The food was cold and there was hair in the Mac n cheese. I do not recommend you coming here

I'm Vietnamese, I'm Asian Tday is the first time I go to Buffet with my siblings. You guys should try because the food really awesome. The waiters take good care of us, they will take away your dishes as soon as you eat them clean to make sure your dining area is really clean. When you get inside they will ask you what water to drink and get them for you Dishes are added quickly and hotly Fruits, vegetables healthy, ice creams, cakes, that things we hadn't tried yet because time was up :(( We'll come back

I really wanted to like this place, because its the Asian buffet in town. The prices have gone up since the last Yelp review, I have updated them in the picture. Other reviews also mentioned crab legs. I went on a Saturday night, and there were no crab legs. The only 'steak' available was strips of sliced beef you could get in the hibachi, which I do not consider to be steak. As far as the sushi, which I was looking forward to, they had a whopping two varieties to choose from on a busy Saturday night. It was actually the same roll but one had extra fake crab mayo topping on the top. No raw rolls were available. Still, I did try a wide variety of the food. Honestly, the hibachi was the only thing that tasted even remotely close to 'good'. It still wasn't good, but at least tasted fresh. I was really hoping to find a go to Asian buffet in Rochester, but cannot bring myself to come back here.

    My hibachi creation.

Updating my review because I went for Dinner the second time.( First time was lunch) and I will say it was by far better. The food in general just tasted better. There is also a few things they have at dinner that they do not have at lunch. Probably my most favorite is that they have already prepared steaks. They serve them at the hibachi grill. They are already cooked, and the guy working the hibachi station will just heat them up for you. It's a fairly decent size steak too..about a 6oz portion. I got two of them. I am on a low carb diet so I was happy they had steaks included with the dinner buffet. There was also a good amount of things I found on the buffet that allowed me to stay true to my diet. As my previous review stated, the waiters were all attentive and made sure my drink stayed full. Everything looked extremely fresh from the hot buffet items to the cold ones like the fruits/deserts. Once again the items on the raw hibachi station looked well maintained, fresh, chilled. Still the best hibachi I have seen at a Chinese buffet. I am a frequent flyer to Chinese buffets. I have been to all of them in Rochester and this is by far the best one. Beating out my previous favorite for the last 15+ years now, the original "China buffet". Other Chinese buffets take notice! You better step your game up or you will be losing more business to Asian Buffet.

Fresh broccoli, veggie sushi rolls, spring roll, egg roll, fried donut, chicken wing, potstickers.

We have been here a few times in the past and, in my opinion, they are staying consistent. As far as Greece area Chinese buffets, I think this place is the top. Overall, fairly clean with very friendly staff and a large seating area. I would say that the most notable aspects of this place are the very large dessert selection (simple options like cookies, ice cream, and little squares of cake) and large variety of meat and seafood dishes. For example, today I tried a Hong Kong style of cut beef. Actually quite good! I also tried some kind of spicy chicken that was very good and they regularly have large bbq ribs. I also really enjoy their fresh mixed vegetables, hibachi fried rice, veggie sushi rolls, crispy fried cream cheese wontons, and lemon pepper fried chicken wings. What keeps me from giving five-stars is that some of my favorite dishes are not well done: the egg rolls are mushy, the lo mein noodles are thin and lacking in flavor, and the fried sugar donuts are not very sugary and overly fried. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will switch these recipes up in the future.

Ask the Community - Asian Buffet

Is there a family / kids night?

    Yes!

How much do they charge for lunch /dinner per person and is it all you can eat?

6.99 for lunch 11.99 for dinner. Drink not included. It is all you can eat. If you come during lunch and eat through dinner they will charge you for dinner if you eat any of the items that are marked "dinner only"

    How's the sea food?

The steamed seafood was pretty good! Clams, Crawfish, Shrimp etc. (I wasn't there on a day with crab legs but those are hard to mess up.) The seafood "bakes" and stuffed shrimp etc. didn't look that great so I avoided them.

The spot has that old-school Chinese takeout vibe: simple, clean, and focused on flavor, not flash. --- What I Ordered: General Tso's Chicken Shrimp Lo Mein Crab Rangoons Egg Roll Steamed Dumplings --- General Tso's Chicken: Sweet, spicy, and crispy - exactly how it should be. The sauce had a good kick without overpowering the flavor. Chicken was tender inside with that golden crunch. Easily one of the best in the area. Shrimp Lo Mein: Noodles were cooked just right - not too greasy, not too dry. Shrimp was fresh and had good bite. Could use a little more garlic or soy for depth, but still solid. Crab Rangoons: Creamy, crunchy, and packed with flavor. These were a hit. You get that satisfying crunch with the creamy crab filling - not overly sweet like some spots do. Steamed Dumplings: Soft and juicy with a flavorful pork filling. Dipping sauce was on point. Not doughy, just right. Egg Roll: Golden and crispy with a nice balance of cabbage and pork inside. Great with the duck sauce. --- Pros: Big portions, great value Fast service Hits all the nostalgic Chinese takeout cravings Clean and well-packaged Cons: Lo mein could use a little more flavor Limited seating (best for takeout) --- Final Verdict (8.9/10): New Number One Chinese Restaurant is bringing the heat. Classic Chinese-American dishes done right. If you're craving comfort food that hits every time, this place delivers - literally and figuratively. So! Out of everything i ordered (see pics) I didn't try the soup dumpling but my kiddo (who are the whole steamer) said it was good. Everything was hot and delicious and taste like NYC dim sum (iykyk) except -the turnip cake (too oily and mushy) - fried dough noodle (too much wrapping, dough not fresh and crispy enough) - egg tarts (new and only available on weekends according to their menu - I am a BIG egg tarts fan and unfortunately these were disappointing: crust was fine but filling was baked eggs and not the classic flan-like type of an egg tarts). 3-4 other families came in for dim sum, it was more lively and they turned on low classical music so lovelier ambiance than when we first walked in. Wait staff was very friendly and polite. Only negative thing were the sticky plastic spoons they gave to share the congee bowl. After recovering from a recent stomach bug I have to be super critical of dining utensils so gotta ding a star off for that. Prices were more expensive than normal for dim sum but we were expected that - just glad they didn't decrease the quantity like some places! All in all, we would come back again for dim sum :)

Now, when I was going to RIT (back in the day), I remember this being a Might Taco... but I'm quite delighted to see it as an OG Dumpling House location too! (Though it's probably a good thing that it wasn't a dumpling house when I was in college, because those freshman 15 would have been aaaaaaaaaall because of the soup dumplings.) You can order takeout or sit in the restaurant. Our getting offered a table when we first got there was a bit discombobulated, but we were asked after a few minutes if we wanted to sit or takeout and we confirmed we wanted to eat in the restaurant. After another minute or two, we were given our table. Because of the time waiting for our table, we had already decided on what we wanted to eat and drink... so we were able to order pretty quickly. We ordered the xiao long bao, of course, as well as steamed pork bao, and then fried green beans, fried calamari, and shumai to share. The items came out quickly enough... but as we were making our way through the plates, I was a bit surprised that our server wasn't also taking away plates that we'd finished. In most dim sum-type restaurants I've visited, it's common for the server to take finished plates away throughout the service to ensure you have room on the table for anything else that might be coming out. Since the tables in this location are perhaps a bit on the smaller side, we soon found ourselves running out of enough space to really spread out the plates to share. The soup dumplings are good... though they perhaps didn't have broth that was quite as flavorful as I'd been hoping for. I'm glad we visited, as OG Dumpling House has been on my list to try for quite a while. Now that the craving is appeased though, I'll be happy to try another one of Rochester's Chinese or dim sum-style restaurant locations.
