"A fan favorite" In many ways, Paul and Jack's Bakery stands head and shoulders above their competitors. This is especially true, when comparing ambiance, selection, and presentation. Service was professional. Most, if not all, seats were taken and there were a steady stream of patrons. We opted for the Basque cheesecake, strawberry and cream bomboloni, and pain au chocolate. I'm not a dessert aficionado - far from it. I typically skip desserts and the extra calories. From my perspective, the donut was light and airy. Cream filling good and abundant. Basque cheesecake also very good and perhaps my favorite. I'm not sure if salt is sprinkled on top crust, but it gave a really good contrast and was delicious. The pain au chocolate was our least favorite. We didn't find the croissant to have that light airy crisp. While good, it was denser than our preference. Overall a very good experience (nothing too sweet), similarly priced to a supermarket offering with much better quality. A full case with a fresh selection - which may or may not be the case at other bakeries. European Bakery: 4.4

Round 2: Great service and enjoyed everything. They offer coffee in a mug if you dine in - Bonus Star! Strawberry Rhubarb Pastelitos and Cinnamon roll with cream cheese (previous review) are my top choices. - Crème Brûlée Bombolini: If you have a sweet tooth, this will do the trick. We split it, and I still had too much pudding center. - Cheese Croissant: this is a savory cheese, not sweet. Unexpected by the orderer, but still enjoyed. - Guava Pastelitos: flaky and delicious with a fresh fruit and cheese mix inside. - Cinnamon Pistachio Latte: cinnamon flavor is stronger than the pistachio. Enjoyed, but will go back to the honey maple on my next visit.

This brand, new café and bakery tucked away right off of 64 near Costco is truly a hidden gem. They have an assortment of pastries, cakes, and baked goods. Also a wonderful assortment of coffee flavors. Our favorite things here are the Napoleon cake and croissants. The kachapuri with egg is also delicious. The pavlova was light and sweet. Honestly everything here is delicious and the staff is extremely helpful and nice. We come here a couple times a month and enjoy it every time!

Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. I CANNOT BELIEVE I'VE WAITED THIS LONG TO TRY THIS PLACE. I've been a long time follower of their Instagram page and was always meaning to go to their other locations, but could never make it happen. The moment they opened in Cary, I dragged a friend out there with me and now I'm wondering why I deprived myself for so long. The pastry case alone should win awards. Every single item looks like it belongs in a Parisian window display. We tried the mille feuille, the raspberry pistachio croissant, and grabbed a lemon blueberry bomboloni to go. I am not exaggerating when I say we closed our eyes after almost every bite. Not on purpose. It just... happened. The flavors are layered, balanced, and somehow both delicate and bold at the same time. Some of the most creative and tasty flavor combinations I've seen at a bakery. The space itself is warm and cozy, full of chatter and that specific kind of happy buzz you only get when everyone in the room knows they made a good decision. Comfortable seating, beautiful bakes on display, and a staff that genuinely feels happy you're there. It's rare that I recommend a bakery to everyone I know, but this is one of those places. If you've been eyeing it like I was, stop waiting. Go. Immediately.

Yummy goodness: from bottom left to right, we ordered the Raspberry Cheesecake and the Baklava Cheesecake.

Cute small yet well light and organized family owned bakery with Friendly and helpful customer service, and amazing sweet treats. Even though we placed our order Togo, they warmed up our apple pastries which were delicious. 10/10 with everything we tried.

Everything looks great in that case.

I didn't realize that they opened a location in Apex but the main one in Raleigh is . This one doesn't disappoint, just to a smaller scale but same great flavors and service. I had to get one of their donuts with cream inside, topped with chocolate. This is amazing just enough sweetness and decadent. This place is 5 all day, every day.

Bottom line: Paul and Jack is a delicious bakery stop in Cary, the cheese croissant and carrot cake were standouts on my most recent visit. Nice staff, large selection, and a nice, clean, well maintained cafe inside make this place one that's staying on my radar for future visits. The Deets: I noticed on Yelp this relatively new location of Paul and Jack Bakery & Cafe on Lake Pine Drive in Cary and made a couple of visits to see what it's all about. My first visit was on a Friday evening after dinner at Cape Fear Seafood Co. next door. This time was a very crowded time, it felt bordering on chaotic as they were slammed with customers which told me they have become popular here. Inside and outside seating both were at capacity. I really didn't have time to check out the cafe itself very long but did take a slice of Oreo cheesecake as well as a butter croissant home. The Oreo cheesecake tasted wonderful, I enjoyed this dessert. The butter croissant tasted pretty good but didn't have that really crispy flaky finish on the outside on this specific one I enjoyed later. I decided to make a visit early morning as well before reviewing and I am glad I did. The cafe was much less crowded upon entry (but that did not last for long, I got there at the perfect time). The cafe is bright, clean, well maintained. The overhead music has such great stuff as ABBA, Fleetwood Mac, Blondie, etc. The display cases are freshly filled with the day's selections. I went with an amazing looking slice of carrot cake and a cheese croissant on this visit. The carrot cake slice was generous and tasted A-MAZ-ING on trying it there at the cafe. The cheese croissant was equally wonderful, this time there was that characteristic very crispy flaky outside and light as well as delicious within it when I tried it. I took the remainder home to enjoy later. Service was very helpful and pleasant here. I'm going with 4.5 stars here but with the positive service and the amazing carrot cake on the most recent visit, I can dial it up to 5 stars. I like this bakery and will continue to visit when the opportunity presents itself.

Stopped in on a rainy Saturday morning and the place was bustling! The servers were all so kind and helpful in explaining all of the different pastries. As the small cafe was busy and all the tables were taken, we took our pastries to-go and drove to a nearby park. We got strawberry vanilla and chocolate ganache filled croissants, which were stuffed to the brim with custard/jam! Almost to the point where it took the focus away from the pastry itself a little bit. We also ordered one spinach croissant, which tasted overwhelmingly like black pepper and not enough like spinach cream unfortunately.

I cannot recommend this bakery enough! The moment you walk in, you're greeted and welcomed by everyone. The decor creates a cozy atmosphere, and there's plenty of seating. We ordered the plain croissant and the strawberry vanilla bomboloni. The croissant was probably the best croissant I've ever had -- flaky on the outside, buttery, rich, and pillowy on the inside. The bomboloni was equally impressive. The custard and jam were both light and not too sweet. I will definitely be coming back to try their coffee and other pastries.

Visited Paul and Jack's on a Thursday afternoon. The bakery windows were still full as far as I could tell. They had a bunch of different types of bombolinis, brookies, cakes, and other various desserts. Lots of options for coffee and other drinks as well. A few tables inside and outside to sit at. The place looked a bit on the newer side as everything was pretty clean inside. Service was good as I was greeted once I walked in and there were two others working at the front. It wasn't busy at all. I ordered four bombolinis. I got the Creme Brule, Boston Creme, Chocolate Ganache, and the Raspberry Pistachio. The Creme Brule and Boston Creme were standouts and I didn't care that much for the other two. You can tell the overall quality of the bread is very good. Would like to try a few other items the next time I come back. They are on the more pricey side but the quality of the items seems to justify it.

Newly opened and was so excited they were here! I love an amaretto latte and can get one here. The store was very clean and inviting. There were a few others in there as well but once walked away from the pastry case toward the line someone asked me how they could help immediately, so more than one person manning the store. I got my coffee, a frosted cinnamon roll that was very delicious! Not too sweet and not dry at all! I also grabbed a chocolate almond croissant and cannoli. I didn't try the cannoli but my son said it was delish as was the croissant. So happy to have them here in Cary now where it's much closer to go to!

So how I didn't know this was here is crazy. I was driving to the park and saw "bakery and cafe" and said "let me try that"! Well bay. bee.! This is so good. I mean really good. And the drinks are good as well. I had a crème brûlée filled donut (bombolini) and a cappuccino. So yummy. Definitely a new spot!!!

Here is the revised Yelp review with the correct name:…read more My wife and I recently stopped by Once in a Blue Moon Bakery and Café in downtown North Carolina, and we left already planning our next visit. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted promptly and served with genuine kindness. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed. It feels like the kind of place where you can slow down, sit across from someone you love, and actually enjoy your coffee. We ordered an espresso, a latte, a chocolate croissant, and a lemon pastry. Everything was fresh. The croissant had crisp, flaky layers on the outside and a soft, buttery texture inside. The lemon pastry was bright and balanced, not overly sweet. The espresso was strong and smooth. The latte was well crafted and comforting. Service was quick without feeling rushed. The space was clean. The overall experience was simple and well done. If you are in downtown and want good coffee, fresh pastries, and attentive service, Once in a Blue Moon Bakery and Café is worth your visit. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will return. On the positive side, the flavors themselves were solid overall. The icing was tasty, and while the cake was decent, it leaned a bit dry, which was already giving us pause given this was meant to showcase their best work. What really ended the conversation for us was a major quality issue. Two of the icing sample balls each had a very long hair in them. It was immediately noticeable and extremely off-putting. At that point, we lost confidence and couldn't bring ourselves to continue sampling, let alone consider trusting them with something as important as a wedding cake. Between the dryness of the cake and the hair issue, we ultimately decided to go in a different direction. Not terrible flavor-wise, but the experience as a whole was disappointing and fell short for such a high-stakes purchase.

Seating is genuinely plentiful: a full dining room of marble-top tables inside plus a large fenced patio out front shaded by trees and umbrellas. Easy to grab a spot whether you're solo with a laptop or meeting a group. The pastry case is where the variety really shows off. Beyond the expected croissants, almond pastries, and fruit danishes, there's a deep savory lineup -- the Pastry Frank, Hot Dog Roll, Bourdin Garlic Cheese Quiche, and a Pepperoni Pizzetta among them. The standout (and most photogenic) was the hot dog roll: a whole frankfurter wrapped in glossy bread, crowned with crispy panko, ketchup-mustard drizzle, and a sprinkle of parsley. Equal parts strange and delicious. Plenty of room, plenty to choose from, and consistently solid quality. A reliable spot for a coffee, a pastry, or a savory bite.

I was…read moreso excited to learn we had a Paris Baguette in the area after visiting the VA Beach location about 3 weeks ago. I was headed out to my cousins house not far from there and thought I would scoop up a few things for us to snack on. I knew I wanted the fruit tarts and they are pure perfection in my opinion-I bought 4 in total-I ate one the second I got into the car and the rest were had later in the day. I also wanted to try some of their savory options as when I was there a few weeks ago, they were sold out of the ham and cheese croissant and was really excited to give it a try, and wow it was worth the wait! I also got a pepperoni pizza and some sort of pastry with a hot dog in it. We cut each of the savory options into third so we could sample each item. Everything about the ham and cheese croissant was pure perfection and was the favorite of all three of us! I hate that I didn't take any photos of the building-the outside was nothing special but pastries were beautifully displayed and they had so many options to choose from! The rest room wasn't super tidy, but it was bad either-it was a very busy Sunday afternoon! Now to breakdown the customer service piece that prevented me from giving y'all a perfect score, please do better! I was not greeted when it was my turn, in fact there were two people at registers and after both finished they both walked away without saying anything. So, I stood there and waited and at this point no one was behind me. I don't recall the name of the young man that checked me out. I said hello and asked how do I sign up for their rewards program? I'm not sure he understood my question. I asked again and he told me that I had to sign up for it. There seemed to be a disconnect so I just asked if I could sign up for it later and get credit for the large purchase I was making and all he said was he would give me a receipt. He rang up my pastries and I then asked if he could package the sweet and savory items separately and he seemed annoyed. I also ordered myself an iced chai and he seemed bothered that I wanted a drink. At this point there was a really long line of people and he was not efficient in our encounter at all. I truly believe customers service makes or breaks and experience and sadly, this guy missed the mark after I spent $40+! I'm hoping he was just having an off day.

The Apfel (apple) turnover was delicious, as was the Heidelbeerkuchen (blueberry cake) and Zitronenschnitten (lemon bar). I decided to visit their actual store in Cary. Even though it's an hour away from home, I stopped by one day when I had to go to Raleigh for an appointment. An Annelore's employee helped me with selecting about six cake slices and 2-3 different bars, plus some German cookies. I'm not sure if I would come back here. I'm sure if I came on a non busy day and not peak time it…read morewould have been a better experience. It was very crowded there's not a lot of seating inside, they do have outside sitting. I did like how the inside looked and they had their pastries out front. I couldn't tell what to order and spent a few minutes trying to figure the menu out without getting overstimulated by the time I could even think about asking questions they had a really big line. I ended up ordering a medium cappuccino which I know see from other reviews that my disappointment was not just me. we did get a waffle croissant thing which was not bad. It tasted stale. So it was a bit tougher and chewier or I'm not sure if that's how it was supposed to be ? I'm sure if it was fresh it would have been better. My daughter ended up getting a fruit smoothie and a hello kitty looking Madeline that was banana flavored she really liked that. There are no prices on the things that aren't at their coffee station area. I did ask the guy up front that it was my first time here and I wasn't sure what to get, he just stared at me. Didn't say anything. And then corrected me when I asked for the waffle thing. Soo.. there's that. So I guess come here if you know what you want. Or come during non less busy hours. We only came by because it was across the street from our therapy appointment. But left more disappointed.. and I spent $22 with tip. Not even sure what I paid for or the prices it all happened so fast. So go here don't go here. We will probably try another place.

I went savory: a chicken salad croissant (flaky, generously filled, with a side of bow-tie pasta salad and a creamy poppyseed slaw) and a pressed caprese-style panini with tomato, mozzarella, and basil grilled to a deep golden crisp. Both solid, satisfying lunches. On the drinks, the cold brew made with Joe Van Gogh beans was great--smooth and well-balanced. The iced café au lait was acceptable, nothing memorable but it did the job. The bakery case alone is worth a stop: cannoli, cranberry almond muffins, strawberry streusel coffee cake, cinnamon rolls, brownies, and a rack of croissants. Friendly counter service and a comfortable spot whether you're grabbing a quick bite or lingering with a coffee. Worth a return visit. Prices are very reasonable.

Chanticleer is a hidden gem in Cary! I don't know why it's taken me so long to discover it…read more The staff are all super friendly and welcoming. They helped me navigate my coffee order and executed it to perfection. They also answered all of my gluten free questions and took extra precautions for my allergy. The egg white and cheese sandwich with turkey bacon was great. Pro tip: Order it with a double portion of egg white for added protein. I also got an iced cafe latte with caramel. You can get a punch card for every coffee and get one free on your tenth purchase. They have a great pastry selection. I got an almond croissant to go for my mom on a recommendation from a friend that said it's a can't miss! (I can't try it due to my allergy but it looks amazing) The ambiance has a cute cafe with plenty of seating.

"VERY hole-in-the-wall Middle Eastern patisserie"…read more This gives hole-in-the-wall new meaning. The location is in a strip-mall that's set back a ways from 55, so it's not really visible from the street at all. However, it's weirder than that-- you have to drive AROUND the strip mall to the back, past the various loading docks for other stores, and they you see this place is open just from the BACK of the strip mall. I heard the owner is Algerian, but there are many Palestinian references and flags around the shop, so if that's triggering, then know this in advance before coming in. Still, the place is brightly lit and airy, with tables to eat. They do custom cakes, cupcakes, and other desserts, but we just wanted to sample some sweets. Hours are funny-- just midday Friday through Sunday. We ordered a pecan brownie and a pistachio chocolate dish with kunafa (shredded Middle Eastern pastry), as well as a mocha coffee. The mocha coffee was rich and delicious, as expected. The pistachio chocolate dish with kunafa was to-die-for... SO delicious. Super thick and messy, as you'd hope it would be. And of course the pecan brownie was amazing. I will say the pastries are not "cheap". I got a single tahini chocolate chip cookie to go for a friend, and that was $4.50 for a modest sized cookie. The other dishes above were in the $6 range. But these are unusual custom-made dishes, so it's fair.

I don't speak French, but trying to find this place left me wondering if the name means "receded"…read moreor something like that, because it is hidden away. in the back of a shopping center. Both the atmosphere and the menu are a mix of French and Arabic, so I got a cherry-infused chocolate cake and some sort of cheese and za'atar savory bun, along with a cardamom chai. The chai flavor was interesting, but not altogether strong, while the cake was as delicious as it looked. My cheese pastry was strongly salty, for better or for worse. The price reflects the quality of the food more than the location, let's say, but I was glad I went.
