Carlos and Malrie are fantastic-probably the most professional landscaper I have worked with on explaining the contracting process to insight on getting my landscaping done for my best interest. My yard is small but they made it so functional, inviting and looks modern. Making a decision was not challenging at all as they told me what would work best and brought up good points for my space. I have 2 great walkways that not only look good but I won't have a falling hazard. I didn't know whether to do pavers or stamped concrete. The stamped concrete came out great and their design maximized my space which I didn't know on what to do as they did from their experience. They guided me on the best choice for my area for my dog which I really like versus a prior choice I had made with another landscaper which in the end was wrong. We contacted Arreola Landscape to do a large water feature in our front yard. Our house is situated at the bottom of a slope, so we wanted to take advantage of the change in the grade and create a stream and waterfalls. Malrie and Carlos came up with a great design and made full use of the slope to create a 70' stream with multiple waterfalls, all blended in with large boulders and landscape, ending in a large pond at the bottom. The water is pumped back up to the upper waterfall and makes it way downstream to the pond. They took a lot of time on the design and added some nice touches with extra plants and ground cover so it fills in a large portion of the hill. The stream makes a pleasant noise, and seeing the water cascading down the stream and bubbling over the rocks and gravel is a very relaxing sound. About 3 months ago Arreola Landscape did a series of steps and pathways on the same hill, and they came out spectacular, so by adding in the water feature they ran the stream adjacent to the steps so it all blends in seamlessly. They do the job, they do it way above and beyond your expectations, very nice crew and very tidy, all debris is removed, they clean up and leave the yard looking better than before they got there. read more

We can't thank Malrie and Carlos enough for the wonderful work they did with our backyard renovation. The project was the biggest renovation that my husband and I have done together and Malrie and Carlos really made it come together with ease. We did a complete renovation of our pool, including switching it to salt water. We built a gas fire pit, pergola and outdoor kitchen with gas BBQ and replaced a wooden patio and aggregate stone around the pool with beautiful new coping and stamped concrete. We had a large side yard with grass that really had trouble growing due to shade. We moved the gas for our pool and hot tub over to the side of the house where we couldn't grow any grass and also removed a large additional piece of lawn and replaced it with stamped concrete and created our new outdoor living space. All of our plants were 30 to 40 years old and really needed to be replaced. Malrie helped me pick out all new plants for the entire backyard including lovely olive trees and tiny tower cypress trees. It's a true oasis with hummingbirds visiting already! Because we took the entire backyard down to dirt, there was a lot of design work that needed to happen and Mallory was a true artist. She helped pick all of the colors for the pool tile and plaster, stamped concrete, coping, stucco, concrete for the fire pit and outdoor kitchen and guided us through the full design with wonderful suggestions that we never would have thought of on our own. Malrie, Carlos and team worked very quickly over approximately three months (mid Sept to early Dec 2021) and we couldn't be happier with the end product. Due to all the rain recently, we still need to have our stamped concrete and the top of the fire pit and outdoor kitchen sealed, but we will do that in the spring when things dry up and warm up. Juan was very punctual in coming out to give us an estimate for re-plastering our spa, and replacing a couple of broken coping stones around our pool. His estimate seemed reasonable, but we figured we should try to get a second quote for comparison. That was rather painful as the other companies we contacted were either completely unresponsive, or spent all their time trying to 'upsell' us on remodeling our entire pool instead of just replastering the spa. Just to emphasize again, the above issues were with OTHER companies we spoke to, not Arreola, and only served to make us more appreciative of how Juan was such a straight-shooter who was willing to do the job we actually needed. We accepted Juan's bid, and the work proceeded incredibly quickly and smoothly. 3 separate crews came out in rapid succession to each do their phase - plaster demo, replaster, then coping stone replacement. We are extremely happy with the quality of Arreola's work and would happily use them in future if we need further work done. Our pool maintenance guy was also so impressed with their work that he's taken their details to pass on to some of his other clients - he says their work is amongst the best he's seen. Like a lot of people during Covid we decided we wanted to completely redo our backyard and put in a swimming pool. The process was difficult as there were so many companies in the Bay Area to choose from. I reached out to about seven different companies and right away it was obvious that Arreola would be the right company for us. They were very good at getting back to me, answering any questions, and the communication was excellent. I like the way that the contract was laid out. It was easy to see every detail of work that was going to be completed. They started the work in November and was completed under three months. Their workmanship was excellent, and the cost was reasonable as well. If I had any questions or concerns, they addressed it immediately and we were able to move forward. I am so pleased with all the work that was done. They put in a brand new pool with a hot tub with an automatic cover, all new concrete hardscape, new fence with a beautiful gate, retaining wall, lights, trees and grass. It has been a little over two years since Arreola put in our font and back yard landscaping, and we continue to get compliments about our yard. People ask me all the time, "Who did you're your front yard? Did they do all the work? Who did the design? Were they expensive? Each and every time I say Arreola, except about the expensive part; for that I say they were competitive. Now I can add helpful and thankful. Recently, I discovered a persistent water leak in the sprinkler valve area. Unfortunately, water was leaking even when the system was not running. It was near the house, and I had nightmares of water pooling under our home. I texted Carlos looking for recommendations regarding investigation and repairs. To my astonishment, Carlos had his team come out and fix the issue themselves. As it turns out, it was a faulty valve (Hardware failure), and the Arreola team fixed it that day. Well this is a start to a long road, we are pursuing in court. Having to try and recoupe a mess at my home. A fire started in my barbaque by a pinched gas line installed by Carlos. We tried to negotiate a fix but we were blamed for taking advantage of the situation. Just wanted my barbaque to work . That's the truth. We also had to replace the putting green that was installed by there team which the contractor who fixed it said one of the worst seams he has seen. Other issues that were half measures too but I don't have the space here to share to lengthy . Be careful with this company. We like to entertain, but we have a two-level backyard. Malrie came up with a beautiful design to tie our levels together perfectly! The end product far exceeded our expectations!! The first notion was to move the hot tub so we could make the BBQ the focal point for entertaining. She nailed the perception of the redesign and relocation. We plan to add an outdoor sofa along the lower wall with a fire pit and chairs. We also plan to add dining down below plus a bistro set and bar stools up above and perhaps another table and chairs. We have a beautiful high-end ping pong table we plan to use on the east side of the house and/or corn hole, so that is how we plan to use our space given we have children. Arreola Landscaping did a complete backyard and pool renovation for us this year, replacing an old broken concrete patio, renovating a 50-year-old pool and updating a previously dilapidated yard that we almost never used for fear of injury. Two things I will say about Malrie, who is the point person we communicated most with. First, she is a design genius. She has an art background that she uses to come up with beautiful landscape plans. For us, she came up with a beautiful backyard, understanding that we wanted something family-friendly, with modern features that would work with an old, unmodern house, and that would fall within our budget. (Other contractors we interviewed poo-pooed our budget immediately, while she was completely open to the idea of splitting the project into stages to accommodate our level of comfort.) We have been thoroughly enjoying the new backyard, eating fresh veggies from our garden, and have received many compliments from everyone who's seen it. Secondly, I think you will be hardpressed to find any other contractor who is as honest, genuine, and direct as Malrie. She has a way of making her clients feel at ease, such that it is easy to ask questions, make requests, and voice concerns. By getting to know her clients well, she is able to get a sense of your style and interests, and she integrates those into her design. She is extremely responsive, warm and funny. In terms of implementing the design, Carlos and his team paid incredible attention to detail, going above and beyond what we expected. Carlos was very hands-on, doing much of the work alongside his crew, rather than just being a manager. He is quieter than Malrie, but always very responsive when we had questions. Despite their many years of concrete experience, we had one issue with having the concrete poured right before several torrential rainstorms, which resulted in some blotchy curing of concrete. Malrie showed her resourcefulness, speaking with other experienced concrete workers to find a solution, which they then used to fix the problem. It has been about two months since they completed the project, and most of the residual splotchiness has faded, as she assured us it would. In short, we really loved the work done by Arreola Landscaping and would use them again in a heartbeat. My advice to anyone who hires them is to always keep the lines of communication open and to trust that they truly seek to make their clients happy. read more

The best decision we made in renovating our backyard was working with Malrie and Carlos. We did a full backyard project including a pool, grass area, and multiple concrete patios. From the very beginning Malrie understood my vision and worked to make it come to fruition. Carlos and Malrie recently helped us plan and install a new outdoor kitchen and redo the landscaping for a large property that hadn't been taken care of in several years.  We purchased the property as a short sale in 2015 and the entire 1/3rd of acre was covered in weeds and overgrown trees. Planning: Malrie was incredibly helpful in the design phase of the project.  From drawing up initial sketches of the outdoor kitchen, to preparing a book with pictures of plants, flowers, and trees that would go into each section of the property.  She took a task that had overwhelmed us for 2 years and made it straight forward and simple.  We had very little comments on her initial design, but she was very easy to work with on the few comments we had. Landscaping: Carlos and his team did an unbelievable job converting piles of dirt and weed into a beautiful yard.  His team ran new drip irrigation to all plants, including our existing trees.  2 months later everything is thriving and looking better than we could have hoped for.  In addition to planting several hundred plants, Carlos also installed landscape lighting which has added a new element to our yard and makes sitting in the backyard at night that much more amazing. First let me start off by saying my review is based on services that were not received. I reached out to Arreola for a quote on a pool installation. One of the owners (the wife) came out to take pictures and advised me of the services that could be provided. After spending about an hour with her she informed me that she would get an image of my house on google satellite and will perform measurements and provide me with a quote. After waiting about two weeks and not hearing anything I followed up to see when I could expect to receive a quote. I sent a text message followed up with a voicemail. Another few weeks go by and no response. I call one more time and reach the owner who visited my property and informed her I was still interested and was following up because I never received the quote. She advised me she had been sick with pneumonia and was attempting to get better but would certainly follow up with me. I wished her well, and waited about 3-4 weeks and didn't hear anything. I followed up one more time leaving a voicemail and sending a text message. The voicemail indicated she was out of town and would respond upon her return. Well one month later and I have yet to receive a response. I really wanted to work with them and my wife really liked the owner who came out but I just can't recommend this type of customer service. Not only did I make time to be available when she came to view the property but I also delayed moving forward with other contractors waiting on a quote. I just think if your too busy or don't want the project you should communicate this to the customer. I was really hesitant against leaving this review however I felt it was best to share my experience in hopes this will help out the next customer or even the business in regards to customer service expectations. read more

Carlos and Malrie and their exemplary crew just finished a renovation of my backyard and pool. My backyard had a lot of wasted space that I wanted to use, and the pool was old and dated. Malrie listened to me and worked with me to come up with the design. She has a great eye and suggested many ideas that I would not have thought of. I signed a contract with them in December, and my start date was May 20. They started on time and finished early. They were here nearly every day during the project, unlike many contractors who go back and forth between several projects at one time. They were really nice people to work with. Everyone was pleasant and professional. Now my backyard and pool are a beautiful oasis that will be great for entertaining friends and family, and enjoying myself. I can't rave about Malrie and Carlos enough! After 4 years of our backyard being overrun by our dogs, we decided to do a remodel to get ready for Summer. We wanted to change our horrid lawn to beautiful stamped/stained concrete, create a dog run, plant some trees along our fence, add some outdoor lighting, rebuild our patio cover, and install an outdoor electrical outlet. Their pricing was actually on the lower end of the bids we received, but the quality of their work was as if we paid the big bucks! They responded quickly to all of my questions and clearly communicated the process with me. I've never done a remodel project with a contractor before, and feared that I would be taken advantage of (which nearly happened with the contractor that contacted me before Malrie and Carlos), but Malrie explained the contract to me clearly and even taught me things to equip me in dealing with contractors for future projects. I truly appreciated this. I worried that they wouldn't be able to start the project until we were well into Summer, but they figured out a way to schedule us in between two other major projects and got everything done faster than we expected! Carlos managed the entire project onsite and his team was made up of the nicest guys! As the project went along, there were things that I decided to add, and they were awesome at accommodating those additions. Also, with all design choices, Malrie and Carlos were great at suggesting cost-effective options. They definitely went the extra mile for us, and we highly recommend them! read more
