In buffets often people scoop up the juice and the remaining meat and vegetables get dry. A lady server was going around with a pot adding more juice/gravy to dishes that needed it. Buffets are mostly varying degrees of mediocre, but some are terrible. I came here for an early dinner one night. As a buffet connoisseur, I know to make adjustments to my expectations. Outside of Vegas, buffets typically aren't great, and that's okay. Asia Grill and Buffet has a fairly standard selection of hot and cold items on the buffet. There's an average selection of sushi and a below average hibachi/Mongolian grill. Despite its limited selection, the Mongolian grill was the best part of the buffet. Sadly, there was nothing else good about the experience. All of the food was disgusting. It was very clear that the food had been sitting on the buffet for many hours. I probably had the misfortune of visiting during an uncharacteristically slow day. Still, I visited at around 5:30 PM, not 3:30 PM! It's very reasonable to expect fresh food at that time. There's a lot of good Asian buffets in the area. $10 is probably the average price for these buffets, so that's no excuse. With its 3.5 star average, I expected Asia Grill and Buffet to be decent. It's easy to find, and a great place to grab a quick bite before hopping onto the highway. Service: The service varies. At the buffet area, the food are not refilled as quickly as I wanted. It looks like some items have been sitting there for a long time untouched. At the hibachi area, service is excellent. You can customize your dish with different type of sauces. Decor: Decor looks outdated and old. For $10, this is really not too bad. Food choices: There are a huge buffet options, ranging from sushi, soup, steamed fish, ribs, dumplings to cooked vegetables. The food quality is just "meh"... Looks like they have been sitting there for a long time. The tastes are alright. The sushi fish looks like poorer quality fish. Their sushi fish color doesn't look very fresh. I ended up avoiding it. I love the hibachi choices. I ended up filling my plate with bean sprouts, broccoli, eggs, shrimps and steak. My dish is cooked with teriyaki sauce. My steak is a bit too overcooked. I basically had a hard time chewing the meat apart!! ( I need stronger teeth, I guess.) After reading some of the ridiculous reviews this place has, I found it necessary to write a quick one. I love this place. The sushi is fresh. It's not some crap you'd find at a hole in the wall buffet covered in Saran Wrap. There's "hibachi" where you can choose raw ingredients and have them cooked in front of you. The buffet line is pretty decent. Don't expect it to be super high quality food. ITS A BUFFET!!! It's supposed to be cheap. You want high quality Chinese food? My family and I decided to take our father here for Father's Day because we had heard good things about it. From the moment I entered the premises I asked if I could have a table for five this man looked at me and told me "so you're clear we close in an hour" as rude as possible.. I said okay and proceeded to bring my family in because it's a buffet it's not like anyone has to serve us. They have ribs there which my family did not eat much of but from the ones that they DID eat we decided to Ziploc bag the bones for our dog. At the end of our meal this man (who's name I did not get) comes up to us accusing us of stealing food and DEMANDING we open our purses. I immediately stepped in and said if there is an issue you have with people that is not the way you speak to them, he tried to continue to argue with me and said he was going to call the cops although we had paid for our food because we're not allowed to take food home. In technicalities I replied with "these are BONES there is no meat, therefore not consumable."Long story short, even other waitresses around apologized for his radically unprofessional behavior. I understand if you cannot take "food" to go from a buffet, but to openly harass and accuse your customers is another level of insanity especially when it's all been PAID for. Wow. Unimpressed. Most of the buffet dishes are the same items you will see elsewhere, only done with less flair and flavor. Egg rolls and dumplings were just not good. General Tso's chicken was way too sweet and soggy, not enough dried peppers. Overall a disappointing experience. Only reason I stopped in was it was on my way and I only had a short time for lunch. The sushi was definitely not fresh and I can almost guarantee the temperatures they need to stay at aren't right. The fish has a terrible taste that seems to come when it's too warm. The orange chicken and sesame chicken were what I spit out. Don't try them if you've ever actually had good Chinese before. I'd rather food court orange chicken or sesame over this. Thought we'd try this place since Ive seen it a few times. Dont normally go to these kinds of hibachi buffets, but thought we'd give it a go. Went with 2 other people. We tried the hibachi and for my guest they mixed other meats in his food that he doesn't eat. We told them to make sure to keep it separate, but apparently he didn't listen and mixed the meat. My guest, who requested we try this place stopped eating and obviously won't be trying other places like this, thankfully. Then the buffet was very bland. 2 of the entrees were finished, we asked the lady when it will replaced, she just looked at us mad and left. They brought those entrees out when we were taking sweets. Sushi was very dry and stale. Finally, the food was very bland and horrible. One entree was mixed with the one in next to it and nobody cared to take care of it. If you go to buffets and secretly love the Crab Rangoon or dumplings, this is your place! The Rangoon have more cheese filling than I've ever seen before, and the dumplings are similarly stuffed. The hot and sour soup was wonderful, though I wouldn't complain if it had just a little more sour, it was obviously higher quality than what I get at most buffets. The orange chicken was wonderfully flavored, that was a treat. Overall, the buffet had wonderful variety. Those giving it low reviews just need to get their expectations locked in, I feel. Don't go to a large buffet when it's closing time if you expect fresh food, go when it opens or when there is a crowd and food is turning over quickly! 7 large islands, not including the sushi or hibachi area, that's a lot of food cost sitting out there. This review is really geared towards the hibachi section of the restaurant. I'm allergic to shellfish, so when all of the "pick your own plate" hibachi lines have shrimp on the menu, of course customers pile it on their plates. Unlike other restaurants, the chef here put my contents off to a corner, making sure to scrape it clean first, and then used extra cookware for me, just to keep any of the shrimp juice away. The actual buffet itself is clean, and stacked with your common items (orange chicken, spring rolls random slices of pizza, etc, etc), but again, this review was more about the customer service in the hibachi area than anything else, and Grand Slam did right by me on my visit. The sushi was good. The service is excellent. I've never had better service ever at any Asian buffet. But unfortunately I cannot do that here, the price is right for a buffet for under 10.00 but the food is not that great.
