Amazing spot for Armenian baked goods, kabobs, desserts, and has a similar vibe to Porto's, but with an Armenian twist. Stopped by because I've been on an Armenian pastry trend at this time. I ended up grabbing some nazook, medium lahmajun, and also decided to give the beef khachapuri kabob a try as I haven't seen that offered at other spots I've tried. Service was quick and on point and the lahmajun did take about 10-15 minutes as they make them fresh. They have a pretty expansive patio where you can enjoy your goodies and hang out. Parking can be a bit of a challenge as it is mostly street parking, but I managed to snag a spot a few blocks away. As for the food, the nazook is amazing and better than a few other bakeries I've tried in Glendale. The lahmajun was also amazing and very flavorful with a good amount of meat. And lastly, the beef khachapuri kabob was amazing! It had that nice smoky charcoal flavor in the meat and worked well with the surrounding pastry. Definitely will be back again and bringing friends to this Glendale gem! read more

Extremely Disappointing Experience: Ignored Instructions and Sloppy Work I am extremely disappointed with Art's Bakery. This was my daughter's birthday cake, and what should have been a special moment turned into a very frustrating experience. I emailed the bakery three separate times requesting a lighter shade of purple with glitter dust and specifically asked for pink writing to match the flowers. I also spoke with three different employees, and each confirmed that the colors would match the reference photo. I was told the flowers might be slightly different, but everything else would be very similar. Instead, when my husband picked up the cake, the color was completely off, the writing was white instead of pink, and, to make matters worse, the writing looked sloppy and poorly done. This wasn't a minor variation or artistic interpretation. These were very specific requests I communicated repeatedly, and your staff repeatedly confirmed they understood and would follow them. Three emails. Three conversations. Multiple confirmations. And yet, the final cake looked nothing like what was discussed. If you cannot match a color or meet a specific request, just be honest with the customer. What is unacceptable is repeatedly assuring someone that their requests will be honored and then completely disregarding them. For a birthday cake meant to be special for my daughter, this was extremely disappointing. The lack of communication, attention to detail, and quality of the final work was unacceptable. read more

Let me require if you are trying to come somewhere fast for lunch I do not like this. Their parking lot is a complete shit show. I'm literally walking and there valet due directed a car to damn drive into me and I literally had to say no he is not clear to go when I'm walking behind his car like he's just sitting there staring and directed him to drive into me. Interesting out of pedestrian. OK now I'm inside. I used to come here when I lived in the neighborhood and I would walk so I never really had these problems but it's like I walk in the door. It's constantly the rude customized they push you around they cut you in line they do not say excuse me. None of the staff is inviting at all and simple things like I'm ordering a chicken Gyro right above. It is a beef shawarma... I asked if I could substitute the chicken for beef instead because they're both served on pita bread one serve with hummus ones served with a white sauce. She told me now they don't have beef. They don't do beef like that and I'm like OK it's literally on your menu and I'm reading it to you and she just kept telling me no so you want a chicken Gyro no I don't want a chicken Gyro. I want a beef Gyro but I guess I'm getting forced to have a chicken one. So now I'm waiting 20min for a gyro? That's INSANE. I told her I would like to add a beverage. Will you need to go grab the drink that you want? I told her no I'm not gonna get back in the line because all of your customers in here are rude and they cut so she goes and grabs it cool things. I don't know. Just customer service here lax valet here dangerous. I say all the places in Glendale this one is in such an inconvenience spot in their manner on how they handle their clients isn't even worth coming here who does mediocre. read more

I have to say I really enjoyed my first visit to Art's! I stopped by on a weekday morning and it was pretty quiet but the nice lady behind the counter was so friendly and helpful! I mentioned it was my first time and ordered a cheese byorek, custard Napoleon and americano, but when she brought my food out on a plate there were a couple extra nazook pastries I didn't ask for. When I mentioned it she said "it's okay it's your first time". So kind of her! the pastries and coffee I paid for came to about $15, the pastries were pretty big so I felt like it was a good deal. The cheese byorek was so flaky and puffy with a really tasty cheese filling throughout. It was still crispy too! Although I liked the flavors of the napoleon, sadly it wasn't crispy at all and pretty soggy. I'm not sure how long this sat in the display but the texture was my only disappointment about it. Coffee was good, simple, and the barista was very nice too. As for the nazook - they were amazing! Me and my mom make nazook at home all the time, but with nuts and a few differences. I really wanted this to be an exciting and new site to visit, but it was not what all the hype was about. I think my wife sumed it up the best as being like a Portos with a middle-east cuisine. Service was rather slow today but the food fresh and tasty. Dining is open air patio seating in front of the restaurant and bakery. A friend recommended this spot for kabob, so I wasted no time and got there for a taste. Very impressive ambiance there, with a very long, outside front patio, wrapping around the front of this large bakery/cafe. The cute outside tables with umbrellas gave out an awesome Eastern European vibe, where the patrons are sitting in a cafe and sipping on their latte with a croissant or enjoying a nice plate of food. I tried the Beef Lula kabob plate, which came with thinly sliced baked potato, a grilled pepper and tomato, as well as with a side of Armenian salad. The Beef Lula kabob was pretty tasty, although I expected for it to be more juicy. The baked potato slices were plain, without any salt or spices. It felt like they needed a bit more flavor. The grilled veggies tasted great and very fresh. You could tell that they use quality ingredients. The Armenian salad had cut tomatoes, cucumbers and onions and was tossed in very yummy light dressing and was very delicious. You truly could taste freshness and quality all throughout , but with any Armenian food spot, I guess you just expect more marinade and spices to be in your food. My plate felt more purist, but I guess it allowed me to taste the meat and potatoes more in their pure form. In addition to a nice selection of kabobs that they cook in front of you, Art's has a variety of delicious-looking side salads and just a massive selection of baked sweet pastries and cakes. I plan to come back here with my dad so he can try this food and feel this awesome, European vibe of an ambiance. The customer service was friendly and attentive. We came with our family at 8pm. It was a nice summer night and we thought it would be great to sit on their outdoor patio. The server told us kitchen was closing at 8:30pm so we quickly put our orders in. As we were finishing up our meal we noticed the workers were cleaning up all the tables and at 9pm they turned the lights off on us. We were packaging up our leftovers in to go containers in complete darkness. I have never in my life seen a business turn the lights off on its customers while they are still finishing their meal. I understand they wanted to go home but why not just give us a warning to tell us they're closing up in a few minutes. This was beyond and I will never go back! We randomly stopped by as we needed a pick me up as we were out and about very early in the morning. We used Yelp to help find a coffee/pastry place close to where we were. Enter Art's Bakery & Cafe. The store is beautifully set up with and their cakes displayed in their cake cases were amazing. Lines are a little bit disorganized as people were waiting around the pastry cases and wandering around the stanchions looking confused as where the line starts. We started to form the line by the stanchions but people just started waiting by the registers. When we finally were able to order, we opted to order a handful of pastries and ordered an iced Einspänner Latte and an Iced Latte to enjoy with our treats. Pastries were just ok and nothing really stood out. Coffee was good, but not enough for us to come back. Overall, it was good to try but we wouldn't go out of our way to eat/drink here again. I've been here a few times and the food is always solid. Not really impressed with the bakery items. Their service is the issue. It takes way too long to get food. I'm sitting here waiting for 30 minutes. One person in our party got his food and everyone is still waiting. Spoke to the clerk and was told they are busy. No one else is in here or waiting outside. This place is ridiculous. This is the last time I will ever come here. Their attitude sucks towards customers. No offers of a drink while we sit here and wait and a lousy apology. NO ONE IS IN HERE. They probably forgot our order and don't want to admit their mistake. Stay away and yes parking here sucks. Too bad I can't give them a zero because today a zero is what they deserve. read more

Well, I needed to meet up with a friend who recently moved into the area and he suggested this place because it was a new spot he and his lady started frequenting. So, when I got there I realized this place is the ENTIRE BLOCK!! It's MASSIVE!! (I apologize about no pics this time - but, I'm pretty sure this will be a regular spot for me!) When you walk in the place almost takes your breath away. WOW! The cases are clear and amazingly stocked. It's beautiful. Check out the menu for items but, I had four different things - 2 savory and two sweet - and I was super excited. The service was also super attentive. Very helpful. Parking is plentiful. Love the neighborhood vibe of this place! I came here today for a late lunch. I had seen this place the day before on a jog and thought of giving it a try. As you immediately step inside, you get a whiff of fresh baked pastries and bbq'ed skewers. I stood in line and ordered the jalapeño beef and cheese lula kabob plate. The food took a bit of time but its to be expected for kabobs. The food was delicious, especially the salad and the beef! The hummus was also a hit. The hype is worth it - heard that this is a must try in Glendale and even visiting toward the evening there were plenty of options. I heard the honey cake and Napoleons were top options and when asking the attendant her recommends she also mentioned these and they do not disappoint. The pricing is reasonable for what you are getting and the quality is clearly there. This was my first time trying both - I'm glad I got them and appreciate that I was provided with a takeout box so I could bring home what I did not finish. Both are filling servings, and the honey cake is very dense. I know I will be returning when I come back to Glendale, and hope to try more of their options because they do a fantastic job all around! read more

I stopped by Art's Bakery & Cafe for dinner on a Monday evening. We had six people in total as part of the group. I found free parking right in front of the restaurant on the street. This was my first time trying Armenian food and I was pumped! Ambiance (3/5): Art's is both a bakery and a cafe as the name indicates. As a result, you'll see a lot of people stopping by to grab-and-go. We sat on their outdoor patio. They were kind enough to turn on some heaters for us as it was pretty chilly outside. Pretty much your typical bakery and cafe in my book. Service (3.5/5): Art's closes relatively early, but they were kind enough to let us finish our meal outdoors despite closing. I initially wanted to order the khacapuri but they said it takes 45 minutes to make so there wasn't enough time with the kitchen closing soon. They were also out of a couple of items. The timeframe given seemed pretty unlikely. You order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. Drinks (3.5/5): No alcoholic beverages at Art's. I went with an apricot juice (an Armenian brand). Food (4.5/5): Despite not being able to order my first choice, it all worked out in the end. I had the Berkshire pork which comes with bread and your choice of two sides (I went with the oven roasted potatoes and the cucumber yogurt). Talk about an incredible dish! The pork was some of the best I've had in a long time. It was juicy and bursting with flavor. Grilled just right. This is some quality pork y'all and it's what the restaurant is known for. The sides complimented the pork well. And it was a generous portion. I needed a to-go box. A fantastic meal all-around. Outside of dinner (they have a lot of non-Armenian options too like pizzas), they have a large selection of breads, pastries, and desserts. Some are Armenian and some aren't. It wasn't hard to hold and eat, I though I might be with the fries, but it was actually not overstuffed or falling out. The chicken was cut up into small cubes. A few pieces with gristle. Alas. Ambiance: 5/5 This place has a large al fresco dining outside. It was an overcast day, but lovely for sitting outside. It's busy at 1:30 pm on a Friday. Street parking only. 4.5 stars I've had cakes & food from Art's before but have never visited the bakery. I finally had the opportunity to stop in and check it out. The place is clean & spacious and there is a patio area out front with plenty of seating. The display cases were filled with lots of beautiful and tempting desserts. I was hoping to try a slice of Princess Cake, but didn't see any. Instead, I got a Chocolate Hazelnut Cupcake. The lady that assisted me was very nice. The cupcake was so pretty - a work of art. It was also very delicious! The chocolate cake base was moist. The chocolate hazelnut frosting was piped in little rosettes on top. It was creamy & smooth with a chocolatey hazelnut flavor. There was also a bit of filling in the center. My mom purchased a birthday cake from here a few months ago and it was also exceptionally good. One of the best lahmajos in town! Just the right amount of juiciness, and crunch. The flavor is on point as well. Don't forget to squeeze some lemon on it. The crazy part is that they have so much more. I tried some of their salads and baked goods and they were also great. Wonderful bakery located in Glendale that specializes in Armenian food. Really large selection of both savory and sweet pastries as well as other goods. Oh, also on one side of the space, you can order hot food such as kabobs and even pizza for take out or to enjoy there. I've been a couple of times now and the folks behind the counter have been nothing but kind and helpful. The first time I was there though, I was a little confused with the lines. I didn't want to cut, so I went into the long line where people were ordering kababs and hot menu items. But I think you can head straight to the center area where the baked items are behind glass? Being in Glendale, I would say it's impossible to not draw comparisons from another popular bakery that started close by...and I would say the vibes are pretty similar actually. Just food from a different culture. I first learned of this place when a good friend of mine brought some beef and chicken khachapuri babobs to some group gatherings. I thought they were soooo good! I made it a point to visit the spot when I was in the area. Took us a while to get out our two platters (I believe they make everything to order; we were able to be seated right next to the window that allows you to view their grilling process) but their kabobs were so delicious and I absolutely loved the salad of cucumber, tomato, onion, and bell peppers on the side. As for their bakery items, I was a fan of their napoleon as the layers were incredibly crispy, and their bird milk cake that was incredibly fudgy on top and had creamy layers of cake and cream. Personally, I don't usually go for overly sweet desserts but I still gave the almond micado a shot: loved that they incorporated nuts into the cake areas but I didn't enjoy the streaks of caramel on top Overall: anything off their grill is amazing and pastries are a hit, too.
