I choose this salon because they marketed themselves as "blonde experts" and especially the stylist Alyssa. I have natural light blonde Scandinavian hair and I carefully explained that it burns easily and my hair is very fine. She clearly had no idea how do handle a true blonde and completely destroyed my hair. The front of my hair was so burnt it looked all white and my straight hair looked almost curly/frizzy because it got so damaged. Super traumatic experience. And all this after telling her multiple times my hair burns fast and she didn't even come check on it once during the coloring process. It's very different doing Bayalage on a brunette and doing highlights on a true blonde person. Don't call yourself a "blonde" expert if you're not. Contacted the owner and she agreed for me to come back a few days later and she would try to fix it. One minute before that appointment she texted me, not even calling, telling me she had do cancel. I understand mistakes can happen but it's how you handles them that means everything to the customer. She had a chance to make this right but instead made it worse. Luckily I found Sirène Belle salon in downtown La Jolla and they SAVED my hair and it looks so incredibly good! (And better price) I'm sad I didn't go there in the first place instead of wasting my time. EDIT: I have been receiving many uncomfortable messages from the stylist Alyssa multiple times since I had my appointment. The other day she was begging me to remove this review. And let me be clear, this review is 100% my true experience. Today I got an extremely disturbing text message from the owner Courtney to again change my review telling me this is going to give me bad karma... I am simply writing this to warn others who have any sort of complexity with their hair (mine being extreme hair loss and extra fine blonde hair) to no choose this salon because they can't handle any of the box situation. I learned it the heard way and by going to a different salon who actually knew what they were doing. When I explained to Courtney that my hair is destroyed and will take years to recover from the visit to her salon she answered me "Your hair is fine and will recover. It's just hair." Alyssa is the best! She truly does her best in trying to get your hair the color you want it the healthiest way! When Alyssa first started doing hair I would let her "practice" on me. I always wanted lighter hair but was always scared I would damage it. She's done such a great job over the years lightening it that I haven't tried to go to anyone else. Everytime I get my hair done I get so many compliments of how healthy my hair looks even with being so blonde. I would drive over an hour to her everytime I got my hair done and now she has moved to San Diego! When she told me she was moving I was devasted.. I didn't know who was going to do my hair but she reassured me that she would come visit and still be able to do my hair. I've definately been tempted to make a weekend trip to have my hair done by her. I missed her the last time she came to visit, but she'll be visiting in just a few weeks and I cannot be more excited! She took her time making sure everything looked good and asked me along the way if I liked it to make sure it turned out just like I wanted it, I had sent her pictures of how I wanted it and she did magic on my hair, she did a beautiful caramel bayalage and hair cut. When we got there they charged us twice as much as they said on phone right before we left for the appt. The hairdresser also had no permission to change what we wanted. I love this salon and my hairstylist Ashley Ortega! Ashley has been doing my hair since I moved to La Jolla about a year ago (when we have been able to due to covid). I am obsessed with Ashen, specifically Courtney -- the Chris McMillan to my Jen!! I have naturally red-toned brown hair and wanted to amplify the red, which is a really tough color to create in a natural way (so often you see a red that looks like it came from a bottle). owner of Ashen, I scheduled a PARTIAL highlight, told her up front No toner. she chose to do more to increase her price point. the picture I showed her was a whiter blonde highlight with the rest my natural color. the style was the soft waves of curls that is VERY popular right now. showed her several different shots of same style/cut!!! if you look at your so-called before and after pics you can see it was completely flat with no body and no curls. the before pic, was washed that morning, dried, and i drove there in a convertible with the top down. she said she didn't want to brush or comb it out before pics. she kept commenting on how "healthy" it looked afterwards. it would have looked healthier before had it not been a wind blown mess in the pre- pictures. and yet, not the color, not the style and NOT the session I pre-booked!!!!! a PARTIAL highlight!!!! it was changed I was told at the end because "she did more"! I tipped her 20% not on HER value, but because my goal was to return to the original stylist that was recommended but couldn't get me in for weeks and I didn't want a "bad name for tipping" in your salon!!! however, after reading your reply to my first post, I can easily see that deception and lying online is just as condoned as is in person! read more

UPDATE: I no longer go to Maryam for my hair because of scheduling issues (Wednesdays work best for me and she doesn't work on that day!). For the past two times I have gone to Erica and I have to say that she is phenomenal! With both cut and color she is an absolute pro. I get a partial balayage and it always grows out beautifully. I am constantly getting compliments on my hair! She also has a great eye for what tones work well with your skin, as well as what cut will flatter your facial features. If you're looking to go blonde or stay blonde, I'd highly recommend Erica. Fantastic salon! Maryam cut and colored my hair and I love it. She listened to what I wanted and delivered.
