Contacted Arroyo plumbing after my youngest son decided to throw 2 balls down our back porch drains. Feared we would have to tear up the concrete to get to them as these drains are for pool overflow. Was able to have someone come out the following day and within 30mins had them out. No need to break concrete. Replaced the old drain covers as added piece of mind as well. The company charged my credit card nearly $3000 without my permission for work that was not invoiced, not completed and not correct. My impression/opinion is this company rents out its license number to a handful of unlicensed plumbers who tell the company how much to charge the customer then get paid by Arroyo minus what is, in effect, a license rental commission. One of the individual plumbers is great (Leonard). One is not good and one is unethical. He tries to get paid more by going around Arroyo. I am truly disappointed with his deceitful behavior, he lacked skill, lacked experience, and even asked for bottled waters when he did not fix a single problem. He walked out and begged for 200.00 in cash, now I am left with an even bigger issue, he had placed 3 wax rings (which based on my research and I am not a plumber) you are not supposed to, and he clogged up my entire plumbing system and feces and coming through, water leaking down again, he had never fixed the leak and now its draining down to my ceiling from the 2nd floor. He even wanted to charged me for tools that any plumber should own, he used old caulking that he had charged me. I was left to clean all of the water and mess that he had made. Beware of this rip-off artist! City of Arcadia requires that backflow prevention devices be inspected by a certified plumber every year. I have had my device inspected by this company for over 10 years. They charge about $50 per visit. About 2 years ago, I was told by the person the company sent out that my device was no longer any good and did not pass the inspection, he offered to replace the device for $230. I accepted his offer, he did the work and my device passed the test, yay! This year, a new person from the same company came out and told me the same story about my backflow device breaking and needing to replace it. I was pretty suspicious at this point. So I contacted the city's water and power representative and inquired about the lifespan of these backflow prevention devices. He replied that as far as he knew, he has heard of some lasting up to 40 years! I had a different company come out and inspect the device. They tested it, and confirmed it did not pass the test. But he opened the device, cleaned out the filter, and tested it again. Lo and behold the device passed the test. The gentleman charged me $40 for his visit and "repair". To sum things up. Arroyo Plumbing either hires incompetent plumbers or are a bunch of thieving rats. I suspect the latter, but in any event, you do not want to hire these people. read more

I am a professional Architect, and the condescending attitude of the receptionist was equally matched by the service technician both of whom play the "blame the customer" very well. Eric does not return phone calls, but cashes the check which I wish I had never sent. TERRIBLE and UNPROFESSIONAL. Does NOT do free estimates (charged a random amount - more than $100 -- to look at a variety of plumbing tasks and refused to apply it towards repairs unless you do the actual service within 10 days -- even if you can't schedule the work due to their own unavailability, you have to eat the cost of getting their estimate). It's almost like they don't want to get the job! It worked out for the best because after getting competing bids from other plumbers, discovered that their estimates are also more than double the fees that other plumbers charge! We WASTED money on getting their exorbitant estimate which could have gone towards just fixing the problem. Their front office makes it impossible to speak to the plumbers or even answer questions. We received a quote from another company but the guy was not very helpful and getting the estimate was like pulling teeth. Eric, from Arroyo Plumbing, came out to do the estimate and was very professional, understood our needs and gave us some good suggestions. We had the estimate that afternoon. Work was completed in the amount of time they said it would take and did a great job. They had to cut through tile and concrete so I was concerned it was going to be a mess when they finished but the were careful removig tiles filled the concrete perfect. Everything about my experience with this company was terrible. They called the day before to cancel our 7am appointment for the following day. (And to top it off, they charge you if YOU cancel or change your appointment in any way.) When they finally did show up for our scheduled appointment, they did $900 worth of work on our home. Only one month later, we had another issue with the same piece that they were supposed to have fixed the first time around. I called the lady and she was extremely rude. She told me that I should call another company because they were completely booked for the next two days. Since I cannot go without water for two days and the repairs were JUST done to our home, I asked if she could please look into this more as I had just spent a lot of money to have plumbing issues repaired just one month ago. She looked at my file and said she would send someone - in THE MOST unfriendly tone. When the guy got here, he explained that in order to fix what was wrong, it would cost me another $200. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I said that was ridiculous and did not want to move forward with the work. At this point, he told me he would need to charge me $49 for visiting my home "after hours." IT WAS 4:00PM - who is that after hours for? In closing, I would never recommend this company to anyone and I will never use them again. Had them test my backflow device which they have done in the past and they said it did not pass (2nd time in 5 years) and that it would cost $396 to fix. Well I know it takes at most an hour to repair and you can buy the parts package for $50-$70 and this was confirmed from another plumber. Anyhow had the backflow tested by another company and low and behold, the device passed the test. Not only was I going to be charged over double the cost to fix the backflow device, It didnt need to be fixed at all. Very disappointed and even called and complained and did anyone in the office care? NO. and to think that they were the plumbing subcontractor to do work at my house when I did my recent remodel to the tune of $43,000. I'm very disappointed in the lack of integrity of Arroyo Plumbing. I've used Arroyo Plumbing for over 20 years for my house and business and overall the service seemed to be fine. However, over the past 5 years, based on their inspection, I've had to repair and re-certify backflow devices twice at both my business and house. After Arroyo's latest inspection where they found the device defective again, I finally had another company check the backflow device at my business and, similar to Jeff C's experience, low and behold, the device passed. Obviously, I'm not happy with this lack of honesty, but, I also worry that they are taking advantage of other customers as well. Therefore, buyer beware and I will never use Arroyo Plumbing again because of this lack of integrity. read more

Can't comment on their plumbing service but have used them for backflow testing for my house since I had the backflow installed. My experience is EXACTLY the same as others have written here. Every other year they would fail the test. I've repaired it twice replaced the device one based on their recommendation at the cost of hundreds of dollars. Wish I had read the reviews here about this first. Will find another company to do the test from now on. read more

Our second excellent experience with Arroyo Plumbing today. Noticed a small drip from a pipe in the basement and called at 8 am. Gracious receptionist told us we would be the second job for Brandon, probably about 10 am. She called back about 8:30 to report that his first job was very quick and that he would be early. Doorbell rang about 8:45. Within two hours, he had diagnosed and repaired the leak in the plumbing under our kitchen sink as well as repaired two faucets that required attention in bathrooms. We will call Arroyo Plumbers again for plumbing needs as we have found them to be responsive, efficient and fairly priced. read more

I contacted Arroyo Plumbing to have them fix dripping faucet in my kitchen sink, their plummer checked the faucet and told me it cost between $480 to $500 to fix the drip. I refused to do the work and paid the service charge of $49.50. Then, I ordered a new cartridge and replaced the bad one which it stopped the drip. Cartridge including shipping cost me about $30 and the work took less than 10 minutes. So, I wanted to know how did they came out with such a high estimate. I stopped at Arroyo Plumbing office and asked the receptionist to talk to the owner. She said, the owner may not call me but she can help. I explained the situation and asked for breakdown of the estimate. She was clearly irritated and angry with my request and said $50 for the cartridge plus $140 for picking it up and $140 per hour for labor. I said that adds up to $330 what about the other $150-170. She said additional $80 if it is difficult to access and I said everything is above the counter and easy to access with no obstacles. Then she said, if you don't like our estimate you don't have to the work. This business is total rip off. read more

My husband and I were VERY DISAPPOINTED with Arroyo plumbing. We called them to fix a mainline clog. The plumber ended up putting 120 feet of snake down our 60 foot pipe and his snake ended up wrapped around itself and got stuck. The technician told us he thought his snake was caught on a large bunch of roots and that we needed a hydro cutter company to clear the clog and free the snake. When the hydro cutter company arrived, they used a camera which revealed the snake tangled on itself and no clogs or roots. The snake was able to be freed by going through the man hole. Ultimately the hydro cutter was not needed but we got charged $275 by Arroyo and $500 by the hydro cutter company. We called Arroyo that same day to complain and ended up spending a total of 5 weeks calling 3-4 times per week trying to get a hold of a manager because they kept dodging our calls; SO UNPROFESSIONAL In the end, the hydro cutter company refunded us $200, but Arroyo never apologized or took responsibility for their technician's mistake. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU USE THIS COMPANY. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY !! We are an HOA and have used this company for over 20 years. Who knows how long they have been ripping us off. Recently we had to have our annual backflow check. This company tells us that our backflow did not pass the test. They told us it would cost $636 to come out to repair and retest. We said yes, trusting them. They came out and claimed that they replaced the parts in the backflow and the retest also failed. Next they tell us that we now needed to replace the entire backflow system at an additional cost of $3,500 dollars. It was hard to believe after replacing the parts in the valve that the whole system was bad. So we looked on Yelp and saw other complaints about the same problems about this company. We hired a second plumbing company to come out and retest our backflow and what do you know the same backflow was fine and passed the test that this company claims failed the test. Please listen to the reviewers NAT, JEFF, and oursleves and do not use this company. We have blacklisted them, from ever working on our HOA's plumbing again. read more
