He's been great at fixing problems when they have come up as well as alerting us to things that need future attention. We called Topp Plumbing and Heating with a boiler problem and even though he was very busy, he quickly assessed the problem over the phone, got the needed part and he and his apprentice, Jeremiah, came out to install it on his way to other calls. We have used Matt Topp since 2015 when we called upon him to correct a plumbing issue that another plumber could not. We have used him a number of times since for both planned heating and plumbing upgrades as well as called upon him for emergencies. He is great to work with in both situations. He gave us several options when we were replacing our boiler and was good about explaining the pros and cons of each. And when we've had urgent heating and plumbing problems, he is quick to respond including giving us advice over the phone on what to do until he could get out to fix the problem. Where do i start??? Put them at 1 star because 0 stars wasn't an option or would have. It's just 2 employees - father blames son, then son blames father, then they blame others/suppliers and on and on. They install used parts, charge for new and then wonder why installs fail?!?! They try to up-sell and force change orders as well. Very dishonest business practices. Look at all the bad reviews and decide for yourself - really disappointed and wish I had never ever called them for any work at my place. read more

This is a terrible company and Matt is so not customer focused and sent my wife horrible emails after installing a hot water heater using the incorrect set up....asked him to come back out and fix. If I shared his response you would never use this guy. His son installed and incorrectly set it up and my wife was immediately blamed because she didn't use the brand that Matt suggested and he told her if he had to make any changes he would be forced to void her warranty. His son broke the grout on the tile putting back the washing machine, broke the door that hides the washer, dryer and hot water heater and didn't hook up the dryer vent etc etc. They took zero ownership and after seeing the above review we kick ourselves in the backside for even calling these incompetent people. Terrible, installed a water heater using the wrong type of flue vent, came back and tried to blame the roofers for their mistakes. Charged me for conversion from galvanized flue to stainless after the third service call. There was a phone number of the manufacturer on the front of the unit, they did not bother to call it when they installed it, finally after 4 service calls. The called the number. Total rip off don't use. I for one am reporting them to construction industries. This is what he wrote on my invoice: If find it strange. All that we have done for you that has performed perfectly. Matt and his team have come to my rescue 2 times since I bought my house last spring. He responds immediately. He and his team are polite, neat, and efficient. Immediately after closing the water company notified me of a leak of 18 gallons an hour during the time the house was unoccupied. He coordinated with the leak detection people on a very unusual situation that involved a survival tank. He acted as my advocate in dealing with the sellers of the home and their realtor over what should be done. He came again today when I discovered a leak in my water heater pipe, giving me instructions on what to do until he got to my home. I highly recommend him. read more

I had two of his employees come over to my rental house to hook up a new gas stove, they were very professional, knowledgeable, and very nice. It was a very easy job but they both took the time and made sure it was done correctly and even took the time to align the stove and make sure it was level. Prompt response to my call, did the job quickly and explained everything well. He installed a hot water circulation pump, so the water is hot at the sink at the other end of my house from the water heater. Also, I got a good explanation for the negative review from Brad A. (I do not know why this post says I live in San Diego, I live in Santa Fe, NM! -- Mary) Matthew Topp is professional and fast. He and a helper installed a new gas heating stove in our Eldorado home just yesterday. Our old one died last week and we needed the new one installed before Thanksgiving as we have guests coming today from out of state for the holiday week. We were prepared to be told that it wouldn't happen for a week or more but he shuffled work around and got us done in a matter of hours. We were concerned because he had to install a new stovepipe requiring a larger hole in the roof--no problem, no mess, no fuss. Works and looks great! And I should add--at a very fair price.
