Greg (Aquatic Savant) performs a site visit and defines the scope of the project. 2. A detail bid is generated. 3. The project designer does a site visit to gather all the information needed to develop the projects drawings specifications. 4. Greg brings all the subcontractors in for a site visit for the entire project is reviewed allowing questions and input from the subcontractors. 5. Greg generates a detailed schedule with dates and durations of each task. 6. Demolition and construction begins 7. Seven final walk-through and clean up miscellaneous cleanup. 8. Post project follow up to make sure everything is satisfactory. The meticulous attention to details in each phase of the project resulted in the project being completed on the date projected and at the cost estimated. No surprises. The cool blue Pebble Tec finish is like swimming in a pristine mountain lake. California Aqua Pros may not be the cheapest option but after seeing the end result, worth every penny. This review is way overdue. I meant to write this review a few months ago. Our experience with California Aqua Pros was not good. They are unprofessional and take no responsibility. There are so many things to list here on Yelp. First, Greg quoted me $25k on the phone to build a 10x18 pond, but after he came to my house, it ended up costing $40k. We were stuck because they are the only pond builder in our area. We had our koi with us, and they had been in the portable pond for almost a year since we moved from SoCal. Second, a few months after the pond was built, the water turned green. We tried everything, even partially changing the water. I reached out to them in March 2025 (our pond was built in December 2024), asking them to add a UV light for us. They kept asking us to add chemicals and delaying. In the end, they still refused to add a UV light for us. In June, we decided to add a UV light, and the water quality improved dramatically. Third, weeks later, there was a leak at the water spill, which was NOT near where the UV light connection was. They came and repaired the leak. Right after the installer glued the PVC pipe and connected it back, he turned on the water right away. He did not wait for the glue to dry. The following week, there was a leak at the same place. I informed Greg, and he said that he heard we installed a UV light and he's not responsible for the leak. Our experience with California Aqua Pros was not good. I had Greg look at my yard because I wanted to build a koi pond. I paid him his consulting fee, which was more than $300. Ok. I knew that. No surprise. I also interviewed three other pond guys - none of whom charged me a fee. I ended up hiring someone else. Greg said my pond did not need a "bottom drain." I am SOOOO glad I hired someone who did install the bottom drain. All the reading I've done on various Koi pond websites say that a bottom drain is just about as important as having a hole in the bottom of your toilet at home. Greg might be great for other types of water features, but -for the health of your future fish- I'd recommend avoiding someone who says they will come vacuum out your pond once a month after they build it. They worked hard for 2 hours cleaning and pressure washing all the rocks. The installed a new pump, too. They replaced all the rocks very artfully and didn't break even one plant. Update: Last week our Pool cleaner booster pump froze up and we called California Aqua Pros. We were told that they will back in touch with us sometime next week. Our pool isn't getting cleaned as this pumps runs the pool cleaner. Apparently they don't really care once they have been paid. This pump has a two year warranty and I left Greg the owner a message telling him about our issue. No phone call yet. This is typical for them. They never called my husband back when our plumbing they installed was leaking badly. We had to pay another company to come in fix it. I guess after the money is paid, the service ends. I can't believe we had so many issues with them and they never once apologized for all of it. Do yourself a big favor find someone else that stands behind their work. Greg's company didn't fix anything. It was Adams Pools that fixed all the issues. When the pebble tech finish was cloudy, we called Greg, again, they did not even show up to the appt with Adams pools even though Greg agreed the finish did not look right. He did nothing about it. I like this rendition below, I was not happy, it wasn't how pebble tech finishes are supposed to look I contacted Adams directly and they fixed it. They agreed it wasn't right. Five stars for Adams for taking care of their customers. Greg knows every single thing in the review is true. I guess his only angle to combat the factual review is to fling mud at me and say derogatory things. Look at all his reviews responses, they never do anything wrong LOL. We finally decided to write the review when Greg wouldn't send someone out to fix the plumbing issue 5 weeks out of warranty, it was wasting a lot of water and we are in a drought. His response time getting back to his customers is usually one to two weeks unless you owe him money and then he will show up. read more

He Gave us a stack of pool equipment and control vendor handouts and said he is to busy but give him $1600 and he will put us on a list with possible install of 1+ year away. So I was crazy enough to give him the money. After a month I couldn't reach Greg so I asked his office account for a refund. She said no problem and would have a check out in a few days. I received the refund less $$250 with a note that said deduction for pond consultation. Did not want a pond and no consultation received except handful of equipment brochures. Called the office and said they charge everyone a trip charge just for showing up. Expensive lesson learned about the business ethics of a company. We were looking to redo/improve our back yard and we chose to rebuild our water feature with California Aqua Pros after talking to Greg and checking out his brochure. The team came on the scheduled date and first carefully took apart my old water feature. They were very careful with my property and asked about what I wanted to throw or keep from my old water feature; they even asked which area of the yard they could use to store the items from my old water feature. They carefully moved my fish and plants to a separate temporary tank. They made sure not to ruin any part of my back or front yard; they covered the spaces they were using with tarp. I was nervous in the beginning owing to my past experiences with contractors; however, just watching the systemic, organized way in which the team, led by Brian worked; how they treated my property and my things; put all my doubts to rest. They are very professional and knowledgeable and courteous. They know what they are doing. The entire team worked well together and cleaned up carefully each day before they left. The entire project along with putting in the electricals for lights, was carried out in a very timely manner; my family is very impressed by how efficiently the team worked to finish every detail and feature perfectly and on time. I also had questions during the project and Brian patiently answered all my questions be it about the project design, where to place which color rock or just general knowledge about pond/plant/fish care. He took care of any issue I had; he always made sure I was happy each day with the progress of the project. If I had even a slight doubt about something, we discussed it and he made sure I was happy with the end result. Brian, along with his team, placed each boulder and rock carefully to create a beautifully designed water feature. Every part of the water feature was carefully designed and every detail of it was carefully taken care of. The team made sure to finish every item that was agreed upon in the contract. After the water feature was completed, I was given detailed instructions about how to care for the new components of our water feature. Our water feature was completed in December 2021. Since then, I have had questions regarding maintenance. Greg had been kind enough to answer my questions and give advice along with required links to more information. I have had quite a few bad experiences with pond contractors in the past. Many don't follow up and charge to come back if something goes wrong. My turtles are living the good life in a beautiful crystal clear pond with a waterfall protected from racoons. But here's the info you came for... I haven't had the pleasure of ordering a pool from Marlo and her team (though I certainly would if I were less than 1,000 miles away), though I can say with confidence that these folks are highly reasonable and trustworthy when conducting business. To explain: Our company produces advertising on high-end golf courses. One of our reps was in contact with CAP, and the company was set to advertise on a few of our Bay Area courses. Due to a few careless errors on our end, our company bungled the transaction and CAP - quite reasonably - decided to not move forward. This was an action any reasonable businessperson - myself included - would have made given the blunder we created. Roughly a month later, I called Marlo to inquire about what happened and what we could have done better to serve them. Now, here's the kicker: I'm the guy at our company who calls former - or formerly potential - clients to gather feedback on why they elected to not continue doing business with us. As you can imagine, the responses are not always positive (read: usually hostile and expletive). Marlo, on the other hand, took time out of her busy schedule to carefully detail her concerns in a rational, constructive manner that uultimately will help us improve how we communicate printing deadlines to clients. Additionally - being the most important aspect - she actively listened to what I wanted to communicate about our error, how we're planning on rectifying those issues, and lastly, what I could do to make things right and hopefully earn their business. Take note: this is how you run a business. A cool-headed, rational, and constructive approach to supplier issues is invaluable to the business process and the flow of services. This is unimportant as I merely wanted to express our disappointment at not being able to work with the company. My husband and I had met with Greg approximately 3 wks ago to discuss a renovation of our pool. We've just taken out a loan to remodel the entire house and the pool was #1 on our list since summer was fast approaching. We had an excellent meeting, communicated what we wanted out of the renovation, Greg gave us his thoughts on what would be best, etc. When he left he said he would be in touch with an estimate for what our ideal pool would cost. Meanwhile I was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and was scheduled for a mastectomy & lymph node surgery at John Muir. I was really hoping that by the time I was discharged (yesterday), we would have the pool construction underway so I could it enjoy it for my recuperation after my MD and physical/occupational therapists clear me for activity. Greg never called us. We could not figure out why he would not follow up on an estimate for our pool. We went over and over in our minds what the reason could be for his "dismissal" of our business. And then we figured that it likely rested on what we wanted for our pool which was a true beach entry or zero entry pool where the shallow end would rise to meet the ground much like the shore of a beach & there would be no steps. This is my wish as some of my best memories have been in tropical climates in Mexico among white sand beaches and palm trees (both of which we will ultimately install in the yard). In hindsight I realize that he was not very comfortable with this project; perhaps he had never done this before. He attempted to convince us that one lone stair to enter/exit the pool would offer us equal benefits aesthetically. But since I was tied to the Mexican beach idea I said I really would prefer a true zero entry pool. We are sad that things didn't work out with us and California Aqua Pros as we felt impressed that Greg was 3rd generation pool people and he was so easy to talk to, so down-to-earth. He was our first choice as we had not wanted to use a large corporation such as Adams, as it might not offer as personal of an approach. This is a beautifully run company. I cannot say enough about Greg and his crew. Friendly, on time and they do exceptional work. The term "you get what you pay for" is very true. I had another company put my water feature in and it fell apart after a year. Greg and CO came in two years ago and rebuilt it. Then every year they send out a email for people to sign up for maintenance. So a few weeks ago they returned and cleaned it top to bottom and even recommended adding a few more lights. I wanted to put a 40 foot pondless water feature/river on our large downward sloping side yard. My wife was reluctant but went along. Two amazing things about this company - four days from start to finish with huge boulders as well as a mix of other rocks - they work so hard. Second, they are artists. Talented, Responsive. CAP installed a pondless fountain in our backyard, and it has been the centerpiece of guests' comments. In a small-ish space, CAP created a fountain with a strong flow over large and small stones. The water sparkled, and created an authentic creek sound. What a wonderful business! My husband was hospitalized for a lengthy stay. It was the longest period of time that we'd ever been apart. Using our custom requests along with Greg's design suggestions the pool and spa came out more beautiful then we expected. We needed to get our 17 year old bio falls repaired. The aluminum bolts on the water fall lip had corroded and roots had wedged themselves in between the waterfall lip and the bio falls tub. It involved installing a new lip, removing about 35 large boulders and 2 boulders weighing over 250 pounds then installing a new lip with stainless screws and nuts. Greg's team of Brian and Gilberto then got the huge boulders back in to place. They then reconstructed the water fall with the original smaller boulders. But my wife and I were completely surprised Brian rearranged the boulders on the waterfall that made it look much much better than the original design. It was like getting a much great new waterfall and I was just expecting to stop the slow leak from the roots and broken lip. Brian and Gilberto were on time, professional, and courteous.
