dinners night and we weren't disappointed! This small shopping center on the east side of post oak blvd in the galleria area is super swanky. Very cool and unique building. It feels like money the second you pull up. Definitely make reservations as this place is packed! They have a nice bar where you can grab a drink if you show up early for your table. Lots of unique cocktails. Bartenders will make sure you get what you want. You can tell they are pros. The entire restaurant is very dim but each table has these amazing tiny lights that shine the exact perfect amount of light on menus and your food. The waiters will gladly give you a tour of the menu and what their most popular items are. It's best to come here ready to share all the dishes with your table. Lots of meats, breads and sauce options. You will leave full...no doubt. Make room for dessert as they have some extremely unique takes on classic treats. This is what my friend and I ordered: Appetizer Dolmeh This dish has a pretty rich/sweet flavor. The minced beef filling with herbs was savory and the pomegranate sauce was sweet (maybe a little too sweet for my liking but still a great appetizer!) Roasted Cremini & Oyster Mushroom This was my favorite appetizer! The mushrooms were flavorful and added depth to the creamy hummus. I'd say this is a must get :) Falafel I personally don't care for falafel much so this dish wasn't anything special but it's still good! It was perfectly fried and the cauliflower and pickled veggies on the side were delicious. Shirazi Salad Usually I'm not crazy for salads but this was so refreshing and delicious! All the produce used was fresh and you can definitely taste the quality. Grilled Shrimp The shrimp is quality and has a good amount of meat to it with a delicious charr but I'm not sure if it was special enough for me to order it again Entree Shish Kabob and Chilean Seabass The meat was so tender, juicy, and savory! In 2024, I went here 6 times. In 2025, I was there every month! You can never go wrong with Rumi's Kitchen. If you want fancy Mediterranean food, this is the place you come to. This is place you dream about coming. Pro tip- always order family style. For appetizers: Crispy Potatoes with Radicchio, Mirza Ghasemi, Kashk Badenjoon. All three are amazing but the potatoes, stole the show. For mains: their Chilean See Bass- this is why you come here. When I had it back in 2024 the fish was huge. We started with some appetizers (including a hummus with mushrooms and Lamb ribs) and then had our main course (Sea Bass, Chicken and Lamb with sides of rice, veggies and potatoes) followed by dessert. Wow, my recent experience at Rumis Kitchen was excellent! All the food items including the hummus, flat bread, corn ribs, and hangar steak were absolutely delicious! To top it off, their coffee was good too. The big draw for this restaurant is the ambiance. It is beautiful inside and quite fancy for those who value that kind of stuff. Definitely a top notch date spot. I happened to go for a business lunch and it was perfect. It was in the middle of the week so it wasn't crowded and very easy to have a conversation. Our waiter was excellent and very professional. The parking isn't as bad as one might think given the location. There is a garage (and valet option too) with plenty of space, and the parking spaces aren't tight. All in all, it was a great experience. My Mother's Day treat at this Persian restaurant went really well nice ambiance, packed with people from different cultures enjoying pricy delights. We ordered lamb shank, beef kebabs and shrimp kebabs all served with rice basically everything is good, couple of things they should do it first of all the shrimp kebabs are not the kebab form it's like grilled jumbo shrimp taste okay, no refills on the soda. If I could I would rate this spot a solid 4.5. I've heard so much about Rumi's and finally had a chance to stop by recently. For parking you can either do complimentary valet or park yourself in the garage. I would definitely recommend making a reservation because the entire restaurant was packed and with a pretty large group of people waiting for tables at the front. Luckily, we were seated right on time. For drinks we tried a few cocktails which were all pretty solid. The cocktail menu actually ranges from milder to stronger drinks left to right. They also provide complimentary flat bread that comes with some walnuts, cheese, and herbs. Our server went through the menu with us and we actually were eyeing most of her recs so it worked out well. Mirza Ghasemi (smoked eggplant dip): 4.5/5 if you love eggplant or baba ganoush this dish is a must. Roasted tomato labneh: 4/5 the labneh was so smooth and not too tart, paired so well w the tomatoes Lamb rubs: 4.5/5 these were seasoned perfectly and fell off the bone. Good alternative to lamb chops Soltani Kabob: 4/5 this comes with both a tenderloin and kabob, I preferred the tenderloin more but they were both great and the portion was huge Overall, I had a great meal here. Service was very attentive and even though they had a packed house the food came out quickly. It's also a very beautiful restaurant as well. My only minor complaint is that the tables are pretty tight and that does take away from the ambiance of the restaurant. Some of the things we ordered were the Roasted Cauliflower, Dolmeh, Mirza Ghasemi, Lamb Ribs, Shish Kabob, Duck Fesenjoon, Crispy Potato Tahdeeg Basmati Rice, Persian Ice Cream Sandwich. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. No bad bite! Now parking can be difficult and the lighting inside is definitely on the darker/dimmer side. We asked for another light stand so we can see the food better and each other haha. I definitely recommend trying this place out. Great place to celebrate a special occasion. Rumi's Kitchen delivers on flavor and atmosphere. The space is clean, inviting, and perfect for groups. We came with a big party and ordered a variety of appetizers. Every single one was fresh, flavorful, and honestly the best part of the meal. You can tell they really take their time with those dishes. The main courses were good, but I've had better Persian mixed grills elsewhere in Houston. Still, everything was cooked well and presented nicely. Just not the standout for me. But if there's one thing you absolutely have to try, it's the Persian saffron ice cream. It's light, floral, and refreshing. I don't even know how to explain it properly. I've heard of Rumi's over and over again through words of mouth, and finally got the chance to try it. Love love love the beautiful decor, elevated ambiance, and yet they don't skimp on their portions. You can definitely order a bunch of appetizers and feel satisfied, especially with their complimentary bread service. I heavily relied on the raw vegetables and cheese from the bread service to clean my palate throughout the meal. Highly recommend the lamb tartare for more adventurous eater. I've never had lamb tartare before, but this was very very rich and creamy, and as you can see, a good amount to share. Otherwise, I also recommend the smoked eggplant and mushroom hummus. Both had a very nice aroma and distinctive flavors. You can taste the smoked eggplants, and the roasted mushrooms added a nice crunch to the hummus. The shish kabob didn't land as well for me as the appetizers. The filet was very tender, but I noticed a bit of a smell to the meat. The charred vegetables and citrusy red powder condiment on the side (sumac?) quickly came to rescue. Big fan of the sumac powder which adds a bit of zing to the dish. The rice with fava beans was also very very good, highly suggest swapping out white rice with the other rices they offer. The beans and dill added so much flavor and texture which was a lot of fun. Knafeh was ok for me. It was heavy top layer with not a lot of cheese, and the top layer was more on the softer side instead of crunchy. Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. We didn't have reservations so it would have been an hour wait but the bar is full service and we were able to get the last 2 seats open at the bar. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful! It's very romantic and the music is at the perfect volume and sets the perfect tone. We ordered several things and everything came out SO fast despite how crowded it was. My friend loved everything. There were a couple things I didn't care for but that's just because of my personal tastes and of how many different things we ordered there were bound to be a few that weren't my personal favorites. The lamb ribs and cauliflower loved. They were soooo good! The Kunefe we ordered for dessert was truly one of the best desserts I've ever had in my entire life. It's so different from what you would be able to get at most restaurants. If you come here, you HAVE to same room for dessert to try it! read more

Rumis is absolutely delicious! We went last night and had one of the best meals I've had...ever. The lebne with tomatoes is outstanding, lamb tartare incredible, lamb ribs a real stand out, and their shared beef short ribs entree is one of the best mains I've tasted ever-a definite not miss. Our sever, Jasmine was really special and made the night even more wonderful. She is so great at what she does! We sat in the side room enclosed in glass (including the ceiling) with beautiful chandeliers! A perfect night! read more
