I am currently @ this restaurant and i have a clear view of the area next to the cashier. The counter where the food comes out from the kitchen. I have been observing the waitresses collect the unfinished salsa from the newly employ tables. They collect the salsa that was on a table and either pour into a less full salsa container and send it to the next table or they simply just 'em remove the salsa from one table and give it to the next customer. Keep in mind the container is open and the spoon is not even switched. Ugh. The people on the table speak over the salsa and cough o we it and laugh over it. Gross!!! Please be aware!!! read more

I've been patronizing this restaurant for years and for some reason never left a review. My favorite are the omelettes and chilaquiles so delicious. I have only used the drive thru and never dined in so I can't review the inside of the restaurant. My order is always correct and the staff is extremely friendly. I've been here twice and each time i've came i've had great experiences. Both times we were attended quick. They took our orders and brought out quick. Their breakfast is pretty good, i've tasted a little better but for the pricing and fast service, they deserve five stars. The employees are also cheerful in the mornings. I always venture through the drive thru and the consistency of customer service is not fluid. Sometimes the man (typically the same older man) is pleasant and sometimes I'm asked "what do you want? What do you want?" This seems to be his type of personality but sometimes it's off putting. Now to the food. Flavor profile is of a hole in the wall type food. Butter in potatoes but not too much. Eggs are cooked as asked (none of the nasty white film-ewwww), and their beans are super tasty. However, their meat seems to be tough and dry. When I come to Arthur's, I know it's nothing spectacular, but it's better than Sams which is across the street It's not the best breakfast but it is decent. read more

I hate to give out bad reviews and many times I prefer not to give a review. For that reason I'm going to avoid calling names. The place is less than moderate. It's a place I was willing to try, and I was very disappointed. Despite the fact that I was denied a booth table and waited for more than 30 minutes after being seated while they took orders from newcomers, the waitress was very rude when asked when we would be served. I will not say more but regardless of how good the food may be if I'm paying I want the service. To show my disappointment, I asked for the bill, paid 4 coffees and left. Waitress did not even ask if I may want something else. She Said OK!!! I've never eaten there and never will. I suppose they have to much business to consider, my party of four would make any difference. read more

This spot used to be a favorite breakfast spot of mine! Now I probably won't ever eat there again. Today we called in an order. The guy on the phone was really nice. When we arrived we didn't want to go inside and we went to the drive through. The guy on the intercom asked what we wanted and I said we had a phone order . Then he asked if we had the Santa Fe omelette in our order and we said yes the one with no avocado. So I said okay then I started to pull forward and he asked what else we had in our order. I started repeating my whole order again and he made it sound like he either was talking to someone else or was annoyed that I was repeating the order. I ordered a Santa Fe omelette with no avocado, A BLT, an eggs with toast but no bacon, and a vegetarian burrito with (just potatoes,eggs, cheese, and salsa). Not only did we have to wait over 40 minutes for my phone order that they said would take 10 minutes but when we got home it was all wrong!!! AND WE TIPPED $10 for a to go order!! My dad ate his omelette.My friends order ended up having 2 hairs in her eggs! She threw hers away! I took one bite into my VEGETARIAN burrito and pulled out a piece of beef from my mouth! I threw mine away!! My other friend didn't eat her blt because she was grossed out about the hairs!! I'm absolutely disgusted and not to mention disappointed we all spent money and only 1 out of 4 actually ate!!! The food was good but when my friend got toward the end of the meal she found a small paper tag from clothing in her food. The waitress had already brought our bill. My friend told her about the tag and they comped her for her meal but then added a charge for the gravy that was not on the original bill. Sad thing is we eat there fairly regularly. Another time I really wish Yelp had half stars. This review would be 3.5. The only thing holding this place back from being a 4 star place is their prices. It seems like every time I come here their prices increase. If that is the case or not they are kinda pricey. I get the whole History of the place (I'm a long time Pico resident) and I understand they need to make money but with so many good breakfast places around here I would think they can do much better if they lowered their prices some. I guess when your only open a few hours out of the day they need to squeeze everything they can out of us. One of my favorite Breakfast Spot for Years....! I mean like 30 years of coming here and this is the first time I'm walking away not satisfied but it's not the Food the food is Super Bomb but today me and my best Friend "Comedian Pat Gallegos" called in an order for 2 Sausage Breakfast Burrito's and while on the way decided we wanted some of their bomb coffee so on arriving we told them we had a Togo order but wanted to stay and eat and the waitress looked like she saw a ghost, I paid for my food and sat down at the counter trying to order a coffee but never got the chance because the drive through guy came and told us "you can't eat that here!!!!" I looked up at him with a very surprised face and he said "don't get mad you just can't eat that here!!! You ordered Togo!!!" Then he rolls his eyes and says "fine I'll let you eat here this time" and walks away. I was like "WTF!!!!" I had no idea what had just happen I was very confused then we looked around and people were like WTH!!! We felt so belittled by his approach that we got up and left. Now don't get me wrong, I get it if there some type of policy that people can't eat to go food if they decide to dine in, but he didn't have to put us on the spot in front of everybody like that, it was very embarrassing. The wife's first impression as we settled in our communal booth (expect to share seating in certain areas) was the feeling of being at some roadside diner in the south. Food was cheap, hot, fresh and the coffee kept coming. Being new parents, reading the reviews describing the lack of space, we expected a logistics nightmare but the staff here was very accommodating & welcoming to our little biscuit nibbler. +1 for Downey hospitality. read more

"I want a Quicky from Arthur" my gf said. "Uh...WAH?!?" I replied when I woke up and saw my gf peering over me as I had crashed on her couch from partying the night before. Apparently this is a great breakfast spot and has been THE spot for years and years. We got there around 10ish and it was a packed house. Their menu is rather extensive and the portions were HUMUNGO. My gf never really ate dine-in and mentioned she'd order from home and picked up at the drive-thru window. Apparently you can only go thru the drive thru window if you phone in your order. They don't have a speaker box for you to order and wait for your food. She normally got a "Quicky" breakfast. There are different numbered quickies, which are smaller portions of breakfast ranging from $3-$5. Yep, dirt cheap. Only thing is if you order after 9AM, there's a surcharge. You also have to ask the waitress for the Quicky menu if u come later. I had the biscuits which were good but kinda reminded me of the Pillsbury biscuits you get in the freezer aisle. My pancakes were fluffy and chorizo and eggs were deelish, wished I had more chorizo though! The salsa they had with the eggs were to die for! I loved it! We split an extra order of potatoes o'brien and they were good but not as crispy as I hoped for, I'll ask for well done next time. 3 words can best describe "Arthur's"....An overpriced dump. I'm a local and I had heard wonders about this place, so I decided to pay them a visit. First off, as soon as I got there, I was assigned a dirty table with crumbs all over the seat and table, not cool!! Whatever happened to "Cleanliness is next to Godliness?" I'm guessing they didn't get that memo. Second, the dinning space is very small, almost "clustered" together and their parking is always a problem. Third but not least, their food is ridiculously overpriced. My breakfast came out to 23 BUCKS!! My breakfast included: An omelette (build your own) a dollar extra per additional topping. Their famous "orange juice" and a cup of coffee. I feel as the place is too pricey and not worth it. Only good thing about the place is the service, the waitress was very attentive. read more

The omelet ($11.50) tasted just like something I could of got at Denny's for $7. The potatoes were mushy. The coffee was downright crap. And I didn't trust the strawberry and marmalade that was on the table. And for the icing on the cake, they charged me a fee for using my debit card. A place that charges high end prices for average product, and then fleeces your wallet with a transaction fee... Outrageous. All right, I'm just gonna get down to it: I really like this place. They normally deserve 5 Stars, but I'll explain why I'm withholding a point in a bit. We'll start off with the good stuff: - Their potatoes are well seasoned and quite good if you are the type of person who likes softer potatoes. That's not a complaint: bigger is better! - They have a "Quickies" menu that covers the main points of breakfast (Main item, egg, and bacon/sausage). My French toast combo with an egg and two slices of bacon was $4. Great price for great food! - They have a lunch menu, which is funny considering they close in the early afternoon. I've both the burger and the chicken sandwich. They were good, but not their specialty. They should stick to the breakfast! - Their biscuits are amazing! Always warm and soft! Alas, this is why I must detract a star. Every time that I went to Arthur's, I would order one order of biscuits, and the server would bring me 4 biscuits, 2 for each person. After a long period of absence, I finally returned recently. I was with a large group of people, so I thought I would get 2 orders of biscuits to get 8 biscuits, enough for one each. The server brought us 4 biscuits. We waited and waited for the other 4 to come, but to no avail. It wasn't until we asked that the server told us that now "an order" of biscuits meant two biscuits. She felt bad telling us that, so I'm not blaming her. I guess a business has to keep it's costs down somewhere, and I understand that many patrons leave uneaten biscuits behind (I saw two separate parties commit such a crime while there). The besttttt food. There's a quick drive thru! Dining in is a bit tricky due to limited seating. It's not a very nice place but the food makes up for that. Try their orange Julius & best biscuits in town! TIP: Also, when you get there, there are only a about 3 waiting chairs. Stand there and wait until the nice waitresses see you. When you see a table cleared-- go ahead and take a seat. There is no sign in so just make sure you know who was there before you. The newbies seem lost and confused.. the regulars know what to do;). I love eating breakfast here. They have a menu called Arthur's Quickies." Everything on the menu is under $10.00! The serving size is just right. I love the French toast and O'brian potatoes. The fresh squeezed orange juice compliments any breakfast item. You can not go wrong with anything on the menu. This place is hands down one of my favorite breakfast restaurants. They also serve lunch here. I have not eaten lunch yet but I definitely will soon. read more

I have to admit that this breakfast place is a lot better than going to an IHOP and Denny's. Also I feel that I support a local business if I eat there. It's a real small space that is reminds you of the 1960's and 1970's. When I'm in town I usually get the Spinach and Cheese omelet which is good and the O'Brien potatoes. There are certain foods and dishes that a restaurant is known for. For Arthurs it has got to be three things. Their biscuits and gravy, their thick cut porkchops and of course, THEIR FAMOUS ARTHURS OJ!!! If you have never been then you have to try one of the three. This place serves very good breakfasts with large portions. The service is very friendly and prompt. This place closes in the afternoon which means that they make all their money on breakfast.
