Stay away! I don't know if they're targeting seniors or everyone but they offer you a $29 check up on your unit then a salesman comes out looks over your unit shows you pictures supposedly of your unit and tells us there are several things that are wrong and it's gonna cost over $13,000 to fix it . Then of course says but it would be cheaper to replace it and they give free estimates for replacement so we called our regular guy who came out and said first of all you're under #Warranty he looked at everything. The only thing that needed to be done was cleaning of the coil and he said I could've sold you two air conditioners for the price they wanted to fix this!!! stay away from this company. Paid for an inspection despite multiple requests for a copy of the inspection I paid for yet they do not provide. All it is was I had to pay to be added to a sales pipeline. I work Monday through Friday just trying to make ends meet, and I have a 2-year-old at home. Having AC isn't a luxury where I live it's a necessity. I wish I would've checked out ARS / Rescue Rooter before I committed to have them replace my AC through Home Depot two years ago. It's been almost two weeks since the diagnosed a part under warranty. The appointment was scheduled between 8-noon yesterday to replace the condenser coils. I never received a text update to say when they would be here. I had to call at 1:30, 330, at 5:30 when they finally said we can reschedule you. Not great customer service like they say when you call them. I also had to pay upfront as well. Said leaking valve and I need to replace whole system. 15k. Then said let me check the other air handler just to see and take pictures for part numbers etc. I said go ahead. Tech leaves and sends sales guy to give hour long sale on why I need 15k new system. .. Said no i will get second opinion. Other company comes in says I need to change the valve 1800 dollars. I was confused and frustrated of course but then I remembered that guy went and said he needed to take "pictures" of my other air handler. So i go check it and he messed with my float cut off valve. I scheduled for them to come out and tune my AC that they installed in a 10-2 window they had not shown up by 3:30 and said it would be another hour but I could reschedule. I rescheduled for today in the 10-2 window again and called multiple times and as the window again came and went and was told they would be there around 5 pm .... 3hrs late and now they just called to say they needed to cancel and reschedule for next week. They installed my a/c a couple years ago and paid monthly for a contract so when my unit stopped I called them. My son used to take care of this for me but he died suddenly in Jan. I am 78 and my husband has dementia. we are on Social Security. it was a clogged drain and I was charged $583.00. I thought it was too much and told the tech but didn't know what to do. I paid it and then google searched only to find that repair usually costs between $70 to $150. I called ARS complained about the amt and asked that they advise the mgr and askedfor a partial refund. I had called a different company for a yearly service and when they arrived, they located mold on my handler. They were very aggressive and pushed us to sign with them immediately for a new system. We decided to get a second opinion and I'm so glad I did. Simon from ARS came to my home and looked over my system and made some suggestions. Simon was great and took his time explaining every aspect of the process and what we could expect. He was respectful of my home and time and very pleasant to work with. He reviewed the warranties and guarantees the company offered. Explained all their techs are drug tested and have background checks, which, I have to say I was really glad about it because I've had problems in the past. Once we decided to go with them, they got everything set up, and even though it was way after 5 o'clock ( they were assisting me until around 8) to help me set up my appointment for the very next morning. Mike and Hunter showed up on time and ready to work. Both very respectful and they got right to work. They made sure to do everything possible to keep my home clean and free of damage. They cleaned up after themselves and left my house exactly how they found it. They even helped me set up the app for my new thermostat and told me what filters we needed to use, how often to change them and how to keep our system clean to help give it a longer life. I would definitely return to them if I ever needed to a replace my AC unit again and highly recommend them. It has been nothing but a positive experience from start to finish. read more

This is such a dishonest company. I wish i had known before i paid the fee for them to come "investigate" (or whatever) the problem. A guy came, so clean, from another call. He took about five minutes. He did not even use a ladder even though my unit is on the second floor outside. He supposedly looked at my unit and determined the problem was too far gone for repair but emphatically recommended a replacement. He quoted me a cost to replace coolant that was 5000 (more actually but i can't remember exactly) ... and told me that i needed to replace the unit. He emphasized that they would finance the new unit. He stood OVER me and insisted I pay for the service call and then immediately put me on the phone with a "comfort" associate or something. I had to say no. i was clear and direct that i could not replace the unit so they made repair so expensive I could not do it. The whole thing was like being bullied. The guy intimidated me on purpose. I am old, live alone and didn't have any option so i PAID the extortion fee. And then went without air for ten days. The OTHER company I called just left. They replaced my coolant for $250 and the air is perfect. This is a scam, a ripoff, a dishonest company. DON'T use them. They are just rip off artists. I don 't know how that service tech sleeps at night. I had my ac replaced, they were real responsive and quick to call when trying to sell me an ac. The sales man told me to speak to the installer to have my return filters placed outside with the handler. He was asked by me multiple times if a new ac will fix the back of my house not cooling down. I set up my install appt and asked about the filter change location, she says oh no thats an additional $700+. First red flag. Then install day comes, they were real nice, I told them the fuse blows about 2x's a month for the outside unit. They get it installed & tell me the breaker fuse is replaced to a smaller one and problem should be solved. First night, fuse blows. 2nd night fuse blows, & the back of the house will not cool down & I assume cause the fuse keeps blowing. I call ARS the next morning. They are sending someone out that next night(Friday). Friday comes & I am rescheduled because they do not have a technician in my area, Saturday comes, rescheduled again to Monday. Monday tech comes and tells me I need all new duct work and thats why the back of the house won't cool down, He looks at something the installers plugged in and assumed that was draining the power causing the fuse to blow. He unplugs it and no more issues. Well I wanna speak to someone on the duct problem because I was guaranteed a new unit would fix the issue. The tech says his boss will reach out. Week goes by.. nothing. I called the next week & complained & they say okay yeah a manager will call you. by next week still no call. I call again & told again manager will call. No call, I call another company and they tell me all ducts need replaced. My husband now calls ARS. He gets me a call back that day. They are sending their duct guy out tomorrow (Friday). He says rehanging and some reworking and my ac should cool the back of house. he will get me a call by Monday. I call him Tuesday, he says someone will reach out. They left my new electric panel unfinished, many problems with system and every tech saying the issue was something else and someone else would have to come back to fix it and ARS not sending someone. DO NOT USE this company. We setup a tune up for our A/C unit as it is only two years old from a representative at Lowe's. Our scheduled appointment was from 8 to noon on Monday. The tech was a no-show but we got a text from ARS that they needed to reschedule to Tuesday for the same time window. Tuesday the tech was a no-show again with no communication. Wednesday morning comes and there was text that the tech will be out again from 8 to noon. Again, not in the window but they mentioned that they can be in the windows of noon to 4. I agreed as I would not be home but my wife would be. Our unit is two years old and the unit needed a cleaning and tune up. The unit worked fine with the cold air being pushed throughout our home. In the late afternoon I talked with my wife that the tech said the unit needed condenser coils and capacitor which would cost over $900. The tech tried to pressure my wife into the repairs, but my wife said she needed to talk it over with me and the tech got visibly upset. The wife said the A/C is working fine and needed the tune up and she will let him know and put the unit back together. The tech again showed his frustration while putting the unit back together. As the tech got into his vehicle my wife noticed on our Google Nest that we had an error message which hardly ever happens. My wife had to run the tech down to have him take care of the error and make sure the unit was fixed. Today we called to have another tech come out as we thought it might have been the techs inexperience on the job. We now got a call that the tech from last week recommended the repairs mentioned and a tech would not come out unless we agreed to the repairs. I said we will get another company that does not break units so they can make money. The customer service person said she would let her manager know. Again, do not use this company as they do not stand by there work and even return the units back before they worked on them. I did see the techs get compensation for work and products completed. July 8th we have a tech come to our house it inspect a unit that is under warranty. He advises it is the compressor motor, it will be $700 to fix under warranty and to pay 10% down. Fast forward to July 18th, I have not heard a word from them, so I call, they explain the part is in, they will have someone at my house to install it on Friday July 19th. I repeatedly explain that is NOT an option as I will not be available to let the tech in my house. The rather rude gentleman advises me he will have the tech at my house FIRST thing Monday morning... Well here it is 4:03pm on Monday, and NO ONE is here yet. I have called ARS 4 times since 11:40am ish, only to blown off repeatedly.. I was only expecting to take off PART of the day today, now I have missed an entire shift.. Does anyone think ARS will PAY me for the hours lost today? UPDATE - ARS called me for today's appointment at 11:17am, they tell me they will be at the house in 45 minutes to an hour, they arrived at 12:34pm, this resulted in me missing even more time from work. I paid $744 for a warranty repair that took less then 2 hours to complete, $372 an hour for quick math. Now ARS responded to my Google review asking me to call a phone number with a missing digit. In Oviedo, FL We paid $19 through Home Depot for a 25 point A/C maintenance. The tech came out and this is what we got: Technician came a little after the promised window and did not call ahead. It started to rain. He said he cannot open the outside unit in the rain, which made sense, so he stood there and waited for it to stop raining. Once it stopped raining, he said he can't open the unit when it's wet (well then, why just stand there and wait for it to stop raining?), so he left and said he would call to schedule a return. We're still waiting. I want a tech to come out and actually DO the 25-point maintenance, but I DO NOT want the technician that came out last time. Here's a breakdown of the 25 points and what he did: 1. Visually inspect and test capacitors for leakage and rust Outside-did not do. 2. Inspect readily accessible ducts for obvious leaks Went up toward the attic and stood there on the ladder for 30 seconds or less. Never left the ladder. 3. Complete operations sequence check Did not do. 4. Check crankouse heater for proper operation Did not do. 5. Inspection of air filtration system Changed the filter with another one I had on hand. 6. Inspect blower wheel Somewhat. Only removed the front cover of the air handler. 7. Inspect blower motor and record amp draw (lubricate as needed) Never touched a single piece of test equipment. 8. Replacement of filter provided by customer while on site of inspection Did this!! Yay!! 9. Inspect unit wiring and electrical disconnect, tighten loose wiring Did not do. DID point at the wiring at the top of the air handler and point out mildew on the wires. 10. Check thermostat I had specifically mentioned that our biggest issue was not being able to reduce the humidity below the 70's percent. He said "Yeah. That's common in Florida." I think he DID lift the front plate off and immediately put it back on. Did not say anything about the hole for the wires being open to the wall interior. Did not check anything. 11. Tighten screw lug terminals in condensing unit Did not do. 12. Inspect contactor for pits and burns Did not do. 13. Check and record amp draw of condenser motor and compressor to manufacturer's specifications Did not do. 14. Inspect fan blade for cracks or defects Did not do. 15. Check condenser motor hearings Did not do. 16. Inspect indoor coil If accessible Did not do. 17. Inspect any condensate drain pans and drains for proper operation, clean drain pan Did not do. I told him the drain keeps backing up and he gave me some tips on how to keep it clean. 18. Check and record operating pressures and temperatures to manufactures specifications Did not do. 19. Inspect and water wash outdoor unit (does not include detergent) Did not do. 20. Check refrigerant level Did not do. 21. Inspect cooling system tor unusual vibration or loose parts Did not do. 22. I went to Home Depot and was approached by a man, wearing a Home Depot apron, at the entrance. He asked me about my HVAC system, and would I be interested in having ARS Rescue perform a 25 point inspection for $19.00; twice a year service after that would be x (I don't remember the amount). I said yes, however, I had HVAC serviced 4 months earlier, but had to call them every year to schedule service. I would prefer to have them call me with a reminder to schedule. His response was "ARS Rescue does that". I scheduled a day and time for service, and I received a reminder and name of tech on the scheduled day; I also received a text when tech was on the way. I was impressed with the tech, he was polite, knowledgeable, and professional; he then informed me that he had left his tools/equipment at his previous job and would reschedule for the next day (Saturday). The next day I had a meeting at 9:00AM and we agreed to meet at the house after 11:00AM. During my meeting, at 9:45 AM, my wife called me to tell me a different tech from the day before, was at our home. I was not happy, a different tech showed up 2 hours early, and I could not be there. I did allow him to continue was later told that my 5 year old capacitator was rusted and needed to be replaced, $600.00, but he would contact his supervisor to lower the price to $500.00. He did say the capacitator was working, but could go out anytime and would cost more for emergency repair. I told him to replace it. After I got home, I researched the cost, and the average cost by a licensed professional is $175.00-$250.00, including labor and maintenance service would be $400-$600, my service was not an "EMERGENCY"! read more

They came to clean the coils and drained the line & charge $1400. This should have been maybe a $500 charge after check-in comps in the area. when we called to complain for three days. Don't be fooled by the guy in the Home Depot apron standing inside your local Home Depot like the one I was lied to in New Smyrna Beach, FL. They are NOT Home Depot employees. They are on commission by American Residential Services (ARS) that blatantly lies to your face by offering a "TUNE UP" on your home HVAC system for $29.95. I fell for it and found there is nothing involving a "tune up". The guy comes, takes the cover off then fiddles with some electronic device and "poof" all done thanks for the payment...and gone. Then get ready for weekly calls from ARS representatives that are mostly third party call centers like the scammers selling the elderly ways to invest their money offering the IDENTICAL SERVICE all over again! I had it done 2 months ago and they call me every week offering the same $29.95 "TUNE UP" that I already got from them! Today was call number 5 from some guy named "Bob". Just like all the previous sales calls I was once again promised to be put on their DO NOT CALL list. It didn't stop the last 4 calls so obviously the promise of removal is a scam. But I did confirm from "Bob" that he worked hourly for a third party cold call company hired by ARS although he would not identify the company. The caller ID was always the same number of 407-630-7765 which is routed to their call center somewhere around Orlando I suspect. At that number I spoke with "Daniel". He also promised to request me put on their DO NOT CALL list (that would now be the 6th request) but he also claimed he was sending an email to his General Manager who he would not identify nor give me the email address. I threatened to file a complaint with the Florida AG office, so he claimed he would include that in his email. Quite frankly, I don't believe it. All I can say is think twice before using this company for anything and be very wary of anyone offering services while standing by the entrance inside Home Depot. ARS Installed my HVAC last July 2021. Inspection was only scheduled last November 16 and ARS failed so miserably (see attached photo). Some failed items are too basic that I don't understand why their "professional" installers missed it. (hint: maybe not professional at all) ARS sent another "professional" technician to "fix" the issues last December 2. After the work, the tech told me he don't have the correct sticker and he will come back within the same week to attach the new sticker to the air handler unit. Guess what happened? He didn't come back. ARS scheduled another appointment to bring the sticker today, December 22, 2021. They gave me a window of arrival from 9am to 1pm. At the time of this review, 3:08pm, technician hasn't arrive. Take note that this whole freaking appointment is just to stick a sticker to the air handler. I gave them multiple calls, same excuses, the technician is not done yet with with prior installation. ARS has no respect for people's time. If you promised 9am to 1pm, come on time and I don't care if you have to move mountain to be on time, JUST BE ON TIME for crying out loud. That's what professionals do. HOME DEPOT, if you are reading this review, it's about time to get rid of ARS from your list of service providers. read more

Terrible communication. I had an 8am-noon window appt. Noon arrived and no one showed up or called to even say "hey I'm running late". I had to initiated the call and they had the dispatcher call me back. He told me he was short on techs and I still had 2 people ahead of me. Then he proceed to ask what was wrong with my AC, I explained the same thing I explained to the rep who scheduled the appointment. Then he said, "oh you need such in such service and I'm not servicing that today and it would be $189 plus parts and not the $49 quoted". I called back to the main line and they had another/or the same dispatcher call me back. He waived the $189 diagnostic fee, and said I would only pay for the service and or parts. So the technician showed up around 1:45-2pm. He was great, got everything going and gave me some pointers on how to maintain it. the tech said that I would get a copy of the invoice emailed to me. He had to take the ticket back to the office and let the office people handle that. Two days later I was double charged, my card was ran twice and I never got an email invoice or receipt. I called back and they transferred me to accounting. The accountant saw the double charge. She said she will put in the refund and also email me the invoice and receipt. I confirmed the email. So We shall see. ALSO: one of the Mangers gave me a call a day after the service was done stating she had a note to call me. She was supposed to call me the day of service, which was a Sunday. She told me that she don't work on Sunday's so she returned my call on Monday. *When I called today to inquiry about the double charge, the rep said in my notes The Manager put down that she spoke with me and resolved the matter! Now I'm scratching my head, because if she don't work on Sunday's and the issue was on a Sunday, What did she resolve?....NOTHING! read more

I wish I could give a negative star rating. I had ARS install a new HVAC system July, 2023. My first service visit in January, 2024 was great. I'm selling my home and the inspection uncovered an issue. I called to schedule an appointment to diagnose it. I was informed it was not a warranty issue since it had been longer than 12 months and it would be $109.00 to diagnose. I was not happy but said fine, it has to be done. I also requested an estimate to deal with a duct work issue while the technician was here. My appointment was scheduled for between 10 am and 2 pm yesterday. As of 5 pm I hadn't heard anything so I called. They apologized and said someone would be here between 6 and 7 pm. I called again and was told it was actually between 6 and 9. Again, a no show. I called back after 10 pm and was told a complaint would be filed and Orlando Dispatch would call me back. I did get a call saying the technician was stuck on a call. I asked to reschedule for today since it was so late. They confirmed 10 to 2 today for my, once again, rescheduled appointment. I called this morning to confirm they were still coming as I had not received an email confirmation. They assured me I was on the schedule for between 10 and 2 today, and Dispatch would call me with an eta for the technician. At 4:10 pm today I called again and was ​told the agent was emailing the Quality Assurance team in Orlando. The agent said they were good at responding so I should receive a call soon. It is now 10:22 pm and I still have not received a call. I told them repeatedly not getting this inspection finding resolved could jeopardize the sale of my home, but obviously nobody there cares. Worst company ever please beware choose another company. We called for service because are Thermostat stop getting power. They sent a repair man out Ernesto Gonzalez on 08/15/2024 he said it was bad circuit board and need to be replaced. So he explained the price and part and it would be %15 down to order part and it could possibly get here the next day or Saturday. We called Friday and to check no parts . They always lie to you and say the parts department will call you which you never get a call back. Today 08/20/2024 I get a text that Ernesto Gonzalez has been dispatched and is headed your way. The appointment was suppose to be from 8am-12pm. Ernesto Gonzales never showed up. When we called to check they said we are not coming we don't have the part. We call asked to speak to a supervisor to try to get the issue resolved they refuse to put a supervisor on the phone. We asked for refund so we can call another company they refuse to refund. This has been the worst experience especially deal with not having AC in Florida at this time of year. Update 08/20/2024 We called another company to come take a look at issue low and behold the service technician Ernesto was wrong about the issue the circuit board is fine it was the condensation pump that was bad. Now I know why he didn't want to comeback today when he was dispatched because he never really knew what the actual problem was and almost had us shove out a thousand dollars for a part that was not the problem. I do not recommend this company. I wish we read Yelp reviews before.They sell something totally different from what it really is, they promise everything and in fact it's all a lie. They sold it to my husband for $12,700 and after almost a year of the house still being hot they tell us to pay an extra $750 for duct work that at the time was understood that it was part of the package!!! You took advantage of our family, the seller came in here, we were receptive and closed the deal, but the truth is that the seller is trained to sell this lie, everything they say is included is a lie, after you buy, you have to pay for everything... One of the worst companies I've ever dealt with in my entire life. Incorrect part installed more than once, fighting to get 'in writing' warranties honored, one technician diagnosing a problem just for another to show up randomly at the door, without an appointment, to rediagnose and disassemble entire unit! (They apparently either didn't trust first tech or didn't want to honor warranty...either way just as bad) Then, when we had an appointment, they'd often show up very late or not at all, with no calls letting us know. The "quality control" that they pass off as customer service is a joke. To top it off, techs would say we had a leak (always in a different location). Refrigerant wasn't under warranty and expensive. If I could give the Sanford/Orlando branch a negative number I would. The company wanted to charge me $534.00 to clean an AC drain line. When I indicated I'm out on that, the price suddenly became $350 which is still too high. I reluctantly asked them to proceed since they were already there. I have typically paid around $200 for the same service. Ten days later it was backed up again. (A good cleaning will typically last 4-6 months.) I called and they said they would come back and re-perform the cleaning. When I received a call to meet the technician, I headed out to the home. When I got there, the technician was not there. I received no further contact after that. I later called and requested a refund. After multiple calls over several days, I finally received a call from Jennifer who is over "quality assurance". She informed me that there would be no refund for the service. She took the position that they showed up the first time and performed the service regardless of the final result or the fact that the technician failed to meet me at the home for the scheduled follow up.
