The young man behind the counter is always friendly and professional, and the lady who works on the weekends is just as pleasant and welcoming. Everyone treats you like family. Here we go; I found this buffet by accident. There are several places I go to within the area and just so happen saw their sign and figured I would check this place out. It's in a small strip mall right across the street from a gas station. Well, I love the fact the owners and workers are very clean. They make you wash your hands and put on gloves before you fix your food. I love the wide variety of Caribbean dishes that are available. You have a great selection of meats from ox tails to chicken, fish, goat, shrimp, etc. Even beef patties of all flavors. You have multiple choices. Im coming to this establishment to spend money to support the business not to receive your attitude. My absolute favorite place in the area for Jamaican food. It's a buffet so you can get as much or as little as you want and you pay by weight which can get very dangerous lol. I typically get chicken, baked macaroni, cabbage and sweet plantains. My favorite thing about this place is that they don't over salt their food. I HATE when restaurants try to kill you with sodium as if their meal is your last meal. I used to come here frequently when i worked in the area now i go during the weekend if I'm around. The person at the register is always really nice and helpful especially if it's your first time there. They also have patties at the register and fruit and vegetable juices that are really tasty. Parking can be tricky but i try to park on the next street over and just walk over to make it easier to get out. There are a few other stores in their center which causes their few spots to fill up quickly. Where do I even begin! Ashlee's Jamaican Buffet is literally my top 5 Favorite place to go to... if you are looking for authentic Jamaican food and you are located anywhere near Uniondale... This is the place to go! I really have nothing negative to say about this place. The food is ridiculously delicious. My favorite is the rice and peas, their delicious oxtails, jerk chicken wings, mac & cheese, and their barbecue chicken. Also, can't go wrong with a Jamaican soda! This is a buffet style restaurant, you come in and grab your plate and serve yourself as you'd like. Honestly, the possibilities are endless. The price of your plate depends on its weight, so keep that in mind... The heavier your plate is, the more expensive, but it's all worth it! One thing I really admire about this place, is how serious they took precautions during the height of the pandemic, and even still: When you come in, they urge you to use hand sanitizer, then you are provided with gloves, before grabbing your plate. I was driving around looking for some Carribean food around 10pm on a Sunday and this place caught my eye since it was still open! We now realize it's a hit or miss and for prices they have, we cant afford to take the chance. We literally threw the food away because it wasnt edible. I eat here at least 3 times a week. Sometimes more. The food is pretty good for the most part. I can cook, but after working a long shift, I'm never in the mood to clean chicken, and do everything required to cook. I'm just too tired. So Ashlee's is where I go for bfast, (salt fish and festival or porridge) or lunch and dinner. I won't say the food is horrible. For the most part is pretty good. Everyone is friendly, inside is clean. The only reason I'm not giving them 4 or 5 stars is because the taste and quality of the food is inconsistent. Some days the chicken is super dry and hard, some days the Mac and cheese tastes different, one day it's yellow , one day it's orange ‍. Some days the festival or fried dumplings are crisp, other days you can break a window with them. I'm not going to lie, I will keep going back out of shear laziness because I don't like to cook when I come home from work. But if they could just keep the recipes consistent I would be so much happier with them.
