Ice cream is ok, customer service is fine. Still nothing to write home about, since our last visit a year ago.

Delicious ice cream, large scoops, fun flavors. The line is extremely long on a warm summer evening though. Very friendly staff!

Ashley's was voted CT's best for a reason! I used to love coming here when I lived in the area, and it's still wonderful a decade later. They don't open until noon, but it's a nice midday break and offer free water for visitors. When I mentioned my nut allergy, the staff automatically went to scoop from an untouched tub in the back. I got the regular (two scoops) of coffee Oreo, and while I probably prefer chocolate chunks, it was delicious!

After reading the top comment (from 7 yrs ago??) we had to see if this place had "real" ice cream. That review must have inspired this shop to create a poster, hung on the wall, declaring their dairy concoctions are authentic and made fresh. On a beautiful summer night, there was a long line that moved swiftly with every lady working doing an efficient job in consolidating containers, scooping and blending, and checking people out. We ordered a mint chip on a cone (because the old review inspired), a chocolate shake (not ordered, but they have MALT, yum!), and the dairy free coconut raz. To me, a spoiled child of homemade ice cream, Ashley's was far too sweet, and not enough of the flavor promised (raspberry, where are you??). I did like the consistency and flavors offered, and the fact that they are open later than the place up at the nearby rotary. More of a 3.5 for flavor, but I will give the .5 for good service and great art!

Delicious ice cream & hot fudge that I'll bet is legendary... it was that-good! This was our first time here and we were very happy with our ice cream. I think it's important to note that where we live at home there are many dairy farms with 2 (used to be 3 prior to the shutdown) homemade ice cream places, so we can trusted to judge ice cream. :) The woman working in the store was super friendly. I happened to visit the restroom before leaving and it was spotless. There's a charming courtyard outside, with small stature and benches littered throughout. Definitely a nice stop.

We stopped into Ashley's after we ate dinner across the street at The Place. It's a small ice cream shop with some indoor and outdoor seating. There are limited flavors but some are creative- like coffee Oreo (which was delicious) and blueberry cobbler (which I didn't try but looked yummy). Staff is young, friendly and tag teamed to get ice cream for my group of 13 with ease. Prices are in line with most other shops in my area... maybe slightly higher. Waffle cones were good. They have waffle bowls as well. The whipped cream was superb! I don't know what it was- didn't taste homemade but was not the spray kind! Omg! Delicious! Follow me on Instagram @date_night_craves

Loved the banana oreo ice cream. Not artificial tasting at all. The other flavors were good but not great. The waffle bowls, holy hell they were stale. . Definitely took away from the experience. Staff wasn't super friendly but whatever we came for the ice cream. Would try again without the bowl this time.

This is a lovely ice cream shop with so many different flavors. My parents love this place, and they recommended this ice cream shop to me. I took my aunt here, and we both loved the flavors we chose. I got the coffee Oreo, which was not too sweet but had a great strong coffee flavor. My aunt got the raspberry sorbet, which was so refreshing and had the right amount of tartiness. The portions are very generous, and the staff is very friendly too. I will definitely come back to try more flavors. Highly recommend this place.

"I went down to the crossroads Tried to flag a ride…read moreNobody seemed to know me Everybody passed me by" (Eric Clapton) If you're heading from the Hartford area on a trip to the shopping outlets in Clinton, the odds are quite good that your GPS will take you south on Higganum Road or Route 81. Eventually, you'll hit a crossroads and traffic circle where 81 meets Deep River Road or Route 80. Congratulations, because that crossroads is also the location of Crossroads, a very cool ice cream shop. We made our first ever visit to Crossroads today (they've only been open for a year and a half) and were very impressed with the friendly service, great ice cream, and outdoor seating overlooking the water. My Kiddie sized sea salt caramel dish was excellent and very reasonably priced at just $3.75. Bonus points for their generous amount of chocolate sprinkles! My wife had a dish of peanut butter brownie, and of course I sampled it. If you like peanut butter ice cream, as I occasionally do, you've probably been disappointed once in a while because the peanut butter flavor was kind of timid. But not at Crossroads! Their peanut butter flavor came blasting through loud and clear. It was fantastic. Their outdoor seating area is quite nice with lots of Adirondack chairs, tables, fire pits, and a corn hole game. I enjoyed chatting with the young staff who gave me a few blank looks when I asked them if they knew Eric Clapton's song "Crossroads". *Pro Tip - Crossroads doesn't have a website, but you'll find them on FB and Insta

I had Mint, Smores and Dark Chocolate Raspberry Truffle for ice cream flavors with all the fixings. Mint was the best choice, could have done without the other two. I will be back for a normal ice cream sometime.

The fried cod was some of the best I've ever had. Fish tacos were very good - love the red pepper remoulade it comes with. French fries and fried clam strips are both excellent - though I agree with another reviewer who mentioned that the clams could be a bit crispier. The two times we've gotten them, they needed just a touch more crunch and golden brown color. Still very good and the best around!!! But feels like they would benefit from a bit more time in the fryer. Glad you're back, Clam Castle!!

The service was quick, friendly, and attentive, and the restaurant had a casual atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to our expectations. The soft-shell crabs tasted good, but the portions were extremely disappointing. The crab itself was so small that it was dwarfed by the romaine lettuce and standard tomato slices on the sandwich. For a dish that's supposed to be the star of the meal, it felt underwhelming. We also ordered the whole belly clams. They were good, but not exceptional, especially considering the price. I personally prefer them a bit crispier, and the batter lacked that crunch. The portion size was average. Our bill for two soft-shell crab sandwiches, one order of fried whole belly clams, and two Diet Cokes came to about $80. I understand that dining out is expensive these days, but the value simply wasn't there for us--particularly when it came to the size of the soft-shell crabs. Overall, the service and atmosphere were positives, but based on the portion sizes and price, I'm not sure we'd return.

When someone finally acknowledged us, we were just told to "wait." Ten minutes later, we checked in again, only to be told that our table was still occupied, with no real update or apology. Trying to make the best of it, we went to the bar to order a drink while we waited, but the bartender responded with an attitude and told us "the host will be with you soon" -- which had nothing to do with the fact that we were simply trying to get a drink while we stood there waiting. It was an unnecessary brush-off. We were finally seated over 30 minutes after our reservation, and placed our full order right away, hoping to make up for lost time. But then the cheese board took another 30 minutes to arrive. When we asked, we were told there was some kind of miscommunication -- again, no real ownership or urgency. Then came the main course. I ordered the bavette steak medium rare, but what I got was clearly rare and chewy, as the photo shows. When I mentioned it, the waitress did say it looked maybe on the rare side to her but also that Bavette can come out like that looking red - but Undercooked and poorly prepared is not a feature of the cut. We didn't want to wait longer so just ate some. To be fair, our waitress was kind and acknowledged the issues, but it was one of the most frustrating "high-end" dining experiences I've had. At these prices and with this reputation, you expect better service, better pacing, and food cooked properly. Instead, it felt like we were an afterthought the entire night.

It's definitely a little more expensive than some of the other lobster spots we tried, but I honestly liked the food here the most. The lobster meat is lightly seasoned with what tasted like butter and lemon, and it all worked perfectly together without overpowering the lobster. The bun was incredibly soft and loaded with so much meat that it was practically falling apart in the middle. We got the half-pound lobster roll both times and would absolutely order it again, but it is $60. The clam chowder was also excellent. It's creamy without being too thick, and you can really taste all the ingredients. The hot dogs seem to be really popular -- almost everyone was ordering a lobster roll and a hot dog combo. My son loved them so much he had two the first visit! The outdoor seating and water views make it such a relaxing place to sit and eat, and there's also a market on-site where you can buy lobster and shellfish.
