Don't let the look of this place fool you, this place has terrific Chinese (american) food. Today was my first visit, so we tried several items from the menu. The fried dumplings are top notch. General chicken was good. Egg rolls were the best I have had in NH. Beef and snow peas was pretty awesome too. Staff was friendly. The chicken fingers were just right, and the lo mien was delicious. The crab Rangoon was a bit sweet on the outside like it was sprinkled with sugar. Not my preference. The restraint smelt a bit like cigarette of stale cigarette as if someone was smoking at the back door and it drifted in. Otherwise I think the food I had was good. Perfect Chinese-American take-out place. We ate inside the restaurant. Very basic and clean. Absolutely delicious food. We got 2 lunch specials: General Tso's chicken with pork fried rice and an egg roll $9.50 ,and shrimp chow mein with crab Rangoon. $9.25. Wonderful flavors and large portion-enough for two lunches! Grabbed some takeout here on a whim and it was pretty good actually. I got the General Gau combo with pork fried rice and a side of steamed dumplings. The chicken was perfectly crisp with just the right amount of sweet and heat. I would not get the pork fried rice again as I found it oddly flavored. Stick to white rice. The dumplings were tasty but I liked the filling more than the wrapper which was a bit gummy instead of soft. Jade Garden just opened in Hooksett, located in the RK Plaza (Kmart & Applebee's). I picked up a takeout menu, which looks very similar to the China Jade menu in Epping, where I had a disappointing meal over the summer. Jade Garden offers the traditional Chinese dishes plus 19 lunch combination platters ($5.50-$5.75) and dinner combination platters ($7.95-$8.25), served daily. This takeout style restaurant has an open kitchen behind the counter, Coke cooler, and seating for up to 30 people. I decided to give Jade Garden a try for lunch. I ordered the Baby Shrimp in Garlic Sauce ($5.75 plus tax) served with pork fried rice and one appetizer (I chose chicken teriyaki). The food was ready in 5 minutes. The food was pretty decent. The dish had mixed vegetables & shrimp in a sweet and spicy sauce served with soy sauce covered pork fried rice. I did enjoy the 2 chicken teriyaki sticks, which were chargrilled and tangy on the outside, but a bit dry and chewy inside. From the small samplings of things I've had, and what friends have told me, I say this place is way above average in food quality and friendly service. It's geared more for take out, and as this road is major artery out of town, that's smart marketing. Actually, it is in between 2 major roads, rt 3 and the Bypass 28. Call ahead, jump into Kmart plaza on your way home, and grab the goodies! The best dollar store in the state is right next door(Dollar Tree), as is a state liquor store - two more reasons to stop! There are some tables for people eat in house, but I get the impression most of their business is take out. It is VERY clean, and I like the exposed kitchen. The woman who is usually behind the counter is right on top of things, and very friendly and grateful. The place gets one star just for her! The usual luncheon combo platters average $5.75, and are excellent. The vegetables are fresh. Their fried rice in these is kind of light, and much better than what you normally get. The count is good. This menu is your usual, family friendly Chinese items we all grew up on, and it doesn't pretend to be anything else. No mystery, just fast, clean, reasonably priced, and very good. I love their hot and sour soup. It is without question, the best I've ever had. And the small size, for $2.00, is huge, and packed with goodies! If you have a cold or the flu, a blast of this stuff will tune you right up! And they make each batch fresh - another benefit of the open kitchen, you see it is freshly made. Of course, hot and sour soup is not for everyone - I love spicy food but a lot of people don't. I also tried the chicken and rice soup, and it was excellent also. This is just a great soup, but it did need my usual overdose of salt and pepper! I need to sample more things to expand my review, but all the early indicators are very good. I've never had a problem with Jade Garden. Their food is fairly priced, generously portioned, and fresh. The staff is friendly and the place looks clean-- always. Also, they are and have always been lightning quick. A pickup is typically ready in 15-20 minutes. Unlike other places nearby, they clearly change their frying oil regularly and keep everything FRESH. I've been here 50+ times. It's my absolute local go-to for Chinese takeout! read more

When I moved back to NH, I thought that I was leaving good Chinese food behind. Then I found Jade Garden. This place is better that ANYTHING back home! Upon entering on my 1st visit, I saw a small woman hand folding dumplings. Hand folding!!! No SYSCO bullshit here folks. I have yet to have anything even subpar from here. It is clean, speedy and super fresh. The Peking raviolis are out of this world. Great crab rangoons and lo mein. The Gen Tsaos is fantastic, especially when you ask for extra spice. The wonton soup is super yums. Lots of wontons in a luscious chicken broth. Haven't tried the hot and sour soup yet, but I can only assume that it is just as tasty as everything else. There is good Chinese food in New Hampshire, and Jade Garden is the place to get it. read more

New management , the place is clean, cafeteria decor. A lot of takeout. Not much to look at. What I found about this place was the food. I asked for something that was not on the menu and the cashier said " yes we can make that". If you like hot and spicy Szechuan "MaPo Tofu with beef" this place is worth the drive. Most Chinese restaurants don't make this stuff. It was by far the most delightfully delicious MaPo I've ever had. Also good at the famous KowLoon in Saugus Ma. The one star is for the beef teriyaki. Not the flavor or the way it was cooked. The quantity. Inflation comes in two forms. One the dilution of currency hence the dollar buys less due to the loss in value of the currency. Secondly, the amount of food. A decreased amt of food for the same price or more. In this case the price is the same but the qty of the beef was "literally astounding small." Seriously, it looked exactly, like a regular 1/2" thk. pc of teriyaki cut in 1/2 right up the middle. It was so thin and short you couldn't put the wood stick through and not see it. Never again will I order it. It was 1/2 the qty of any time I've ever bought it. When we moved from East Hampstead, where we ate at Osaka almost every week, we knew we needed to find a new Chinese restaurant that would satisfy our Asian cuisine needs - and Jade Garden is amazing! I try something new each time and have yet to be disappointed. The staff are friendly and the service is very fast. They get our order right every time and even make sure not to put any mushrooms when we ask :-) They don't fill their crab Rangoon quite as well as Osaka, but they are crispy and I order a large every time (to share with my husband of course ). My buddy and me stop in here after visiting the local gun stores in the area while up from MA. The food is always hot and fresh, affordable, and delicious. I recently got the beef Mei Fun instead of the usual combination plate. That is now my favorite dish. Thin noodles combined with veggies, egg, scallions and beef. The beef, some of it was chewy and hard but I should know better not to get beef dishes in Chinese restaurants because that's how they are. Except the Teriyaki Beef sticks. Next time I'll get the chicken or shrimp Mei Fun or maybe try the Singapore one. The appetizers are also tasty except for the egg rolls which I found to be a tad on the greasy side. But they're like sponges anyway, so what do you expect? They have a pot of free tea also which is nice. If you're in the area and want some good Chinese but don't want to deal with waiters and a long wait time, I recommend this place. read more

My husband found this msg free Chinese place when I was pregnant and driving him crazy. We were a little apprehensive at first but this place is amazing. The prices are about the normal, however the serving sizes are huge. We normally order a pupu for 3 which feeds all four of us and leftovers. only downsides we have noticed is no delivery, and on holidays they do not serve any combination plates, including pupu platters. read more

This place is so-so just opened in the K-mart plaza across from the merchants car lot. I think all the Asian restaurants taste the same in this area i have tasted nothing exceptional in this neck of the woods. If i could take certain items of the menus from food places up here and merge them i think I'd be good! Let me start off by saying that good Chinese takeout is becoming increasingly difficult to find in central New Hampshire! We ordered a Pu Pu for two with pork fried rice and lobster sauce. The lobster sauce, which resembled used motor oil with peas floating in it, had almost no meat in it and left an unpleasant, bitter aftertaste! The chicken wings were tiny, burnt and otherwise disappointing! The beef teriyaki was also unusually small and lacked any flavor whatsoever. The rest of the food ranged from mediocre to terrible!
