Funky co-op with lots of fun trinkets. A bit pricey but fun to look around in. Parking is hard to find as there are a lot of spaces here that say no parking but there are definitely cars parked in front of the sign. No taking photos inside (there are a bunch of different signs telling you this) so it's hard to describe what's for sale. Fun to take a gander inside if you happen to be in the area and find a parking spot but probably not the most exciting place to go for specifically since you'd have to fight traffic and very confusing parking rules to get here. read more

Had lunch at Urth Caffe with my daughter after the gym (still in our gym clothes) while walking back to our car we came across this cute looking store. Walked in, liked some things and bought some things. As we were ready to leave we noticed the wall in the back with the art displays. They have a beautiful piece with what looks like a woman in a turban or headpiece. They also have it painted on the wall. Considering it's permanently on the wall, think safe assumption, the woman behind desk would know the history of the painting. She said she didn't. And not in an I just work here kind of way but in a snobby tone. We got the impression she judged a book by its cover...like I said we were in gym clothes. She made it clear she had no interest in wasting her time on us. I'd like to go back and support the independent artists but not at the cost of a snob. I asked because I was interested in purchasing the painting but not after that encounter. read more

On Friday, I went here for Art and Fashion attack. It was neither my first nor my final visit. The studio spaces themselves seem amazing, and the building itself is extremely cool. They have an absurd selection of clothing, jewelry, and other items in all price levels and in every possible medium. Last time I bought earrings for my mother and a necklace for my sister; this time I bought a t-shirt. I'll most definitely return! read more

Like their neighbor, Cleveland Arts, this cooperative contains everything from boutique clothing by local designers to industrial Edison lighting. I liked the vast selection of handmade jewelry for excellent prices. While it wasn't my personal style I'd recommend shopping here for bracelets and stuff before any department store. My favorite things were probably the paintings currently on display. They had Star Wars spins and a whole series of varying sizes of X-men. See the Colossus pic for a prime example: "Moma said knock you out" indeed! The home supplies and serving ware was really nice, featuring brass, and I saw more stuff than I could photograph, but suffice it to say, this place probably has something for everyone. read more

A fun and cute place to look around if you're in the area but not worth the trip to this area by itself. Some items are very unique - candles, clothing, shoes, etc but other things are just wildly marked up. For example, some of the jewelry items available for purchase are definitely from China (I recognize the labels that the earrings are attached to). They were being sold for $36+ when they could probably be purchased online for $0.30 and I'm not exaggerating. There were also succulent and air plant arrangements that probably cost a kidney ... you know, typical hipster stuff. read more

Let me get the most obvious complaint out of the way first: Is it a great idea to blast your shoppers with a super-loud rock band in the middle of your store at one in the afternoon? The noise coming out of the Arts District Co-Op is just ridiculous. On a recent pre-Christmas visit, at the back of the store was this terrible band that was like some horrible cliché of bad baby boomer wannabe rockers - all long frizzy gray hair. They played shapeless songs completely devoid of hooks or tunes, but they made sure to play them loud, turning their amps up to eleven so every nook and cranny was filled with their blaring mediocrity. It's a relatively small enclosed space, not Yasgur's farm or Altamont Speedway, so why would a band pack in so many amps dialed to stun? How many sales did The Grate-Filled Duds lose for the proprietors that day? More than a few, I'd wager. Not that the Arts District Co-Op is much better than that terrible band. Signs everywhere tell patrons that no photography is permitted - often not a good omen. There seemed to be no staff in the store save one guy who came up to a display of scented candles as I looked at them and conspicuously fronted-and-faced them - but didn't bother to ask if I needed any help, had questions, etc. (Maybe that terrible loud music had affected his vision.) After he manhandled some candles - mancandled? - he went right back to the register. Uh huh, okay. Whatever - I'm gonna sniff all your stupid overpriced candles and get them all out of alignment, jerk. There are just racks and racks of weird, ugly clothes - it's mostly clothes - and other unappealing stuff (cheap sunglasses, generic "art"). Basically, the Arts District Co-Op made me think, "Oh, so THIS is where all that tacky, overpriced junk lives when it's not on sale at the Renaissance Fair." Co-Op? It's pretty much all Cr-Ap. But the cherry on top was the fact that the owner followed me and my friends around the whole store thinking that we were going to steal. I have no idea why he had to follow US around and no one else in the store. We stated that we felt uncomfortable with him following us but he still kept doing it! Almost made me WANT to steal. I was going to buy a nice candle from here until the employee or manager in charge made me feel unwelcome. I had a backpack on and he just assumed I was going to steal so he preyed behind me and my friend and each candle I touched he anally put it right back, obnoxiously moving it back to its exact centimeter. He made us extremely uncomfortable, yet also it was quite comical.. everytime he fixed the candles, I would walk back and look at them again and then he would passive aggressively move the candles back. We exchanged this several times as he walked behind me and my friend as we shopped. Not a big deal, just saying I wanted to actually buy that candle but he prematurely judged us. He did make the shopping experience entertaining for me haha. If you want a snooty experience with overpriced clothes from China this is your spot! (candles are nice though) read more

I remember when this place use to be a flea market that opened once or twice a week. It wasn't as organized and there was no cohesiveness but it was the Arts District, it was LA. There has been a handful of improvements since my last visit and I'm glad to see it! There use to be this enormous empty space on the left from the entrance and it was a performance space. There was a piano with a mic stand and a couple speakers. There was no divide or designation between music space and retail space. Retailers used clothing racks and maybe one wall to set the parameters of their shop. Each shop ranged in different sizes which is neither good or bad, it was what gave the entire place a flea market vibe. Now, the moment of walking in, there is a shop left and right. There are tables of jewelry and racks of clothes in every turn. Every inch is utilized to showcase merchandise. I did not keep count as to how many shops were selling before this visit but there must be 5 - 6 main shops currently renting space. It does seem less but each store has a lot more space! Original graffiti and artwork are left untouched. There is even a mini gallery hallway towards the left side from the entrance. This place differently has changed it vibe. It is more boutique-ish and prices may vary but can be compared to that of a shopping mall. The quality is great and there is still a feeling of an Artisan uniqueness to the items for sale. The Arts District is evolving and more and more businesses are planting their roots. This area is awesome for a relaxing Sunday! Shopping here and there, grubbing on delicious food at Urth and sipping on handcrafted coffee and enjoying local graffiti. A visit will not hurt! read more

My only review because most things are pleasant in life but the owner will mansplain and use his patriarchal power over customers. I accidentally over looked the signs which read "do not take pictures" being a silly head I inadvertently took a picture while trying on sunglasses.. the owner hurriedly walked over to intimidate me and my friend for taking a picture of ourselves.. we profusely apologized and he still continued to reprimand us and humiliate asking us "if we can read?".. while we were leaving he continued to stare at me and my friend all the way well passed the sidewalk across the street. To the owner: I am sorry your son ran away but there is no reason to act a terrible parent to your visitors. Eat shit and die. read more

Stopped by Urth Caffe and noticed that there was a cute warehouse sale here hidden in the alley and decided to stop by. It's not too overwhelmingly big inside, but it's a cute place to look around in. It's a small warehouse that have different local businesses selling variety of things. Shops included women's and men's clothing (mostly women), jewelry, sunglasses, art, etc. Love supporting local artists and businesses. Found a cute double-layered choker necklace here that I'm obsessed with. Check it out if you're here, you'll never know what you'll find (: Ambience is definitely on the hipster side. Also, there are two angel wing graffiti arts that create for the perfect photo op! read more

This isn't really a flea market. It sounds like it was at one point, but I wouldn't say it is anymore. Sure, there are used goods you can purchase. However, It seemed more like a crafts fair but fancified. I saw more handmade and original pices. They had entertainment (musical talent) playing inside. There's a couple clothing lines I'm gushing over, but I didn't get the info to buy it online. I'll have to come back for it. They also had the Ridges churro truck at this location the day I went. A cool place to meander if you just so happen to be in the Arts District. Lots of great places to eat and murals nearby as well. read more

We visited here while waiting for the best distillery tour ever across the street at Lost Spirits Distillery. Could have spent hours longer in this cool spot, and had to choose carefully to not break my bank. That being said, I had to wait for the girl at the register to get off her phone to answer my question, and was never greeted or offered help. Not that I needed it previous to this, but she was clearly occupied our entire visit. Maybe social media marketing? I'll give her the benefit . . . I TOTALLY get why there are no photos allowed in an arts coop though. These are original items, and the point is they do not want their ideas copied. There are so many "complaints" about that, maybe that should be clarified? I love the arts, and I do not NEED to feel welcomed, so I am still giving this cool spot 4 stars because I got what I went in for. read more

This is a really cute venue hidden behind Urth Cafe in Downtown. There are approximately 2 dozen small vendors and they will be here all summer. Cool trinkets and lots of clothes. Most of the clothing here is suited for young hip women. There is 1 men's clothing stand. Other things you will find are: Portrait artiest, iphone/ ipad cameras, furniture, tea, antique arts, etc... etc... etc.. I wouldn't necessarily come here specifically but I would definitely stop by if I were hanging out at Urth. Also, check out the portrait artist, she's pretty cool. :) read more

Same as all the other reviews, the guy at the front came up to me and my husband and friends while they were trying on sunglasses, very rudely stated "did you not see the sign about pictures?" Even after apologizing he proceeded to stand there and wait for us to leave. Stared at us the entire time and basically followed us out of the store. Most unwelcoming and unforgiving store ever. This place is so adorable. There is a wide variety of items - from women & men's clothing to accessories to art, you really have a lot to choose from! I purchased a cute outfit from Living A Dream Boutique. I walked out wearing it and the guy working helped me get all the tags cut and made sure it was fitting right. I appreciate the extra help! The art work outside of the building is so fun, and I great photo op! I loved that this area was slightly tucked away and less trafficked. Maybe that was because it was a Sunday? But I like to shop when it's less crowded so it was perfect for me! This is a great area to stop and support local artists and vendors! read more

One of my fav spots to walk around during my lunch break. Lots of great of mostly women's clothes (a few choices for men and children) and jewelry. Especially when you're looking for something that's not in every chain retail store. All the merchants I've ran into were all very friendly and helpful. On Fridays, there's a regular food truck (bo*he*mi*a) is usually there. Bonus! :) Be sure to check them out during the weekends. Third Saturdays of every month, the Co-op along with local business work together for an event and have more vendors available. Good thing that most of my visits are mostly "window shopping" or else I would be broke. :))) read more

The Arts District Flea is a newborn baby marketplace, tucked away in the middle of a neighborhood that is undergoing a fresh wave of revitalization. In a few years, it will be rad to look back and see how much more life has developed around it. Just a short walk down the street from Urth Café, and super walkable from the heart of the Arts District Hub (Angel City Brewery, Umami, Pie Hole, etc.) this little flea deserves a visit. Local vendors with fresh takes on everything from trendsetting fashion (@Shywilder) to art work, accessories and a photo booth. The space is spacious and super clean. This place is nice but it kind of sucks! First off went there to check out the art/stuff for sale and as soon as you get to the entrance it says no pictures allowed. I get that but it is the Art district after all, I wanted to take pics of the inside to share with those who follow me. Not only that was uninviting but the cashier girl didn't even welcome us we had to greet her and that's when she lifted her head and nose out of her phone and acknowledged us. I work in HR/Customer Service so I'm used to always conversing and making people feel comfortable and I did not feel that here. This place is so overpriced and do not recommend it. I think going to an art walk on first Fridays or Thursday's (depending your city) is way better. read more

After going to Urth Caffe, my friend and I were messing around and taking pictures with the awesome graffiti in the alley. We didn't notice the Co-op because it was around 11:45 and it was not open yet, but the guy setting up shop inside saw me taking a photo with some Adventure Time graffiti and asked us if we wanted a picture with the mural inside (because it had Finn in it!). Can I just say...what a cool use of this space this is?! It was so nice of him to let us wander around the floor and check out the cool art and other items the vendors had to offer. I saw a lot of clothes, jewelry, handmade bags, and the like. There are fitting rooms, and a bathroom for convenience. He also told us that the band Palaye Royale was coming to play. I've never heard of them, but they're actually pretty popular according to their YouTube views. The wares they had were not really my thing, but it's well worth a look to support local artists and small businesses. I don't know if "flea market" is really the appropriate name for this place, because it seemed pretty bougie. I guess...flea market for people who hate flea markets? Apparently they'll be open Tuesday-Thursday in addition to their normal Friday-Sunday beginning June 2nd! First off, I must say, I'm not a fan of flea market shopping..... no way! Always thought I would be entering an environment of someone else's cast offs, then they repaired it/washed it or whatever else.... and then it becomes yours....if you buy it. My general ideas were shaped or formed through my mother who loved to go antique shopping. Never could understand why people would like to buy this old stuff....but 'restored" back to its original glory. Really? Only later on, finally realized there is value in these restored items, whether it be clothing or furniture. But what was really really weird, I was passing by this market in the cool and trendy DTLA arts district, on one of those perfect LA weekends and I thought.... "what the hell, I'm not doing anything special today". So I went in, a little reservedly of course. What I found was a lot of people selling really unique and NEW stuff from furniture, to large scale paintings, to clothing, jewelry and some other bizarre stuff I've never seen. WOW! Not what I expected. This does not make me a flea market fien for life.... HELL no. This building is very clean, they play cool music, there are several vendors but it's not jammed packed (thank God... I hate getting lost). Why would I go back ? The really unique jewelry from turkey from a woman who was classy and upscale (beautiful too), and then there's this other guy who is selling one of a kind eyeglass frames ( I WANT ) and then there is another fashionista girl who is selling super cool and NEW clothing that she designed herself. Huh... Not bad..... I'm gonna check up on this market more often, I think I can always find something unique & different & NEW so I can keep up with my image of being classy yet finding unique items that you will never find on Robertson, Melrose or Rodeo Drive. read more

I think there is a lot of potential here. This is the kind of market I love to support- local artisans selling some really beautiful quality goods, from jewelry, to clothing, candles, and I saw last weekend some pretty bitchin' light fixtures and coffee tables. There's even a bicycle repair shop there! It's pretty small right now, so it wasn't very busy, but I really think it'd be a great destination point for weekenders if they could add more vendors. Having Urth Caffe nearby is definitely helpful in terms of local foot traffic. But however small, they certainly make up for with quality. I really loved all of the vendors' goods. It's not cheap, so 'flea market' might be misleading (also all the products are new or upcycled, so again, misleading), BUT when someone takes the time to design and produce a handmade, quality product you should expect to pay a little more. Plus, you're supporting the local economy. To me, it's win-win :) I will definitely be back! read more

I wanted to like this market a lot more than I did. The building itself is cute and I think it has potential, but it just felt lacking inside. Most of it was women's clothing, a couple of jewelry places, art, candles and one vintage decor shop in the back corner that did have some great pieces. Nothing else really caught my attention and I didn't think that the quality of the photography prints was good enough to justify the prices. I think if they added more vendors with a bigger variety of crafts, it could eventually catch on. Otherwise, not worth a trip unless you're already in the area. read more

I live around the corner from the Arts District Co-op and stopped in one afternoon and picked up a dress from one of the stores called "Latin Posh" https://www.facebook.com/LATINPOSH. The very first day I put on the jumper the zipper broke. Good thing that I lived around the corner from the Arts District Co-op! I can just drop by and get a refund. Isn't that the point of shopping locally at small businesses? The good thing was the the lady there remembered me. (I had just bought the dress a week ago). The bad thing was that they told me the product was damaged (DUH!) and that it smelled like food and they wouldn't give me a refund or exchange. The Arts District Co-Op sells poor quality goods and unlike other stores that sells things at equivalent prices, they don't stand by their products. Local shopping is about personal quality and creativity. But, they sell poor quality goods here and don't stand by them. read more

I discovered this flea market by accident since we were looking to find decent parking in order to eat at Urth cafe. The place is small but they have a few interesting vendors but I do wish they had more vendors in their building. This is nice location because it's inside, not outside to save you from the heat or cold. I went for a 2nd visit to find a table that I was interested in, but it was sold.
