I had a nice meal at the bar here. I sat at the bar and the staff proved to be helpful and attentive all night. I did come on the earlier side (5:30ish) and by the time I left they were getting quite busy but seemed to work in an upbeat and organized format. The drinks here are just ok. They seem like they would be Uber fancy, but the aperol martini was a little syrupy for me. I switched to wine after that and was still underwhelmed. The hotel aesthetic was more upscale than some of the TC hotspots, but with a reception happening on the patio it was a bustling and louder than average environment. The Caesar salad had some interesting additions of capers and chickpeas. It was fine but slightly underdressed. The texture of the chickpea was welcomed but there were a few too many capers for my taste. If you are deterred by either of these items, I'm sure they can easily accommodate that. The spring pea carbonara was really wonderful! Although the word "carbonara" is a stretch. I don't believe the dish has any true components of carbonara (egg yolk, bacon, etc) so I would advise the name be changed to "spring pea primavera or pesto" to more accurately describe the dish. Strong mint and basil flavors complemented the fresh peas and nice presentation. My complaint lies within the pasta shape. Achieving a bite with tiny peas and long bucatini noodles was difficult at best. First world problem, I know. Overall, I would certainly give Artisan another try. We finally had a chance to try Artisan and loved it! The service was great and attentive, without feeling pretentious. Same with the decor and overall vibe. We ordered the farm board, scallops, and striped bass. Everything was delicious! The bread and garlicky spread on the farm board was probably my favorite thing. It really feels like they've lost their super star chef-- the food quality was not up to the standards of how this chef was described to us on previous visits. It was as about a mediocre 200+ dollar meal I've had in my life to be honest. Drinks were ok. Tomato burrata app was ok. Pasta dish was ok. They like to make a pretty penny on everything here (12 bucks per scallop add to dish), which is fine, but then be great, not ok. I probably needed to get the 100 buck steak to be wowed, haha. My husband and I had a wonderful anniversary dinner here. It was a beautiful evening and we sat outside and enjoyed the waterfront views. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu, he made some great recommendations for us. I had the salmon which was delicious. It had perfect crispy skin and was served over a yummy parsnip puree with asparagus and brocolini. I only wished there was more veggies on the plate. My friends had the meat and cheese tray which had a variety of jellies, mustard cheese and meats. Was great as well. Oh the drinks. I had a margarita. Nice ambiance, polite staff, good bar drinks, knowledgeable waiter. Five of the eight dinners arrived and we waited several minutes for the others. Mine was simple pasta with chicken. It arrived with no chicken and was returned. Learned that it would be another 15-20 minutes for the chicken. Everyone was done with their meal when my dinner finally arrived so, because it is awkward and uncomfortable to eat dinner alone when everyone else is done and their plates being taken away, I asked to have it boxed up. Then the waiter tried to hand out the dessert menu. No! It was awful enough to sit there while everyone else ate. No. And I didn't want to settle for plain pasta for dinner. To say that we had a wonderful dining experience at Artisan in Delamar Traverse City is an understatement. For nearly a year, we have been looking forward to trying the new and highly-anticipated restaurant that was slated to open in what was formerly the Holiday Inn West Bay. On an occasion of drinks in late winter 2021, my husband and I were invited to preview the still-under-construction space where the general manager gave us details of the restaurant's layout and the features that would soon be completed. Finally, after several months of Artisan being open, we made a reservation to celebrate an early Valentine's Day, and I can say with certainty that the restaurant more than met our expectations. First, I want to say that a welcoming ambience and warm atmosphere is high on my list of must-haves in high-end dining--just below food quality and creativity. From the moment we passed beneath the glowing chandelier in the foyer, I could tell I would be in a place of true comfort while eating at Artisan. The overall design of the restaurant pulls you in while you enter, particularly the lighting and color choices. From the entryway, you can see a gorgeous bar, several varying styles of seating, and a beautiful fireplace with conversational couches. We were taken to the second dining room, one that during the day would feature a beautiful view of the bay. Though it is separated by a wall, from our table, we could see through the glass partition and into the bar, which made the space feel larger. In the summer, the restaurant also has outdoor patio seating and an open concept from that second, beautiful room. Beyond the service--which was superb in attentiveness and warmth--we enjoyed a truly delicious dinner. Our menu had a large section of Valentine's Day options with entrees that would satisfy any palate. I almost chose the gnocchi, but opted for the Scottish salmon from the regular menu while my husband chose the filet from the holiday features. After a shared Caesar salad and a helping of bread from Common Good bakery, our entrees arrived and we barely spoke a word until we'd cleaned our plates. One thing I appreciate and often don't mention in reviews is portion size. The dishes at Artisan are absolutely perfect in size. Nothing remained when I'd finished (quite ravenously) my delicious salmon, and yet, I was satiated. My husband gleefully ate his filet while I occasionally dipped my fork into his truffle sauce--because honestly, who could resist? And after two cocktails, the bread, and the salad, we had had one of the best dinners we've ever had in Traverse City. Being a resident and seeing new restaurants spring up across town opens the door for new dining experiences, and this one was one to remember. We can't wait to dine at Artisan again, encourage our friends to do the same, and even do a staycation at the hotel. Delamar has done an exceptional job redesigning the entire space to offer something that is updated without being cold and overly modern. The warmth radiating out of the hotel and restaurant would make anyone want to return, and we plan to do so soon! read more

Such a surprise to have such a wonderful meal while staying at the Delamar! Husband had an amazing burger, surloin and brisket and raved about the fries. We went to dinner and had the prix fix meal suggestions. With a knowledgable server and her love of good food, we dined on the best kale salad I've ever had. The soup was savory and favorable on a snowy night by the fireplace. The ricotta gnocchi was melt in your mouth delicious with tiny capers in a brown butter sauce. Paired perfectly with his pork tenderloin medallions with a fine butternut or some wonderful puree and an apple butter sauce w mushrooms. Started off with the tempura squash, it wasn't great so the manager came over and offered us something different or a free dessert (obviously picked the free dessert). Second course was the strip steak. Presentation is beautiful, but the meat was very tough and fatty in areas. Desserts were sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake in a jar. Sticky toffee pudding tasted like a caramel cake, just needed a larger scoop of ice cream with it. The cheesecake in a jar was great. Not on the restaurant week menu, we also ordered the kale goddess salad. Really not good. The kale was super tough and the dressing was not good. They also did not put dried cherries in the salad. This needs to get revamped or just simply taken off the menu, I couldn't even eat it. Overall the place was loud and busy for a Saturday night. I will crave that wedge salad! The shrimp alla vodka was delicious but the filet stoled the show...Perfectly cooked with a potato pave. The sauces with it were the cherry on top! I chose the Artisan for dinner because I was a guest at the attached hotel. Being able to dine in the lake was definitely a part of the decision. Unfortunately, that was the best part of my experience. I ordered a glass of Riesling, the Caesar Salad and Michigan "Lobster" Roll. The salad was good. Some of the flavors were too much for me. Simple is some times better, in my opinion. The "lobster" roll was white fish on toasted, thick cut white bread. The lemon flavoring on the fish was almost overpowering everything else. The ambiance was great until the sun set. There was very little lightning on the patio. I had to use the flashlight on my phone in order to pay my check. I wanted to try dessert but didn't want to eat in the dark. read more

Terribly greedy restaurant. Never in my life in 54 years have I had any restaurant the finest restaurants in the world charge $25 per person if your reservation is not full. We stayed in the hotel and use their service in paid for drinks. We paid for food. We had a long day jet skiing and using all of the services in the area. We had dinner reservations at 6 PM however, only two of the four could make it to dinner due to excessive tiredness. This restaurant has the nerve the absolute disgusting behavior to charge $25 per person for not coming to the reservation. This is not a doctors office or a hairstylist that has nothing to do for 45 minutes. This is pure white greed. They obviously need the money. I do not recommend going to this restaurant. read more

If I could give this 10 stars, I would. We booked here on open table for a "mini moon" dinner. When we arrived, they asked the occasion and we told them we were newly married. We got our choice of seat and champagne and free dessert as a result! The view cannot be beat. We had the pasta and cod-flavors were incredible. After dinner and dessert, we went and got another drink at the outdoor bar. The atmosphere was electric and the bartenders were so fun and nice!
