I have been coming here for years. There are not a lot of sushi spots nearby so I am really happy this restaurant has kept its standards consistent, otherwise, it would be hard to find another great spot like this one. They always have a hostess and their service is always quick. Their sushi bar is visible from the dining room. Their bathrooms are always fresh and clean. I always go with my usual which are roti canai, miso soup and eel avocado roll. The roti canai is my favorite thing on their menu. Their menu is so huge that I sometimes like to grab something new. So far, every dish that I've tried has been excellent.
Ordered a number of things and none of them disappointed. The 9 item box every item was very tasty and the one I enjoyed every piece. I'd order that over most omakase menus. They take their time with the box and even noticed it was taking a little longer so offered some crab salad to say sorry for the wait. Bonus points to the establishment for that. Maki rolls weren't amazing but maki rolls still very decent. Sashimi felt fresh and not a bad value. Wagyu uni crisp was good as well. Staff very attentive and saw my gf take a picture and had a staff member had a hand held light since it was a bit dim. Ambiance was comfortable and clean. Overall don't have a real bad thing to say about the establishment and would recommend it.
After having a positive delivery experience, my fam and I tried sitting in this time for dinner one day. We were seated by ceiling lights that kept dimming, but nothing too distracting. The menu was extensive, but hard to know what the dishes comprise of without pictures of each. Our Scorpion King Roll ($16) came first. They had a bunch of intriguingly named special rolls, but something about this must have grabbed my brother's attention. The addition of asparagus was unique, although I enjoyed the creamy crab strips up top the most. Unfortunately, or maybe not so unfortunately, the waiter mistakenly ordered for us the Asea Sashimi Deluxe ($43) instead of the Asea Party Platter ($115) that we wanted. So we were really thinking we got scammed for some pieces of fancily plated fish up until we got the bill. The dish really was beautiful though, with my mom noting the chef's intricacy in his plating behind the counter. There were 4 of each fish, which were each equally unique tasting! But sashimi is never filling, so we added on a Salmon Lover ($17) and Sushi Platter ($19). I highly recommend getting these, since they seem well priced for the offer of sushi/sashimi/rolls. The pieces are smaller and thinner though. The servers were really attentive, friendly, and kind to us throughout our whole dinner. They do automatically charge us a 18% tip, and I'm not sure if it's because we were 4 people or not. Come here if you're searching for good dinner in 8th Ave!
The food was good as it was the last time I had it. I tried the Malaysian coffee for the first time and it was flavorful and not too sweet. The service was good and the food was good as well. I was not a huge fan of the squid, but it had good texture. The pizza was also good, it had avocado and some type of fish/eel. The hibachi lunch box was flavorful, but the egg rolls were not that good. The lychee drink was mid, I would recommend the Malaysian coffee over it. The lunch deals were nice, three rolls were 13 dollars. Overall for all the food it came out to be around 200 dollars which was very fair.
A great sushi spot in sunset park, had a craving for sushi and my family and I have always seen this restaurant in the neighborhood but have never actually been to it in the past. There aren't many sushi places in Sunset park so this was definitely soemthing we needed to try and and it was pretty good. They have more than sushi, they also have fried rice, soup and bentos but we wanted the sushi and they had so many options from combos, rolls, hand rolls, and sashimi. There was a large group inside when we got there and we took it as a good sign and ordered our food. It didn't take long for everything to come out. Everything tasted great, I think the salmon tasted really great and we got nice thick cuts for everything too. If you see the California roll they gave nice big pieces and filled it in well. And the server we had was very nice, everyone working there was nice and welcoming. Overall I think this is gonna be my main spot for sushi in this area.
In general, the fish is fresh and the food comes out fast too. That being said, I tried their uni and sweet shrimp the other day and it tasted pretty bad. I can tell the quality is not good. I would go for any of their special rolls and typical sushi/sashimi like tuna, salmon, yellowtail, etc. Their mackerel was pretty good as well though. I've eaten in person only once as I generally grab take out, so I cannot really comment on the service.
We ordered for take out the avocado roll rice outside, shrimp tempura roll, spicy shrimp cucumber roll chicken tempura roll. Got chicken wings too, very fried crispy and flavorful. I liked how they separated the ginger and wasabi in lil containers instead of in the sushi tray. It was ok, 4/5 for the avocado roll because it had sesame seeds outside which i liked but the avocado could've been bigger in each roll. Shrimp tempura was a 3/5 because there was a lot of batter and not a lot of shrimp taste or meat. Chicken roll was 3/5 too couldn't taste much of the chicken mostly batter. spicy shrimp cucumber roll 3/5, very thin shrimp portion and a whole lotta cucumber sticks, however the cucumbers was very refreshing and crunchy so not complaining.
Visiting Sunset Park, my girlfriend and I stopped into Asea for a bite to eat. We received a table right by the sushi bar and were given menus and glasses of water. I asked to use the Yelp check-in offer for a free bottle of hot sake then began looking over the food options. The menu is expansive indeed, covering a great deal of culinary ground across the pan-Asian spectrum. My eye gravitated toward the lunch specials: 3 rolls and a miso soup for $11 sounded quite attractive. My girlfriend went for a chicken katsu lunch box, a steal at only $9.75(ish). The sushi rolls arrived first, and I could see why they were so cheap; could have used more fish in them. Still, with some soy sauce and wasabi, they turned into a formidable meal. The salmon avocado roll was probably the best of the three. The chicken katsu was also very tasty, and a generous serving indeed. The crunchy panko breading and the tender chicken combined for the ultimate texture experience. Dribble on some sauce and chase the bites with rice. Yum. All told, I found myself impressed and appreciative of the restaurant, the food, and the staff. There's so much on the menu I want to try, I'll inevitably be back soon. If you need another reason to come to Sunset Park, this is it.

I had a great time here, although I didn't see or hear anything about all-you-can-eat sushi which was a bit confusing. Otherwise, food and service was enjoyable, lunch specials were good, and I left very full for a reasonable price. I did not have any issue with too much rice or not enough filling as some people have reported. read more
came here on a week night, place is big and wasn't full to capacity. Since its Asian fusion the menu has broad items ranging from sushi to Thai food. We decided to try a little bit of both. And they were accommodating to my friend's allergy restrictions. The sushi was very mediocre, nothing stands out nor special about the taste of it. We also tryed their Sushi Pizza, which had cream cheese inside the roti shell. It was so filling that one bite fills you up. Got the Beef Pad Thai as the last redemption dish, you can't go wrong with pad thai. The beef was tender and seasoned just right, and the thai flat noodles wasn't too spicy to over power the dish. read more

My bf's mom and I came to have dinner tonight.This place looks fairly new and the deco is very nice. We have ordered bacon with enoki and bacon with scallop as appitzier. We also have Teriyaki steak and Thai basil chicken. All the food taste pretty good, although it is just a tad little sweet (just my opinion). Overall we were very please with the experience, the servers are very friendly. I didnt get a chance to try their seafood and sushi, since my bf's mom is allergic to shellfish. I will definately come back again. I am glad this part of Brooklyn has a place with nice deco to dine. P.s. Toro, the manager gave us a discount after we mentioned about Yelp. This place is great! The service is wonderful, decor is nice and the restroom is fancy. My boyfriend loved this place so much that he said he'd make a yelp just to rate this place! :) Haha, knowing him, I just decided to rate it for him. We had BBQ squid and calamari as appetizers. The squid was delicious and a must have and so is the calamari bowl. We also had some skewers (sausage, bacon roll, and lamb); my favorite were the bacon & lamb. Then our dragon roll came and it was yummy too. Next up was the house special udon dish which was pretty satisfying. We ended with fried ice cream and it was huge! I wish we just ordered one because I almost died finishing mine. Every dish we had were presented to us with so much thought and effort; they all looked pretty. Overall the food and service here is just amazing and I was in a food coma after. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu! :D read more
We were looking forward to the BBQ lamb but unfortunately they were out of lamb........however Each dish we had was delicious; Japanese Pizza (minus eel/added salmon), spicy shrimp roll, shrimp tempura roll, hibachi shrimp,nagamaki roll, sweet potatoe roll, peanut avocado roll, avocado cucumber roll and green tea tempura ice cream...oh yea we redeemed a coupon for a hot bottle of sake....woo hoo!!! This place is an absolute delight! I'm a frequent visitor at a restaurant owned by the same people and they've been urging me to go, and it's safe to say I will be coming back soon. The waiters recommended that we try the fries w wasabi mayo, which was way too good. The Asea roll w coconut shrimp, mango chicken, lemongrass chicken, and pad Thai were finger-licking good. Voila! This restaurant was a surprised find when I searched 'nearby' on my phone. After reading all previous reviews, I was like 'yeah I gotta try this out.' I was happy that there was a new Japanese/Asian fusion restaurant open in my neighborhood. I got in with my boyfriend with some expectation. Their warm ambiance and big space gave me a very good first impression. Waitresses were friendly and attentive. My experience throughout our meal was pleasant and made my day. What else could I ask for? Decent food, fair price, friendly service, lovely distant, and nice space. A decent Asian restaurant with SUSHI and beautiful trendy decors open in 8th Avenue area, this is also what makes it unique and surprises people after all these years. read more

Came here for my first time today, and I without a doubt will be coming back. We ordered the Dragon Roll and Calamari as starters: both were $8 and well worth it, especially the Dragon Roll. For my dinner, I ordered the Hibachi Steak, which came with white rice and plenty of vegetables. The vegetables tasted amazing with the hibachi sauce. My sister ordered the Seafood Udon; I managed to sample it and it was pretty good. For dessert, my sister pressured me to get the Fried Ice Cream, even though I was already filled up from the entree. I was reluctant to order more, but after eating the Fried Ice Cream, I was ready to order another one. Overall, it was a great experience. The wait staff was friendly, the atmosphere was great, and the food was well worth the price. I was expecting around $70, but it totaled to be about $55. read more
This place advertises pretty heavily in the Chinese newspapers/magazines that my parents read, so we decided to stop by on a Saturday night for dinner. Parking in the area was surprisingly hard, and there were cars double parked everywhere. Asea also has "valet" service, which just seemed like more double parking. Weirdest thing was that there were two "valets" out front, and maybe 2 or 3 tables inside with people. Anyway, the good: -the mutton curry (lamb) was really good. Pretty spicy too. -waitresses are attentive and keep your tea refilled. -there are two big TVs, good for sports. -reasonably priced dishes all around. Lots of selection as well. The bad: -the sexy roll had some weird soy paper wrapping, which made it taste really weird. The fish was unremarkable otherwise. -our first waitress told me all draft beers were buy-one-get-one-free, but the one who brought the check said it was only Sapporo. Lame. -there are half booths, with the other half being backless tools, which weren't very comfortable to sit on for an entire meal. If it's convenient for you to go, then it's worth trying. But I wouldn't go out of my way to come back. read more

This restaurant looks very nice and has multiple flat screen TVs and the staffs are nice. I had Sushi Sashimi lunch and a Roti Canai and they were delicious. All the raw fish on the plate tasted sweet and fresh with no malicious aftertaste(like fishy). However, the Roti Canai was kind of weird and didn't taste as good when compared to Vietnamese restaurants. read more
I was really surprised we loved this place. Now my only experience is with delivery but I can tell you food gets delivered piping hot and fresh and super fast. Staying at the Hotel BPM food got delivered in about 15 minutes and it was so good. The Malaysian curry udon soup surprisingly delivers well. The spice level is just right, all ingredients are fresh, and was just overall delicious. I strongly recommend mixing the soup and noodles immediately when it arrives that way you can let it sit for a while and cool down + build flavor. Also it was so filling. The pad thai was good, not the best we've had but good nonetheless. The Shumai appetizer was worth it. read more

The Mango Kani Salad is more of a Mango and cucumber salad that is tasteless. The Philadelphia roll as you can tell is mostly cucumber, has no flavor and just a hint of cream cheese. These two things are my favorite to other from any Japanese place, and this is the first place to disappoint. Would never go there again and wouldn't recommend. read more
I thought this would be a trendy looking Asian Fusion restaurant. But, there is nothing to boast about the décor. I thought they would have really good sushi from the pictures I see on yelp, so I came try it out. We got this thick menu and I have to say they have such an extensive list of dishes to offer. I came for sushi, so we ordered the Love Cruise for two, which comes with 10 pieces of sushi, 16 pieces of sashimi with a california roll and a dragon roll for $50. The presentation was okay. I didn't think it was all that pretty. One of the sashimi was cut weirdly. I never seen it cut like that. It was too thick to eat. I don't know why it wasn't cut like regular sashimi. But the other cuts were fine and they are generous with the cuts. The fish was okay. What really disappointed me was the rice. It didn't taste like sushi rice. It taste like regular rice and it wasn't made right. I like my rice done right as much as decent quality fish. The rice ruined the fish for me. It just didn't taste good together. read more

I came here with some girlfriends on a Sunday night and it was pretty quite. There weren't that many people inside. The waitress I had was really nice and patient and answered any questions we asked. My favorite dish was the sushi pizza, soooo good and interesting. The presentation of the dishes were really nice, my friend ordered the salmon tartar and it came with a dolphin drawn with spicy mayo sauce. The pad Thai was good too, spicier than most places and a generous portion. Overall I have no complaints and I would come back again because the food was good and the service was great. read more

I was only there to grab a bite or two so I ordered two items: the coconut shrimp appetizer and the tom yum goong soup. The coconut shrimp was to die for! They are ginormous! You can taste the coconut flakes if you don't use the sauce. As for the tom yum goong soup it was horrible. It tasted like drinking a bottle of heated hot sauce. So after taking a few sips hoping it would get better I had to push it aside. Without telling the waitress she immediately knew I was not pleased with the soup so she took it off the bill without being asked. Great customer service!!!! read more

Ordered delivery. Hibachi salmon: 3 stars- veggies were too greasy, salmon itself was okay but the thinnest slice I've ever was served and also oily. Edamame: so-so - 2 stars - some of them were not fresh and dark, overcooked. Would give 5 stars to rolls though: salmon avocado roll and white tuna roll were GREAT! Ginger dressing which came with little salad was really yummy too. read more

Friendliest staff and a great environment to hang out with friends. I know this is weird, but I'm a sucker for nice, clean bathrooms and was delighted to see such clean bathroom with working power dryers. Highly recommend the Kani Salad as a starter, it is light and refreshing and keeps you satisfied while waiting for the main course. read more

They have a great variety of Asian fusion mixture and every order comes with it own personality. The place is very clean quiet and cozy. They have a long bar with three flatscreen TVs for you to watch sports. Employee are very helpful and courteous. Sashimi are the best among all the other Japanese restaurants. Each dish has it's own layout. Very colorful, and cozy. You should try their specialties on sashimi and sushi, it can't go wrong. Thai basil and curry sauce are very tasty. You can pick your own, like shrimp, beef chicken veggie to go with the sauce. Skewers are also very stylish. read more

This is a little hidden gem. Getting off at the 9th Ave stop isn't something I want to necessarily do again...but I am happy I came to Asea. My friend and I made a reservation and I got there a little early...about an hour. They seated me and brought some tea over. LOVE the tea. I sat and read my book until my friend arrived. The place wasn't packed by any means, but it was steady. Ambiance was nice. They started decorating around 9PM for the Chinese New Year. Anyway, we both did the "check-in" offer - a free little bottle of sake. It was such a nice start! As an appetizer, I got the Kani salad - very good :) $5. As an entree, I had the spider roll ($9) and one of their regular rolls, spicy crabmeat. I enjoyed everything and service was decent. I won't go out of my way to come back, but if I'm in the area I definitely will! read more
