If these are the seating arrangements, then maybe it would be a good idea to have a QR code or menus at the tables to browse while we wait. We ordered our drinks and when I got my water, it was extremely "tappy" tasting, which I don't really expect from a place that has a bar. I ordered a sweet tea instead, which was perfect (not too sweet). We looked over the menu for a while and I decided on the golden barbeque chicken, while hubby got the chicken and waffles. Food took a really long time to come out (no fault of our waiter, he kept checking with the kitchen). We were here longer than an hour and it wasn't *too* busy. FOOD: -Golden Barbeque Chicken - half chicken with a dry rub and then bbq sauce and comes with corn on the cob and fries. This was really, really good. It was just what I wanted - and I couldn't even finish it! The fries were crisp. The chicken had just enough sauce and was juicy, but the breast was a tad dry...but even the corn on the cob had seasoning! Yum. -Chicken & Waffles - I only tried a bite of the waffle, which was soft & crisp at the same time. A perfect waffle. Hubby ate it all! Haven't tried dessert but they all sounded yummy. Maybe next time! Prices were really fair and "cheap" (not in a bad way, but lots of restaurants have raised their prices a lot and this one hasn't). Ambiance lacked since the lights were basically turned off and the paint was worn away where the chairs scraped it. When we were leaving, we noticed our waiter was the ONLY waiter AND he was managing the bar. I think the wait had to do with staff shortage and I felt bad for him. Note: We have been here once before a year ago (when there were Covid restrictions) where I had chicken tenders (I think) and hubby had the cheesesteak. Both were really good. Not sure why, but I always try and give this place "another chance" to earn my money, and they never fail to disappoint. We were looking for a spot to accommodate 8 for brunch/lunch today. Normally we would hit the Ashburn Pub (because the best bartender in N. Va works there on Sundays) but today it was super crowded because of the soccer match. So we tossed out some alternatives (Blue Ridge Grill and Ashburn Village Inn were immediate options because of location). One in our party said "are you sure about AVI? The last time we went the service was awful because they have two people on at a time." I decided to go see for myself. Walked in and noticed the bartender (counted 8 people at the bar and bar tables), and one server (10 top seated, 5 top leaving, and a few other tables) that was busy, but not in the weeds. After close to 10 mins the bartender saunters over, with an obvious attitude, and asks if she can help me (definitely caught several eye rolls...I have three daughters, I know what they look like). I say that I am checking to see if they can accommodate a party of 8 and she huffed, puffed, acted like I was annoying her simply by asking and she says "well we only have THAT table and you can see people are sitting there...so they would have to leave." I passively point to a few open four tops, which evidently pissed her off even more, because she hit me with more huffing and puffing and then the "I guess I'll ask the server." I completely understand how difficult it is to run a place when it's understaffed. Many a loved one of mine works in the industry...I get it. What is not appreciated is the attitude...making people that are there to spend money in your establishment, feel like they are bothering you by choosing your place! A simple "sir, we are very understaffed today and I'm afraid we might not meet our service expectations" would go a long way. Pretty sure this bartender works at another place in Ashburn, where I've notice a similar attitude, so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised. But I will never attempt to patronize this spot again, and I will spread the word to my tribe as well. read more

Situated in a large strip mall, this place is a hidden gem. I had seen it several times during my drive by to other places. I looked at their menu online, surprised to see the big menu options. On a last minute choice, we did take out for dinner. They steak and cheese sounded tempting with the option of "cheese wiz". The unusual was charging extra for onions and other add-ons. I decided to go with the menu standard. This came with fries. The portion of fries was hefty. The sandwich was ok, nothing outlandish, just a standard steak and cheese. The wiz was runny. It's Friday night and just left ashburn village in with no food after waiting over 90 minutes. Our server was extremely courteous and even offered to comp our entire meal but even then we waited a bit longer for our food it just never came so we just left and went next doors to Chau's cafe because we were so hungry. Extremely disappointed after seeing multiple people get seated after receiving their meals and even leaving with satisfied bellies while we only got water. We have been frequenting this place for many years and love their food when it does come out but this was an unacceptable experience. read more

Came for Sunday brunch. Pluses: food was hot when it arrived. Waitstaff was friendly, though clearly overwhelmed as it was busy. Had the corned beef with potatoes on their brunch menu. It okay, but in my mind I was expecting a hash. If they'd take the time to cut the corned beef smaller it would have been great. It was supposed to come with a side of fresh fruit, which was technically true. I did get 4 small pieces of honeydew and two small pieces of cantaloupe in a cup that was the size of a Costco sample. We really try to frequent local businesses, and my family has gone to AVI a lot over the years, but it's going to be hard to return. The service was horrendous tonight, as one employee was waiting on all tables and tending bar. We saw 3 tables leave while we were there because they couldn't get waited on and other tables complaining. We waited 15 mins to be acknowledged, our food took 40 mins to arrive, the appetizer came out with the food, we had to ask for drinks and the check multiple times. The meals were good, but our appetizer was ruined after presumably sitting for half an hour. The owner needs to hire more help or they will be out of business soon. read more

I have been going to Ashburn Village Inn since they opened. Food is good and drinks well prepared but service has gone downhill. They advertise hours of business, but you can never be sure when they are open in the evening as they tend to close at will. I go to eat during the day but also enjoy a drink in the evening. There have been many recent staff turnovers. Rebecca and Dee do an excellent job, but management recently put two behind the bar (one is the part time server) who seem more interested in being buddies and not equipped to be in charge of evening operations. I hope management can get it together or I'll find a new favored place to eat and drink. read more

I am so sad, but what has happened to this place? No change in the kitchen as the food is still quite good. Of course in order to get food you must have service and this has become a problem. No need to go on and on but we used to eat here once a week. After my son graduated from school and we weren't in the area as much it was more like twice a month. The last few visits have been terrible. They are probably short staffed, I get it so many places are. If the bar tables are full and there is only one server working it would be better to close the dining room than simply ignore everyone sitting there. Our last visit (which will be the last) we had to walk into the bar for menus, to find someone to take our order, and everything else. The kicker was the server working spent most of her time hanging at a table talking with (presumably) her friends. We should have left but had so many good experiences I didn't want to walk out. Still one of my favorite places as I said in my earlier review- the food is such a surprise because everything on the menu is so good, but, and I mentioned this as a small problem before and it has gotten so much worse lately, the noise is just too much. I wanted to eat their this past Tuesday and the volume in the restaurant was so loud that my wife and I could not hear each other at all. People are taking over tables in the dining room and just drinking, not eating, so they are sitting there for a long time so tables aren't opening. We walked out and another couple had walked in and out right behind us. This restaurant needs to decide if it wants to be a bar or restaurant, but as it is set up now, it can't be both. To me, an easy solution is some kind of noise buffer between the dining room and bar, but maybe the owner likes it this way. We've been regulars since the place opened and I do love the food, but we stopped going on Friday evenings because of the noise, and now it seems to have spread to every night. It's a real shame because I really can't say enough about how much I love the food here- everything on the menu is really, really, good. I'm not an old curmudgeon by any means, but I do like to not have to scream at the person I'm trying to talk to, and I really don't want a table full of drunks yelling at each other just a few feet away from me. If the owner would like to build a wall to fix this problem, I'll bring my tools and help out! read more

I've visited the Ashburn Village Inn several times now. #1 by far the best french fries in Loudoun County. Everything we have eaten their has been very good they have great prices fantastic Happy hour. Our service has always been good Deana served us today and she was a delightful. If you tried them when they 1st opened you need to try them again they have done nothing but improved. Back to the drinks very good prices I've had their wines beers all good next visit I'll try a cocktail. They follow all of the Covid-19 guide lines. We have been wanting to try the AVI since it opened but never had the opportunity. Wanting to help out local restaurants during this hard time we decided to try AVI although we could only do carry out. I am so happy we did! We can't speak about the service obviously, but the food was delicious. We got the Moonshine BBQ wings, Shrimp Scampi flatbread, and for the kids Mac and cheese and fries. Everything was delicious! Lots of interesting and creative items on the menu that we can't wait to try. Will definitely be supporting this local restaurant and hope they are able to find success now and after the pandemic. read more

I really wanted to like this place for starters. We went there last Saturday morning with a party of 5. The place was VERY clean and in the Halloween spirit. We sat and were grateful that the place was not busy thinking we would be served fairly quickly. After 20 minutes, a waitress (reluctantly) came over and asked if we were ready to order. We asked for menus first. She rolled her eyes and came back with menus. 15 minutes later she reappeared and asked if we were ready. 4 of us were still deciding which did not make our waitress happy. I asked if she could please take everyone else's order and by the time she got to him, he would be ready which is what happened. Took our food almost 25 minutes to get to us and when it did, it was (for me anyway) lukewarm at best. We had to flag our waitress down and asked for refills of cream and coffee. When she finally showed up (which apparently was a stretch for her) she brought milk (not cream) and LITERALLY ice cold coffee. It was clear to us that she didn't want to be there that day. But when you spend north of $100 for breakfast for 5 people, one would think that it would come with some level of customer service. Again, I really wanted to like this place. Lots of variety on the menu. BLT sliders were very good. The nachos were disappointing; they were served on a sheet pan with wax paper (rather than parchment paper) so what little bit of cheese was on them remained stuck to the wax paper. As often happens, the top layer of chips had toppings, but most chips were plain. With such a wide variety of offerings, it appears that many items were not made in house from scratch. The biggest concern was that none of the employees wore masks. It's understandable that patrons wouldn't be masked while eating, but the employees?! We saw several items we'd like to try, but we'll likely defer our next visit until after the pandemic is behind us. read more

My family checked this place out over the weekend, hubs had the brunch and I had the wings my Boys had kids brg and hotdog. The hubs raved about his dish (eggs Benedict) and said the ham was Smokey and delicious. I enjoyed the wings and had some of my kids tater tots which are super addicting with their crunch! Over all we were super satisfied with the food! Service was slow we got a round of drinks at bar since we were never checked on, even after food was dropped.
