    Barbacoa Burrito

I walk past Asada pretty much every day and decided today was finally the day to try it. It's usually pretty crowded, but obviously Friday in the Loop is a ghost town. I settled on the barbacoa burrito and was really happy with my decision. It was a lot of food and tasty too. It wasn't that expensive either. I'd highly recommend stopping by if you work in the Loop or just happen to be around.

We stopped at Asada for lunch after a trip to Shedd Aquarium. I'd been wanting to go to Asada since I found out about it being halal, but never got a chance previously. The signage isn't great, so you might drive by without noticing it because the letters don't stick out. The interior is pretty spacious, but no washrooms. We ordered a steak burrito and a chicken bowl. Pricing was very reasonable for the quantity of food we got. They also included two small bags of freshly made tortilla chips, which were nice and crispy. They included napkins and forks on the tray, but we had to ask separately for a plastic knife. They also included a green salsa and a hot red salsa on the tray. My wife enjoyed the steak burrito overall, but commented that there was no avocado in it, which she would have liked. The chicken bowl was okay. Nice selection of items like sour cream, rice, shredded cheese, and fajita veggies. The chicken was just okay, though. The dish wasn't bad, but certainly didn't blow me away. But for what it is -- a place for workers in the financial district to grab a quick bite -- it's fine. Fairly priced food with average taste. It's not a fine cuisine type of Mexican restaurant. You could get higher quality food at La Charanga in the suburbs, but it also costs more. With that in mind, Asada's decent for lunch if you're in the area. I just wouldn't venture out to the city for this alone. 3.5 stars

Salad with chicken - huge portion and plenty of toppings

This review is long overdue - sorry Asada! A couple things that I noticed having moved to the Loop in 2017: 1. Good Mexican was hard to come by in the downtown area, and 2. Breakfast burritos weren't really a thing in Chicago. Asada was the life-saving solve for both (okay, a bit dramatic, but good Mexican food is important to a native Californian!). Two menu items were my mainstays: the breakfast burrito and salad (yes, a salad). Inside the breakfast burritos are the perfect, melty, meaty mixture of steak or chicken (both options are amazing), eggs, potatoes (french fries), and cheese. For the cherry on top, they then toast the burrito on the grill. Portions are huge - you can probably split in half for the average eater, and it costs ~$6. Salads never feel worth it for me, especially when I get hungry two hours later. But not Asada's. The salad also comes with plenty of protein (try the spicy shrimp as well), is loaded with toppings including avocado (not extra!), and is accompanied by a delicious / unique chipotle ranch dressing. Even the salad can serve as two meals. Free chips are included with each meal and come with amazing red and green salsas. Everything I've tried here is delicious - heck, sometimes I would just get a side of rice and refried beans to satisfy my Mexican fix. One of the best hidden gems in the Loop - next time that Chipotle line is too long, give Asada a try!

Halal mexican spot in downtown. The barbacoa tacos are pretty good! The steak and chicken tacos were a little on the dry side but slapped on some guac and made it much better!! The guacamole and chips were pretty decent! Definitely filled us up real good!

Easy on your pockets! It's a tasty lunch time fillee. Veggies, meat and a cold drink on the side! Yes! Get a steak bowl, you will indeed enjoy!

A nice small and clean place to eat downtown. I was out on my lunch and discover this place walking down Wells Street. I'm a Big fan of Mexican Food so this was a bonus for me. I ordered the chicken & steak (mixed) nachos. The chips were fresh and crispy. Nice size portion of food. Delicious and fresh season flavors. Awesome customer service. Great place to come for lunch. Prices are ok especially for downtown

Wow! I read someone else's review and saw that they had breakfast burritos for right around $5. You really can't beat that price in the loop. When i went inside at 8 am the first thing I noticed was that the three employees were cleaning. A quick glance around and you could tell that this place was immaculately clean. I ordered the steak breakfast burrito which comes with potatoes, egg, cheese, your choice of meat and pico. I loved how it wasn't stuffed full of potatoes and the burrito wasn't soggy from the pico. The small pieces of steak were tender and the burrito was the perfect size and filling for breakfast. And looking at their lunch menu, it seems like their burritos and bowls run about $7.50. I would try their lunch here one day but know I'll definitely be back for another one of their breakfast burrito.

Well, it's not expensive and it fills you up. Steak burrito was extremely salty. I gave it a try but I won't come back. Sorry.

I made this reservation more than a month in advance and was genuinely excited when I finally snagged a table. Thankfully, the meal delivered. The space itself is exactly what I hoped for--minimal, chic, and effortlessly cool. Nothing feels overdesigned or trendy for the sake of being trendy. The menu is also refreshingly approachable. It's creative without being overwhelming, and there's enough variety that everyone can find something they'll love. Before I even get into the food, I have to give a huge shoutout to our server, Kona. She was absolutely incredible and deserves a raise. Attentive without hovering, knowledgeable without being pretentious, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a great experience. Service like that elevates an entire meal. The drinks were fantastic too. Strong, well-balanced, and with enough variety that there's truly something for everyone. I had both a Manhattan and an Old Fashioned, and neither disappointed. The Manhattan was bold and spirit-forward, while the Old Fashioned was exactly what I wanted--strong, slightly sweet, and the perfect companion to dessert. To start, we ordered the Pita & Dips, and thank goodness we did. The pita itself is enormous, warm, and beautifully prepared. The dips were fresh, vibrant, and packed with flavor. It's one of those dishes that seems simple on paper but ends up being one of the most satisfying things on the table. The famous Green Beans absolutely lived up to the hype. Kona came by and suggested pairing them with the halibut, which is exactly the kind of thoughtful service that makes a difference. She didn't have to do that, but she did, and she was right. The green beans were incredible--crunchy, savory, addictive, and somehow far more exciting than green beans have any right to be. I'd honestly come back just for this dish. The Pan-Roasted Halibut was another standout. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. The acidity cut through the richness of the fish while the subtle sweetness tied everything together. It felt bright and refined without losing comfort-factor. The Goat Empanadas were exactly what fried food should be. Crispy, flavorful, and impossible to stop eating. Sometimes restaurants try to overcomplicate things, but this dish succeeded because it simply executed the fundamentals perfectly. Then came the Roasted Pig Face, which might have been the most fun dish of the night. Mixing everything together transformed the plate into something completely different from its individual parts. The textures were fantastic, and the potatoes added an element I wasn't expecting but thoroughly enjoyed. It's playful, creative, and a perfect example of why Girl & the Goat became famous in the first place. And then dessert happened. We ordered the Popcorn Situation, and I now understand why people talk about it. The combination of sweetness, saltiness, creaminess, and crunch somehow works perfectly. That cake, the cheese component, the salty notes - everything came together in a way that sounds unusual on paper but tastes absolutely incredible. Overall, Girl & the Goat lives up to its hype. I'll 100% be back

As a group of 3, we ordered both vegan and non vegan dishes. For the chickpea fritters, they were able to make a half portion vegan and the other half as is. My friends ordered the chicken skewers and goat empanadas and loved them! I got the maitake mushroom dish. The mushrooms were very flavorful and paired well with the wrap and fresh strawberry cucumber salad. My favorite part was the vegan dessert "vacation, please!" - pineapple cake with passion fruit sorbet
