This place has decent drinks, but horrible, horrible service. A lot of my friends like to come here and study. I used to study here myself but it was too far from South Side and I didn't like the service. I am still trying a lot of the boba places up here and this place reminded me of some of the places in LA. Snazzy decor and cute signs that make it all cool. It's great for students because there is a lot of space. My friends all told me to get the Japanese matcha. I tried it and it's really good but hit or miss. I have had it three or four times. It tasted different every time. Also, they use a different milk from other places. I think it's real milk, but if it's real milk, I thought it was supposed to taste better? They put grapes in their grape oolong, but it doesn't do anything for me. In a way, I feel like I am being deceived. You can sit in the tea service area. I don't ever do that since I like to study or grab and go. It's a nice idea that people can come in for tea and just chat. that's prettty cool. The toasts are good, but they take FOREVER. I got it once and it took over 15-20 mins to make toast. It wasn't even that busy! And when I asked about the wait, I got a snappy answer. They said they told me it would require a wait, but no one told me how long! I also think the owners try too hard. It's like that feeling you get from some people. I think I was served by one of the owners because he asked me about my drink. He's nice, but kinda shifty when I asked him back questions. If he asked me questions, why can't I ask them back any? It's like they are copying places like Purple Kow or Tpumps, but afraid to show it because they are "premium." Fake. Their ratings don't lie. Definitely 4 star drinks. But when I go to boba shops, especially one that tries to look and be different, I expect it to BE different. I just feel like they are fake and copying all the other boba places and dressing it up. But rating is about service. I have been here on 2 occasions where I felt rushed. I was new and they have unique flavors, so I was asking about each one. I have to turn my head to the side wall to figure out what to order. Then the cashier kept on saying, "so do you know what you want?" Um, no! That's why I'm asking you. And I only asked you about two flavors! Stop rushing me! I can see if I'm taking 3 mins to decide, but I literally asked two questions. What teas are your favorite? And what's in blah blah blah tea? I think the owners have something good going, but I again, I just get the feeling that they are fake. Since I live on the South side, I will probably stick to the limited selections there or Purple Kow which also has its own issues. Sorry owners! I do hope you get better over time! read more

I love this place and it's the first place I stop by every time I return to Berkeley. I miss the hot matcha latte so much! As much as I love tapioca pearls (they unfortunately do not pair well with hot drinks), the hot matcha latte is still my go to drink. The way they foam up the milk and whisk the matcha, it's just the perfect balance between the earthiness of the matcha, creaminess from the milk, and a little sweetness to round out the flavors. In general, I love that they let the tea shine in all their drinks. I remember the first time I came here, I asked for 25% sugar because that's what I usually get at other boba shops. No need here, 100% sugar is usually the perfect amount of sweetness for me. If matcha isn't your cup of tea, some other amazing options are the HK Milk tea and if you want some extra caffeine, the HK Coffee Milk Tea is also delicious (it's soo good but unfortunately I go absolutely bonkers with too much caffeine so I don't get this often). When in season, yuzu anything is good-- like the jasmine green tea and the cold matcha latte with yuzu fruit puree. The chai is also phenomenal (I would recommend getting this cold over hot if you're debating between the two). Anywho! this place is amazing :) Of the 30+ times (a conservative estimate--I stopped counting a long time ago) I've frequented here, I've only had like 3 mediocre experiences, so they're pretty consistent too! read more

Open for delivery and takeout during COVID. I really enjoyed my experience with Asha Tea House! Their online ordering system is easy and you are able to set a pick up time. We decided to order right before driving over and we got a notification that it was ready right when we parked! There is street parking available which is not too bad during COVID. I ordered the Matcha Latte with almond milk/boba, half sweet, less ice in the regular size. I loved my drink- you can tell the match was high quality and the half sweet wasn't too sweet at all (I usually do quarter sweet but it's unavailable at this shop). The regular size is equivalent to a small/medium drink at a fast food restaurant. Just enough for me! Excited to come back! read more

I'm not very sure of what their description or opinion of boba milk tea is. I decided to try this place since they have a good amount of good reviews. I got the hong kong style milk tea and the ice green tea latte. I understand that a latte is mostly milk but my green tea latte seemed to be 90% milk and 10% green tea if that...I didnt taste anything but milk which was a letdown. Onto the hong kong style milk tea...I'm am very curious how they named this drink "HK style" to me it just tasted like their regular milk tea and nothing more...Boba was bland and doesnt have the perfect boba consistency to a point where the center wasnt cooked all the way...maybe I'm not trying the right drinks. read more

This place is really chill and adorable at the same time. I love the ambiance and the aesthetic touches at Asha because it's super relaxing. The drinks are about the same price as any bubble tea shop but the quality of the drinks are top-notch. It's a really nice place to study and get work done, but I wish there were more power outlets available. I've had their bubble tea, masala chai latte, and matcha latte in the past and have enjoyed their matcha and bubble tea. The best part is that they're open later than most coffee/tea shops, which is handy for night owls like myself. Looking forward to trying more menu items here soon! read more

My yelp friend Joji checks in here every single day so I figured it had to be amazing! What a grand tea house. Its feels so new and clean which makes for a welcoming place. The serve only tea so coffee enthusiasts beware! Any sort of tea your heart desires wil be found here and you will be very happy. I had a blueberry tea with pearls and it was pure and real with no sugary subsitutes. They don't have any food here and do not allow you to bring any in. Not ideal- with no ability to nibble to keep that brain active- it's hard to stay and get your work done. I will stop by again to grab a tea to go! read more

This place is soo good. I feel so greedy whenever I come here because I just want one of everything. MOARRR!! ALL!! I love their fruit teas. There were were pieces of mashed blueberries in my green tea. It doesn't get more real than that. And their fragrant teas - that's what makes everything so magical. I think about this place an unhealthy amount considering I only visit CA every so often. Please open before 11 AM. I was waiting outside at 10-ish twice. I noticed other people waiting outside before 11AM with me. People need their tea fix before 11! read more

This is definitely by far the best boba place in Berkeley. It uses the real milk, not powder which most boba places use. There's more of tea flavor than artificial sweetness you often find in other boba. My go time favorite is Hong Kong milk tea with coffee. Coffee gives you an additional boost of energy and caffeine rush, while these unlike combination give you just amazing taste bud experiences! When it comes to non-dairy traditional teas, this place is my top choice. I particularly enjoy hojicha and matcha. The seasonal selections like yuzu and asian pear bring a whole new range of options and depth, and you also have the option to order them without any sweeteners. They offer some locally-made pastries, although they tend to sell out fast. Luckily, I managed to grab a black sesame cookie once. Their drinks have been kind of disappointing to me, as I got the matcha americano, when I ordered it, it came out hot when I wanted a cold one. The staff looked a bit reluctant to remake it, but remade it anyways. So I guess my complaint is, they just automatically assumed I wanted a hot one. We tried Lemon Jasmine Green Tea (with grass jelly), Asian Pear Oolong tea (with boba), and Tapioca Milk Tea (with boba). The drinks are of decent quality, nothing too fancy, but a good choice. For us, the Lemon drink was a tad too sour at 50% sugar. Tapioca drink was pretty standard. For the Asian Pear, you can feel the granularity of the ingredient which is pretty unique. If you want wide selection of traditional high quality teas then Asha is the place to go. Asha is not your typical Bubble tea house, but would is the artisan of tea houses. The baristas know their teas very well giving amazing recommendations even if you are not a big tea drinker yourself. Better than I expected. I felt very zen. Idk if matcha is supposed to be enjoyed lukewarm, but it was definitely on the colder side. During my visit I read a book about the founders' tea-tasting trip and then saw him walk in the entrance when I finished! Asha is the best! I simply love the matcha green tea. I get it everytime. Some may complain that it tastes a little earthy, but I love that taste. It feels genuine and they definitely mix in the right amount of sweetness. I've been to so many different boba shops and they always mess it up by putting in a ton of syrup or lots of sugar. This five stars is for the Matcha Latte. First tried it here with oat milk and fast forward 10 months and I'm whisking my own matcha at home w/ 365 oat milk from WholeFoods. Their mochi muffin bites are outstanding! One of the best places for delicious buttery mochi muffin bites in the bay area.
