My family and I go here often, and from way across town! This is a full time buffet, as others have said, but it has recently been remodeled, and the buffet expanded. It was always good - now it's very good! The variety of sushi is remarkable and well done IF you get there at dinner time. Arrive late, and you won't find so much. But, everything else on the buffet will still be there. The owner has always known to put out a little bit of food at a time so what you get is fresh and hot. Try the spicy Malaysian (not Thai) chicken. There are several spicy dishes, which is not common among Chinese buffets. Salads, real ice cream, and a real variety of Chinese food! The owner's family takes great care of you - but some of the recently added wait staff are pretty lackadaisical. Kids! Maybe they'll see this and stand up straight and do their job! As a recent reviewer mentioned, the restaurant has been renovated and actually expanded into a vacant space next door. The decor is much more classy but the prices are still reasonable. As I was told, it's still the same ownership. They just upgraded the appearance and a few of the offerings. Regulars will notice a few things that remained including the huge back lit frame with a mountain landscape. In addition to the improved ambiance, they have added a large table service staff. I was greeted by a hostess who led me to a table. You no longer pay upfront but at the end when you get your check. The wait staff are relatively unobtrusive and they do a good job making sure your drink is filled. Before, you would just fill your own drinks. So, you might have to add a couple bucks in tip to your total cost but it's worth it. The biggest difference is at the back of the buffet area where a Mongolian style grill and sushi station have been added. You can plate all the ingredients including meat and/or veggies with chow mein noodles onto a plate for the cook to stir fry for you. I guess it helps them compete with other Mongolian grills that seem to be trending in the area. They also added a sushi station and a staff member that continually makes fresh rolls. Previously, they only had one type of basic roll on the cold buffet station. Now, there is a variety to choose from including a tempura deep fried roll and more. It fine if your point of reference is buffet sushi. But if you want really good sushi, I'd recommend going to a different place. From what I could tell, most of the hot buffet items are still the same and of high quality. No real changes here. That's a good thing because as noted by others, they are good about keeping fresh items out there. Whereas some places make a huge batch that sits all through lunch or dinner, this place has figured out how to make the right amount and rotate constantly. Contrary to someone else's experience, I enjoy the soups including hot and sour and the egg drop. There is something about the fried chicken wings that is amazing. I think there is a ginger and/or mustard coating under the breading that makes them fantastic. I am usually too full to visit the dessert station but it seems this might be one place they have expanded. Can't be completely sure because I usually have to skip dessert so that I can walk myself out. But the biggest addition here is the hand dipped ice creams (I think they used to have soft serve). I thought I noticed it might even be local (Mooville?). Overall, I would say this is one of the better Chinese buffets I've been, too. I have been many times and the reason I don't go more often is only limited by my effort to watch my waistline. So, as a buffet, I give it 5 stars. I'm not sure I agree with the 3 stars given by others who only had complimentary things to say (scratching my head). It's also too bad that someone went during renovation to find the restaurant temporarily closed and left a 1 star hurting the overall rating. read more

Ate here several times when in East Lansing. Hot, fresh. Several sushi varieties and good seaweed salad. Hubby had hibachi. Cooked the plate well. Try the Korean Beef. It's good-ribeye in sweet brown sauce. Reasonable pricing. read more

Love it here, and always make a return when I come home to visit from college. The owner is extremely nice and the food is always fresh. And if it's not, you can always go ask and they will make it new. I love the hibachi grill and their new sauces! Dinner is a little more on the expensive side because they ad seafood dishes. No one in our family eats seafood, so we usually stick to lunch, about $8 per person. read more

An insult to the mouth and stomach. Good for those who dont care about either, and want to feel full! There might be variety, but the food is just bland. If you care about the art of cuisine and high quality food, then this is not the place for you, or for that matter, any buffet place in Okemos! it's a good place to eat since the price is cheap for a decent meal. it won't blow you away but everything tastes very good.

The best place in town for a big buffet on weekdays. They have three big rows of buffet items, consisting of a few dozen entrees, a salad bar, desserts, etc. Most of the food is quite good, although not of the quality you would expect from a sit-down restaurant. The fried rice, sadly, is not worth trying. Soft drinks are free with the buffet, which is cheap for dinner and even cheaper for lunch. The waiters are nice and quick to clear empty plates. iam confused about my own review....about a year ago id say thyis is by far the best chinese buffet ive eve bean to but its going down hill this past yea....to sushi is very good still and hasnt changed ...but the food at the buffet is getting bad....i use to drive avross town for the seafood delight but it taste way off now ... my father came from out of tow and the spare ribs were spoiled....i will say this though though they have conquered and people that come to eat crab legs on sunday.....they were deep fried and the shell wouldnt snap ...and couldnt pull the meat out...had to scrape....i tapped out after the ONE crab leg read more

One of best Chinese buffets I have ever eaten in. The food is good, The help friendy and the price is definitly right. It is all help yourself including a choice of drinks (all you want) and in addition to other deserts soft ice cream with toppings (all you want). I eat here on the average of once every two weeks. I have to disagree with all the other reviewers. This was some of the worst buffet food/ Chinese food I've ever had. The price is fantastic and even includes drinks, but the food was just bad. The chicken was all dry in the various dishes, the steamed rice had a funny flavor, and even the crab Rangoon was undercooked. Seriously, don't waste your time here. read more

My family are regulars at this restaurant. We visit often and the owner knows this. So when we visited and brought our extended family for a party after my niece's baptism, we were shocked at the way we were treated. First off, our waitress was quite grumpy and had no qualms with showing it. She brought by an armful of cokes and plopped them down on a table and almost shouted "who ordered the coke?!" Now I know that we had a big group (32) but there are nicer ways to do that than pushing aside a customer who is eating and shouting at everyone else. A few minutes later, someone returned from the bathroom and asked about their coke and and she snapped at them for not responding earlier. The service was inconsistent. One time, she literally pulled the plate as someone was taking their last bite. Sometimes, plates piled up, but that wasn't the waitress's fault - the management should have had another person helping her. The food was average - typical buffet food, same as every other time. The truly horrendous part was when she brought the bill. She tried to charge us for 36 people, and then accused us of lying to her and said that people left and we weren't counting them. This was not true. We told her that one dad took his 3 year old outside because the 3 year old was acting up, but we had already included him in out count. She counted no less than four times before she admitted she was wrong. Also, she charged us for extra pops. We didn't argue this with her because the last charge was what really blew my mind. It's a normal practice to charge gratuity for big groups, and we know and wouldn't have been surprised by this. However, they threw a thirty six dollar charge in and didn't list it as gratuity but as another charge. Just in the middle of the per persons and the drinks. There was no verbal or written notice of this charge and that was the reason we were upset about it. It was a shady practice and to just add it to the itemized list makes it seem like we needed to tip again. It wasn't until I asked about it that they said it was gratuity. When I asked the owner about it, she first blamed it on the waitress, and then got mad at us about it. She told us to go talk to the manager, but when we did, she stood in the back an muttered in a different language the entire time. You can only imagine as I did what she was saying. I explained to the manager that we weren't opposed to paying a tip. Like I said, we come here all the time l. We have never not left a good tip. He just blew it off and said that it was standard practice. I'm sorry, when did it become standard to be deceitful? Oh did I mention when I called and ask if big groups got a discount, I was told 5%, but when I asked about it at the restaurant, they said no. I get it if you can't give a discount, but if you say you're going to do something, you should do it. The manager than said well you ate you have to pay. I paid it just to be done with it but I do not agree with the way they handled things. To lie to, deceive, and then argue with a customer is not good business, especially when it is a returning loyal customer. I'm sure we will be back, but only because my mom loves those little crawfish. But it will not be for a very long time. read more

i don't know why it is only 3.5 stars. this is my favorite Chinese buffet restaurant in town so far. a lot choices and the price is good too
