Hobo's Cafe was recommended to us by a local dive shop after a morning of snorkeling, and we're…read moreglad we took their advice. We were seated right away with no wait, and it had the feel of a small local restaurant instead of a tourist trap. I had the mahi mahi tacos, and my wife had the lobster and shrimp po'boy. Both were excellent, and the portions were generous. If you go, don't skip the crab and artichoke dip--it was easily the best appetizer we had on our trip. The food had that authentic Keys flavor that makes you feel like you're eating where the locals do. We sat outside on the covered patio, and the fans kept it comfortable even in the Florida heat. Prices were a little higher than some other places we visited, and our fountain drinks from the outdoor bar were a bit flat, but that's something I've noticed at a lot of outdoor bar setups. Overall, the food, atmosphere, and local charm made it well worth the stop, and we'd definitely come back.

Food is good. Service not so much. We've been coming to Key Largo for many years, Hobos as well…read more The food is good. But the past few times, service was lacking. Not sure if it's because we are a large party 10 or more, or what? Our last visit was a Sunday evening in early July . We ate outside. Waiter was good at getting water out to everyone. But when it came to drink orders we must have waited 15-20 minutes for him to take our drink orders. I had to ask him to take my appetizer order. We had to ask several times for our drinks - soft drinks- not alcoholic. They were not good at cleaning our dirty appetizer plates away after delivering dinner leaving the table crowded. I think what I found most annoying was watching our server and another server standing around while we were waiting for drinks, for order taking, for refills, etc. There was just no attention being paid to us. Maybe the guy was new? Not sure. The restaurant wasn't very busy so that wasn't the excuse. I've heard it's difficult to get good help in the Keys. Cost a lot to live here. Most commute from Homestead. Anyway- good for the food - don't expect great service. Ironically I did over tip. I was a server in college so I try to be generous.

AWFUL customer service. I called around 11 AM on a weekday to place a pickup order and was met with…read moreunnecessarily curt and rude service on the phone. We ordered five wraps and a sandwich, but were informed that an 18% gratuity would automatically be added due to the "large order." This was actually two separate orders placed together for convenience--should we have just called twice instead? Regardless, we agreed to the charge. When I arrived to pick up the order, it took twice as long as the time we were told on the phone, resulting in a lot of waiting. The in-person service was also brusque and unfriendly. To top it off, the food was incorrect: the mini Cuban sandwiches were turkey instead of the pork advertised on the menu. Why an automatic gratuity charge was added to a pickup order was already surprising, but I could have possibly overlooked that had the service not been so unpleasant and the food had been true to what was advertised on the menu. Sadly, I can't recommend this place and won't be returning, not even for pickup. It felt like they were annoyed to have any orders at all. With the service they exhibited, I'm honestly shocked they're still in business.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could! Amazing place that's been on Diners drive in's and dives so we had to check it out…read more It's a very nice place that has a bar and an open dining area for families. We were quite joy greeted and given colors for our little to keep her occupied. We ordered espresso martinis to start and they were quite good. We then ordered the catch of the day which was yellowtail and the house salad. I highly recommend ordered the house dressing. Absolutely amazing! My daughter ordered the bambinos spaghetti and are it all! We had to get the gelato because - it's gelato and wow did it pack a flavor.

Amanda was bar tending and is always attentive, even when the bar is overly full. I am raving about the chicken breast stuffed with buratta cheese, spinach and prosciutto cheese. It's in a lemon wine sauce that is to die for! It's on the "specials" menu, so I don't know how long it will be available. It's a huge portion and would be a nice dinner to share, especially if you have an appetizer. My friends were raving about the green beans in garlic butter sauce. It's also offered as a special side. It has been lively sitting at the bar, which was perfect for my birthday and for New Years Eve. Tonight, Friday happy hour, was pretty chill. Perfect to hang with friends and enjoy!

Friendly, attentive, and the kind of service that makes a meal feel more relaxed. Good energy from the start. We ordered a lot, so here is the full breakdown. The miso soup was exactly what miso soup should be. Simple, warm, and good. No surprises. The green salad was basic. Big chunks of lettuce that I would have preferred a little more finely cut, but it was refreshing and grew on me as I kept eating it throughout the meal. The spider roll was a highlight. Light, clean, and did not leave that heavy feeling you sometimes get from rolls that are overdone. It felt like a healthier version of what you usually find and that is a compliment. The lemonade was genuinely good. Flavorful and not overly sweet. Worth ordering. The combo platter came with a shrimp roll, an egg roll, and a fried dumpling. The shrimp roll was the standout, fat juicy shrimp with a sweet chili sauce that worked well. The egg roll tasted good and the dumpling was solid, though a little light on the filling inside. Still enjoyable. The shrimp pad see ew was really good. Nice shrimp, good sauce, well executed. The beef fried rice had solid flavor and did not feel heavy or oily, which matters more than people give it credit for. Overall Num Thai delivered a genuinely enjoyable meal. We will be back.
