Literally the WORST company. They lack customer service and organization. Nobody gave me a call before they were on their way, they went to a non-existing address, and the woman was snappy when I called asking where the inspector is. When I asked them to have someone come out soon, they told me they have many "emergency calls" they have to respond to. I didn't know emergency calls took priority over scheduled appointments. Technical work was good however obtaining promised items after the sale was difficult, bordering on impossible. At every turn promised dates for rebate information and quotes for insurance purposes came and went with no communication. Additionally, predatory payment practices and litigious management make it difficult to resolve disputes. I will be finding a new HVAC supplier. read more

ARS provides terrible service and takes advantage of women. I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars with ARS (the previous homeowner used them and I kept paying the very pricey annual service fees thinking it would be great to have if the AC breaks in the summer/heat in the winter). That said, neither of my AC systems work on any reliable basis (I have two zones). (heating either for that matter. ARS even convinced me to buy two completely new, high end Carrier HVAC systems, and neither reliably provide AC. (Heat is more reliable but has failed several times this past winter,) Each time a repairman comes to fix one issue, another issue arises. On the hottest days of the year, by AC inevitably fails, and despite the fact that I pay an expensive annual service contract, they fail to be available to make a service call. Yesterday, they told me my appointment was "all day". When they didn't show up by 6pm I called again, and they said they could not give me time, but would come tonight. They said they could not promise to be there my midnight and said I should stay up all night to wait. I did (it was 90+ degrees and not comfortable anyway). They never showed up. When I called to complain, they said they would try to come the next day, and offered to give me $25. I've paid more than $20,000 to ARS over the years and endured countless days and nights of 100+ temps because the AC is broken. This "remedy" is insulting. My AC is still not fixed. Purchased new HVAC unit in condo (weird closet configuration) in May 2018. Condo requires gas & cooling inspections. Had sloppy 9 min inspection in May & later unit hot as temps rose. 2nd tech spent hrs finding problem and reporting to mgr. Coolant added, temp fixed and told to call back w/in 2 weeks. 3rd tech ID'd problem part and ordered. No bill yet and professionals. Have used at least 4 yrs for 2 yearly inspects and will continue. Recommend to family and friends. Catch TV ads for ARS specials. Sorry new unit broken and slow coolant leak, but pleasantly surprised by ARS's responses and diligence in fixing. I called this service because I had a telephone number on the A/C unit and it was leaking. It is 7-3-18 and very hot outside. They will not be available for 2 days, I told the person who answered the phone that I will look around for someone to come today and call back if I can't find someone. Well, they hung up on me before I finished that sentence. I would never use a company who is so rude to someone for wanting to get A/C in 100 degree weather. Go elsewhere.... read more

I am highly disappointed in ARS. I just got TWO new units installed in November of 2018. It is now July 20, 2019, 8 months later, and my upstairs unit does not work at all! It's the middle of the summer and I have no A/C. We paid $11,000 out of our pocket and the system does not work. What's more disgusting is I called Rescue Rooter to try and troubleshoot the issue, they told me yesterday that they would have someone to my home between 8:30pm and 10:00pm. NOBODY SHOWED UP! It was a no show and a no call! ARS didn't call me to apologize, reschedule, or at least update me. I called them back today, and they tell me I now have to wait to be put on the schedule. THEY DIDN'T WAIT TO TAKE OUR $11,000!!!!! I should not have to WAIT for anything having had invested so much money into this company! 12 July 2017: I called ARS, but did not schedule an appointment because of the negative Yelp reviews. After the second choice (K&M) I called did not keep appointment times and did not give any notice, I decided to give ARS the benefit of the doubt. Within seconds of submitting a service request, a scheduler called and asked what the issues were and when I needed service. I told them I needed service as fast as possible, because my A/C had gone out and my two small children were sweltering in the VA heat. Within two hours, they had a technician at my door. Doug J. did a fantastic job. He was knowledgeable and professional, quickly assessing the problems and giving me a solid, affordable solution. Everyone from the schedulers to the technicians were incredibly professional and polite. I would recommend ARS Manassas to anyone. 10/10, will definitely be my first choice from now on. read more

ARS has to be the biggest scam ever. I had a maintenance plan with them to have my ac/heating system checked twice a year. They came to my house and absolutely lied over and over again. They told me that I needed a new system and cost me $6000 and how I could finance the purchase, prior to this they told me that I needed to have my blower clean and it would be $500 to get the work done - then they told me that some electrical cords in my system where rusted and had holes all around the coils and it would cost $3000 to replace the coils. That's when they started to try to sale me a new system - my system is 6 years old they starting saying lot of things about my Amanda system. Wow it was just crazy - they were showing me pictures that wasn't from my system how do I know this - I called another contractor to come out to do another inspection and they where like mama there is nothing wrong with your system - you don't need to replace your system. I was not surprised but I was. I called ARS and told them what happened and they was like - a quality control manager will call you. Really they never did. I ended up getting all my money back I had paid them and canceled my maintenance plan. Stay away from this company - they are liars cheaters and thieves. Do not trust this piece of shit company. These people are the biggest scammers EVER! The last 2 times they have come they have recommended I replace both of my systems as an alternative they have priced out thousands of dollars of repairs that were not necessary based on second opinions. The most recent repairs include replacing a heat exchange for $2500-3000 (second opinion stated there're were no cracks and his CO testing revealed no leaks), cleaning blower motors for $277 (only covered with light dust) and replacing ignitors at $277 each. When I had ARS come last spring they convinced my I needed Freon for $300 which the second opinion confirmed was not necessary. STAY AWAY from ARS. I have heard the technicians work on commissions and have lower hourly wages so the way they make money is by selling these extras. read more

Three years ago, right around the time of the blizzard of 2010, my old heat pump died. I called ARS to come out and they installed a new unit. I have had nothing but problems with them since. Their bi-yearly maintenance is a joke. They refuse to change a filter and they never cleared the drain. After every single service call from them I had a clog that caused my heat pump to leak into the apt. below mine. They will nickle and dime you to death with service calls. I had them out about 1 month ago, and they fixed a minor issue I had. Of course, I was running low on freon and not once did any of the service techs offer to add more, I understand that I have to pay for freon, but I shouldn't have to pay an additional $120 service call when they already have visited my apt. 3-4 ties previously. If you do choose to use this company, please be aware that they will never follow-up on anything. You have to be proactive and call them constantly to schedule additional service calls and remind them to order new parts for installation. Their techs are rude, with the exception of Carey, and not very knowledgeable. read more

ARS (American Residential Services/Rescue Rooter) installed the HVAC system in my new-construction home outside of Leesburg. Myself and five of my neighbors have experienced multiple premature AC compressor failures within the first 2.5 years of ownership, costing thousands of dollars in repair costs. I called in the manufacturer of our equipment (York), who diagnosed the problem to an incorrectly installed temperature sensing valve. I contacted ARS and they refuse to compensate for the mistake and the subsequent repairs that was caused by their incorrect installation. In addition, their prices are routinely 2-4x higher than other local HVAC providers. Stay away from them at ALL costs! read more

These guys are absolutely a joke! They tell you your AC is working even when they know it's not, then after you call them out they tell you it'll take a week to get "parts", which is a very simple duct flap that ever AC shop should have in stocks. Not to mention their general attitude toward customers. I had the privilege to over hear the administrative assistant mock and ridicule a customer to the technician on the phone, and I'm standing right there. I had a short cycling HVAC (heat side) issue this winter. I googled enough info to find it was probably my flame sensor. Well I had ARS of Manassas Va come over to figure it out just to be sure. They did the AC side of my unit (coil and outside fan system) in 2011 and had the best price, warranty, and service I could find. Well it was my flame sensor. So it was $100 for the trip out and $69 for the service. While a flame sensor is a cheap little part (looks line an alen wrench) I still had no issue with the price because I have no idea about these things. While the field manager (a NATE certified technician) could not have been nicer and fast, I was told my heat exchanger had multiple "stress cracks" in each of the three sections one of which was 1/3 inch deep which according to the tech. is very bad. I was told this can lead to serious health issues with the possibility of CO leaking into my home. After a brief explanation of the problem I got a quote for just under $1980.00 to fix the issue. I even had to sign a "Cracked Heat Exchanger Acknowledgement Form" AKA scare tactic. I was also told my blower fan was dirty as well, holding it back from working at full pace. The blower fan was pulled from the unit, it looked a little dirty, so I figured it was legit. The quote to clean that was for $270. He explained that a new unit with a warranty would be about the same price so he called a ARS sales rep to come over that day to talk about a new unit. At this time I called my a mutual friend in the fire department who has 20 years for HVAC experience with another company for some help. He came right over but he ARS sales rep showed up quick pushing a new unit HARD. The cheapest unit he said that had was $2850.00 installed. That's about $600 over what the ARS tech. had thought would be the price. No biggie. I took the quote and filed it away then my other tech. showed up to help and that is when it went south real quick............. It took my friend about 25 min to pull the entire heat exchanger out to look at it. I found that odd because the ARS tech. never even pulled the unit out. We went over every inch of that heat exchanger and found nothing wrong. No stress cracks, no scratches, not even a dent. With everything put back together my blower fan was next. The minor dirt on the fan was not the issue. It was the battery working at half power making the fan run slow. The ARS tech. never even checked that. With a new battery on my fan and a clean flame sensor my unit runs great with no issues. Oh and I forgot to mention I have a CO detector on that floor in good working condition and I have never heard a tone. Not saying the ARS company is bad but this individual is out to make some commission or something. I don't have a problem with paying a guy to service my HVAC. I payed for two people to come over to finally get this sorted out. But when you get lied to..... it makes you think about who else he is screwing over. My neighbor? I used ARS for several years to maintain the systems they installed in our new house. There was not one time they would come in and not try to sell me something to add to our system. After 5 years they started slacking on their maintenance of our system. We had one of our HVAC systems completely fail and I decided to bring in competitors to bid on the job. Come to find out from 3 competitors ..ARS had built an incredibly inefficient system and done a sloppy job. They also never recommended simple safety additions that could have avoided such a costly replacement. They were more focused on upselling me every visit they made. A manager reluctantly called me back after waiting several days to do so and sent out his "most experienced" tech who proceeded to belittle me and dismiss all the issues that had been found by 3 competitors. The tech didn't even bother to finish the work I asked him to do. I called the company and said I'm done dealing with them and Happily hired a new company who had spent the time to walk through everything with me and have never looked back. Despite my displeasure ARS has never removed my name from their mailing or call list per my requests and every year some poor rep has to call me and I stop them as soon as they say ARS. We called ARS for an air conditioning problem. We set an appointment for the next day between 12-4 but requested they call 30 min before since we live in a gated community. At 4:30 we called the company for an update as no one had showed up know there's always traffic. They informed us they hadn't assigned our case to a driver yet which means it will be several hrs out before we saw anyone and no time frame could be made. They refused to work with us or help us in any way. Ended up hanging up on them after they transferred us from person to person to dispatch back to a person. Totally disappointed that we took off work for this and now making calls to another company for help!!!! NEVER calling them again!!!!!!! read more

These company are down right crooks. I had them come inspect my HVAC for an inspection evaluation after going under contract on my house. First the guy told me I needed a brand new system (my system is only ten 10 years old). Then when I said no, he said it was going to be $4,000 to fix it. I said no but go ahead and write it up but that I would be getting a second opinion so don't inflate what needs to be repaired. Suddenly it was $2500. The guy still tried to get his sales manager on the phone to sell me a new unit! Unbelievable. I had Cosmos Heating and cooling come out and turns out everything is in working order and it just needed a little cleaning. $190 out the door, which also included the first time customer inspection fee. Buying my new HVAC system from ARS was a big mistake. To begin with, the salesman Jimmy Debruyn measured the space for the HVAC wrong, so the technicians showed up with the wrong size part. Then they ordered a new part that ended up also not being the right size (although they eventually cut it down to make it fit). Then they discovered that the electrical work was more than they could handle, so an electrician had to be called out the following day to re-wire the HVAC. Finally, they double-charged the down payment, which now has to be sorted out with the bank. What was promised to be a 3-6 hour job ended up taking 3 days, required me to take off work, and will now require time talking to the bank. The only positive thing I can say is that they paid for the electrician. I understand that unexpected things happen, but it seems to me that most (if not all) of these problems could have been avoided. read more

Had a problem with our AC. The previous homeowners had the HVAC system installed in 2010 by ARS so I scheduled an appointment with them. The technician did his diagnostic and said the control board and/or fan motor for my outside unit needed to be replaced. Luckily the parts and service were still under warranty, so all I had to pay was the $120 diagnostic fee. The technician ordered the parts and was back the next week to install them. Everything is still working as of two weeks later. Pros: -Same day service, I made the initial call and they had a technician at my house that afternoon. Cons: -The technician seemed to be rushed both times he came and did very little explaining of what could have caused the issue for such a new system. -He didn't answer my questions and instead tried to sell me on their maintenance service plan. read more

The worst customer service I have ever had with an HVAC company. I'm not blaming the tech for being late (for our initial service call) because it sounds like the people who make the appointments overbook the techs. The tech was fine and seemed to have done a good job on our bi-annually service check. However, 2 days later our unit is having a communication issue from the outside unit to the inside thermostat and ARS can't get anyone to stop by for 4 days. I've never dealt with a company that would respond in this manner. I'm hoping the manager will at least attempt to make things right and get a tech out here ASAP. I even offered to try and troubleshoot it over the phone with someone and no luck. Update: Erin the supervisor offered to prioritize us for Tuesday (today is Saturday) and waive the diagnostic fee if one would have been needed since it was just serviced 2 days ago. If I could give this company zero stars I would, they don't even deserve half a star. I had my landlord contact this company to have my air condition looked at and I scheduled with these people three times and today will be the fourth time. In all four times not once did I get a phone call from the technicians stating when they're en route nor from the company itself NOTHING!. I gave specific instructions that need to be met because of the rules of my apartment complex, which is that they need to get keys to access the roof from the property manager and he leaves at 5pm everyday and is not around on the weekends. This was explained by my landlord and myself a few times, I understand that there's a time frame that they schedule I asked for times between 1-5pm and today 7am- noon. I took off work this morning to be at home to wait for them, nobody showed up nor called TIME IS MONEY and they basically robbed me from my money that I couldve easily been at work for, and get this I got a call from a technician at 3pm today 8 fucking hours after the scheduled time frame!!!!! I called back stating they didn't need to come anymore because I was already at work and told that guy on the phone that I've spoken to Brittany twice and gave her specific instructions and basically told the dude I don't know if they lack communication between technicians and the front desk people but this is not cool. I didn't get an apology at all... All he asked me was if I wanted to reschedule. ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS??!! I said no and to have them give my landlord a call cuz he will be asking for a refund from them. DO NOT USE THISS COMPANY you will be wasting your time and energy and money. read more

On Friday evening, November 10th 2017, my furnace stopped. I called ARS, who was my selected HVAC service provider, at 9 pm for emergency service and was assured that a technician would call back. At 11:30, I called again and was assured that a technician would call back with an estimated time of arrival. I called a third time at 6:30 am the next morning only to be told that the office would open at 8 am and someone would be in touch with me at that time (It did not occur.). I cannot recommend ARS as a reliable service provider. read more

I had a TERRIBLE experience with this company today. I had an appointment that was scheduled 3 weeks ago for an inspection of my heating and cooling system. I was told they would arrive some time between 7-12. In order to accommodate this appointment, I took a half day off. At 10:54, I received a call stating that they would need to reschedule my appointment due to too many emergency calls. So I guess I don't matter!! The fact that I burnt vacation hours to be courteous and be present means nothing to this company. How they can just call someone in the last hour and tell them they need to reschedule is beyond all comprehension. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! read more

I never leave reviews, good or bad. If there were negative stars, I would give that to ARS Manassas. 1. I have cameras in my house and when it seemed like the technician was taking a long time, I looked on my camera in the kitchen. The technician (right in front of the camera) picked up the bottles of medication on my counter and started looking at each bottle...then he stared looking through my cabinets. I called and requested a manager and didn't explain the incident to any of the employees because I know how rumors get around. I sent the clip to the manager. I received a sorry you had a bad experience basket of fruit. I proceeded to purchase an alarm system because the technician knew where I lived. I have the video clip. 2. The next incident I had dealt with my generator. I had it serviced. A few days later, it wasn't working at all so I contacted the service technician and he ordered parts. This was in October before my warranty was up. I called and asked about the parts and was told they were on order. I called again several weeks later, and "oh the parts should be here unless we put them on another generator." I called again and then around the five month, I was told the parts were in. Understand, the warranty with ARS was up and I received a $310.00. 3. I have a yearlong service agree with ARS, I needed a plumber to come out. "He will be there between 12 pm and 4 pm. I left work at 11 pm. At 4:05 pm, I called and asked if the plumber was going to be there. "Yes, he would be there and he would call me soon." No call and at 6:13 pm, 8:16 pm and each time I was told I would receive a call from the technician. During one call, I was told traffic was bad, which around here is understandable but I looked at the traffic app and all roads were green (plus there are several ways to my residence that don't run into any traffic. I understand things may happen during a service call but as a customer I do expect to be notified if you are going to be late. Calling is common courtesy. ARS expects me to be there when the technician arrives or they would leave. Nothing like feeling like a hostage in your own home. At 9:45 pm, I called and told them not to bother. I get up at 4 am every day and needed to go to sleep. I did request a call from a manager. Again, I had to call them to speak to a manager or customer service and I had to leave a message. This was Jun 1 and almost two weeks later and no call. I had a service appointment. I cancelled that and I am probably out the rest of my money I paid for year which was going ensure me of great service. I the long run it is probably worth the money I know loner have. Dupee Plumbing was out when they said they would be and called to let me know they were on the way. read more

These guys are horrible. They have been out 5-6 times to fix my AC and each time the repair doesn't last long and the next guy comes out and says it's a whole different problem. The most recent was to replace a circuit board on my compressor. They quoted $1,428 parts and labor. I asked how much the part was and the woman on the phone said she didn't know. I asked for a more detailed quote. She called back in 5 minutes and said part was $800 and the supervisor told her they would only charge for the part. I looked online and the most expensive board I saw was only $330. Clearly if they can cut the price that much in 5 minutes, the pricing is BS. Called back in early evening to give them all my contact info again, this time operator said someone would definitely call before 10 p.m. Home with phone all day waiting with no A/C: No call, and no tech. Finally got call back 11 a.m. next day, operator claimed tech had stopped by on Friday, and that they had tried to call me three times. Right. read more

I've used these folks for an annual Spring and Fall inspection of my heating/cooling system since about 2013. I've renewed the contract every year because I was impressed with their performance. However, I will not renew my contract this year based on my recent experience with them. The fall inspection of my system occurred this week. This is a little late to need but I could have called them earlier and not waited for them to call me. I have come to understand that while their technician does a thorough review and surface cleaning of the system, the real intent of the service call is to try and generate more business by telling me all the "things you should do to care for the system." This time it was three services totalling $1375. Usually, the technician simply tells me what those are and the cost, I decline and initial the sheet and we get done. The young technician who arrived this week was overly animated and aggressive. He was determined to go into detail on what and why, and when I told him I was not interested for the fourth time, he told me I didn't need to be so hostile. I never raised my voice or did anything approaching "hostile" to this young man. He then tried to intimate a threat of carbon monoxide poisoning. (I have carbon monoxide monitors throughout my house). I finally asked him to get his equipment and leave my house and thanked him for his time. I will find a new vendor to perform my spring/fall system inspections, but it won't be one with such aggressive "generate more business" employees. read more

joe Michalski of ARS helped by making the best of a bad situation with a failed blower from a 1 year old Carrier system that completely replaced a failed 7 year old Carrier system. He was professional and got the job done quickly with the new part the next day. I am still quite dissatisfied that I should have had to pay ANYTHING but that is the type of company Carrier is. A system should last much longer that 7 years. Even the replaced system's blower still worked unlike my new system's blower. Bad news for Carrier and their customers. read more

They bumped me from a PM that was planned for 4 weeks which cost me a vacation day to stay home and wait on them. I talked to two people including management and frankly they didn't care about my time and refused to come service my unit. read more

About 3 weeks ago our air condition stopped working - right in the middle of the heatwave. It was a Saturday. I call ARS they give me appointment for the following Monday between 4 and 8 pm. Anyway, the technician showed up around 8:30. The technician first wanted to seen the inside unit. He opened the unit and start taking picture of inside the heat chamber. I told him we need cold air not heat. But all he was concerned with was to tell me how old the unit is and you need a new one. He spent all his time on things that were totally un-related to the problem he was supposed to resolve. Anyway after he was done with the inside unit he went to check the outside unit, I was with him all the time. When he checked the outside unit - there as no power. He checked the fuses and replaced one of the fuses and I saw the fans inside the unit moved a little. But he is telling me that the unit is burned and try to convince me that he was smelling the burning smell. During the time I went to write him a check, he had gone back and put in the bad fuse back in so the air condition remain disabled. I gave him the check and made appointment for the next day so someone from his company will come and give the estimate for a new HAVC system. The next morning wanted to try something before I meet with the sales person - I went to home depot and bought two new fuses for under $4 and when I replace them the air condition started to work and it is still working fine. read more
