Sebastian was our waiter and I gotta say he did an exceptional job! We were waiting for family to arrive but they still let us be seated and ordered drinks. Our glasses didn't once get empty. Sebastian was very attentive and checked on us frequently without making us feel at all rushed. We ordered appetizers and everything was perfect, it was so delicious I forgot to take pictures of everything! It was all hot and fresh and flavorful. When the rest of our family arrived we were served quickly and felt so comfortable staying and spending time together. That being said I've NEVER spent 2 and a half hours at a restaurant under such good circumstances. We ended up ordering a 3rd time and we really tried to be as polite as we could to this gentleman for doing such an amazing job! This is our family's favorite Asian restaurant now and we can't wait to go back! We left a generous tip and thanked him for everything and left extremely full and happy! First time ordering takeout. It's the best deal on Chinese I've seen around Austin. And there's not too many options south so this may be a go to especially because of the reasonable pricing. Got the moo shu and it was excellent - def the best I've had in Austin. Also got the chicken lo mein which was a bit disappointing as it was mostly noodles (no vegetables at all except for scallion and bit of carrot and small amount of chicken) so next time I think I'd get the vegetable one or just the plain side of noodles. Had a disappointing takeout order from here. Was really craving wonton soup and ordered two large. I could barely finish one of them. The wontons themselves were fine, with good filling and a solid wrapper ratio. However, the broth was oddly spiced and very greasy. Not the rich but clear both you expect from a wonton soup. Also had a vermicelli bowl with grilled pork and pork egg rolls. That was much better than the wonton soup. I would give them a second chance for their other cooked dishes, but I wouldn't order the wontons again. read more

Truth be told, kung pao tofu is never on my shot list of Chinese-American favorites. I tend to think of it as overly sweet, and the mix of cooked celery and peanuts is a discordant mess that doesn't quite meld. Well, now I can see the appeal, thanks to this hole in the wall. Yes, "Asia Chinese Restaurant" the most generic and forgettable name ever, but their lunch deals make up for that with flavors you'll want to remember. The tofu is fried nicely, with a great meaty texture, and tossed in a garlicky sort of brown sauce with a genuine hint of spice. There's even a whole chili pepper in there, in case you were doubtful! What I really love about this rendition is that they use an abundance of water chestnuts too, which really connects the dots with more crunchy, crispy bites than the usual blend. If you, too, have doubts, just give it a try. For roughly $9 that includes rice, a veggie spring roll, and (non vegan) soup, you can't lose. Side note and bonus points, the fried rice has no egg, so you're good to go, my plant-based friends! read more

Gave these guys two chances . I went in and ate inside the lobby and as I finished eating I saw a rat run across the lobby under the table of another customer eating . These guys have been here forever... and the dining room hints at that (dated & always has a weird smell)... but the food has been consistently good since I started eating here nearly 20 years ago. They still have some of the better pork fried rice in the area, and service is always pretty quick. It's situated in a perfect spot for me, near work & kiddo's school, so with simple service & dependable taste, we'll be back some more! I decided to try Asia for lunch since it is located so close to my office. I am always looking for a good Asian restaurant and it had been a while since I had been here so I decided to give it another try. I had the beef with broccoli lunch special that comes with fried rice and egg drop soup. I placed my order on the app and the to-go order was ready when promised. I ate the meal back in my office and it was packed nicely. I was not a fan of the food. The beef had a very strange flavor like it had been cooked using a method that changed the flavor. The fried rice was nothing special and just looked like it had been sautéed in soy sauce and did not have any of the vegetables I am used to seeing in fried rice. The egg drop soup was nothing special and not edible because it had too much thickening agent in it and had a burnt flavor and very little eggs. I will not be returning here again based on this experience at this price point. read more

Ordered Grubhub, garlic shrimp with crab Rangoon and hot and sour soup. The rangoons were crisp and flavorful, the soup thick and tasty with tender pieces of tofu. Sadly, the entree was too small for a dinner portion. The takeout box was half rice, rather than full with rice in a separate small box. The food was good, but I usually get several servings and will barely get 2. Good sides, but small entree knocks the rating down. I'd be curious to compare lunch and dinner, but probably won't order again. However, even with Grubhub upcharge, the entree was affordable at $12, so I guess you get what you pay for. Staff was very nice and the food came out fast! My server was Abigail and she was really sweet and attentive. They have a great menu variety and the food was really good. Hard to find but very worth the effort. It is a small quiet place. Service was very good. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. Our appetizers came out very fast and my wife was only half way through her egg roll when the crab Rangoon came out. Everything was hot and fresh. We both decided on the pad Thai combo with beef chicken and shrimp. It also came out really fast. The food was delicious and so much of it we each took enough leftovers to have dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow. I highly recommend this restaurant. I wish had taken pictures of it. For the price - 5 stars. Food is exactly what good (not upscale) Chinese is food should taste like. Large selection of classic Chinese dishes with a few Thai and Vietnamese dishes thrown in.
