I've used ARS twice now for major work and have been satisfied both times...with one caveat. First was hot water install, that had faulty parts and other issues. Repairs were quickly assigned and addressed. Second project required major excavation and complete replacement of old cast-iron sewer pipes. Excavation sub contractor Rite Way and ARS plumbing crew led by Conner were excellent - hard-working and respectful for what I know is difficult and very dirty work. Conner was great at keeping me informed of the steps and was a complete professional throughout this stressful process....5 star! I give an overall 4 star instead of 5 star due to what seemed like a lack of coordination with the Rite Way resulting in delays and the lack of thorough cleanup after. Dirt was left in a neighbor's yard and dirt plus mud/concrete mix was left in my rock yard. Project took almost a month from start to finish, some of that time I had to be out of my home with no drains or water. During this time I was told that Rite Way does its own scheduling. My suggestion is for ARS as the overall contractor to better control that part of the process and it would likely be a 5 star rating. read more

UPDATE... Reply to comment left by owner... This isn't about pricing, this is about the fact the unit needed a VERY minor repair and your tech tried to make it sound like it was an emergency to replace it. He even went as far as telling us we were on the verge of the system flooding the house and having water damage. You apparently think this was about price and not about the shadiness of your business practices. $350 fixed the system, ZERO reason to suggest and offer a replacement. Went through Home Depot to have this company come and check the AC for any issues. They gave me a list of reasons it needed to be replaced, including telling me the system may cause a flood and create water damage. They sent someone out to quote a new AC unit... $31,000, with a special price of $25,000 and magically if I bought that day... $18,890. I called other places and had them come out, turns out... NOTHING major is wrong with the unit, just needed a tune up and a coil. Both places I called told me my unit was too new to replace, and still had 5-10 years left. These guys are shady, and I'd stay FAR away from them. read more

WARNING - ARS is unethical & predatory ARS targeted my elderly mother during a visit to Lowe's. They offered a complimentary inspection of her HVAC unit. She agreed and they sent out an employee to her home. Upon finding the unit in her attic, they proceeded to claim it was rusted out, leaking water, and beginning to cause water damage in her walls. This was a huge lie. We (her children) take care of the AC by replacing filters every month and checking it. I personally observed it recently and my brother did so two weeks ago. We have never seen any signs of leaks, rust, etc. The pan is visible every time you swap the filter. The story from the sales person was entirely fabricated. Of course, my mother is in her 80s and not likely to inspect this herself. Instead, she was panicked and agreed to getting a new unit without consulting her children. They came out the next day, replaced the unit, and convinced her that new ducts were also needed. By the time we learned of this situation, ARS had finished and removed all of the old ducts, AC equipment, etc. My mother had paid a huge amount of money due to the threat described by the sales person. All of this was unexpected because the house is less than 10 years old, she has never had any problems with the AC, we routinely check the system, and there was no sign of any problems at all. Looking in the attic now, there is no indication of any water leaks in the past. In simple terms, ARS is a criminal organization that should be avoided at all times. Do not trust them. They will take advantage of anyone that is unable to protect themselves. It is worth noting that Lowe's allows this to happen under their roof. Although the work is done elsewhere, the predatory targeting happens at Lowe's. Keep that in mind when you are considering where to do business. read more

Long review because of how poorly they handled this situation. I will also not mention names out of respect for their privacy. I will also preface by I have used ARS before with a good experience so called them again when our A/C went down. I actually had their card on the side of my fridge if anything happened in the future. Tech showed up next day and said he didn't have the right equipment to run the proper diagnostics and they would send someone else out that day because he was so busy and had to get to next job. No one came by 5p so called and they apologized that they are so busy they could not make it back tonight and will be back first thing in the morning. Next day nothing call or anyone showed up by mid afternoon. Called again and they apologized saying so busy and someone would be out ASAP. Again 5pm and no update so called again and they said they are so busy and would have to schedule someone the next day. Now moved the family to a hotel because the house was so hot and started looking at other companies. I never received any follow up from ARS. I did call 2 other times over the weekend and no one could tell me timeline, or what was going on. Just said they will try and keep getting in touch with the tech but not getting an answer. I ended up using another company and they fixed the issue. I then get a bill from ARS for diagnostic work, which never happened. Called the office and to say the dispatcher was short and unhelpful is an under statement. She said I owed money and I said I don't think it's warranted because nothing ever happened and I'm still waiting on follow up. Again she said she would reach out to the tech. Again, no follow up. 2 weeks later I get a call saying I had an outstanding bill. Again ran through the scenario with the same lady who was just rude at this point. Explained no diagnostics done, no work was done, no follow up give and I shouldn't have to pay and it was my turn to be short and to the point. Again they said they would look into it. I hear nothing again and now received certified mail saying I have 10 days to pay or else legal will get involved.... The bill is not big, it's $109 and that's not the issue. Lack of follow up, follow through or care for a repeat customer. The company did not follow through on the basics they said they would, put all the follow up in my court and then were rude to me. The repairs cost me $3000 which I had no choice to pay but in the end gladly gave to a competitor due to my experience. I am just hoping ARS does the right thing and understand you were too busy stretched thin and did not properly fulfill your promise. read more

BEWARE DO NOT USE. I am frustrated that it took almost an entire second day for them to fix the blower but what has causing me the most concern is the unit is less than 6 years and has biological growth. We purchased the UV light as part of the unit but ARS sealed it up so now it's a festering unit of germs and they want another $1,300 to clean. They state the filters are not good enough but the cheap $2 filters in our older unit were more effective than the $60 filters. It's a scam. Home Depot should drop their business relationship with ARS. read more

Do not do business with these people. I was approached in a Home Depot to schedule a 'tune up' to my AC system. They did show up for the service, but there was no 'tune up' at all. Nothing was checked or cleaned. It was all a con to try and sell me a ridiculously expensive new system when there is nothing wrong with my existing system. Joe Gilbert was my salesman who assured me that they have a 100% money back guarantee. To test whether that claim had any merit, I told him that I was not at all pleased with my 'tune up' as no tune up happened. Basically, they charged me $100 for a high pressure sales call which was very much like what you would get from a sleazy used car salesman. The pitch even included a call to the manager who offered me a special discount good only for the day. He had the nerve to ask me 'what would it take for us to get your business today.' My response, 'it would take me not sitting here in my kitchen in July feeling perfectly comfortable'. Bottom line is they tried to sell me a $50,000+ system, which I didn't need, and they didn't perform any kind of tune-up, which is what they sold me. I'm not sure how these people sleep at night. Needless to say, after multiple attempts to get refunded under their '100% money-back guarantee' for the tune-up which never occurred, I've been ghosted. Run, don't walk, from this company. read more

I was a customer for over 10 years. Had a leak coming from the inside unit and the tech charged me $500 to unclog the drain and refused to take the panel off to explore the leak. 2 days later he came back out and took the panel off and yes there was a leak. Tried to sell me a new unit, then realized they no longer sell Lennox. Called Freedom Solar and HVAC and they came and cleaned the unit and everything is fine. The Halo unit we bought from ARS wasn't even working, and the tech didn't say anything about it. I will never use them again. read more

I tried to cancel an appt with this company and it is impossible to get ahold of anyone. I keep getting an automated CS and when I say cancel, they reply about scheduling an appt. Came out price to fix seems really high. Carrier system three years old. Been a real turd.

The installers did not follow directions, the job had required multiple visits having to be redone. it took them 4 whole day visits to do a job that should have taken 6hrs to complete. Didn't wire dehumidifier up to anything at all. Tied into existing drain instead of making dedicated drain lines. Double billed me in hopes that I would double pay. read more

Had an appointment on May 25 for an AC tuneup. 2:00 - 6:00 timeframe. Lady called at 5:55 to say they "were slammed with emergency calls and would not be able to keep my appointment." I asked when I could reschedule. She said first opening was for today, 17 June (over two weeks?). So I said ok. Same appointment window 2:00 - 6:00. Received texts all day. "You're on our schedule! See you today!" Ok! 5:10 pm: same lady. Same call. Sorry. Not gonna make it. Can we reschedule? NOPE. WASTED 7 HOURS OF MY TIME. And another hour posting this review EVERYWHERE!!! read more

I normally do not leave negative reviews, but after years of ongoing HVAC problems and repeated unresolved repairs, I feel obligated to share my experience with ARS/Rescue Rooter Austin. Since installation, my HVAC system has experienced repeated cooling failures, humidity issues, airflow problems, and ongoing operational instability. Over time, I have had more than 24 technician visits attempting to resolve recurring problems. Despite the system being less than two years old, major components including the compressor and evaporator coil have already required replacement. Even after those major repairs, the system still struggled to cool the home properly or maintain humidity levels. Throughout the process, I experienced: * poor cooling performance, * inability to maintain thermostat setpoint, * excessive indoor humidity, * repeated Stage 2 runtime, * airflow concerns, * freeze protection and wiring issues, * and repeated service callbacks. During troubleshooting, I personally discovered disconnected return-side ductwork near the HEPA/dehumidifier section that was pulling hot humid attic air directly into the HVAC return system. This was contributing significantly to the cooling and humidity issues and was something I ultimately identified myself after repeated service visits. While some technicians were professional and attempted to help, the overall experience has been exhausting and frustrating due to the repeated unresolved problems, inconsistent diagnoses, and the amount of time required to continuously coordinate service appointments. At this point, the issue has been escalated to Carrier, the financing company, BBB, and TDLR due to the ongoing unresolved performance concerns. I strongly recommend that anyone considering a major HVAC installation ensure they receive complete airflow verification, commissioning documentation, duct inspection, and written performance measurements from day one. Wanted to charge $706 to replace the capacitors of my AC unit. That is 2X-3X more expensive than the competition in the area. An update for the response below to change an AC capacitor is an easy repair for anyone with a basic understanding of working with electrical components. The cost of such a repair is $100-400 for parts and labor. The cost most companies would charge in this area is $200-300 There is no "premium" service that could possibly make up this 400-500 dollar difference read more

We have used ARS for years but lately they have really been disappointing. They are happy to give you a service time window but it means nothing! This latest time they kept us home an entire Saturday and they never showed up! This was even to correct an issue they caused during their inspection earlier this week. Even more frustrating-they said 3 times they would be there within 20 minutes but just didn't call or show up. Might be time to look for a new company!! We asked to speak to a manager - they said one would call us and they never did!! Now we wasted Saturday and they should be here now on Sunday but guess what? They are a no show! I was very disappointed with my experience. The online estimate range was almost half of what the technician quoted when he arrived on site. When I said the price was too high, he asked, "Well, what would you like to pay?" I told him a number that was roughly half his verbal quote, and he immediately said he could do it for that amount. However, after going to get his tools, he came back and said at that price he couldn't provide a warranty unless I paid the original, much higher amount. At that point, it was clear the pricing was inconsistent and the expectations weren't being communicated honestly. I told him I would find someone else. Overall, the experience felt misleading and unprofessional, and I would not recommend this service based on what occurred. read more

Was referred to ARS by Lowe's. When they completed the job, I paid them in full by check. I was never asked for a deposit. A month or so later I got a call from their accounting department saying that they only processed 1/2 of the check. I paid them in full and they admitted to mishandling the check. Afterwards, I received countless emails and texts. On my last call with ARS, I told them to send me a bill. I have never received the bill that I requested. Instead they resubmitted the check a second time without my permission. This is textbook check fraud. A check is a one time use form of payment. I have reported this to my bank. Lowe's was no help in resolving this. They actually admitted the check fraud in an email and went so far as to suggest they could submit the check a third time. ARS mishandled my payment. ARS and Lowe's have repeatedly blamed me for this. Their lack of accountability in mishandling the payment that they received has caused them to commit crimes. read more

Do not use this company. They did not show up at the scheduled time so I called them. After several minutes wait they told me they could not do the work today. I also tried to call their customer relations line but no answer. Now I have to find another company and set up a new time. do not use ARS. read more

had a tech come out and do a diagnostic test. stated everything was working out well but could recommend another co woroker to cole give a no obligation quote. worker Zachary C. came and gave options to different packages they could offer. I kindly declined and stated we did not want to go forward. after this was said he still went on to push a credit limit increase request towards my wife's Lowe's card. after we left we received a call from a service tech asking what time he could come the next day to install our new unit. We explained this was a mistake and we never agreed for a new system. Ofcourse.... After all this. Our AC unit suddenly decides to no longer work. After it being perfectly fine. Can almost certainly point this towards this technicia/company who insisted we buy a new unit before the year ends. Terrible and horrible way to try and win a client. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with this company was absolutely awful. I was given a 2-6 PM window for a technician to fix our broken A/C. By 5:45, I'd heard nothing--so I called. By 10:30 PM, the inside of my home was 90°, my baby and toddler was miserable and sweating, and I had called three times--and still, no one showed up. Diagnosed problem and quoted an expensive price (over $3500) Did it myself for $117. Problem wasn't even what he described.

I hate that Home Depot is in bed with this scumbag company. They were the only "installation" option if I were to buy a hot water heater from Home Depot. DO NOT DO IT!! The first red flag was when they wouldn't even give me a ballpark quote without a full appointment. What's to look at? Oh yeah, they need to find anything to upcharge. The guy threw safety codes in my face and claimed they had to pretend a state inspector were coming to check their work. We had a vent that is apparently out of code, which may be accurate, but he quoted $6400!!! Then tried to upsell tankless at 'only $7500' WHAT?? We've done our research and tankless is NOT the way to go at all for our household. THEN the guy tried to force me to increase my credit limit on my home depot credit card ON THE SPOT. When I refused, he left, but not before tossing a dirty scare tactic my way about a house that blew up!! I'm 49, not a fool, and the disrespect this a hole showed was WILD. "I'm a certified plumber for X years" line was used MULTIPLE times too. I can't believe they run a business like this. Needless to say, we found a local business who did it for just a couple hundred, like they should have. AVOID RESCUE ROOTER AT ALL COSTS!!! read more

Was referred to them by Home Depot to pick up and install a new water heater and remove the old one. Jerome Baez, "Plumbing Advisor", gave me a detailed description of work to be done, emphasizing that it was a big deal because the old one had no drain pan and they had to dig under my slab foundation and out under the garage to install a pipe to drain any leaks to the street. Said it would take 4 hours. No digging at all was performed. They installed a drain pan and a cheap plastic part and were finished in less than 2 hours. I was overcharged more than $1000. read more

I see that there are issues on here with scheduling but my experience with ARS was top notch, and on time. Jerome arrived as scheduled and did an assessment, and Javier and Nuhar did hard diligent work in the hot sun. The new water heater has pressure and functionality we did not previously experience with the older unit. The work was pricey but I will get over that if the heater continues to function well, but the personnel I dealt with were professional and showed up on time and finished on time under the not the most comfortable of conditions. read more

At ARS Rescue Rooter, I had a terrible experience. I called more than 20 times in a single day, and every time someone kept saying, "A technician is on the way." I even booked an appointment and waited for a whole week, but nobody ever showed up. Each person I spoke with kept repeating the same thing, yet no one actually came to my house. This company is completely unreliable -- I strongly advise not to trust them. They operate like a scam and seem totally disorganized, almost as if they have no sense of responsibility. read more

ARS Rescue Rooter installed a brand-new HVAC system at my house in June 2017. The system stopped working properly in August 2025. Since I was still under warranty coverage, I contacted ARS for the diagnosis. ARS' technician came and determined that there was a refrigerant leak in the evaporator coil after testing the area using a wand-like detector. With this background, shown below are the reasons for the review score I gave. The original contract I had specified 10-year warranty for parts but only 1-year labor warranty coverage. ARS quoted me a lump-sum amount, no itemization, of several thousand dollars for the warranty repair. This dollar amount was about the same as another quote I received on the same day from a different company for a not-under-warranty work. This didn't make much sense to me but I had no choice but to accept ARS' quote because I didn't want to void the remaining warranty coverage with ARS by introducing a 3rd party repair. The bottom line is, ARS honored the warranty but, in my case, the warranty was worthless because I had to pay about the same amount of money as not-under-warranty work. ARS was adamant about requiring that I pay the full amount before they even schedule the work for my warranty repair. They said they would not schedule my work unless they got paid-in-full first. I thought it was absolutely unfair and offered to pay the half for the scheduling then pay the balance at the time of the work but they wouldn't accept it. Not having other choices, I ended up paying the full amount before they scheduled the job. I paid about $650 more for the diagnosis and the leak detection. The technicians were courteous and informative. When they noticed we don't wear shoes inside the house, they took their shoes off or put on shoe-covers whenever they came inside. read more

These guys Never. Show. Up. I wasted 3 days waiting for them. Twice they called before their time frame ended to say they wouldn't make it that day.
