I walked into the shop to ask about their services, I did not see their sign that says not to enter unless you have an appointment. I was shouted at to get out! I have to agree with Darryl H. on this one... Horrilbe service and work ethic!!!! I also pulled my bronco out of there after 1 1/2 months of it sitting and not being worked on! I have a 95 Bronco and was excited to try this shop out. My Bronco has a miss-fire and I took it to them to find the problem. I asked when he would have time and waited a couple weeks until he had room. After bringing it in I would drive by every couple days and would just see it sitting by the gate not being worked on. I would walk in every week or so and ask what had been done/figured out... I would always get the "we are just waiting on parts" speech. Around week 3 I started to get upset, other trucks were showing up and being worked on but mine wasnt... So I told them "If you guys dont have time I will take it elsewhere". This seemed to work at the time as I finaly could look under the hood and at least "see" work that had been done, but never enough so that when I went by someone was actually working on it... The following week I came down to get my truck out of there... I asked them again "so whats going on with my truck" and the guy says to me "Its done! nobody called you?".... uh no, nobody called me... I asked what the problem had been and I got this BS answer that it had been a combination of the 3things they tried changing. I was told all symtoms were gone etc. So I paid my $900+ and pulled out of the lot, felt the first symptom first time I hit the gas(bogging off the line) made it a block and felt the second symptom(missing at around 3,000RPM) and then within a few blocks it started stalling repeatedly(something it had NEVER done before)... So they actually made my problems WORSE! So I made a u-turn and went back... told them "lets go for a ride so i can show you its not fixed"... Well the truck stalled so many times we couldnt get out of the lot! When I popped the hood the plastic cover to the throttle connectors was just laying on the wheel well waiting to fall on my headers! So I left it... and they of course said they would fix it. Over the next 2 weeks my truck didnt move from its parking spot in the corner. When I asked why, I was told they just needed to get some trucks done and make space.... UHHHHHH, my truck had been there 6 weeks! long before any of the others. Why is mine at the back of the line?!?!?!? + they had BSed me and told me it was fixed and charged me $900 and the truck couldnt even get out of the lot! Isnt that when you hussle and make things right!?!? I finaly said "F it, I think we are done"... they begged and pleaded said they didnt want me to leave upset. As I walked over to my truck I noticed it had been BACKED INTO THE GATE!!!! and my tail gate was dented and scratched!!!! I yelled "you have to be F---ing kidding me!" to Jimmy.... At that point there was nothing he could say and he knew it... They made my problem worse, told me they fixed it, backed it into a fence and charged me $900... and it took them 6 weeks to do it.... worst shop I have ever been to... read more

Very horrible experience, I came there initially because of their bronco experience. At first they seem very welcoming and the owner son David seems very knowledgeable To be completely honest personally they're good people professionally I highly recommend staying away from this shop I left my truck with them to assess why my truck would not run After two weeks they finally informed me that they would actually be working on my truck They did not make it clear or aware how much they were going to put into the truck as far as ours nor notify me how much it would take to charge me per hour After that it cleared working on my truck for seven hours I still came up empty-handed has my truck still does not work They identified the issues being internally in the engine which could be true but the lack of Communication made me question their integrity I had to follow up with David via text message almost every day he will respond within 2 to 3 days I'm glad that I did respond through and communication was all held on text messaging so that this way had valid proof I'm picking up the truck today, because they were charging me an out rages storage fee which they notified me three days ago the best part is that they said that they're going to be charging me over four weeks of storage The reason why the vehicle was in storage for so long was because their lack of information of exactly what needed to be done and communication is so poor to convincing me and supporting the fact that I would need a brand-new engine which would've cost me upwards of $3000-$5000 Then he also suggested to buy a whole new engine because if they break into the engine that's just the start Mechanically he's correct he doesn't know what he's diving into But to run and operate a good shop you should know exactly what you're going to get the customer into a communicate with them completely The way you find a good mechanic is one a mechanic actually treats his clients as patients in the hospital and given for details So basically he was telling me that he's going to charge me three and $5000 to repair what he found but that still doesn't mean that he's completely sure the truck was running it may cost me more so therefore I pulled it but the best part was when he failed to communicate to me on the 19th and tell me exactly how much he would be charging me per day Which was completely unethical and a form of extortion I will plan on communicating this exact same experience for the rest of the bronco community In the end you have to do the right thing the right thing is to protect other owners from being misled by this company And I to with the other negative comments in this thread will be taking him to small claims court read more

CONCLUSION: In the end, I decided to take them to small claims court. I WON the case AND the appeal. And each judge awarded me over $4,000 in damages . If these guys were legit, 2 different judges would not have awarded me a settlement. So, if you ignore everything else I said pay attention to that. These guys are crooks and it took over a year to finally get the money from them after about 100 phone calls. Total NIGHTMARE. read more

I checked out ASC and one of their competitors, and ended up starting at ASC with a small project, to see what the guys were like to work with. Ultimately, I ended up keeping the Bronco at ASC for about 6 months, for a full frame-off restoration. I could not be happier with the work that David and his crew did. The team at ASC are honest, professional, knowledgable, and extremely reasonable. On a number of occasions during the restoration process, I actually felt like David talked me into less expensive alternatives to ideas that I brought to the table. They've been working on my 88' Landcruiser the last few years. I don't have the biggest budget to work on my truck and I'm just slowly having her fixed up. But they're always great at giving me options on what I should repair, or what needs to be repaired. I always check online prices for parts and labor and they're always spot on with their quotes and never try to over price anything. Just passed CA smog check for the first time since I moved out here last week! I first came to them after taking my truck into a Toyota dealer and them telling me I needed $5k worth of work done just to fix my oil leaks. I took my 1972 Bronco into ASC and met with Dave. I had bought it from out of state and had questions the brake quality (power brakes, disc front, drum rear) and the gas gauge was not working, so the seller offered to pay for the repairs. I also asked for the front coil to be lowered (it had a very high offroad lift that I wanted reduced if possible). The shop lot is basically a dump (as others have noted), or actually it is more like a junk yard for old Broncos, which I was ok with as I would not want a fancy showroom for this kind of work. They do have some decent-looking custom builds and a lot of other trucks / potential restorations sitting around. Dave was nice and drove the truck, noting that the brakes were very bad and it was idling high. It was before Christmas and he said he was busy until the new year but could fully diagnose in January. He said that brakes could be $500-$3000 depending on the issue, and he tried to convince me to do a $3000+ hydroboost on top of the brake repairs, saying that just fixing the brakes may not make the "lock up" when needed, and it would be cheaper to do it all at once when he gets in on a rack. As he is one of few vintage Bronco specialists in the area, I trusted his initial feedback and finally took it back to him in January when he said he had time. When I dropped it off in January, I told him to give it a full look over/inspection and note anything he saw wrong. I said just focus on the brake repair now, no hydroboost as this is more of an upgrade, and not really needed at this time. He told me he would have feedback in about 5 days. After a week and no call back, I reached out. He said he was still working on it. After 2 weeks, I sent him and email and received a fairly short reply that he was still diagnosing and would respond when ready. Into the third week, I asked him to just address the brakes and gas gauge. He send me an estimate for over $4200, replacing most every component of the brakes, fixing the gas gauge, and changing the coils. His hourly rate was $130 which seemed reasonable, but included 27.5 hours to replace the brakes (from the lines to the rotors) and 6 hours to switch out the coils. I was shocked by the price and called him to discuss, noting that I would think some labor could be saved as he would already have the truck on a rack so would not need such long times to do the front and back brakes, let alone switch out the coils when doing the brake work. He said it would, so after talking to my seller (who was paying for part of the work), I was left with no choice but to get a second opinion. When I told him that I wanted to get another opinion, and I actually at this point would have brought it back to him if someone else said the same, he said it was $780 for the diagnostic. I was in even more shocked about this price, and he said that he told me it would be cheaper to get the inspection and repairs done at the same time. I noted that I understood that, but 6 hours to inspect - it was not like he gave me a formal diagnostic report or anything, only a verbal noting a few leaks, pressure checks, and oh, that I needed a new carburetor (which was not on the estimate). I offered him $300 for his time, and he said that he was insulted by this, and that his guys do not work for free. He ultimately only charged $500, and I promptly took it into another repair shop in LA referred to by a friend who has a vintage Bronco. I gave this shop a list of the items ASC recommended needed replaced (without any time or price) and asked them to give me a quote. Within 2 days they gave me feedback that there was nothing really wrong with the brakes and I just could use some front pads, and that the choke needed adjusted to help with the idling (no carb replacement needed). I was also told that the springs could not be replaced because there was a bracket welded into place that first needed removed, preferably by an offroad shop (ASC never mentioned this). Total bill - $406 and I would have the truck back in 2 days. I see other bad reviews of ASC here, and not being someone who usually writes reviews, really wish I would have paid attention more. I do see one calling Dave sexist, and as a female, I cannot say that I felt that specifically, but he was just more of a jerk in general and just dishonest. Overall, it was a VERY BAD experience. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND/WARN people to start somewhere else and/or get a second opinion before leaving it with ASC and getting screwed. read more

This is most definitely the best auto repair and rebuild for early broncos hands down. David is an awesome owner and all the mechanics are great. They were very efficient and knowledgeable. He is one of the most honest people I've done business with. I understand these projects can take some time but at ASC they kept me informed and never hesitated to answer any questions. He was very respectful to me and I certainly don't feel like they over charged me at all, in fact they went out of their way to accommodate me on more than one occasion when my bronco was at their shop. Watch out!I have wasted over a year and a half with these guys.David is the problem. And A BIG PROBLEM. He is rude, and aggressive, and above all has a clear issue dealing with women.He will not look me in the eye, he insults me, and uses verbal intimidation to scare me. I only kept going back here because I'd already parted with money here. I spent from January until August of last year in and out of the shop, at one point having to wait for 2 months to hear back about what was going on. I drive a 1964 Ranchero, and have owned many classic cars. This is not my first rodeo. Firstly they said my linkage was broken and claimed to fix it.Two days later the car broke down again and I had to have it towed back. I later had to have the linkage refixed elsewhere,as has been the case with everything David has claimed to fix. My car broke down a third time in 5 weeks after that, so i had to have it re- towed back to ASC. I kept calling to find out what was going on and why it was taking 3 attempts of fixing my car to get a simple issue of linkage fixed. Finally after 2 weeks I hear back and David said my transmission was broken so they would replace it. 5 weeks later and multiple phone calls with no answer, as well as office visits, where I had to take time off work to go in in person, they tell me to pick it up. No apology or kind customer service, complete lack of accountability and a serious attitude problem. After I pick up the car, one day later, after literally driving it out of the shop the day before, the transmission clapped out again. I had to then get the car towed back to ASC as I had already paid for the transmission. It was at this point that I was majorly regretting ever going there to begin with, but already had parted with over $2000 for them to fix my car. My car sat in the mechanics with them for a further two weeks. When I went to pick it up, I open the hood and noticed my air filter was missing. I asked David where it was and was insulted for a further 20 minutes as to why he would steal my air filter, and "what's the big deal it's only $30, who cares if your air filter is missing?" I had never at any point insinuated that someone had stolen the air filter but what it demonstrated to me once again- which is consistent with my entire experience here, is that these guys are sloppy, rude and not accountable. If the most obvious thing under the hood is missing, then what things that I cannot see have also not been put back? The fact that when I calmly ask about where this is, the response is defensiveness and aggressiveness as well as to insult someone- is beyond bizarre. It doesn't matter if the air filter is only $30 - why is it missing from my car when you've just handed me the keys back after I've just spent over $2000 for a new transmission? Hello? At this point I had to have my fiancé come into the shop to negotiate and defend on my behalf. I felt belittled and often frightened by the clear misogyny and aggressiveness David displayed towards me. Luckily my partner speaks fluent Spanish and was able to listen to some of the insulting and degrading things the men were saying to each other about us. My air filter was never found and several weeks later David begrudgingly ordered me a new one which I had to put into my car myself. Fast forward to present day. I have been getting my car fixed elsewhere at the best mechanics in Los Angeles- Pristine Automotive. Throughout the year, my new mechanic Patrick has been carefully documenting the clear sabotage and parts missing from my car, including the shot transmission that ASC put in my car but claimed to be a functioning one. My transmission broke again 2 weeks ago, after the new one was only put in for the second time by ASC, last July. Today, I went into ASC to ask for a refund on my transmission, which on the warranty it clearly stipulates under California law, that they must refund if they haven't been able to provide the part and service purchased after multiple attempts and failures. Once again, I was insulted, and had physical intimidation used against me. I have reported the incident with the Culver City Police Department. Luckily because I am a lawyer, it will be very easy for me to sue ASC, which I began my proceedings for today. I have also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, as well as the Bureau of Automotive Repair. Beyond the $2000 wasted, what is the most tragic element of this is the time I have wasted that I will never get back. The fact that a woman cannot go into a mechanics in 2018 and be treated like an equal, or with respect, and has to bring her partner with her for fear of the male business person she is dealing with is perhaps the saddest thing of all. I fully intend on pursuing this. I am expecting a futile and aggressive response back from David,because thats how he operates. Walk into the office of ASC, a literal dump, or read the other negative reviews of this place and it's clear why ASC is a trash business, independent of it's shoddy and inconsistent mechanical work. Before getting into details just read back to comments left by Darryl H., who TOOK THESE GUYS TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT AND WON, or Ernie M. who documented his REPEATED ATTEMPTS to contact David about the status of his repair without receiving responses for days on end and was treated like dirt for wanting straightforward auto repair work. David's version of "customer service" is to go keyboard Rambo on anyone who expresses a negative opinion of their experience rather than attempt to meaningfully address the root of what caused the customer to be enraged in the first place -- HIS MISTAKES. What's even more pathetic is he somehow expects you to believe his word over that of a judge. My experience with ASC began not as a direct customer but as someone who had to be brought into an already disastrous situation in which my fiance had been battling with these guys for months to get a proper diagnosis and repair on her vehicle. She first went there because her ranchero wasn't shifting, which they diagnosed as an issue with the linkage. After repeated failures, they then roped her into a transmission job that took OVER A MONTH to complete. At her wits end, she asked me to accompany her to ASC because she felt like she was not being treated seriously and felt intimidated by these guys trying to strong arm her. The first few times we went in together, we were civil but firm in our demands that this be treated seriously and that the mistakes be rectified. In every situation, David grew instantly defensive and never once offered any sort of admission that he had erred, or any practical remedy other than asking us to continue tolerating his ineptitude. Within days her transmission failed again. Mind you at this point, David has already messed up once by diagnosing the issue as linkage, when it's now the transmission he's working on. Days would pass and we would call and get no answer or brushed off, until finally we had to go in again and demand the car be returned in working condition. After weeks more of this, we finally came to pick up the car only to find that the air filter (one of those big round Edelbrocks) was missing. His response when asked why our air filter was missing was "why would we steal your air filter, we worked on the transmission." GOOD F--KING QUESTION DAVID, even a high school student in shop class would notice THE MOST OBVIOUS AND VISIBLE COMPONENT WHEN YOU OPEN THE HOOD OF THE CAR WAS MISSING. And rather than apologize, you just grumbled about ordering us a new one, a clear admission of fault. Immediately after its release, the issues STILL persisted, so we took it to one of the most reputable mechanics in LA. He was AGHAST when he saw the original "work" that had been done on the linkage, which had many components missing. Now, less than a year later the transmission is busted again, so we go into ASC to demand a refund for the transmission as it was still under warranty. David instantly reverts to his irritated, dismissive attitude about the issue. When we challenge him about the work he had done, which was immediately vetted by a separate mechanic last year and found to be disastrous, his immediate reaction is disdain rather than taking accountability for the mistakes he is contractually bound to remedy (with the 1 year warranty). I spent a decade of my life working in the service industry and have weathered every form of BS and stupidity there is. I have never felt compelled to raise my voice at anyone in a business setting, but after having MONTHS OF MY LIFE INCONVENIENCED BY THIS TALENTLESS HACK (she had to borrow my car the entire time you were faffing around), things got heated and we BOTH yelled at each other. Sorry you can't handle sucking so bad at your job that after months of torturing sensible people, they deservedly vocalize their frustration. He then has the audacity to ask why I'm even there defending my fiance, which is a testament to how flaccid his character is--harder to bully a woman with a man around right? David, you are the most inept person I have ever encountered in a "professional" setting. The fact that you can tie your shoes in the morning is a miracle of God, and the fact that you are still employed is a testament to his mercy. The only person worse than you is the owner, who was CLIPPING HIS F--king nails while we were asking for a refund AS IS PRINTED ON THE BACK OF THE RECEIPT WITH THE WARRANTY. Your stupidity will now cost you thousands in court. PS my "racist" fiance is dating a Venezuelan (me) and studied law at UCLA (licensed to practice in the UK). I ended up finding one from a private seller but Dave helped me right off the bat by checking it out, suggesting repairs and giving me great info when buying the truck. Every time I come by Dave and his team are helpful and always take care of me and my new Bronco. They are very talented mechanics a that focus primarily on the classic, Broncos, scouts and Blazers.They also do a great job on Jeeps. ASC IS AMAZING!! Let me start by saying I know jack shit about cars, which is what I told David when I offered to pay him to help me shop for an International Scout. David wouldn't take my money and was happy to review C.L. links with me and inspected several trucks I brought by the shop free of charge. After steering me away from a few pretty paint jobs that were pissing oil I found a great deal on a local Scout II!! Over the past 2 years since then I've dealt with ASC Auto on many upgrades and repairs to keep my scout running, new transmission, bed liner, breaks, drivetrain, header gaskets... you name it. I always feel the work is done in a timely and professional manner all at a great deal. I've checked with other shops on the work and ASC always comes in well below cost. My truck is my daily driver and I don't have the garage nor place nor the knowledge to keep my truck running, if wasn't for David at ASC auto I wouldn't be able to afford my truck and instead of riding around in my dream car I'd be stuck some with some shitty $200 lease. I can always call or stop by when something doesn't sound right and if its not taken car of in a few minutes, I'm in and out within a day or so. Part of owing a scout or bronco is having a mechanic you can trust and I'm really lucky to have one. Just over 2 years ago I went to these guys with my 72 Chevy blazer to have a lot of body work done. They said it would take about a month, which turned into more like 4 months. And my truck was painted the wrong color by the end of it. Still green, but a completely different green than the original which i had just asked them to match. Also, they had done a really shoddy job on the paint. After just a couple months my bedliner they had sprayed started coming up in certain places with very little abrasion. I took it back to have them redo the bedliner (free of charge), and I asked them to work on the brakes, because they seemed to be getting soft. The work took a couple weeks, rather than the several days initially promised. They replaced the master cylinder, drums, rotors and pads all around, plus a few brake lines. After a short time the brakes got soft again, much softer than they used to be. I found out today from a different brake shop, that they had put in the wrong master, and my back brakes weren't even working. I gave the shop close to 5 grand in all, and I have only had more headache to show for it. I am unhappy with most all of the work they did.
