A coworker and I stopped in while passing by and found the place to be pretty quiet pre-lunch rush but clean and peaceful. Being able to immediately place our order from the easy-to-see-and-read menu was a big plus. Speaking of the menu, it has all the standard Mexican options but their drink selection leaves a bit to be desired. We didn't have to wait long because our food was ready quick! I'd say in just a few minutes after ordering. And since we ate-in our food was peak fresh and tasted wonderful! Least I forget the option sizes - my burrito was huge! Solid lunch option! Came here with a co-worker after checking out my company's office location. Remote working has its benefits, but having the office around a lot of lunch options is also a plus. I actually tried the lunch special (chicken enchiladas). Good portion size and super tasty. The rest of the lunch was great... all the tables were taken which tells me that this is a reliable place. The staff was super friendly! You walk up and give your order and then work your way down the line as it's being prepared. A lot of to-go orders but if you get you eat-in they give you a bottle of sauce to use for your chips (perk). We stopped at Asada for lunch after a trip to Shedd Aquarium. I'd been wanting to go to Asada since I found out about it being halal, but never got a chance previously. The signage isn't great, so you might drive by without noticing it because the letters don't stick out. The interior is pretty spacious, but no washrooms. We ordered a steak burrito and a chicken bowl. Pricing was very reasonable for the quantity of food we got. They also included two small bags of freshly made tortilla chips, which were nice and crispy. They included napkins and forks on the tray, but we had to ask separately for a plastic knife. They also included a green salsa and a hot red salsa on the tray. My wife enjoyed the steak burrito overall, but commented that there was no avocado in it, which she would have liked. The chicken bowl was okay. Nice selection of items like sour cream, rice, shredded cheese, and fajita veggies. The chicken was just okay, though. The dish wasn't bad, but certainly didn't blow me away. But for what it is -- a place for workers in the financial district to grab a quick bite -- it's fine. Fairly priced food with average taste. It's not a fine cuisine type of Mexican restaurant. You could get higher quality food at La Charanga in the suburbs, but it also costs more. This review is long overdue - sorry Asada! A couple things that I noticed having moved to the Loop in 2017: 1. Good Mexican was hard to come by in the downtown area, and 2. Breakfast burritos weren't really a thing in Chicago. Asada was the life-saving solve for both (okay, a bit dramatic, but good Mexican food is important to a native Californian!). Two menu items were my mainstays: the breakfast burrito and salad (yes, a salad). Inside the breakfast burritos are the perfect, melty, meaty mixture of steak or chicken (both options are amazing), eggs, potatoes (french fries), and cheese. For the cherry on top, they then toast the burrito on the grill. Portions are huge - you can probably split in half for the average eater, and it costs ~$6. Salads never feel worth it for me, especially when I get hungry two hours later. But not Asada's. The salad also comes with plenty of protein (try the spicy shrimp as well), is loaded with toppings including avocado (not extra!), and is accompanied by a delicious / unique chipotle ranch dressing. Even the salad can serve as two meals. Free chips are included with each meal and come with amazing red and green salsas. Everything I've tried here is delicious - heck, sometimes I would just get a side of rice and refried beans to satisfy my Mexican fix. One of the best hidden gems in the Loop - next time that Chipotle line is too long, give Asada a try! read more

Wow! I read someone else's review and saw that they had breakfast burritos for right around $5. You really can't beat that price in the loop. When i went inside at 8 am the first thing I noticed was that the three employees were cleaning. A quick glance around and you could tell that this place was immaculately clean. I ordered the steak breakfast burrito which comes with potatoes, egg, cheese, your choice of meat and pico. I loved how it wasn't stuffed full of potatoes and the burrito wasn't soggy from the pico. The small pieces of steak were tender and the burrito was the perfect size and filling for breakfast. And looking at their lunch menu, it seems like their burritos and bowls run about $7.50. Delicious! I've been mostly bringing my lunch all winter and during our bipolar spring, so it has really been a treat to start getting out for lunch again. One of my vegetarian friends recommended this place and now he has all of our friends stopping here for lunch. I believe I had the Asada Bowl, half steak/half chicken. It had so much FLAVOR!!!! However, the tacos were nothing to write home about and were borderline cold even though I ate this right away after walking 1.5 blocks. I ordered the tacos through the Ritual app and requested to add tomatoes to my order, but the restaurant either ignored or overlooked that part because there were no tomatoes on my tacos. My situation might be a one-off case, but who knows what's going on inside the kitchen if I got food poisoning. Veggie Vallarta Tacos has roasted corn, peppers, tomato, rice, onion, cheese and cilantro. Gluten free and vegetarian. Spicy Fish Platter has marinated tilapia, rice, refried beans, salad with avocado and lime. Since I am vegetarian and I love veggies Veggie Vallarta Tacos is one of my favorite. $5.03 for breakfast after tax...in the loop. In fact, you can order burrito bowls, burritos, and chilaquiles in the morning with chips and salsa for the same price! As you can see in the photo, the serving looks small, but the eggs and protein fill you quickly. I think it's smart to throw French fries in there instead of home fries or hash browns. My first bite into my CHEESE quesadilla was a disappointment... shredded chicken. At least I am not a vegetarian, otherwise that could have been very bad! I ate it nonetheless... mostly because it was too cold to walk back. Now I don't know if I paid for the chicken or of the kitchen messed up the order but either way, it's annoying. My fiance's burrito was small in size and in taste. There was coleslaw in it? Wierd. I am all for small businesses and was super pumped about Asada, but this is a total let down. The other day when ordering a veggie burrito, I saw this nice little nacho side with the daily special... and I asked if I could get the little nacho thing on the side. Without charging me extra, the guys gave me chips and a small tub of cheese and even jalepenos. Great gesture. Small things like that can make a difference. The veggie burrito itself is good. The second time I went, I asked for them to go easy on the grilled veggies, and it seems they didn't do that. Maybe their register system is very simple and doesn't allow for customized orders? FOOD: 3 stars I got the ASADA STEAK BURRITO with guacamole and it was so-so. The meat was tiny bits of beef. More like ground beef than steak. I mostly just tasted salt. I didn't taste any lime, cilantro, anything resembling Mexican spices. The rice had peas in it, which was kind of weird to me. I appreciated that the guacamole was only 75 cents extra, but I felt the price matched the quality of the guac. It definitely didn't taste fresh; it tasted pre-packaged and store bought. The burrito came with CHIPS, which seemed odd to me. What was I supposed to eat the chips with? Was it a ploy to get people to buy for pico de gallo or guacamole as a side order? I've been looking for Good tacos in the loop. Now while these aren't the best tacos I have ever had, they are the best Ive had in the loop. 3 tacos for 7.50, add 1.50 to add beans and rice. For it been in the loop, thats a good deal. I had just the barbacoa tacos and they were delicious, the meat was cooked just right and the portions were good.
