So good. I was so happy to go here with friend after church. Such kind aunties working and attentive to you. So much warmth and friendly environment. The food is always so good and reminds me of mom's cooking. great place to share with close friends and family.

Im so glad i came here with my mom , We got 2 steak burritos and they came out so fresh and large. The burrito was juicy and packed with flavor. They had complimentary pickled vegetables on every table and came with our take out order. Everything is very good and I would definitely recommend if you're looking for quality and authentic Mexican food. Inside It's very clean, with fast and friendly service . Additionally, they decorated for the season and it's very family friendly!

Ambiance - authentic, family owned taco spot in the Pilsen neighborhood, offers lots of space for dine in customers Service - staff was nice & food came out quickly Food - guac & chips were fresh, salsa had a really good kick to it, quesabirria was amazing (shell was slightly crunchy, meat was tender, consomé was rich in flavor)

Late Review This review is probably some odd 20 years late. I've been going to Los Comales since I was a shorty! The only downside to this place is the price going up, but inflation is inflation. Even on the off days, still better than the tacos you gon get on the north side

No frills tacos and more spot. Ordered 2 beef tacos and 1 Al pastor burrito. The Al pastor was solid but not the best I've had in the city. They have pickled vegetables on the tables that were pretty tasty.

Tasty food just incredibly small tacos for $5 each, 1-2 bites a piece. Also received the wrong dip as well. Unlikely to order from here again.

This's our go to whenever we want tacos or something quick!! Food quality here is always consistent, and service is always good!! We never had any issues with our order everytime we come. The servers will bring you menu and take your order, and they are very efficient! price is very reasonable!! There are plenty of street parking! Highly recommend if you want a quick and affordable meal! This's a Chain and they have multiple locations, but this's by far our favorite one!

Taqueria los Comales is considered to be the first taqueria in Chicago; they have several locations throughout the Chicagoland area, and they're known for their tacos. I had heard that they serve up a great chimichanga - note that each location has a slightly different menu, and it seems as if this location in Pilsen may be the only one that offers it? I decided to dine-in, as no one wants a soggy chimichanga. My server was nice and efficient, but it seems as if the waitstaff tag-teams, so you'll have different individuals bringing out your drinks, the meal, etc. I ordered the Chimichanga Dinner - protein choices include steak, chicken, pork & onions, flank steak, steamed beef, tripe, Mexican sausage (aka, chorizo), and dried beef; I opted for the steak (carne asada). The chimichanga is filled with refried beans and cheese, and comes with a side of lettuce, tomatoes, and slices of avocado, with also refried beans topped with cheese and rice. I did request my chimichanga to be extra crispy, which they delivered. The fillings were okay - I thought the steak bits could have been more flavorful and more juicy, and the chimichanga could have been a bit more greasier? I felt it was a little dry. The side of refried beans, which I usually enjoy, along with the rice were both more on the colder end; if they came out piping hot, it would been better. The shredded lettuce were wilted and didn't seem as fresh; avocado slices were generous and well-ripened. There are bottles of salsa on the table, along with hot sauce; it had a nice kick and was a good complement to the chimichanga. I also tried their horchata, which comes in 2 sizes; this was more on the sweeter end. A small cup of sliced limes were served; maybe better for those who are eating tacos; I did notice, however, these were a bit dried out. In terms of paying, you just walk up to the cashier and let them know your table number; there is a charge for those who are using card, so bring cash! The restaurant was actually more spacious than I thought; there were several parties dining in, but there was a constant flow of those doing carry-out orders. Regardless, getting here was pretty simple, as it's near the UIC/medical center area. They do have a designated parking lot behind the restaurant, but you'll have to get onto 17th Street to access it; then, you'll just have to walk through the alley to get to the entrance of the taqueria. My search for a great chimichanga continues! +dried-out sides +friendly service +designated lot in the back

This place has amazing authentic food at a quality price. It's rowdy, it's divey, it's grounded. The restaurant lets the food speak for itself, and doesn't try to use flashy aesthetics or a fancy atmosphere to distract from the quality. Great service, warm atmosphere, and amazing food. They have a huge variety of menu items, from burritos to tacos to flautas to huaraches. The portions are great, the prices are great, the atmosphere is friendly, it's truly a slice of Pilsen heaven.

I can't recommend this place enough... I've gone to several Los Comales restaurants and this one was just as good. I moved to the neighborhood a few weeks ago and this was our very first option of food to eat at. The portion were good and the staff was friendly. They also had specials going on which is cool and made me think about trying something new. We ordered a Heart Shaped Torta (Valentine's Day) and a Carne Asada Taco Dinner and it did not disappoint. I could literally go here everyday and order the same thing & be very happy. Also, added a Horchata to the mix and it was heaven. It total we paid about $35 without tip. The vibes were good and we are definitely going to be back for more. Thank you Los Comales! Personal Review: 8.6/10

We got the quesabirria tacos, a large horchata and the taco dinner with chicken. Chicken was a little dry but honestly I should have just chosen steak for my tacos. Quesabirria tacos were soo good. Loved the pickled vegetables that were at every table. Horchata came in a massive styrofoam cup which is how you know the food is about to be fire #SorryMotherEarth. Very spacious place and comfortable seating. Service was quick. I want to go back

I was in Chicago for a long layover and on a whim decided to catch up with a friend in town for a few hours. We ended up at Taqueria Los Comales for some delicious tacos and a refreshing jamaica. The place was bustling with Spanish-speaking patrons. We placed the order at the counter and got our delicious tacos in no time. Nothing fancy just delicious flavors. Meat is well cooked with fresh cilantro and onion toppings. Perfect place for a quick late night catch up.

We stood at the door for about 20 minutes before someone finally told us the wait would be 1-2 hours. Keep in mind, the place is pretty small and already crowded, so there's barely any room to stand while you wait. After getting on the waitlist, we decided to go to a nearby spot for food--but not even 5 minutes later, we got called back saying our table was ready. When we returned, we were seated along the wall in a very tight space--so tight that if I stretched my arm out, I would've hit the person next to me. We noticed a large table nearby had been sitting for a while without food. When their food finally came out, it made us realize our wait would probably be even longer. After another 20 minutes passed and we still hadn't been able to order, we decided to leave. I'm not sure the space is fully ready for the rush right now--it feels overcrowded and service is slow. I'll give it another try once the hype dies down. I'm happy for their success, though--just be prepared to be patient when you go.

Starting with margaritas (because obviously ‍), queso and chips that were dangerously good, and the chicken empanadas that came out perfectly crispy with so much flavor. I genuinely cannot stop thinking about it. So savory, flavorful, comforting, and packed with crispy carnitas on top with the eggs and pickled onions... literally unreal. And then the skirt steak tacos absolutely stole the show. The steak was cooked perfectly, packed with flavor, and paired so perfectly with all the toppings and sauces. Every single bite tasted fresh and homemade in the best way possible. And can we talk about the ambience for a second because WOW. The music, the energy, the vibe inside, everyone celebrating, the drinks flowing -- it felt like the perfect Cinco de Mayo dinner spot. The service was also AMAZING from start to finish and made the entire experience even better. Entrees were steak and shrimp for me, and Tampiquena for my friend. In both dishes, the steak was done to perfection. The sauce that came with my shrimp was spicy and deep--lots of flavor layers there. Both of us took home portions of our meals because there was a lot of food on the plates.
