They took me right away and OMG, the lady found my knots in 2 seconds, used hot towels and now I can move my neck and shoulders. Then I left and across the street is Duane reade so I got hot patches. I also got candy after my massage lol but I'm coming back again. This is the best spot ever if you want to be cured. Also $70 for an amazing hour massage is unheard of in NYC. Solid no frills massage parlor. Calm music, responsive employees, cheap for nyc. It's a small place in a corporate building. Second floor. Went for the first time today. Walked in feeling a bit lost, but an employee kindly found me and asked what I was looking for. I opted for the 75 min option at $75 + tax+ tip in cash. I haven't had a massage since Covid and man, did I need one after 60-70 hr weeks hunched over a desk during what felt like somewhat of an apocalypse. The prices for these services in nyc in general are a lot. This would cost me an easy 200 average place that includes frills. Then there's the NYC retails tax at about 8.8%, the fee if you pay with a credit card at 2%ish, and tip at 20% minimum, totaling at around $275. If I had the money I would try it, but I don't. The place was curtained off with a massage bed. Everything off except the undies. There's a hook to hang your things. I struggle with communicating and people in general because social anxiety or whatever. So I brought an image where I highlighted the areas of the body that I wanted to focus on. And my masseuse focused on those areas, I'm happy with the responsiveness there The massage was deep, nice, with hard pressure when I needed... the neck and shoulders, oh the neck and shoulders. When I felt that it was too much I popped my head up a little and asked for it to be a bit softer and she adjusted. I really enjoyed the massage. I'd recommend you check this place if you need a massage at the good price. I'm probably going to go back. Also this may just be me, I also have sensory issues, but I think the vicinity next door may smell a bit like garbage.... But then again New York smells like garbage. Do not go. This place shakes you down before letting you leave. Doesn't matter how much tip you leave, they'll tell you it's not enough and harass you. Additionally, this was a terrible massage, I don't know how this is even possible but my jaw is sore and nearly locked from the massage. Then after we paid I was harassed about the tip. I'm hesitant to write this review, because it's already hard enough to get an appointment on the weekends and I don't want the place to blow up! But it's an absolute gem and if you have chronic back pain you need to be coming here for your massages. Nicole, who runs the front desk, and Emma, my massage therapist, are both such lovely ladies. The place is very clean and the beds are comfortable. Most importantly, it's SUPER quiet because it's located in large commercial office building so you don't hear any outside noise from the street at all. Emma's massages are fantastic. She takes her time and is extremely talented. Once you go a few times, they really get to know you and customize your massages to levels unheard of for a no frills spa. For example, Emma knows that I get cold during my massages no matter the weather, so she always heats up a weighted buckwheat wrap in the microwave to keep my lower back warm while she is working on my upper back etc. Totally above and beyond service! The cupping is great here as well--very professional and they use high grade cups. And of course, the prices are fantastic! I always try to tip extra because the prices are just so good. Found this place on yelp! I got a deep tissue massage from Amy and she was amazing! She is very strong. I appreciated her. What I loved about this place was their prices. They are in an office building that is open to the public (thank you to the other reviews that made it easy for me to find). You will go up the escalators on the second floor. My original appointment was for 6p, but I got there early because I am unfamiliar with the area. They were willing to accommodate me and get me in earlier. I am here visiting, but I definitely will try and return before I leave NYC. Other posts call this place a hidden gem, and they did not lie. The pricing is even better than what I ever expected to find for an hour massage in NYC. Tip: They take cash and card, but I think they prefer cash. Due to the amazing reviews on yelp we tried this spot out back in 2016 and ever since we return at least 4 times a year as it is a far drive from us now. Its not super fancy but the quality of the deep tissue massage if you like pressure is excellent. Throughout the years I had a list of my favorite masseuse (Lidia and Coco) but majority are here on a work visa from China and most of the time the masseuse are new and your favorite from last visit is no longer there. I always go for the two hours and skip the cupping as it takes away from the massage time. So inexpensive compared to other places, give it a try! read more

I agree with the other negative reviews being posted. This place is weird, and the some of the ladies are very rude. First, they had me wait 10 mins which is not great but not that big of a deal. Second, the massage was great and really made me feel better. However, I had a similar experience when it came time to tip. I gave my massage therapist over 20%, and she became visibly upset. Her coworker was also present and said that wasn't enough, and I should give more. I was a bit shocked & confused, but they were doing the same thing to another woman who was leaving and kept asking her for more money, too. I am not going back and I would advise others not to either (unless you want to be treated poorly). read more

The quality of the massage is by far the stand-out, and it's what makes in my opinion the best massage for the value. It's a place wherein you can just really trust to the professionals. I get massages 2-3times a month and was really excited that I found a place that is so easy to get to location wise. A's Body works is located in a beautiful office building and the massage place was okay. Nice relaxing music, good massage dim lighting and good aroma. I'm super glad they were able to take me last minute for a 1.5 hour massage and I was excited to try this place out after I checked out the yelp rating. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. The staff were all nice but my messuage didn't really seem to know what she was doing. She had a few techniques and kept repeating them over and over. It was truly an okay massage and I was expecting a bit more. I was a little taken aback though when I was paying, I calculated a 20% tip on my calculator and asked for change back for my $20. However the cashier told me "usually people leave $20 for tip" and didn't give me my cash back. It was very awkward especially since $20 is over 20%. I realize now looking at other reviews that they are weird about the tip but I felt a bit duped? Overall it was really just a mixed experience, I really don't know if I would recommend. read more

Most of the positive reviews here are accurate. Take heed to the negative reviews; there Is truth there as well. My massage was great. Pressure was good and the lady was respectful and kind. My wife felt they were too aggressive, but she prefers a lighter massage than I do. There are no frills at all in this place, it is dark and dated, but acceptable if you're not looking for ambience. Prices are posted on the walls, but they will charge you more for using a card. Then, they will ask for a $15 per person tip and laugh if you try to offer less. I was expecting a full body massage whereas I got a backrub only. The massage was good and the technique was solid, however, when I asked them what about the Front and the Thighs, the masseuse said "Oh we do not do that", if you book 90-mins we will do the feet but that is it. I was a bit surprised that did I just book a back-rub / half-body massage? This should be very clear. I am not sure if this is due to COVID or not but either way, the messaging should be clear. Also, typically a masseuse asks you where you want to focus or if the pressure is alright, I was not asked either. If a focus area was discussed, it would've clarified the backrub vs full body confusion as well. Since the tip is pretty much mandatory, the 1-hr massage is actually $75-80 and not $60. For a "half-body" massage, the price point is quite steep. There are other good and decent massage parlors in the area that still offer full-body at that price point. A's should tell you very specifically that it's ONLY a backrub or perhaps consider renaming themselves to "A's Back Works"! The place is in a mall so you know it is legit. The beds are alright and the other rooms are separated by curtains so you will hear other people if they talk. Overall, if you're looking for a backrub only and willing to pay ~$80, this is a good place and I would recommend it. Otherwise, please look at some other options. read more
