It's not authentic Japanese, it's an interpretation of Japanese by Chinese workers and Cooks. Also, Chinese service isn't great and the waiter here isn't attentive and a bit too casual for my taste. The food itself is just acceptable, and for the price not great. The atmosphere also still is pretty weak, and the restaurant is small. It's sort of almost like a hole on the wall. On the West Coast, I've eaten at over 30 authentic Japanese restaurants, and for those of you who aren't Japanese restaurant or sushi aficionados... This food is probably fine. If you know we're good, Japanese food is, don't come here and frankly you may need to drive to Boston to get it.

I ordered the fried shrimp, but it looked and tasted like processed tempura shrimp rather than fresh, hand-breaded shrimp. I also ordered a vegetable roll, which I did not enjoy. When I politely expressed my concerns to the waiter, he seemed surprised and had to get the manager. Instead of addressing my concerns professionally, the manager appeared frustrated that I was dissatisfied with both items. He acknowledged that other customers had also complained about the fried shrimp but said no one had complained about the vegetable roll. He then suggested that, in the future, I should order an appetizer first to see if I liked the food before ordering a meal so that food would not be wasted. I found that response unhelpful and dismissive. A restaurant should be receptive to customer feedback and strive to resolve concerns in a courteous and professional manner. Based on my experience, both the food and the customer service were disappointing, and I do not plan to return.
