Good food! We ordered nachos and burritos to go and ate in the car. The burritos were pretty heavy, but tasty. As a note they looked closed (no open sign) thankfully we tried the door. Also no bathroom for customer use. read more

The great thing about this place is that is one or the first tortillería in the Southern California and still in business since 1960's I think, maybe even longer and they have kept their recipe the same way through our generations and more importantly their flavor. This is one of my favorite go to spots, coming here for years. This place is as no frills as you can get. There is no dining on site. Everything is prepared to go. Arriola's is known for their Tamales... and masa preparada. Which means prepared masa that is used for making tamales, they also sell prepared Chile paste. I have not been able to find a place in the San Jose area that does. Their tamale boats are popular, I go for the super nachos and burritos. Their Chile Colorado is excellent. Nachos are a staple, as are their tortillas and tamales. There was a time where their tamales were sketchy (with clumps of dried masa), but they seem to have fixed that problem. -1 star for their wait. I've found myself trying to coordinate this stop with errands nearby so I don't have to wait 20-30 minutes for a plate to be put together. I have really only bought the nachos here since I was a little girl and never tried anything else since I don't eat beef or pork but what they do, they do extremely well. My family and I have been coming to this place since at least the 70s. They make all of their chips, salsa, and tamales fresh in the building. Their salsa is the best, the longer it sits the hotter it gets. This place will always be a must-stop when I come back home. I highly recommend getting their chips and salsa. They also have some nachos with chile verde, which were yummy. The single serve chips and salsa is good in the styrofoam container, however I really miss having them served in the small paper bag. It was so nice to get that small paper bag with all the salsa poured on top and work your way through the bag, trying to keep your hands clean on the way down. I know this way is much cleaner, but for some reason I do miss the nostalgia of that bag. I will definitely return in the next couple of days, and again on my next trip to the desert. It may be a small hole in the wall place, but it is the best!! FYI, no seating inside, it literally is a counter and a couple of coolers. However, just know everything is freshly made there and it is definitely worth the journey. read more

Spent Christmas with my sisters in Palm Springs. Craving some tamales we happen to stumble upon Arriola's. Went there and ordered 3 dozen tamales. They were still making tamales as we ordered so we had to come back to pick them up in about an hour. I'm the meantime ordered some breakfast burritos, breakfast quesadillas and tamale boat. Everything was amazing but the tamale boat was out of this world. The chili Colorado on the tamale boat was the best I've ever had. Would definitely recommend and wish I lived closer to Palm Springs. read more

This spot is so good. We have visited a few times for lunch and once for breakfast. I recommend the chili colorado burrito or the combo burrito which includes beans and meat in the burrito. Both green and red are tasty but I'm partial to the red at this place. They have an affordable lunch special which includes a "mini" burrito + nachos. The nachos are simple but tasty - queso, chips and red salsa but tasty. You could easily get full off of just the mini burrito. They do get a little busy during lunch time but we haven't experienced more than a 5-10 minute wait for food. There is no place to sit down. If you're in Indio, I highly recommend visiting! read more

This is a super hole in the wall spot. We were hoping that was a good thing. We went about 30 mins before closing on a Friday night. I came out for the weekend for a softball tourney. Saw the reviews and figured I'd give it a try. I did like the fact that t was pretty clean. Their menus were pretty much made on a home computer. Like I said, very low maintenance. I ordered small nachos and a green (pork) burrito. The nachos consisted of super thick chips, nacho cheese, red sauce and barbacoa. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing either. The burrito was just put together badly. The tortilla was very thick, it was SOGGY on the bottom and just a mess when I unwrapped it. Seriously, just ridiculous. We know when we try new spots it's either a hot or a miss.... This one we took as a miss. Not horrible, but wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more
