We came for lunch today thinking since they are always busy on weekends we'd have better luck for parking and tables well darling lol we should have just chose another spot for sure... i got the crab cakes way to thick they were fried to perfection but inside was way too thick and mushy 3 out of 5 for me. I got the bill platter which was alright if it was fried to crisp not like semi soft onion rings were damn near raw inside the batter. My 2026 review isn't as good as years past, which is disappointing. We ordered the Fisherman Platter ($36), which ended up being mostly french fries. The oyster dish was supposed to be a small dish, but we were served the large portion ($29). We ate indoors, but our spicy margaritas ($12.50/ea) were served in plastic cups, not a pint glass. I've been coming here for more years than I care to count, since I was a kid. Multiple years upon multiple. They're located right by the whistling bridge for those of you who know the bridge is called that. There's a large lengthy parking lot which is usually close to full. There's am ice cream place in the same parking lot which you can pass on. Please trust me in this. You're not missing anything. I've tried a few times. Not sure why I keep trying it. Anywho, Bill's Seafood is spot on. There's a very large outdoor deck with lots of tables. There's also indoor seating and a bar to sit at. Much easier to get a table a lot quicker if you opt to eat inside. I switch every now and then, depending on our preferences at any given day. The restaurant is plainly decorated. Nothing stands out. The majority of time I've been here the place is usually very busy and just about full. I've never had to wait long anytime for my food. They really whip out the food pretty quickly in the years I've been coming here. You will be pleasantly surprised at the time it takes you to get your food when you see how busy it is if you stop here. Very surprised. The restaurant is a clean as most places. They clean up well after the tables are turned. The service has never been anything remarkable as in awesome over the top and very hospitable. It's just solid, regular, good, quick service with receiving your food quickly. They must have a good amount of cooks in back. Seafood is ALWAYS fresh. I must repeat this. My fault for not being specific! I assumed when I ordered the mussels our waitress knew I meant appetizer. Instead I got meal which was over a bowl of pasta I would never eat. The actual mussels were good but tomato base needed more spices. The fish dinner was fresh but coating and fries also lacked any flavor. Went this past weekend. Really disappointed. When the food came it looked amazing!! Lovely light crust! Hubby had the fried soft shell crab sandwich and I had fried clam strips. The main takeaway of this review was that I felt the hostess/manger was a little bit too rude. This restaurant was clean and service was quick however, I have a multitude of food allergies, and often don't like eating at restaurants, I was here with my family and had brought my own food so I could enjoy a meal alongside them. This was the first time a restaurant has told me I cannot eat outside food, even after I said that I am highly sensitive to cross-contamination,. I understand policy and I put away my food once I was informed, however I am quite displeased with the demeanor that the policy was shared with me and my family. Now, sometimes I try getting food from restaurants but several times I've reacted, so if they are truly that confident with their ability to accommodate allergies, I felt that should've been told to me instead of the rude dismissive attitude of the hostess/manager. My family still got food and they say it tastes delicious. I am a teenager and became sad because the delivery was so that I felt like had just been scolded, so my family got their food to go and we ate in a nearby park together. (For reference I have severe allergies to fish, eggs, dairy, treenuts so with knowledge this was a fishy-buttery restaurant I brought my own meal) In conclusion I urge more kindness when enforcing rules because when children of any kind come in with their own food they have no malicious intent and do not mean to insult your restaurant. My wife and I are seniors and went with our vested service dog to eat out on the deck at Bills Seafood in Branford. We purposely went in the early afternoon to avoid crowds because of our dog. We were met by Evelyn who was mean and grouchy and never smiled or said welcome. She immediately interrogated us about our service dogs purpose, then rudely told us the dog must remain under the table at all times. We were then watched closely every minute we were there. When a head peeked out from under the table, we were swiftly reprimanded! When I gave the dog a treat for good behavior, I was again swiftly reprimanded and told you can't feed the dog here! I told the manager (in the presence of the waitress) that I have NEVER felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome in my life. A got a half hearted sing song "...sorry..." and they walked away. Inside is clean and inviting, however, it's loud and the inside wasn't that busy. Staff was right on point. Draft beer nice and cold. The oysters on a half-shell were fresh, but not completely removed from the shell, so I needed to give them a helping hand. Sauce for the oysters was just nothing more than bad ketchup. Hardly had horseradish. I had whole belly clams which were very large in size. They were very good. I had them with sweet potato fries and slaw. The fries were excellent. Nice and crispy. The coleslaw was nothing special. Overall the food was very good. Bill's was recommended as a local seafood location on the water. First of all, looks are deceiving. The place is deceiving. It is huge so much space inside, bar space and a fun outdoor experience. Picnic tables are separate from an outdoor bar area. We were also surprised at the depth of the menu. Two pages of food from which to choose. As that is t enough, there was a page of specials. We both chose specials. Me - the poke bowl my friend the tuna soecial with mango also. Her tuna was either overcooked or not tuna. Mine was good not great. The silverware is a very very cheap plastic variety type. That would be a huge opportunity for an immediate upgrade. At least nice plastic. The place is cash only with an ATM on premise. read more

My friend got the peel n eat shrimp. They came without the shell . Where's the peel and eat?? Frozen shrimp is my guess. I had a pina colada. $15! It was definitely artificial mix. Normally I love Bill's. But this trip? Oh, God! First the good: clam chowder. Clam chowder is always good here. That's it. No more good on this trip. Though the calamari was not overly breaded and fairly tender, it was rather tasteless. The raw oysters which are generally at least above average were VERY tiny, not cleaned well, and stuck in their shells. They had no steamers this evening, and thus were not offering the shore dinners (a "go to" of mine when here). So I got the 1.25 pound lobster. I knew it would be small, so I asked about the stuffed lobster. Waiter said the stuffing was a good seafood stuffing. No. No it wasn't. It was like a small loaf of bread sitting on top of the lobster, not even in it. And it contained only a smattering of seafood. Ate two bites and tossed the rest. And the lobster? Maybe five bites total, and not cooked well at all. EXTREMELY disappointed. read more

Had a great time taking my wife out for her birthday dinner. She always wants to go to an establishment in another town but I wanted to take a ride and boy am I glad we did. It was my wife's first time here and she thought the food was fantastic. She had the Baked Fresh Cod and was in love. Was ready to go back for it the next night. Portion was huge. I had the Seafood platter and I will forever complain no matter where I am that there are too many fries and not enough seafood for the price but I will still always order it if it is there. There is better on a summer day than heading to the shore for some good seafood. I love the atmosphere at Bill's,and there is inside and outside seating.They are located on a river, and have their own dock, so you can dine while you're out boating. I came here for an early lunch with my friend on a weekday so it was not busy at all which was nice! We sat on the patio by the shining bridge with a beautiful view and good service. We ordered a few items to share and all were super delicious. The clam chowder was light but creamy at the same time.
