A friend and I ate lunch at Monsoons today because of all the great reviews. Not really sure…read morewhether these reviewers have ever eaten in a real Thai place, but I was not impressed. You order the food and pay for it and then they bring it to your table. The man who took our order was extremely rude and nasty. He was so busy watching the television that he could barely take our order and when we asked him questions, he barked at us to look at the booklet with the pictures. I almost walked out right then, but since we were there, I held my displeasure in and I thought OK well hopefully the food will be better. I had Pad Thai and my friend had drunken noodles. My Pad Thai was basically noodles with peanut bits in it. Not any type of peanut sauce like it's supposed to have. It was tasteless and disgusting. But the portion was huge. So if people just want a plate full of noodles that have no taste then I guess this is the dish for you My friend who had never eaten Thai food before liked her drunken noodles with broccoli. So I guess if you have never eaten Thai food, you might really like the huge portions they give you. But for those people that have eaten at a Thai restaurant before will know that this is not real Thai food. No spices. No sauce. No taste. Will I ever be back? No, I will not.

Last time we came this was not open so we were glad to have chance to try.. hubby got chicken wings and dumpling as appetizers both were very good. I had shrimp fried rice. Their sauces were a bit on spicy side for me but our waitress brought me one that had more of sweet flavor. They give you more food than you'll eat! It was pretty good. Very nice decor and quiet based on where the restaurant is.

Customer Service is Five Stars. Very friendly, welcoming and understanding…read more Lovely art on the walls and dining in was excellent with perfect lighting. The food was good, not great. I have ordered shrimp fried rice on many occasions and this was not a five star in my opinion. It lacked more flavor. When I eat a great tasting platter I typically skip them yum yum sauce and enjoy the way it was meant to be. This meal led me to ask if it was available, which is not. I then made an attempt to put soy sauce in it which I caused my own disaster for my remainder of the meal. Which was fine because I am trying to cut back and my wife enjoyed it later in the night as a leftover. My wife ordered a dish which was not cooked right (don't remember but doesn't matter) because the manager quickly agreed and recognized the issue and replaced the meal then comped the new meal also. Awesome service. The meal had something to do with the meat being sliced too thick, which caused over cooking, then ended in being dried out and tough. They are fixing this issue. The plate only had one large shrimp and a few small shrimps (like from the cup of ramen type). I felt it needed more shrimp. My wife's meal had a lot of large shrimps. Just couldn't give five stars even though they tried way above and beyond just due to my liking of my meal. Thank you again to management.

Everyone at our table received their food in a timely manner--except me. I ordered the hamachi kama and was told it would take about 20 minutes to bake, which I was completely fine with. However, after waiting... and waiting... and watching my entire family finish their meals, we were then told my order had been messed up because the restaurant got backed up and busy and would take another 10-15 minutes. At that point, nearly everyone was done eating, so I asked for my meal to be boxed to-go. We spoke with a manager, Chris, who apologized and told us the meal would be comped--which felt like an appropriate resolution given the situation. But after sitting there for almost TWO HOURS total, my husband and son went to follow up, only to be told that my order had been completely canceled. The reasoning? That they "weren't going to comp something and let you walk out with free food." That response was honestly shocking. I never asked for anything extra--just the meal I ordered, even if it had to be to-go at that point. Instead, I left without eating at all. The lack of communication, the excessive wait, and the way the situation was handled at the end completely ruined what was supposed to be a celebratory night. Really disappointing experience. We didn't even want to order the desserts we planned on ordering because at that point, they didn't deserve another dollar. The environment would've been enjoyable if we weren't focused on food missing and the lack of customer service.

My wife and I ordered from Pho Lao Kitchen Der for takeout. We are quite versed in Thai cuisine,…read morehave only become interested in Vietnamese cuisine in the past few years, but are completely ignorant of Lao food. The portion sizes here are huge! Here was our order: -Shrimp Salad (Summer) Rolls: 10/10...the rolls were twice the size of rolls you get at other Thai places for the same price. But with the peanut sauce, they were transcendental. That peanut sauce could be bottled and sold en masse. So so so good. -Papaya Salad: 7.5/10, very refreshing, but with a secret hit of spice on the back of the palate that wakes you up. Crisp, fresh, healthy. -Larb chicken: this was a first for me....to my unrefined palate, it tasted almost like ground chicken cooked with pho spices/herbs. I ended up drizzling some of the leftover peanut sauce on the chicken which was amazing. Again, lots of protein and vegetables, perfect for health-conscious folks. 9/10 -Pad Thai: this is my wife's safe order that she always uses as a litmus test for restaurants, and it did NOT disappoint! She said this was her favorite pad Thai EVER, and with drizzles of the extra peanut sauce and lime juice, this dish was truly elevated. 10/10. -Mango Sticky Rice: 100000000/10, my lord I don't know how I lived my life without this. It's reminiscent of peach cobbler in my opinion, but with mango. The sweetened rice isn't overly sweet, which allows the sharpness/sweetness of the mango to shine. The mango itself was perfectly ripe, whereas most mangos tend to be sickly sweet and mushy from overripening. All in all, this is our new favorite for Thai cuisine in Tri-Cities, and my introduction to Lao food was beautiful and filling. We will absolutely be back in the future, as I'd love to see how Lao pho differs from Vietnamese pho. Plus the mango sticky rice is etched into my mind permanently.

Service was amazing and food was even better. Some of the best Thai food I've ever had.read more
