After looking at several fireplace services we went with Ashbusters. I highly recommend them. They did a full inspection of our gas fireplace and cleaned everything including the very smoky and dirty glass. Ashbusters was just ok. They cleaned our chimney ok but as always found some horrible issue that they wanted to fix for $2500. Someone else came and said it wasn't necessary so we didn't do it. Plus, when it came to pay he asked if we were paying by credit or check. I was open to either so I just said credit, he had me sign the credit slip on his phone and said his phone was acting up and couldn't send me a copy of the bill and would do it when he got to the office. When I got it, there was a $10 credit card 'convenience fee'. He never mentioned the fee so we called the office and they said too bad, they couldn't reverse it. The manager was supposed to send us a check 'in a few days' to reimburse us but surprise surprise, we never received it. Will never use them again. read more

I am a realtor and often times after a home inspection my sellers need someone to fix/service gas logs. In this case we had a direct vent gas system and the gas valve was not working. Matt (so glad he was the tech) came out, evaluated the issue and ordered a gas valve. The repair wasn't cheap but the alternative was to replace the whole system. It wasn't as easy as taking the old out and putting new in but Matt stayed after it and never gave up until it was working. Always best to get 2 opinions on the fireplace repairs since some companies are incentivized to over-sell their services. If you're selling your home you may want to carve out the fireplace and say it is offered, "as-is" then you won't run into any repair/replacement issues. read more

You didn't tape down the floor covering and brought pebbles in from the drive way and rubbed them into the floors all live long day, then denied it. A reputable company had to redo the work you started finding a great omission in a component of the work AS WELL AS FLAMMABLE material used in your incomplete job. Your company service was excellent PRIOR to signing on the dotted line, and not just dismal, but abusive when you botched the job. Go for INTEGRITY and QUALITY with CHIMNEY MASONRY OUTFITTERS and don't waste your time with Asssssbusters. read more

We have used Ashbusters for over 20 years and I can't say enough good things about them. Mark, the owner, has always gone the extra mile to make sure everything is done to the highest standards. Last year, we had some significant work done to the fireplace and chimney in our nearly 120-year-old house. Apparently, the product that was used to fill some gaps in the chimney didn't work as well as it should have. And while it is not a fire hazard yet, down the road, it could be problematic. Our technician, Chad, told me about it right away, providing a detailed report and taking extensive photos. A second technician, Eric, came by today to do the repair work. Both were professional, courteous, and thorough. And, fortunately, the work was completely covered by the company's warranty. Absolutely horrible customer service. I have been trying to get someone to come out for almost a month now to service our chimneys. They told me about their service plan, and since it would save about 50% of the price they quoted, I agreed to sign up. Well, trying to sign up to save money and get someone scheduled to come out has been an absolute headache. I have never had so much difficulty trying to pay someone money to get service. It's been beyond ridiculous. I am done trying to work with their office am currently exploring reviews on Yelp and Nextdoor for another Chimney Service company - preferably one that doesn't cause this much aggravation. Wow....I was super anxious about calling this place because the Yelp review are super dicey. But they sure don't have a lot of competition in Nashville for cleaning chimneys (is there anyone else??). I had put a couple posts up asking on Facebook forums if anyone had other suggestions but nearly everyone kept saying Ashbusters, so I figured I'd go in with a buyer beware attitude. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with their online booking service which allowed me to pick a couple times that might work and have someone call me back. They called nearly immediately and I was able to get someone in the next morning (yay for having a sick kid?). There were two guys who called before they came and arrived at the start of the two hour time window they had given me when they booked the appointment. The guys were clean, courteous and the whole deal took 40 minutes and cost $209 (probably about $50 more than it was worth, but its done so....). They also clearly told me the price so it's not like there were any surprises. Happily, no one tried to sell me anything extra, rob me...I don't know whatever the other low ratings came from. However, after the thorough camera inspection and explanation from Tim, of Ashbusters Chimney Service, we felt more confident and assured of the needed service. I was calling around looking for someone to clean the chimneys in the house I just bought. I called 5 different companies in town, and all 5 quoted me at least 6 weeks waiting time. I guess chimney sweeping is more popular than I originally thought. That's fine, and not the reason for my 2-star review. I called 5 different companies, with 5 different phone numbers, but I only spoke to two different people! Yes, 3 of the companies listed here on Yelp all share the same receptionist, and the same (rather shockingly high) rates for chimney sweeping. High enough that I'm considering changing careers. So I call 3 different phone numbers, and get the same person each time. She did a good job of using the correct company name when she answered the phone each time, so I guess I should give them some credit there. Instead, they asked what the problem was and after they were completed with my neighbors home, they came over and helped me with my gas fireplace. Had leaks around the chimney and had them come out to give me a quote, Bob showed me pictures of the areas where the flashing around the chimney was leaking and where there were gaps around the chimney cap. The quote for the new cap and labor to correct the flashing around the chimney was fair, and a couple of weeks later, Mike and another tech (forgot his name) came out and in the wind and cold striped the siding off the chimney down to the wood and the shingles around the chimney and did an excellent job of waterproofing around the base and redirecting water away, they put the siding and roof shingles back on and a brand new chimney cap and the work looks excellent, these guys were very professional, easy to talk with and cleaned up everything before they left. Our gas fireplace exploded and it was very scary. We called Ashbusters and they sent a man over and he told us he would order a new glass and new stuff for the fireplace since all the old stuff exploded into a million pieces. We were frustrated because due to covid it took forEVER for the parts to come in. Every time we had an appointment we had to cancel it because the parts were not in. Finally! After reading glowing reviews of Ashbusters in my city's Facebook group, I decided to give them a try. I'm so glad I did! The online booking service was down at the time, but they offer plenty of ways to make an appointment, including live chat. They're booked WEEKS out, so make sure you plan ahead! Brandon showed up at the designated time and was friendly, fast, and so helpful. Turned out, we needed new logs (they were installed in 1995!) and he just happened to have a set on the truck. I was very impressed with Ashbusters, as sometimes when you have servicemen come out to your house they talk to you like you're dumb and just aren't the most friendly people in the world. My servicemen, Josh and Rusty, got here right on time to clean my dryer vent. They uncorked a giant clog and now my dryer is running so much more efficiently. They also trimmed down the tube that connects the dryer to the floor because it was too long. We've used Ashbusters a few times now to clean our chimney over the years. They've always done a great job. The last time we did it was April 2019, the Tech was Kameron who recommended we replace the top of our framed stack as it was holding water and was concerned about water penetration. He provided a quote after cleaning the chimney and told me to let him know when we were ready to complete the work. Fast forward to October 2019 and when we reached out and they made the appointment at our convenience, Kameron and one other Tech came out and replaced the chimney top with a seamed galvanized top that will no longer hold water saving us from big problems in the future. They even honored the price we were quoted in April without question. They were timely, professional, and did a great job for us. We would fully recommend Ashbusters to anyone! We hired Ashbusters to design and build a complete overhaul of our existing gas fireplace and mantle. We hired them to convert it to a wood burning Regency insert. They installed a new mantle, placed rock around the fireplace itself, and install a new hearth shelf. The salesman and the technicians were very friendly, professional, and respected my home. The final product is a focal point in our house and everyone compliments us on how beautiful our fireplace is. I am confident in their techncial expertise and will use them in the future to clean, inspect, and maintain my fireplace. I give them three stars because they missed a couple significant details and cut a couple corners in the design. For example, I supplied the wood mantle and asked Ashbusters what length I should be cut to. It was a bit short and the field technician had to make some modifications during the installation for the look to flow. It looks good, but could of been great. When they completed the work, the hearth shelf was loose and the mortar had begun to crack just a couple weeks after installation. When I expressed a concern and asked for it to be repaired, I was told that my concerns were a characteristic of the design. If I wanted it fixed, there would be a significant change. Eventually they did make it right and it is definitely robust and solid now. During that process, the discussions I had with them made me feel as though I should of known it was a weak design and the shelf would not of been sturdy rather than my expectation that they are the experts and I was relying on them and their technical expertise to provide a great looking solid fireplace. My advice would be hire these guys, but be sure to ask a lot of basic questions during the purchase process and bounce them off a professional designer. read more
