Writing a review while I'm still here. Came here because I am visiting Seattle and read good reviews about this place. I was here for a pedicure with a friend. Ivy was the person servicing me. She was extremely rude to the point where it was disrespectful. I asked nicely if she could make my toes as even as possible even tho I chipped the right corner. Every time I spoke up she would ignore me and talk to other employee in Vietnamese dismissing me. Same bad attitude when I asked if she could get rid of the callous on my feet. Then she did the same thing when my French tip was uneven and didn't look at me or even bother to say anything and had someone else finish up the job she couldn't get done herself. The manager did a 30% refund for the bad experience but honestly this type of customer service is just completely unacceptable. A day of excitement just turned into a nightmare at the nail salon. I'm more disappointed than angry. read more

Okay, I gave Ascend a 2nd chance, and I'm sticking with a 4-star rating. Great service and environment (the foot and hand massage with the mani/pedi? Yes!). Good short-term outcome (nails looked good when leaving, had to ask for more attention to smoothing the foot). Disappointing results at the 2-week mark (nail polish chipped, feet feel rough, and it's not even post-pandemic summertime when the feet actually get some wear and tear). I'd come for the convenience, relaxation, and day of needs. But would love suggestions for a place that really gets the feet right! read more

I really wish I could give this business 0 stars; my experience was that bad. I should have known something was amiss when I asked my best friend for a nail salon recommendation on lower Queen Anne. I said "how about that Ascend place"? She hesitated and said "there are better places on Queen Anne; look further". I should have taken her advice. When I entered the salon, I was impressed by the aesthetic. The place is both well designed and laid out. The positive things I can say about Ascend end there. While I was waiting for the manicurist, an older woman came in and spoke with the manager/owner (?). The woman had some problem with the manicure she was given. The "owner/manager" showed zero interest in accommodating woman but rather told the woman she would have to pay for any remedies for the bad manicure. Not long after, the woman who was doing my pedicure appeared. She ushered me to a lounge chair and motioned me to sit down. No introduction, no "how are you", nothing just a hand gesture bidding me to sit. There was no conversation, no pleasantries as she set about her work. Initially the work was fine but then, it turned very painful and rough. She scraped the bottoms, sides and tops of my feet so violently with some sort of loofah that she drew blood. She seemed oblivious to the fact that I was actively bleeding. Finally, I asked her if she could put a Band-Aid on the top of my foot. Without any acknowledgement or apology, she stormed off the get a Band-Aid. But she first had to stop and whisper something to two other Ascend employees who then turned and stared at me. The interactions between the staff seemed more like the 7th grade cafeteria table populated by mean girls than did it a professionally run business. I could not wait for the pedicure to end. At check-out the owner/manager did not ask me how the pedicure was. Maybe she already knew. And, given, I had seen a very unpleasant encounter with her and another dissatisfied customer, I said nothing. Later in the day, my feet were so sore I could not even put shoes on. I went to the urgent care and the nurse said, "what happened to the bottom and side of your feet"? I replied, "I had a pedicure". She asked me where and I told her "Ascend". She shook her head and indicated she did not think the person doing the pedicure was trained. So really the pedicure given by a surly incompetent woman ended costing me $192. There was the original cost of $42 for the pedicure and the $150.00 for the urgent care co-pay. My husband, a lawyer, is urging me to contact the health department and the licensing people because no one should leave a nail salon bleeding. I am thinking about it. In the meantime, take my friend's advice, find another nail salon on lower Queen Anne. That is, of course, assumes you do not want to be bleeding when you leave the nail salon. And, trust me, I plan to tell everyone I know to stay away from Ascend. read more

Excellent experience. I needed to get my nails done while visiting Seattle and they were in very poor shape with two broken and old polish. The nail tech made them look good as new! In fact, better! If you are in the area definitely visit Ascend. Salon was clean, people were friendly, and the pricing was good. read more

First off horrible pedicure ! Why on earth would you leave the shower head in my water soaking with my feet in it !! That was a clear sign to run but I was already in a chair! Was not clean and I did not enjoy my mediorce pedicure !! Waste of time and money ! Wanted to find and have a go to nail salon since we live in area ! Avoid this place at all cost !! Came here for a cat eye gel manicure after getting the same done in china. The difference is like night and day. At ascend, the gel was applied super thick and ended up pooling at the sides of my nail. The end result is lumpy and uneven The "cat eye" effect also looks like poorly done sparkle polish. I had a fairly good experience at this nail salon, my friend on the other hand had a less satisfying experience. Initially when we walked in we looked at the prices and decided we wanted a gel manicure. After getting our nails done we went to pats separately, even after getting the exact same nails, they charged him $20 more. The price was also much higher than their listed gel prices. The good is the salon is in a beautiful area the bad is that as cute as the physical was, my pedicure just was very average. A lackluster leg massage. I needed the soles of my feet cared for. They are incredibly rude when you call them and ask for an appointment. They also don't provide services that are clearly listed on their website. Avoid at all costs. Edit: The business owner messaged me asking me to edit my review. I find this unusual. She also responded to me saying that I swore, but that is patently false. All around good experience, my first time at Ascend. I had a mani pedi (I like having my feet rubbed in case you were interested). Very clean, good sanitation practices based on what I saw. Brightly lit with windows all around. All nails are even and clean. Nice buffing and the hot stone massage was good for my feet. All of the therapists seemed pleasant and chatty when you ask a question. A good break from the routine when you want to treat yourself. I will make it part of my monthly self-care Pro-tip: The chair has a reasonably good massager built in. I didn't see many people taking advantage of it... but it's there why not? I didn't have a great experience at Ascend. It was my first time getting my nails done, so I came in excited and not knowing what to expect. The process was rushed and my nails turned out looking questionable. At one point, the woman doing my pedicure openly mocked me to her coworker because I was excited to have received a hot towel. I think she assumed I wouldn't be able to infer what she was saying, which felt so upsetting and hurtful because I was just trying to either engage in pleasant small talk or remain quiet for them. I tipped 20% because working with customers isn't always easy, but I won't be coming back. Edit: My gel peeled away after a day and a half, despite me being super careful with them. The gel was flexible still, so they kept peeling throughout the trip. It was embarrassing, and I was so disappointed. I got these for a vacation and had to live with chipped nails for the rest of my 9-day trip. $120 dollars. What a massive waste! read more
