Words truly cannot describe how much I appreciate and love Ray's Car Shop! As a woman, finding a…read moretrustworthy car shop has always felt like a nightmare--you never know how you'll be treated or if someone will try to take advantage. From the very first visit, everyone at Ray's made me feel welcomed, respected, and valued. Katie at the front desk is such a breath of fresh air. She's incredibly kind, transparent, and upfront about everything she knows. She never tries to upsell or pressure customers into unnecessary work, which is so rare in this industry. Her honesty alone gave me confidence that I was in the right place. I originally came in with my 2017 Mercedes AMG after becoming completely frustrated with the regular Mercedes dealership. Their outrageous quotes and unnecessary suggestions made it clear that their only priority was money, not the customer. After doing a ton of research, I decided to take a chance on Ray's--even though it meant driving all the way from Bloomington, MN--and I am so glad I did! Ray himself is one of the most genuine and meticulous mechanics I've ever met. He was honest with me about what needed to be done, careful with my car as if it were his own, and never once made me feel pressured. The entire experience was so positive that I immediately started recommending Ray's Car Shop to everyone I know. Now, I don't just bring my Mercedes here--I also trust Ray and his team with my Toyota. That says a lot, because once you find a shop this reliable and sincere, you stick with them for life. I can't thank Ray and his team enough for their honesty, professionalism, and the peace of mind they've given me. If you're looking for a car shop that truly cares about you and your vehicle, Ray's is the place to go!

Ray is the only guy in town who I will trust with my Chevy Duramax/Allison pickup. He is…read morecompetent, incredibly honest, and always keeps you in the loop. His pricing is competitive. I've been his customer for a number of years, and every job he's done on my truck has been top notch. I have a story to emphasize his honesty. I recently had a few "nagging issues" that I asked him to estimate for me. One of the issues, a loss of fluid problem, was initially estimated well north of a $1,500 dollars to fix. The truck has over 300,000 miles on the clock, so you sort of expect those things, but this one was "one I could live with", so I deferred that repair until my budget would allow. Meanwhile Ray had the truck for another issue "in the vicinity" of that loss of fluid problem. Contrary to his original diagnosis, his other work around that problem area uncovered a hidden loosened tubing connector. A couple of wrench turns (free gratis), and we're able to discard that expensive estimate. I've been in shops before where I might have never been informed of that discovery, and would have paid for the original estimate.

After bringing my Trailblazer here I would feel completely comfortable making the decisions on my own. (see photos) They give a comprehensive file with pictures and additional insight to the problems, which is extremely helpful. There were a few questions I had about a couple recommended issues and Pete (who completed my inspection report) was able to clarify them with ease and honesty, so I was able to save money on not having to do that repair. It was more of a riding comfort suggestion so it wasn't a big deal since it doesn't bother me. I received a link to the reports via text and e-mail. For the estimate, you can go down the list, which included each cost, and just click "approve" if you want it done which is very convenient when you are at home. If you have questions call! Like I said above they are very easy to talk to and there was never any feel of pressure. Being pregnant during COVID is a concern but the inside was very clean including the shuttle service vehicle and I was very comfortable being there. They have a drink station there or Dunkin Donuts is next door. I also thought it was neat that they have a big picture window with bar height stools and counter that you can watch the mechanics in the shop. I don't think I've ever seen that before. After the repairs, I called around for other pricing estimates and CBA was around what others were. Some areas were less and some were slightly more. One being the fluid flushes. CBA was about $20-30 more expensive. I am a fairly frugal but I would still choose here versus saving $20 somewhere else, especially if you are getting other work done which could equal out the total price. Plus, you have the photos to prove why the repair needs to be done versus someone basically telling you to trust them.. This is now our first choice for automotive repairs. Good job Christian Brothers Auto, you exceeded my expectations.

I WAS CHARGED NEARLY $1200 FOR A BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR. I picked up my car and within 2 months my battery died. I had to jump my car to get to and from anywhere! When I brought my car back, they made sure to tell me that my new battery warranty only included one new battery~ DESPITE THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY IN THE RECIPT. The front desk guy who is old and looks disheveled is a complete ass. He was trying to provide me with their complimentary uber service despite me seeing him do it for another customer. The store manager or owner even told me, "it's time for him to retire." After getting my car back from having my 2nd "new" battery from TGK, my stereo didn't work, my USB charger didn't work and the radio would not play sound. I took my car back to TGK as it had been only 2 weeks since they repaired my car for a second time. The admitted to likely blowing a fuse and then proceeded to REFUSE to fix the problem because they could cause FURTHE damage. STAY FAR FAR FR AWAY. They definitely prey on single women and those with little to no car knowledge. Now 6 months after getting the 2nd "new battery", it completely died. When I took my car to Autozone, they told me that the battery that they gave me was USED and the alternator they installed was REFURBISHED. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

This business has now been purchased by Golden Valkey Tire. I brought my personal vehicle here right after the transition, before I realized what was different. I had a fine experience and got quoted slightly above competitors for some repairs. The experience was reasonable overall, although I did feel like everyone behind the front desk was really judging me for not wanting to proceed with some repair options that I were presented to me. I came back a few weeks later with company vehicles since my employer had used this place in the past, and the vibe had deteriorated so much more. This truly is a Golden Valley Tire owned operation and it's not good. Things went wrong from the scheduling of the appointment. The person on the other end of the line was completely fumbling through the system and muttering to himself. He couldn't figure out how to get things to save even. Of course he didn't tell me that though, so when I showed up there was no appointment. I gave them the simple instruction to give the vehicle an oil change so that it would be ready to pick up later. They emailed me a full inspection report which was thorough and detailed, but guess what? They didn't do the oil change. I guess they wanted some sort of approval, but it was a busy work day and if I tell them it's the only reason for my visit I expect it to get done and the vehicle to be ready when I come to pick it up. This place is a mess right now. I hope they can find a way to improve, I understand transitions can be hard, but...proceed with caution if you're considering being a customer here.

I don't have specialty tools and have to borrow or head to O'Reilly Auto Parts (did you know O'Reilly's has a tool rental program? To rent tools from your local O'Reilly Auto Parts, simply purchase the auto parts you need and put down a deposit on the rental tool. Return the rental tool in its original condition and receive a full refund when you bring it back.) Regardless, Skip's has been my go-to for auto work. Sometimes I don't have the time (or focus or room) or I'm in over my head. They will suss out the problem and do the work at a competitive (it used to be *too* low) shop rate. Apparently it's a different company now. I brought my car in to replace a purge valve. It's a busy time of year for a lot of us, and I was willing to pay to get it done. I walked in and explained the issue. They asked for a diagnostic fee. I had a flashback to my local auto repair shop where I had an ignition coil out and it wound up costing $1,800 total for a 15-minute, top-of-the-motor, single-bolt, $75-dollar-part coil replacement. Which I have done twice since with a ratchet and a $75 coil. I left and changed the purge valve myself. 30 minute, top-of-the-motor, single-10mm-bolt replacement of a $55 part. And now I'm back on the road. I'll stop back, but I'm not so sure I like the way things are going.
