Unfortunately, this was the worst experience. They skipped steps my friend (sitting right next to me) was getting, like brushing the tops of toes, and ignored my request to use the electric buffing tool for my dancer feet. I also explained I'm ticklish but harder scrubbing works better, yet the callus work was minimal because she barely touched the tool to my feet, and I had to ask her to do more but it was still so light, it did nothing...I later realized she left pieces of dead skin on the bottom of my feet. To top it off, my nails were left with textured and bumpy because she didn't use the electrical buffing tool but just a manual file, a request I reminded her when she was filing. At the end, when she asked me how I like it, I pointed out the texture on my toes, and she just stared back blankly. Between skipped steps, ignored requests, and lack of care, I'll be sticking to Capitol Hill from now on.

Extremely Disappointed with My First Visit to Ascend Spa As a first-time customer at Ascend Spa, I had high hopes for a relaxing and enjoyable experience. I specifically researched this place especially bc I just moved here from CA. However, my visit turned out to be a series of disappointments, and I left feeling unsatisfied and frustrated. 1. Appointment Timing: My appointment was scheduled for 10 am, but it took three hours to complete my requested services - eyebrow shaping, Shellac manicure, and regular pedicure. This was incredibly inconvenient for me and made me feel like my time was not valued as they only assigned me to one person. 2. Eyebrow Tint: I asked for an eyebrow tint, but the application was sloppy, going beyond my eyebrow lines. This resulted in stains that lasted for a day. It was evident that attention to detail was lacking. 3. Nail Design: I requested flower designs on my nails, and the nail technician initially said she would "try it first" to see if I liked it. Unfortunately, I didn't like the design, but she dried my nails under the light before asking me if I liked them or not. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, she couldn't understand me, so she called for front staff to assist with translation. They refused to remove it, claiming it had already dried and would require drilling to remove. This inflexibility in addressing my concerns was frustrating. 4. French Tip on Toes: During my pedicure, there was no natural or light pink color coat applied before the French tip. It was just clear. This is a basic step that was overlooked, and it left me feeling like the quality of service was subpar. 5. Customer Service: To make matters worse, I was charged for the designs on my nails even though both the technician and the front staff were aware of my dissatisfaction. Their response was dismissive, attributing it to a miscommunication and offering no resolution. In conclusion, my first experience at Ascend Spa was far from enjoyable. The extended appointment time, poor execution of services, and lack of responsiveness to my concerns left me deeply disappointed. I did not feel like a valued customer, and I will not be returning to Ascend Spa in the future. It pains me to write this review because I have been going here for years. I got a gel manicure last Friday. The front desk girls were nice. The initial first half of my appointment was fine. Things shifted towards the second half of my appointment. I accidentally dipped my hands back in water after my nails were filed and buffed. The tech I was working with (Lily) seemed visibly annoyed with me. I felt very awkward for the rest of my appointment. After that happened, she was weirdly pushy and abrupt with my hands while curing the gel nails under the LED light. That wasn't even the worst part. During the gel application, I saw this girl wipe her cleanup brush with extra alcohol directly onto the granite countertop, then use the same brush directly on my skin to clean the excess gel on my hands. I have always seen techs here use a paper towel (or another white towel) for this. I was so grossed out. To top off this experience, the hot towel and hand massage at the end of my appointment was super rushed and not thorough at all. So disappointing. I hope this was a fluke, but sad to say I will probably be going elsewhere. read more

I came in about 3 and a half weeks ago for a gel manicure as a walk-in and the service was really great they were able to take me in accommodate all my needs. The technician i got was very patient with me since i was being very picky with the colors and she was very nice to me and treated me well. These are the nails she did for and even after almost 4 weeks later they're still in tact, no gel has chipped or cracked nor has my actual nails broken off. excuse the blurry pictures :) read more

I always do full set and acrylics so my natural nails was not healthy at all. After tried the paraffin treatment with gel polish on my natural nail at Ascend Nail - I just in love with it so much. They offer gels, extensions, and most importantly, the promise of detailed nail art and intricate designs (as seen from their IG). In my three visits, I had Echo as my nail technician twice. Her attention to detail and steadiness is amazing. I gave her my Inspo photo and she delivered 100%. Some things I noticed: - There's a $10 charge for removal if your nails were done elsewhere - There are no hand washing stations. This is a big no-no for me because it seems like the space/build-out did not accommodate for proper ventilation or plumbing for hand washing. The closest bathroom is through the Karaoke bar from the same owners, which is inconvenient. -Nail tools looked to be shared in between clients. At least in my own experience. On one occasion, I booked an appointment for 5pm on a weekday, but when I arrived, I was told to wait for the client to finish up. I waited 20 minutes before the owner removed my gel, and then I proceed to wait another 20 minutes. I don't need extensions, so my nails are considered "fast" to complete. Complex design + gel + no extension = a little over 2 hours. My most simple nails here took around an hour. Price is also hefty. My experiences have ranged between $45 - $100. They accept card + offer a stamp card. That being said, the most note-worthy mention about Naillist is the type of gel they use. Their selection of Japanese and Chinese gel brands are magical. My gel nails absolutely do not peel or lift or break. They are tough as can be, yet my nail beds feel healthy and nourished. I have gone 5 weeks with each set, and yes the grow-out is not too cute, but boy do they LAST. I love the quality of work, but not a big fan of the sanitary conditions, hence the 4 stars. I will still find my way back there.
