We found ourselves in Leesburg on a Wednesday morning and decided to stop by Leesburg Diner for breakfast. It wasn't busy, so we were seated immediately, and the service was friendly, attentive, and never overbearing--thanks Mike! The interior feels like a cross between an old country store and a classic small-town diner. There's a counter with stools, booths lining the opposite wall, and additional tables toward the back. The building definitely shows its age--which makes sense given its location in historic Leesburg. The men's restroom is tiny, and the dining room was a little chilly (something a few other Yelpers have mentioned), but with the humidity outside, it wasn't a dealbreaker. The overall atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. We ordered an Americano, a waffle with scrambled eggs, and the country fried steak with sunny-side-up eggs and hash browns. Everything was delicious. The Americano, made with locally roasted Cafe Kindred coffee, was excellent--good enough that I may have to stop by their Falls Church location and pick up a bag of beans. The country fried steak was generously smothered in gravy, with plenty left over for the crispy hash browns. My eggs were just a touch more cooked than I prefer, but they were still runny enough to mix into the hash browns. My wife's waffle was enormous, and she enjoyed every bite. The portions are generous, the prices are very reasonable, and the overall value is hard to beat. After reading some previous reviews, I'm glad we visited during a quieter time. Between the comforting food, welcoming atmosphere, and attentive service, Leesburg Diner delivered exactly what you hope for from a hometown diner. We'd gladly stop in again the next time we're in Leesburg. read more

This was our first visit and we had heard good things about this diner. What a complete disappointment. The star earned was for the average service. The server was nice he deserves acknowledgment. The food however was zero stars. The restaurant was not too crowded, and we were seated right away. The ambient temperature was uncomfortably cold for the entire time we were there. Even the tables around us were saying the same thing. I ordered the classic American breakfast with soft scrambled eggs, sausage and a cheddar biscuit. I wanted hash browns but they were out (at 9:15 on a Sunday morning?!) so I settled for the breakfast potatoes. My companion ordered a side of medium poached eggs and a Belgian waffle. The food came out in a timely manner. Everything on my plate was n completely overcooked. The soft scrambled eggs were dry, rubbery and brown on the outside, the potatoes were VERY brown and burnt looking and the sausage was dry and overcooked. I was so excited to try the biscuit but when I picked it up it literally crumbled like sand in my hand. It was a dark orange and clearly overcooked. The waffle was not even slightly warm. However the poached eggs were warm and cooked perfectly. That was the only thing cooked correctly in our entire order. We flagged down our server and he even said how overcooked it was. He returned everything except the poached eggs to have it remade. When we got the 2nd attempt it was not much better at all. I still had brown on the exterior of the eggs, the potatoes were about 25% less burnt looking and I got an English muffin instead of a biscuit because apparently they were all overcooked. The sausage looked better but was like eating rubber. The waffle was warm but doughy on the inside. We did finish the waffle and poached eggs and 1/2 of my English muffin but that was about it. Didn't eat the eggs, I only ate 1/2 a sausage because it had such an unpleasant texture to it. We totally struck out. The food was simply not good at all. The service was ok. We don't see ourselves coming back and it was an expensive breakfast given we left hungry. Such a disappointment. read more

Went there today for lunch. After 25 min I asked another server about our food and he was very pleasant and checked. I commend him for his integrity telling us the lost the order but put a priority to remake. In the mean time the host at the counter took us to our table. While walking to the table I told him there were ants on the counter on the menus. He basically shrugged me and could cared less. Our server who walked past us many times never checking to see why we did not have our food. Keep in mind I had a chicken salad sandwich and my wife had the waffle. The good tasted fine but the service was non existent. Lastly. Upon leaving the ant were still there. Now my fear is the rest of the must be worse that you don't see. We were in the area yesterday morning and decided to checkout Leesburg Diner for a quick breakfast. We parked in a public parking garage around the corner (super close) and the first 2 hours were free! (my favorite price). It was a hot and super muggy day out but fear not, it was lovely and ice cold inside the restaurant! I really loved the black and white aesthetic combined with the historical vibe. We were quickly seated in a booth and our waiter took our drink order. Husband had an americano (which of course I tried) that was lovely. I had the Belgian waffle with a side of eggs (I know boring but it's what I was in the mood for). It was lovely and served with a decent carafe of syrup - plenty fortunately because this girl likes a waffles with her syrup if you get my drift. I always hate when restaurants skimp on the syrup - not this place! Eggs were good - wait staff was lovely and it was neat that many of the locals clearly frequented this establishment. Many knew the wait staffs' names and the wait staff knew theirs. Gave the place a Cheers feel which is always welcoming. Food was solid, atmosphere was relaxing and cafe-like. Old timey movies were playing on the tv screens over the bar which was cool too. Would love to come back and try some of their other dishes - I think one of the poutine skillets is next on the menu! Food was quite good. Service was quick and freindly. I had to knock off a star because it was soooo loud in there. I think it was a combination of those types that feel the need to shout rather than speak at a normal human like volume and the narrow back part where we were sitting. I really wanted to love this! Let's start with the good. Food was great! I got the chicken salad sandwich. Sounds basic but it was exactly what I needed. Husband got the breakfast special and the kids got Mac and cheese. Unfortunately, the make and cheese was runny. The cheese was more of a queso dip and not the flavor you would expect for noodles. The fries were good and they enjoyed that. Location was lovely and had the old diner feel. Loved the decor and attention to detail. Ample seating inside and out front. And it was busy. Service could've been nicer. They seemed like teens that did not want to be there. No smiles. No warmth. It was unfortunate. We spoke to 4 employees and they all gave a similar coldness. It took about 15 min to get water and orders and an additional 30 for the food to come out. Much longer than we were anticipating. The pricing for food was good! Short version: 4.8 stars! After a 9 years long boycott, i begrudgingly went back... I am glad i did! The service was great! The food was great! I recommend giving this place another chance! You might even get the chance to meet me in person! *My son said I had to include my reason they lost a star. He thinks that i am being unfair. If you care to find out, You'll have to read/scroll past the long version!* Long version: My breakfast buddy (youngest son) didn't want to go to our usual, the Silver Diner in Ashburn. So i gave him my phone to search Yelp! He said, let's go here... the Leesburg Diner. I said I haven't gone back since you were little after a very bad experience. He said to give them a second chance. Not being one to hold a grudge forever (9 years is a long time though), I gave in and drove to downtown Leesburg. Sunday morning parking was pretty easy! Although i was momentarily confused when my only option was 24 and a half hours and the low cost of fifty cents! Luckily my son is a genius and said, "It's almost like parking is free on Sundays!" I was annoyed by that he figured that out before me; but that was outweighed by the pride I felt due to how deftly he pulled off such sarcasm. My memory is not that great, but my experience 9 years was so bad I couldn't forget it. So it was immediately obvious that management had changed. No wait time, immaculately clean table, and prompt service... I guess things really can change in 9 years. Even though I was positive about it, I still ask our server if management had change since 2016. Even it is always a fact, it feels good when I have solid evidence that I'm always right! If you're anything like my son, you're probably tired of reading (hearing for him) my thoughts about this place. I promise I am gonna wrap up this review in the next paragraph! Biscuits and gravy is in the menu; so yada, yada, yada... see past reviews. I was a bit nervous, given its orange color, but the gravy was surprisingly delicious; and, Like the menu said, there was a lil' kick. The cheddar chive biscuits really paired well with it. Do not fear they did not ruin the meal in an effort to be fancy. Final note on my dish, the potatoes were really good, flat cut and fried crisp! I said one paragraph so grammar be $&@!?d.... My son ordered the blueberry pancakes When they came out here was concern over the ring of less cooked cake.... While not confirmed, there was enough evidence to prove that, yes, I am alwsys right. It wasn't a chef in trading who made them too small... they poured extra batter on top of the blueberries... my evidence being the berries, they were not flattened and poking through the other side. (Ownership or chef, feel free to testify that fact). My son's take on it, "the blueberries are plumper and juicier...," two thumbs up. Sorry to my journalism professor, grammar still be ... we will be back, and if you are stubborn like me, we encourage you to give this place a second chance. Reason they lost a whole star: I can only choose 4 or 5 and I refuse to round up anything between 4..5 to a five! I should not have to stir my coffee refill with my dirty fork or knife.. Coffee should be served with something to stir it with. Excellent coffee. The place was pretty full, but we were able to get a table on a Saturday morning just walking in. BF had the French toast, and he thought it was very very good. I had the corn beef which was also excellent. It came with two eggs and potatoes. Also toast. My only comment was that there really wasn't very much corn beef. They were a lot of potatoes. We've been to Cafe Kindred which we really like. So we thought we would get the same food and service quality. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Overall: slow service, unfriendly staff, bad food, and cute place. Service: the food took an hour to come. We asked about the status of our food multiple times, each time we had to come up to the staff. We were never checked on and the staff just kept walking past us. Because we waited so long, my husband looked around to see what the wait was. He counted that only 2 of the 18 tables, with customers, had food served. Other customers also seemed disgruntled. Overall, the wait staff was not friendly or hospitable. Food: Poor quality. I got the chicken salad sandwich which lacked flavor and did not have much chicken salad on it. My husband got the Reuben which had dry/rubbery meat. Our daughter got the kids pancakes which were normal pancakes. Ambiance: The atmosphere was great, love the older school feel. Under different ownership or a revamped service then I think this place could thrive. If I were the owners I'd look into what they're doing right at Cafe Kindred-- great food and charming staff. read more

I want to preface that I came to this diner for much of 2010s with my family and only ever had positive experiences. This time we were fully disappointed in all fronts. It looks like the diner was bought out by a different restaurant group. We had a reservation for a large group that we lowered the amount the day before and a called in a reminder on the day of. When we got there they hadn't reserved the table for us and separated our group into 2. When everyone came we ordered but they put in 1 table before putting in the second, essentially dividing our table into 2. It took about 45mins for the table #1 to receive their food and about an hour and 10 for table #2 receive our food. At this point table #1 had finished their food. Food was made wrong couple of times/ missing something. While the waiter seemed to be doing their best, it looked like there was a disconnect between the waiter and the kitchen. They comped the 1 dish that came out wrong but at that point we had waited 1 hour and 15mins + another 10 to right their wrong. Food was okay, but was it okay because we were starved at that point or because it was actually okay, we can't tell. Maybe there are too many options for a breakfast/ brunch menu to cook in time or not enough coordination between waiting staff and kitchen. Either way, utterly disappointed. read more

Nothing to write home about. This diner is cute, the atmosphere is dark yet adequately light. We arrived on Saturday around 10am and the diner was about half occupied. We were seated shortly after arriving and handed menus. After viewing the menu, my wife wanted to order the chicken and waffles but the chicken is served hot Nashville style. My wife has a chili allergy so we asked to modify the dish by switching from Nashville style to plain chicken tenders (which they have on the menu) but we were told they can NOT make the modification. Instead, my wife decided to order the tiramisu French toast and I chose the "LD" breakfast. I chose 2 eggs over easy, with white toast, sausage patties and home fries. I asked if they had non-pork breakfast meats (turkey sausage, turkey bacon or beef bacon) but they did not carry those offerings. My LD breakfast plate came out looking fairly good but I got hash browns instead of the home fries. I didn't bother correcting them because my time was limited and I'm okay with eating hash browns. I moved the toast over and discovered that one of the yolks had broken. Generally, not a big deal but that shows that the kitchen is slacking. If the yolk breaks, so be it, simply remake the eggs; yet they decided not to do that. Do note, the eggs don't come seasoned, you do the seasoning. The sausage patties were seared nicely and were plenty juicy and fatty but the flavor was off, overwhelmingly spiced with little pork flavor. The star of the show was the tiramisu French toast. It was light and crispy, it had nice and creamy mascarpone with great flavor. I'd come back to eat this. Our server was a young man, who you can tell was new or works only weekends because he didn't know the menu that well, he had to ask a manager about the chicken and waffles modification, never checked up on us after the food came out, nor did he offer refills on our drinks. With all this being said, I feel that this diner deserves the 3 star rating. Also note, there's no kids menu. read more

Usually don't eat breakfast out but had family in town so we tried it out. Disappointing to say the least. Traditional breakfast is rather easy to make but somehow on this Friday morning it wasn't for this place. Order a traditional breakfast with scrambled eggs, potatoes and sausage. Food took longer than normal to come out. When it did, the eggs were slightly warm, overcooked and no taste. The potatoes were slices of potato that were cold, very bland and hard to cut with a butter knife. I'm always searching for scratch-made Corned Beef Hash - so when I discovered that Leesburg Diner offers a scratch-made Corned Beef Hash - I knew I had to check it out. I came in for breakfast one weekday morning. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash (which comes with two eggs and toast), plus a side of bacon, coffee, and water. I ordered the eggs over-easy and specified Rye toast. The food came out not long afterward. I dug in and made sure the egg yolks broke so I could mix it throughout the hash. Not bad as scratch-made Corned Beef Hash goes. However, I wish they had incorporated the Corned Beef utilizing a finer dice on it - the pieces were rather long. The potatoes in the hash also needed to be on the crispier side. The bacon was excellent - and the coffee was some of the better diner coffee I've had recently. My first trip here will be most likely my last. I ordered the turkey BLT. Wife ordered the chili. The chili was warm and no saltine crackers! The fries with my sandwich were cold. The turkey in my BLT was deli turkey, not off the bone turkey. When I noted the food temperature, the server was rather nonchalant about it and didn't offer any consolation. Wife and I went for Breakfast on 12/22/2023. It took almost 10 minutes to be seated. It was busy but not extremely busy. We were seated in a wooden booth. The back of the booth seats is at a 90° angle, which I find uncomfortable. No seat cushins.cushions. Wife had a blueberry muffin and French toast. Both very tasty although the blueberries themselves weren't. I had a western omlette with breakfast potatoes, white toast and a side of sausage gravy. I found it unusual to be given only 1 slice of toast. Maybe that was on the menu and I missed it. The omelet itself, was cooked perfectly, vegetables tasty. The sausage gravy was delicious. Breakfast potatoes well cooked and nicely seasoned. Our server came by to refill our coffee, but the coffee carafes were just about empty. The hostess came by to check on us and offered to bring more coffee and we accepted, but she never returned. The food was decent but the service wasn't very good. A restaurant is in the service industry and customer service should be the focus if you want them to return. read more

I had a bit of time before my schedule kicked in on this particular Friday morning following the hectic holidays. I started carnivore again this year and just wanted some meat and eggs. Looked up diners and boom. Right down Main Street. Humming Bob Seger, I made my way into the doorway and was greeted with familiar subway tiles, warm lighting, the smell of coffee and of course, bacon. I sit at the bar, alone and make friends with the barista. I ordered 2 sides of bacon, sausage and 2 sunny side up eggs. Topped with Chalula. It was exactly what I needed. After living in Vienna for seven years we moved to Wilmington. Our memories of breakfast at the diner were so wonderful. On vacation, we decided to go back to the Leesburg Diner. What a disappointment. Our food was mostly left on the plate. It was obvious that everything was cooked on a dry flattop in the kitchen, including the toast. The potatoes were not hash browns or home fries, but baked rounds. Service was wonderful and it looked very much like we remembered. I was told there was a new owner.....they look need to hire a competent breakfast cook. We will not return. read more

It's not everyday I get to visit a diner that's been around since 1865!! Being from Oklahoma we just don't have a lot of those. First off, if you're visiting from out of town or out of state be sure to look for the parking garage behind the businesses here and take a short walk. There is no street parking here or private lots. Walking up I noticed everything has a colonial style look to it (best I can tell I'm an okie remember) and I thought it was super cool. It felt like going back in time. Even entering the diner felt like it was in a time capsule. I was greeted at the door and quickly seated and drinks brought to the table. There is a limited menu overall which made choosing a burger easy. Overall what i had was yummy and i really enjoyed the side salad. For me a cool experience to eat at a spot like this in a historic downtown area. I would definitely come back in again but admittedly would wait until I got into all the other cool spots in the area as well!! Def glad I stopped in here though!! read more
