I randomly came across this restaurant when I realized how hungry I was as I was driving through this neighborhood. I was looking for a full bar, Mexican food, and a place with good reviews with outdoor seating. I decided to stop in this restaurant and I am glad that I did because their Mezcal options were really good. Plus, the chips, guacamole, and salsa are really good snack. The location is at an outlet shopping center but is not inside the actual location where the stores are. This is across the parking lot standing on its own connected to other restaurants so it's not crazy with parking and traffic. During the weekend there is a typical wait time but just make a reservation and you should be good! You can sit outside or you can sit inside where their decorations are so cute. If you're looking for some good drinks this is a place to go! read more

The drinks were over priced and distasteful and the food...Well, took the first bite and I was already asking for the check. The Cilantro Carne Asada plate and salad is the bomb. Probably best asada meat I've had in a long time. Portions are generous and great food quality. Prices are also very good for everything. We got the kids the mini burrito which they liked. Finally we had the large guacamole as a starter which was quite tasty and good. Note there is a kick of spiciness with the jalapeño! Here is the perfect Sunday: park at Asada and walk across the street to Summit Trail for a hike down to the ocean...go across PCH to the San Clemente Beach Trail and enjoy a beautiful walk along the sand. Had to try this place out after my parents raved about it. Didn't think such a vibrant, trendy place would be located in an outlet mall. This place was really good, I have to admit. A fun place to go with friends or take a date, but you may find it difficult to hear your date talk as the joint gets pretty loud; we had to get re-seated so we weren't yelling at each other the entire time. The food was really good and drinks didn't disappoint either. This isn't a casual Mexican restaurant; this is south county's competition to Javier's or Red-O (without the pretentiousness). It is sure going to help change South of Nick's complacency in being THE go-to fine dining authentic Mexican restaurant in town. Staff at Asada - from manager Abner who started with the company bussing tables to Adam our server - are sincere, friendly and non-pretentious - like my other favorites in SC - Vine and Fishermans. The salsa is to write home about, the tortilla chips light and non-greasy. Love that they substitute grilled veggies for tortillas or rice and beans! The good: I was able to make same day reservations online easily and I was seated immediately upon arriving. I liked that they had both indoor and outdoor seating options and that the indoor area opened up with their big windows to the outdoor space. The interior has a Spanish mission feel to it with crosses, dark woods and high ceilings. Their complimentary tortilla chips came out hot and were nice, crunchy and thin. It came with a salsa. For dessert, I tried the tres leches cake with pineapple, coconut and cream and it was delicious. I had the cilantro lime steak salad with avocado, red onion, cilantro, tomato, black beans, corn and a lime vinaigrette. I liked that they asked how I wanted the meat cooked. The salad was very nice, large and the dressing was refreshing and zesty. It was $19 and was enough to feed 2 people. My brother had a blood orange margarita and they didn't skimp on the booze. I tried my husband's soft taco plate and loved the Mexican rice that came with it. Their refried and black beans were also good. The bad: The complimentary salsa would have been better spicier. I didn't taste much pineapple in the tres leches cake. We had to flag down our waitress a few times to get service. She was pretty busy. The interesting: This restaurant is located across the parking lot in the shopping outlets. It is a massive restaurant with plenty of parking. They offer gift cards online. This place has all the chic cantina feelz. The birria is soooooo SOOOOOOO good. Try not to skip it. That short rib is rich and very flavourful, it's craveable. I had to stop at the first bite. I need to contain my brain from all the feels it gets you know what I mean? You want to cry, laugh, scream, hug people and give everyone a high 5 for that short rib birria bite. It's excellent. Asada is great and turns out a wide variety of dishes well. The menu is thoughtfully put together and they are accommodating with substitutions and requests, too. The food that comes to the table is always good. The uneven part here can be the service. Not that the service isn't always polite, professional, masked, and friendly. But there's no way to check all those boxes when you're only one of three servers on covering a busy area on a weekend evening. Asada is also really great at making sure their staff is safe and handles parties smoothly. Portions are also generally quite generous so plan to take some with you, split an entree or have half plated and half packed at service. read more

This is a decent place if you're looking for a more "fine dining" lunch or dinner, as the ambiance is nice and welcoming. The staff was friendly, and wait time was around 10-15 mins. We ordered the green enchiladas, the Cabo jerky, and the mahi mahi fish tacos. I was let down by the enchiladas, as the salsa had no hint of spice, and no taste of the actual chilis. Everything else about the dish was good, but the salsa is a deal breaker. The tacos were just ok, but the corn didn't belong. The Cabo Jerky wasn't amazing either. A lot of mayonnaise in the cole slaw, and although the chicken was cooked well, it lacked flavor. Overall, the best thing here are the drinks, but it's a nice place with whatever food. read more
