We recently hired ASA Flooring to refinish a very old existing wood floor on a rental property. Steve was prompt in returning my call for a quote and met me the very next day to assess the floor in person. He gave great advice on how he would fix up the floor if it was his property (ultimately saving us money on a couple water-damaged areas that we might have otherwise opted to replace, that looked great with just a little sanding) and he gave us competitive rates. The work was done promptly, in line with our schedule and with very minimal dust (his team did a great job of cleaning up!). ASA did a fantastic job on our floors. First, they came by within a couple days after I requested a quote. They were able to come early in the morning, since my husband and I both work full-time. Then, they did the flooring job exactly within our time parameters, even finishing a little early. We had carpet removed from three upstairs bedrooms and replaced with wood flooring. The stairs and foyer were already wood, so ASA matched the new wood to the foyer expertly. The floors look absolutely gorgeous. The cost was below my expectations and, based on what friends paid others, a really good deal. ASA recommended 2 coats of polyurethane, but because they finished early, we decided to spend a bit more and get a third coat. Definitely pleased with that decision. In sum, we were very pleased with ASA and would absolutely recommend them. read more

The ASA team is very professional - we got updates from the owner every couple of days, and when we had some minor finishing touch-ups, he had his team come back promptly to ensure it was completed to our expectations. We also had some anxiety around selecting a stain color, and his installers were able to show us samples on our floor and provide their professional input on the drawbacks of a darker floor. I just had ASA tear out my old kitchen tiles and Berber carpet and put in new hardwood floors. I was out of town for 3 of the 5 days of work. They did a beautiful job. We hired ASA to install red oak floors in our master bedroom to match the rest of the house, and it was a glue down job on concrete slab which increases the difficulty. They did a fantastic job and maintained an aggressive schedule. We have a baby at home and they made the extra effort to tape off basically half of our house so we could stay in our home until the sanding and finishing began. The quality of work was top notch and the workers were very courteous with a child around by being quiet and not slamming doors when coming and going. Five stars. read more

Unfortunately, there are a few negative reviews that are simply not a fair. I called 4 flooring companies and Steve was the only one to call me back. I don't think it's fair to give the other companies poor reviews because of this. Steve was very responsive, early to our appointment. He was very thorough and explained the process. I have mixed feelings about ASA Flooring after their lack of responsiveness. Overall, I would say they did a great job on our wood floors. We restored hardwoods from 1959 and the team was able to make them look gorgeous. Where I am upset is their communication and follow up. My floors were finished over three weeks ago, and because we were flipping the house, multiple other projects were happening. Some of the painters who were touching up got some paint on the wood floors and we have been contacting ASA for a follow up touch up session with no luck. We are not expecting ASA to pay for these mistakes, we truly just want them fixed. I am a teacher, and it's tough for me to make phone calls during the day, but I am responsive over email and have had no luck. The whole situation has made me very uncomfortable. Overall, I would say that ASA is a fine company to work with if you have the patience. read more

Like another previous reviewer, I can't give ASA Flooring more than one star because Steve wasn't responsive and then just failed to show up for our scheduled appointment to give me a bid on refinishing my wood floors. I'm chuckling that his website says, "It takes years to create a good reputation, but only minutes to ruin one." Indeed. Steve failed to respond to my initial email inquiry to his website. Then he seemed disinterested in my job when I called him, but did schedule a time to come by to provide an estimate. I confirmed the date and time by text. Today I waited around for an hour and a half while Steve failed to show. When I contacted him by text, he called to say "sorry" but last week was crazy, the appointment didn't make it on his calendar, something about just getting back into town, totally his fault, blah, blah, blah. Maybe his work is great, but who has time to chase down a contractor? Not me. read more
