We interviewed 4 contractors before we decided to move forward with Artisan Build Group. What made us decide to move forward with them was Michael's can-do attitude, and ability to problem-solve, and provide us with honest upfront costs. Some of the contractors we spoke with either gave us a bid really low, but left out a bunch of things to trick us, or ones that gave us an astronomical price! We appreciated how honest, and straight-forward Michael was from the beginning with what the results would be. During the build, Michael and his crew were very accomodating with great attention to detail. They all wore masks and took precautions to keep us and his crew safe. Whenever an issue arose, Michael worked diligently with his team to get it fixed. He's an incredible problem-solver and will work hard to make sure that you are 100% pleased with the end product. Our kitchen remodel started in October 2020 and was finished in January 2021. There were a couple of delays due to the holidays and the pandemic; however, the end product was a beautiful, newly remodeled kitchen. My only feedback would be that their cabinet installers were sub-par with little attention to detail, they dinged up some of the cabinets when installing; however, once this issue was brought to Michael's attention he made sure to have those cabinets replaced so they would look brand new. I would HIGHLY recommend Artisan Build Group, and would most definitely be reaching out to them if & when we consider another remodel. We worked with Michael Soroka/ Artisan Build during late Oct - Nov. 2020 to re-roof our home and install solar panels. We were extremely pleased with Michael, his crew, the total process, and the end result. Michael is "top notch" as well as his crew. Ask Michael for a copy of the more detailed reference letter we wrote in praise of his company. Selected highlights from the reference letter are provided below. Michael's approach to developing a relationship and closing a sale is very different from other companies. He spoke with us and we dialogued about our objectives, our concerns and creative solutions to what we were trying to achieve. Before we met with Michael we had spoken with 6+ solar companies and 4+ roofing companies and none of them had that type of interaction with us. Most demonstrated that they were more interested in getting us to sign a contract, collecting commissions, and it seemed clear that they would not participate in guiding/supervising the work. Many made cursory assessments (several firms made major errors in assessing the size of the roof and most ignored the fact that our roof was already 20 years old). None of the firms provided suggestions regarding the use of more energy efficient roofing shingles, or enhanced roof vents to lower the heat in the attic and lower the AC burden (in contrast to Michael, who addressed these topics) . Many of the other firms were reluctant to provide references. Michael gave us current references the day after we met with him. He answered many questions before we hired him and we knew he was the right person for the job and knew his business. Michael takes pride in his company, hires the best crew and techs, and cares immensely about the quality of the outcome his clients will receive. The quality of the materials used, and the actual work were both excellent. The fact that Michael is a licensed contractor was important to us for three reasons: 1) ensured that a broad-based knowledge of construction and how to work effectively with our existing home was applied; 2) enabled the integration of multiple different tradesmen with different sets of expertise (roofers, solar installation, electricians, carpentry, gutter installation, painters) to produce the desired outcome and to problem solve, if needed; and 3) assured that the work would be done to code and that there would be no short-cuts and no problems with inspections/approvals. Michael was highly responsive to our questions and requests (from pre-sale, through the day-to-day work, and during the final wrap-up of the project). During the installation, Michael and the techs discussed with us ways to make the solar panel and conduit location optimal for energy generation as well as aesthetics. Our project began on the date promised and was also completed on time and on budget. Michael supervised each phase of the project. He worked closely with the head tech for roofing and the head of solar and the crew members for the installation of the solar panels. He explained the layout for greatest energy efficiency and welcomed our thoughts as well. Throughout the roofing and solar panel work, whenever we had a request , Michael was always responsive by text or email. If we saw anything needing attention, " he was on it," generally the same day. Each day the crew arrived and began work promptly around 7:00 -7:30 am and worked hard all day generally til late afternoon 4 or 5 pm.. They worked Monday through Friday and some Saturdays. On two occasions, at our request, they flexed their schedule to accommodate our business needs. The final step taken by the workers each day was to clean up the work site. All debris was removed. All tools and materials were neatly stored. The city inspectors know and respect Artisan Build because of their high quality. Thus, we passed roof inspection and solar inspection without any issues. We are very happy with our final project and would definitely use Michael/ Artisan build for future projects and would highly recommend him to anyone. read more

We are pleased with our new solar and roof that Artisan installed for us in November. Within a few months, (end of Jan/Feb) we were off the LADWP grid which was a short wait time when I compare to my friends who have gone with other companies. The savings reflected on our bill are extremely remarkable. Especially because our family blasts the air-conditioning day and night. Our DWP bill use to be over a thousand dollars and now with our new roof and solar it's a nominal fee. Once the permits were in place, the process to complete the new roof and solar panels was straight forward and highly efficient. Michael did a really good job installing our new roof and solar panels. He was on site almost daily and physically on the old/new roof itself overseeing the roofer crew on many occasions. What we appreciated the most is that Michael communicates very well, is honest, transparent and a true professional. The clean up was impeccable. We were very impressed with the clean up because that is a messy job. I only had to pick up a handful of old black roof bits from our yard. I do wish that the leftover roof pieces were not left on our interior driveway - because they are still there now. But if Michael reads this review or if we ask him to relocate them out of sight...I have no doubt that he will do that asap. He also sent a worker to repair damage to our interior ceiling because after the new roof install little round circular damage was visible. Almost all of the little circles are gone now - with only a few remaining. We interviewed several companies and choose Artisan based on our interview with Michael and recent Yelp reviews. We did an enormous amount of research on solar because there are a lot of charlatans offering to save you money etc. So be careful and do your homework. Or just hire Artisan for good quality work. I started with hiring an architect to help with the new floor plan and help selecting some material finishes. The 1st thing that really caught my eye is, when time came for the start of the project Michael himself was doing, even going on a roof to inspect it. I hired Michael and Artisan Build Group for a full interior and exterior remodel of my house designed by architect Edward Ogosta. Michael understood my modern design vision and executed the plans flawlessly with his team, who executed the entire project. Michael was always just a text away, keeping me updated daily on progress. One thing I liked was that he was very detail-oriented, because I am not. People always say they are "detail-oriented" but I can say that Michael actually is in practice, which is what you want in a contractor. When something he produced was off he would spend the time, money, and effort to make it right. For my house one load-bearing wall was removed in between kitchen and dining; his team followed structural engineering diagrams I provided to properly remove this wall. All new hardwood flooring went in in a week. Tile placement was a several hour discussion so that we could get everything lined up just the way me and the architect wanted, and was executed just like the rendering. The bathrooms are a complete transformation and my little quiet oasis. Every detail and inch as accounted for. Cabinets in the bathrooms were custom and done by Michael's woodworking team - the craftsmanship is amazing. They also installed the kitchen (where I used pre-made panels from reform), slats, stair railing, mud room bench, and laundry room shelving. The white oak he sourced was evenly grained and he would have to pick them himself piece by piece. His stainers matched the stain for wood that came from different suppliers! I did a complete exterior remodel with smooth stucco, and Michael's guys also did a ipe walkway out in front. When the new skylight came wrong (it had a bar in the middle), he spent the money to buy a new skylight even though the original was not returnable. He even provided the little net in the shower drain to catch my hair. I can't compare with other contractor's prices, and I did spend quite a bit on the house, but everything was done right and that is the most important. There was not a dollar wasted on Artisan Build Group. I am so happy with my house and it is worth much much more than the money I spent on it. Thank you for the beautiful house!
