She patiently explains in detail how to properly care for my teeth and always takes the time to answer all of my questions. She works diligently and is incredibly gentle during my teeth cleaning, which makes every visit comfortable and stress-free. Because of her professionalism, care, and consistency, I can trust her totally for my teeth cleaning. The dental office itself is always well lit and very clean. I am greeted with warm smiles from the front desk staff every time I visit. Also, their customer service is exceptional. Recently, when I needed to retrieve couple years of HSA out-of-pocket receipts, the front desk handled everything excellently. Went to OC Smiles on Friday 3/13/26 for a loose implant because my dentist is closed on Fridays…read more Helena was great and the only good thing i will have to say about my experience. I didn't need a diagnosis, since I told the dentist that my implant was loose. He decided to take a ct scan, charge me for it and charge me for his false "diagnosis." $290 later.. he told me I need a New crown and wanted me to pay $2900 to return for 2 more visits to "fix" it. I Declined his outrageous treatment plan, knowing my implant was just loose. I waited until Monday with no problems and went to my dentist Dr. John Vartanian (Newport Beach) who did the implant for me. He tightened the screw and I was out of there in 10 minutes for free. I believe SoCal Smiles owes me $290 back for their unnecessary scan and incorrect diagnosis. They were trying to sell me something I didn't need and I'm quite upset about how this was handled when I brought it to their attention. I would go elsewhere and not trust this place with your time or money.

Accurate rating description for two starts is "could've been better." This place only has PA/NP…read moreand no MD on site. They have the capability to draw blood and send to lab for stat orders. Unfortunately, what they lack ends up a longer list. The first MA was unable to get a vial of blood and said someone else would try on my other arm with a straight needed (vs butterfly). She left me without even putting a bandaid on the arm she poked and I had to struggle to put the bandaid on one handed while still maintaining pressure on it. Next MA comes and draws blood and when she's done she yelps I don't have a cotton ball (to put on the vein she just drew out of) and my blood is just pooling while she puts a bandaid on. Luckily I'm well versed enough to know I needed to put pressure on my bandaid. The NP who saw me was new to (per the MA) she really didn't put my mind at ease. Her expertise and knowledge seemed lacking based on the answers to my questions. First thing she asked me was, why are you here and not the ER? I told her my PCP sent me here because she didn't feel it necessitated a ER visit. She wanted me to be evaluated by YOU to assess and in your medical opinion, do I need to be seen further or what course of action next? She swabbed me for flu and covid and I verbally questioned her because I had isolated severe GI symptoms. She said sometimes those present wither GI only. Does it? I don't know, I'm not an MD but I'm also someone who works in healthcare and it didn't feel like the proper procedure. When I asked if she would be ordering any stool samples, I heard through my closed door "do we do that?". Ok, she's new, I'll give her that...but she comes back in and says "if you'd like to have the order for stool testing I'm happy to give that to you." Am I the md or am I the patient? I came here for your professional medical opinion! Do I?! So after I kindly communicated that I am looking to her for her opinion as the expert whether or not my symptoms necessitate an order, she still doesn't quite give me a direct answer! I haven't been to that many urgent cares, but I've come to see a trend that many of the urgent cares that are owned by a company with multiple locations don't have MD's on staff physically there. That said, I've also noticed the trend that many provide sub-par care.

I came in specifically because I was feeling unwell and suspected a blood sugar issue--especially since lab work from a different clinic the prior week showed a fasting glucose level high enough to indicate diabetes. Despite explaining this, the Physician Assistant (PA) dismissed my concerns, told me I "didn't fit the profile" for diabetes, and ordered a thyroid panel instead. Three days later, the support staff called to tell me they lost my blood sample and needed me to come back in. When I expressed frustration that they lost my sample for a test I didn't even ask for--while still refusing to run the metabolic panel I actually needed--the staff member literally hung up on me. I only returned the next day because it is within walking distance of my house and I was having the same feeling again, wanting to get to the bottom of what was happening. While the PA on duty that day was attentive, she ended up sending me to the ER for my blood pressure. After waiting four hours at the hospital, the ER doctor confirmed it wasn't an emergency at all. To top it all off, I received another call from the urgent care informing me that they did eventually run a metabolic panel, and my A1C and fasting glucose levels are, in fact, indicative of diabetes. Between the PA completely dismissing a patient's concerns, the staff losing blood samples, and being hung up on, the lack of professionalism and competence here is alarming. Go somewhere else.

The two ladies helping me with that process were great, they were very helpful in explaining things. I was seen quickly, within 10-15 minutes of my arrival. Sergio helped with taking my vitals and noting my symptoms. He repeated my blood pressure test after the first one was pretty high. He encouraged me to relax in between and breathe deeply. Of course, the second reading was better. He was very professional and compassionate! I saw Dr. Victor Nekrasov, who did a thorough examination and discussed the symptoms I've been having. I felt that his questions were good, and I did not feel rushed at all during my time with him. He prescribed a few meds, and I was on my way. They confirmed which pharmacy I preferred, and I opted for CVS located across the street. I was encouraged to return to the clinic and/or follow up with my PCP if symptoms did not improve. It was a very good experience overall, and I would not hesitate to return or recommend this facility to others.

I posted a review for this office in 2018 (see below for a copy). Thought I would update it for all of you who are fearful of going to the dentist during "the plague". Nobody is more terrified than I am about catching the corona virus. I even have my meals delivered so that I do not have to venture into potentially dangerous spaces. However, I feel as good as I can about visiting Artistic Smiles Dentistry because of the extreme precautions that are taken here to protect staff and patients. I was able to fill out a covid questionnaire online a few hours before my appointment. Upon arrival, my temperature was taken, and my oxygen level assessed. I saw the staff disinfect each of these tools before and after use on me. I could wait in my car for a call when the staff was ready for me, or sit outside in chairs that are 6 feet apart. ALL of the staff are wearing masks and face shields. I was told that the dentists change their masks, face shields, and gowns, between each patient. Besides the normal saliva suctioning tool during procedures, the staff now uses an extra strong suctioning tool to minimize any saliva that might escape into the air. There are multiple examining rooms at this office, and, I was told that between each patient, the room is sprayed with a special disinfectant to kill any droplets that may have escaped, and the room is empty for 15 minutes while this spray does its killing thing before another patient is seated in the treatment room. It feels so good to have clean teeth! And, to keep my worry to a minimum! Original 2018 review: This is the #1 Five Star Dentist Office Never go anywhere else My idea of a dentist comes from the 1976 movie Marathon man. Dustin Hoffman is tortured by Laurence Olivier, a Nazi war criminal/dentist, who drills in Hoffman's mouth without anesthesia, while we listen to his horrified screams. NOT! I never thought that I would say this about a dental office, but this place is AWESOME! I had an evaluation/consultation with Dr. Kim. She was so patient and informative in evaluating and discussing my dental needs. I have a big mistrust of dentists, as I have had some bad work done by some rather unskillful ones. With Dr. Kim, I felt from our discussion that she knew everything! And she used x ray machines and equipment that seemed to be a technological miracle. Shae, one of the office assistants, was so kind and sympathetic and patient discussing and showing me an instant computer printout of all my choices with the exact amount that each would cost. Also, Donna in the front office could not have been more kind and sympathetic. The next day, Dr. Acasio performed all the procedures. (Dr. Kim was booked, and my treatment was an emergency, as I had cracked a tooth). While he worked, he explained everything he was doing (sometimes more than once, as it is difficult to process all that info while you are quaking in the dental chair), while showing me immediate x rays right on the screen in front of me so that we could discuss options. He was so kind to me, and really succeeded in calming my fears. He was assisted by dental assistants Sul and Dani, who were fast and efficient. I am not ashamed to admit that Sul even held my hand for a bit, while the tears were streaming down my face, as I was so scared. I was in the chair for 5 1/2 hours. During a follow up visit, another dental assistant, Kenia, was also so kind and efficient. It was unbelievable that during some very difficult procedures( LOTS of numbing, crowns, temporary bridge, tooth extraction), I did not feel even one minute of pain. Not even the anesthetizing needles. When I got home, I experienced a problem, and Dr. Acasio called me back twice that day, and then twice the next day. He explained what I should expect following treatment and really once again calmed me down. What prompt and expert attention! And, the same no pain for a follow up visit involving a root canal and crown, all completed in one day. All the staff here are so professional, sympathetic, knowledgeable. I feel that they actually saw me as a person, rather than a problem to be solved. I will never go to any other dental office for the rest of my life. That's how confident I feel with the care and kindness I received. The only thing that could have made this better was if if were free (or, even better, if they paid me). First time visit for a consultation and I was impressed when I walked in the front door. The first thing I saw was a glass wall waterfall running the full length from ceiling to floor. That put me in such a relaxed state and I had a feeling I had came to the right place. The ladies in the front office were dressed in professional attire not the typical medical look. I was also impressed with the Covid-19 Protocol for sanitation for my protection. After filling out my paperwork I was immediately taken back no long wait in the waiting area. The Dental Assistance Mariana was very professional courteous and most of all kind and caring. In a very short time Dr Koo came in and we discussed my issues and concerns. He was also Very professional and even with face shield and mask on I could see in his eyes he was really concerned and was listening to me about my issues which were a few. He took the time to explain all the options open to me to make the necessary corrections without any pressure to get the most expensive treatment. I agreed on a treatment option and Dr Koo and Mariana started the work immediately no come back another day to start or anything Very Impressive they cared enough about me to have the time to start the correction process Immediately. First impressions are so important and the impression Artistic Smiles made on this 70 year old man was Astounding it totally changed my mind about Dentistry Dr Koo is truly a man of his profession, compassion and talents. I've been coming here for 16 years. These guys are the best! This is a genuine review from a real client. As a kid I HATED the dentist. It was painful, uncomfortable, and terrifying. As an adult my experiences weren't much better. But when I had neglected to come to the dentist for several years, a friend of mine at work recommended Artistic Smiles so I gave it a try. I was so pleasantly surprised. The staff is friendly and extremely knowledgable. The dentists themselves are truly superb in both regards to their knowledge and procedure. And while going to the dentist is probably not at the top of anyone's list of favorite things to do, I can honestly say that I look forward to my visits. And the dental work I've had has been simply outstanding. I've had crowns replaced and new ones put in. I've had a bridge completed, had my wisdom teeth extracted, and had my teeth whitened and cleaned on a regular basis. The dentists have also given me great advise on how to maintain healthy teeth and gums in regards to brushing, flossing, nutrition and care. The work performed has always been painless (really HUGE to me with my previous bad experiences), and all this with a flexible payment plan for the big expenses. I can honestly say that I would choose no other dentists in the world. And it always makes me smile when I get a birthday card and a Christmas card from these guys! I have been coming to this office for as long as I can remember and there is only great news about Artistic Smiles. Anytime you walk in to this office it's only big smiles and a amazing help. I have grown to love these amazing people, literally have grown. I have been coming to Artistic Smiles since I was a little girl, that as I grow older Artistic Smiles is now my family. With out them I wouldn't have a healthy smile or a drive to want to become a dentist when I get older, because they shown me that every day at work is a great day at work. I've read most of these Yelp reviews, both the positive and negative one and have found them to be very helpful. In summary, the positive reviews, and even the handful of negative ones, confirm these dentists are attentive, pleasant, professional and provide the best possible care. That has been my experience, too. The few negative reviews mostly revolve around the cost of the suggested treatment plan. In my opinion, it is always good to question any estimate, ask about what is and is not covered by your insurance and why. Then ask what options are available. Often there are options that will be covered by your plan 100%. If not, then you can shop for another dentist. Simple. Easy. After several visits- I am giving Artistic Smiles Dentistry 5 stars across the board! It is easy to see the incredible quality of care. It shines through every aspect of care. There are many factors that make a great dentist office and Artistic Smiles leads in them all. Both in office and follow up are exceptional. They are a tight knit, highly skilled, compassionate team. The staff enjoys great relationships with their clients and with one another... It shows. They listen. The whole office works together to make sure I feel comfortable with treatments and and options. For everyone who have not visited a dentist because they were too afraid I highly recommend making an appointment with Dr. Kim at Artistic Smiles Dentistry! Until recently I had been able to avoid the dentist for almost twenty years, this was not due to my teeth being in good shape but due to outright fear of pain. Recently I had a tooth break and had no choice but to go in for treatment. I let everyone at the office know how afraid I was of dentists due to previous bad experiences, everyone was so empathetic and patient. I can honestly say that my fear was not warranted and that Dr. Kim and her staff all treated me with patience and respect. I've been going to Artistic Smiles for over 5 years. I started with one dentist in office and switched to another. No questions asked. Very professional. Office staff also very professional and considerate. I am now without employer insurance. I shopped around at other dentists but returned to Artistic Smiles with their in-office plan for coverage. Main reason is I like my dentist, Dr. Koo. He is most pleasant, considerate and always takes the time to answer my questions. I can't imagine anyone not liking him for a dentist. The dental work has always been done with no subsequent problems. I have had no pressure to do any unneeded dental work. It was my choice. I was always a person who was always nervous and anxious about going to the dentist, but after coming to artistic smiles I will never feel that way again. From the welcome sign listing the names of their new patients, to the genuine happy demeanor of all the people in the office, they managed to sooth my concerns and put me at ease. In particular, I met with Dr. Chean and could not have been happier. She was kind, careful and clearly very experienced. I was particularly impressed with her intimate knowledge of teeth and her ability to explain what she was doing at all times in simple terms for an average person to understand. Visited Artistic Smiles when there was an uptick in the Covid-19 precautions. Their protocols are very thorough and professional. Very impressed with the friendliness and ability of all staff. They have a number of specialists in each area: x-ray, cleaning, examination and treatment. They also have the very latest technology and equipment in each area. Artistic Dentistry is by far the BEST dental office I've had. The state of the art equipment, the staff and the office is so clean and awesome. The staff and Dr. Khoo are great and they greet and welcome you with a warm smile and a caring spirit. l have been going to Artistic Smiles for almost 20 years and I have to admit I am not an easy patient to work on due to my extreme anxiety yet, Dr. Kim and Dr. Khoo always manage to make me feel at ease when working on me with their patience and their compassion. Dr Khoo is the bomb !! He is a great dentist ! He and his assistant plus the whole staff do an amazing job ! I have been with Dr C for over 24 years! He has always encouraged me to take care of my teeth. I have never been pushed to do anything I am not ready for. She explained everything and made me as comfortable as possible. She is stellar. They have all this SUPER modern equipment: - Stand up x-ray that does not only your teeth but jaw bone to see if there are any cancers, or thing issues percolating related to your teeth - They have hand held xray machines which is the most comfortable way to xray teeth EVER - She also has a hand held camera that she used to take pictures of my potential problem areas - Instead of using the overhead lamp, she had glasses fitted with a lamp - She offered me darkened sunglasses so it was way more comfortable The room is well equipped, even with two sinks at one station. The chair is quite comfortable. I shared with Alexis that a cleaning I had done last month was so bad, felt like I was drowning and upchucked water 2x. She held the water extractor (saliva) and moved it with her as she worked. She also did the cleaning with the (forgot the name) but with water power behind it, but afterwards did manual scaling by hand. She finished off with flouride seal on my teeth and flossed all my teeth and everything was smooth after she was done. Dr. Kyle Nishimura was excellent. He wanted to address any concern areas I had. He also explained why I was not a candidate for veneers due to my teeth condition. He showed me some problem areas that needed to be monitored and he did not pressure me for extra services. I ended up needing a night mouth guard, they had a scanner / hand held that takes 1000's of pics per second that created an exact replica of my teeth and bites (both upper and lower). - Amazing technology The front desk staff is also very kind and welcoming. A place even Grandma will love!…read more Okay, okay, so I'm 70 years old (not sure how this happened). And I've been around the block, lemme tell you ... I had a dentist I loved, and then he suddenly disappeared. I showed up on Monday morning for my appointment, and all new signage was up. I asked the staff, and they had no idea. He'd just literally sold the business overnight and moved on. To this day we still don't know what happened. I didn't feel great about having a dentist take over that I was unfamiliar with, but it seemed to be okay. Then over and over, he kept recommending procedures that didn't seem necessary. He wanted cleanings every 4 months for no apparent reason. Then every other month he wanted to do a deep cleaning. I was constantly pressured to see their "preferred" periodontist. Every time I turned around, they needed to re-do a filling or re-do a cap. It just seemed weird. So I went for a second opinion, and that dentist told me "You don't need a cap, you just need to replace a filling. I was in-and-out, no hassle, no pressure, no fuss. Still puzzled, I began to research dental scams. I ran across a dentist from the east coast, and on his video, he outlined the top 10 dental scams. The old dentist had recommended 9 of those procedures! The video also used the example that if a dentist only makes $100 profit on a filling, but can make $2500 profit on a cap, the scam is to talk you into a cap. Wow. So I thought it'd be a great idea to find a nonprofit, because surely they wouldn't be into these scams. I found one I liked, and I love supporting nonprofits! They were okay for a little while. Then when I went in for routine x-rays and a cleaning, the dentist only cleaned 5 of my teeth??? I was puzzled when he said that was all that was needed. Seems I'd found the other end of the spectrum. On the one end was a guy who was recommending 9 unnecessary procedures, and on the other end, the guy only wanted to clean 5 of me teeth. aye aye aye Frustrated, I began to research again. I found Sunset Dental Arts and I liked the reviews. I gave them a try this afternoon. Clean bill of health, and no unnecessary procedures. (Imagine that.) They were warm, friendly, efficient ... and hey ... the dentist smiled and said, "We'll be cleaning ALL your teeth today." LOL! Couldn't ask for more that that! I'm a pleased customer, and I'm leaving 5 stars and smiling with ALL my healthy teeth!

Had a disappointing first visit here for a routine cleaning. Decided to try it out since it was…read morenew, and close to where I live. The appointment took about 1.5 hours with the first hour devoted to a diagnosis of deep cleaning and several cavity fills. I'm in my mid-twenties with no prior history of cavities or gum issues so found this surprising and chose to decline treatment. The actual cleaning took about 5-10 minutes. Got a second opinion from my previous dentist who found no cavities and disagreed with the deep cleaning diagnosis. The bone loss flagged was related to a known side effect of Invisalign treatment, which I just finished, not underlying gum disease. Front desk also asked for my medical insurance card at check-in, which I haven't encountered at other dental offices. Based on my experience, I'd suggest seeking a second opinion before agreeing to any major treatment plans here.

They got me in within an hour of when I called and sure enough, I had an infection under one of my teeth and before I knew it, I was having a root canal. Due to the infection and needing to take antibiotics for a week, it took 3 trips, but the pain was gone almost immediately and except for the initial shoot on the roof of the mouth, didn't feel a thing. (I did take a pain killer that afternoon after the nerve was removed, there's nothing that can be done about that pain once the Novocain wears off). They did their best to schedule the remaining appointments around my work schedule which I greatly appreciated. I mustcompliment Dr. Berger. He's been my dentist for about 15 years now, and is so good at explaining what's going on, what's going to happen next when you're in the chair, and very careful to make sure you're not feeling any pain during the procedure. The front desk staff is amazing. Very friendly and efficient. As long as I live in the area, I don't see myself changing dentists for a long time.
