It's a small location and parking is tight. It's a small diner setting with lovely staff. Food is fresh and I do recommend the orange juice. I rarely order it from other places but I know here it's freshly squeezed. They give more than enough food and the portions are ridiculous. I typical get their waffles, pancakes or an omelet. To be honest I've only had breakfast here so I can vouch for those items being well worth your buck. The ladies are sweet and aim to please; they gladly will customize an order if asked -egg whites only? No problem! Plates will run you (breakfast is the only thing I've had here) between 8-11 bucks but its a lot of food. read more

Small hole in the wall - Love the Chorizo (tastes homemade) and the menudo (I think they only serve it at this location). They have good biscuits and delicious "Arthur's O.J. & great coffee. Quick, courteous service from a really small old time diner. Went in for lunch and was pleased....half sandwich and soup was less than $6 and the chicken noodle soup and turkey walnut salad sandwich on raisin toast was really tasty. Wouldn't mind going again and trying something else. It is pretty small but we got lucky and there was an empty booth right as we walked in. read more

Love Arthur's breakfast! When I'm dining in I usually get and omelette and if I'm going through the drive thru I usually go for the breakfast burrito. This place is small but it feels like your grandma's kitchen and she's making breakfast for you lol. Everyone is always friendly, they tend to get super busy on the weekends so just a heads up if you ever plan on dining in for a weekend breakfast. read more

I have been going to this place for years and the last two visits have convinced me I won't be returning. I put up with their dirty silver ware and plates through the years and turned a blind eye but after being treated bad by the waitress, I am over it. I can go to much nicer place and not be treated like crap. The incident that took me over the edge is that I always go the this restaurant during the week and meet business associates there. It is a great location due to the fact it is right off the freeway. It is the same routine. Someone gets their a little early they get a booth order a cup of coffee. Well I guess over night the rules changed. I ate there the day before with a group of 4. One of the four was running late so we got a booth (half the restaurant was empty) and ordered some coffee. The overall experience on Tuesday was not even that good due to the fact the silverware was dirty, I found some weird piece of strip of a foreign object in my blue cheese and the pork chop was dry as Death Valley and I had to have 4 serving of pepto bismol to calm my stomach. On Wednesday I go in ( restaurant was more than half empty) and go sit at a booth. The waitress ask me " how many in your party" me "2". All of a sudden a day latter I can not sit until my whole party arrives. She tells me I need to wait in the front for my whole party. (I personally agree with this policy when a restaurant is busy but when you are less than half full I think it is crazy). I politely ask how long has this been the policy. She informs me it has been that way for 60 years. My response was, that's funny I came in yesterday and it was not, and mind you for 10 years it has never been an issue. So, I had to go sit at the counter in a half empty restaurant and watch as 2 other parties come in and no one asked them if their whole party was their. I decided I am done with this place and walked out and met my associate at a different restaurant. The restaurant we ended up going to was much cleaner and the food was better. The funny thing is, I was always the one pushing to eat at this dirty little whole in the wall but no more. I found a new place for breakfast. read more

I defy someone to tell me this isn't the best breakfast stop in Los Angeles. They have everything that you can think of if you're craving a full on breakfast. Awesome coffee and their own Arthur's OJ which is similar to Orange Julius. read more

I've been eating at Arthur's Resturant since the 1980's. They have fantastic breakfast (love the biscuits & gravy and potatoes o'Brian) and their Arthur's OJ is delish, wonderful tasting burgers. Not to be missed are their sandwiches (great tasting pastrami and french dip sandwiches). Another thing not to be missed is their Potato Skins (large skins, crunchy on the outside and melt in your mouth inside) they serve it with salsa but I always ask for the ranch dressing on the side.....yummy! read more

Came here for the first time after searching yelp for a good breakfast place. It's a little hole in the wall restaurant but I left super impressed. My bf and I shared a french toast combo and Belgian waffle combo just so we could try a little of both. Service was great and we got our food in less than 15 min. Overall great experience. We'll definitely be back. read more

One of my favorites! I love Arthur's so much. The food is good and the service is even better. Much rather spend $5-6 on a cheeseburger meal here than a fast food place like McDonald's. For about the same price you get much better quality and taste and amazing customer service. They are always very friendly and truly care about their customers. It's not a great deal price wise, there's not a lot of space in the restaurant, and they nickel and dime with odd fees. I only come when somebody else is treating. Absolutely love this place! Hate the location and parking but the food and servers are incredible! I also recommended others to visit their other location. I believe the other location is considered the city of La Habra. The La Habra location is ran by the son and it's a lot bigger and it has better parking. Both locations serve incredible food. 4/5 * Arthur's OJ & the biscuits are amazing. The portions are VERY generous, I can never seem to finish, so there is always plenty to take home for later. The waitresses are friendly. Definitely a great value for the money. Now for the bad stuff. This is a small diner, not a full restaurant so seating is very limited.I would not recommend going with a group larger than 4. If you are a solo diner, I believe they will ask you to sit at the bar. The parking lot is absolutely terrible. There are only 8 or 9 parking stalls directly in front of Arthurs. If you are lucky you can maybe get a spot along the side between Starbucks. Speaking of which, Starbucks has every parking stall labeled for customers only, so park there at your own risk. read more

Do not order the Vegetarian omelet unless you like chunky runny eggy goo. If my girlfriend had not got the sausage omelet this place would have received lower stars. I think their pancakes and french toast are better then the omelets. read more

I grew up in Downey and thus I've heard many people rave about this place. I finally decided to give it a try. Arthur's was a big disappointment. Pros: big portions, decent service, good selection of plates, decent taste. Cons: dirty (nasty build-up over months/years & crumbs of people who ate there 2 hours ago dirty), very greasy food (which diminishes the taste), low quality ingredients (which diminishes your health), price points that didn't match the food served, parking. My read on this place is that a lot of patrons have sentiment connections with the restaurant (it's been in Downey forever and is quirky), or have been coming here for so long that they turn a blind eye to the shortcomings. If you're a new customer, like I was, you're going to compare the pros/cons, and Arthur's isn't going to be your go-to spot. read more

After reading what the locals said I figured I would give it a try. Big let down, this is definetly a family style restaraunt ran by a family who doesnt know how to run a business. The food is decent and I mean barely, how ever the service is horrible. My wife asked for ranch dressing and didn't get any untill our meal was done. The pork chop was thick how ever dry as a bone. I definetly look for hole in the wall places to enjoy but this wasn't it. They should definetly rip dowm that sign that says greatest food. read more

I enjoy the vibe here, it's very small inside but it's pretty much full, so I mean that tells you something about the place. Yes Arthur's is known for breakfast...Yes I've had breakfast there many times...yes its good...is breakfast the reason I've been eating there for over 20 years? No....it is all about a $2.25 pastrami sandwich with fries and a side of coleslaw (which once was taken off the menu and due to demand was brought back..extra charge)..this place is a Downey staple....and I eat it everytime I'm back in town! read more
