I found this restaurant after a quick search of hot pot options in Edmonton and decided to give this restaurant a visit. We showed up at 8 pm on a weekday and the restaurant was still very busy. It is a good sign that this restaurant is popular. We were seated right away and our 2 hour time limit started. We placed an order of soup based and meat options before heading out to the sauce bar and checking out other items at the buffet. The food selection was quite impressive from the meat balls, cooked food, innards, veggies, seafood, noodles to desserts. It was hard to decide what to eat. The sauce bar was also quite extensive there are endless combinations. Service was surprisingly decent for an Asian restaurant. Staff stopped by regular to clear dirty plates and refill soup broth. They even dropped off extra plates of beef slices and wontons when we asked. This is quite an experience in deliciousness!!! Our Canadian relatives wanted us to experience dining at this favorite restaurant of theirs where one can watch the cooks make the noodles fresh! Lots of fun, especially if you have kids with you. They stay put (instead of running around restlessly), mesmerized by the noodle-making demonstration. A little challenging to find even with Google Maps. Has a large parking lot though. We arrived at 5:30 on a Sunday and restaurant was only 60% full. I would have loved to be closer to the buffet so I didn't have to walk too far and past so many people to refill. The broth choices were unique and very tame so you could season it yourself with the sauces buffet. Sauce buffet included sesame paste, soya sauce, XO sauce, sesame seeds, peanut sauce, oils, pepper, salt, and a dozen more. Food buffet included vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, butternut squash, leafy greens), starch (noodles, lotus root, potato, etc) meat balls (fish, beef, pork, shrimp), raw seafood (shrimp, oyster, fish). As well they had ready to eat items - Chinese donut, bun, spring roll, dry rib. Shaved meats were ordered off the menu (but included in buffet price) all the meats were fantastic, but I did find the pork too fatty. Desserts included ice cream, mango jelly, coconut jelly, orange slices, melon slices, 3 cakes (chocolate, orange, tiramisu). Staff came to refill our pots with hot water midmeal and refill our water glasses so we never ran out. Would have been nice if they explained it to us when we arrived as it had been a while since we have been and first time for my mother. Bathroom was clean and spacious. They had sanitizer at the front door and at the spice buffet but I would have liked one on the table or just more in general as the serving tongs (buffet is self-serve) were touched by everyone. $34/person which is enough but well worth the price if you're celebrating or just for the experience. read more

This is one of my top favourite hot pot places in Edmonton. It is more pricey but you get a significantly larger selection of items to choose from compared to other hot pot places. For my most recent visit for dinner, I called a week in advance to make a reservation for 11 people. I even called a second time to confirm. However when we arrived, they couldn't find our reservation. This was very disappointing since we had a large group and didn't want to scramble to find another restaurant to fit our group. It turns out they record their reservations by hand on this notebook. The page had markings everywhere and looked very disorganized. Luckily there was another group that was double booked at that time so we took their table after waiting 10 minutes. Food here is delicious though! You have a choice of having your own individual pot or sharing a huge pot in the center. To order the main meat, you will have to fill a form to choose how much you want. All the other items are buffet style so you can take as much veggies, seafood, fish balls, dessert, noodles etc. as your heart desires. They also have a large variety of sauces to choose from. The inside of the place is clean and modern. They also charge an automatic 15% gratuity for large group reservations. You will not be disappointed with the food if you come here. read more

OMG! I have found my new favourite place for Hot Pot. I was blown away at the amount of selection of different veggies, proteins, and noodles that were available to try! All we had to do was order our broth at the table, (we also opted for a few extra proteins, but that was before we went up to the buffet part) and everything else was self serve. But if you do miss it, you probably won't be disappointed as you'll end up at Tony Roma's. From the outside, this restaurant isn't anything special. But from the inside. It's absolutely decked out. Very fancy lighting fixtures, feature walls and the raised ceiling heights make the space feel bigger. Let's get one thing straight, this ain't your average hotpot where you sit down and get served mystery meat only to realize serval hours later that you have food poisoning. This is a full on buffet. Once seated, we got to choose our own individual pot-broths and away we go. The only thing you have to order is your meats. After that, all of the extra dumplings and noodles and such we're available at the buffet. This place has an extensive buffet. Everything you're looking for. Shrimp balls, udon noodles and spicy marinated pigs ear.... yum-- don't hate unless you try. All in all this place is dope. Go check it out but don't forget your wallet cause it's damn pricey. Usually get the Hand-Pulled Noodles and try and get the spiciest broth. For meat I get a couple beef, and one seafood. The quality of the beef here is really good and when dipped into your personalized sauce, it's even better. They also offer a $32 dinner buffet for those who are really hungry but the lunch special is as much as I could handle. Came here on a busy Friday night. Waited about 10 minutes for a table. The place was packed but very large and spacious, lots of staff busy. We each ordered our own brother and picked out our items each, was very happy with how large the servings were. Our food came out promptly for how busy it was. Lucky for me she is a hot pot pro and talked me through the order process and offered me her tips on how many meats vs veggies to cook in your broth. That's right, you cook it all yourself at the table. Each table is equipt with a hob to keep that broth bubbling and a plate of raw meats and veggies are provided for you to add as often as you like. For added flavour head over to the condiment table - such a huge selection including satay sauce, fresh cilantro, so much garlic and the biggest soy sauce dispenser I have ever seen. As for the aesthetics, outside and inside is like night and day. Outside is pretty drab, it's hard to find the door, my uber took me to the back of the building. It's a little confusing. They need some signage and a lick of paint. But inside is very clean, quite fancy with nice lighting and furniture. There is a huge buffet space perfect for parties. The selection of food was great, it had everything that you would want. Plus, everything tasted pretty fresh (as you can get in Edmonton). You can grab as much or as little as you want, without guessing what the food would look like/how big each piece would be. The only thing you would have to check on the paper they give you is the type of broth, what kind of meat, and any kind of specialty drink. This includes soda. What I enjoyed the most about Chinese hot pot buffet was the service. The staff were friendly, and always constantly filling up our water, broth and if we needed help with anything. I have been here twice now. It is a convenient spot in the south for hot pot, as it is on Calgary Trail. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated, and the tables are roomie and clean. The hot pot was great! Fresh meat and veggies. All the necessary ingredients to make excellent sauces! Unfortunately, both times the consumer service was not the best. The first time I went, it was a large group. Some of my family members had never tried hot pot, so explaining how it worked was frustrating for our waitress. She seemed a bit annoyed, which was understandable. The second time, the lady who helped us was not friendly. They gave one napkin per person, and three people at our table didn't have any at all. When I asked her for extra napkins, she made an unpleasant face and walked away. It took a while for her to come back with only two napkins. When I told her we were missing one, she ignored us and walked away. She never comes back. Not sure if they had a shortage of napkins that day but it was awkward. I don't think I will be back here. There's a few hot pot places popping up in Edmonton, THANK GOD! I love hot pot hehe. This hot pot took over where Bonanza buffet used to be. It's tucked behind an optometry place so it's a little hard to see, BUT they have a big billboard saying where they are. Usually my best friend and I go to a different hot pot place which has a $15 dollar deal after 10pm for 5 items. We came here since i've been here once before for a birthday dinner. They have the same deal as other hot pot places with a 5 for $15 after a certain time. Here it starts at 9:30! I like it better here since it's a much cleaner environment and the special doesn't start as late as 10. The staff here are all very friendly, and are actually very attentive. You wouldn't think that it was Bonanza before they moved into the building since it's nicely decorated inside. For the $15 dollar deal you get a choice of one starch -- a bath of noodles or steamed rice. If you aren't one for starches and want all meat or veggies, you can order 5 instead of just 4 and one starch! They have a lot of choices for veggies and meat/seafood. They also have extras that you can purchase for a few extra dollars. I love the fried plain buns that come with condensed milk, but it is a little more expensive here than at other hot pot places at $4.95 for 6. The portion sizes are good, the vegetables they give you are a bit more compared to other hot pot places. The satay broth they have (which i highly recommend!!) is delicious and is my favourite out of all the other places i've been to. If you like a little spice, it's delicious! Don't forget to grab some sauces to dip your proteins in, makes the food even better! (I usually mix hoisin, peanut sauce, some chilis for extra spice, and some sesame oil!) Overall, it's a good bang for your buck when you're really hungry. They do charge extra for leftovers so be careful ;) read more

This is one of my favourite places for Chinese hot pot. I go here pretty often with friends or family and it serves me very well every time -- it is usually on the top of my recommendations when someone is looking for a decent hot pot spot (excuse the rhyming) to try out. If it is your first time doing hot pot, the learning curve can be quite intimidating but bringing a friend or two who have experienced the struggle definitely helps. Personally, I love the decoration and atmosphere of this place. The high-ceilings and modern furnishing is super inviting. It is busy during the nighttime and it can be quite chaotic and loud but you can usually tune it out. The arrangements of the tables are also quite nice giving you ample space between other diners. I like the buffet setup that they have and find that it is usually nicely organized. Overall, it is quite clean which is surprising because of the large volume of customers that they usually take in. Parking can sometimes be very hard especially when it is busy. However, there is parking alternatives nearby. I love the numerous options of ingredients that they have. Desserts and cooked food is also available on top of the hot pot experience. In particular, I love the meats that they serve -- they are very nice in terms of quality. I also love the hot pot station that you are given. I always order the Sweet Buns with condensed milk -- they are super tasty and simple! They are super efficient at this location and quite kind as well. They can be very straightforward but sometimes you need to sacrifice personality with efficiency. I've been to this location when it was a western buffet, so knowing what it was before & seeing what its become is pretty neat! Parking lot is the same, pretty ample earlier in the day; then few and far between as the evening progresses. They do need to work on salting the walkway, it was a little slippery before we got to the entrance. They've really outdone themselves with decor. It's hip, modern, classy, spacious & clean. The vent system here must also be pretty darn good because the mirrors in the room we were eating in didn't fog up and i didn't feel like it was humid. I'm not sure how long ago it became a hot pot place, but there was an empty fish tank near the washrooms. Bar is also past the buffet area. High chairs & booster seats are available upon request, but it gets pretty tight to add a high chair with how the seating is. Every adult seat has its own induction cooktop. I came with a large party, so our round table had a huge cooktop in the centre in addition to the individual ones and a lazy Susan ring surrounding it for the group order of meats. I enjoyed the selection of sauces available, however, the folks I was with noted the sauces were a little more watery than other places. I also liked how organised the food layout was and how often the food was refilled. There is a small selection of fried cooked food and desserts. Attention from servers was pretty good as well, dishes were cleared from our table and broth refilled regularly. The only thing I didn't like was how large party reservations were booked back to back 5:30, 7:30, 9:30. It felt like there was a hurry to eat, pay & leave. I did enjoy the experience overall despite the cost. Prices are also pretty cheap for young children...free for my 1 year old and $4 for my 4 year old. We drive by this location everyday on the way home from work so when I realised what was going in the old bonanza I was STOKED. we stopped by twice in the last week. It is a beautiful restaurant. Very clean. It is missing the claustrophobic and almost dirty feel of most hotpot restaurants. The menu shows several soup types. The basic is free the fancier flavours are $2 extra you order sliced meats and lovely shrimp and pork dumplings from the waitress. After that you visit the beautifully laid out buffets with every vegetable you'd wish fully stocked as well as a lovely section for all those deep fried treats they always seem to be so stingy with. The price is about $34 without drinks. I'd be totally ok with this if they had an ice cream machine or something equally as fun in the dessert section but for now it's just interesting jellos and sheet cakes. The portions are big too so I always ask my husband to finish my leftovers. Had a family gathering at lunch and definitely enjoyed doing hot pot together! This place has individual pots or you can all do one pot share. They have round tables that serves around 8 people and each have their own pot, which i have not seen until now! I picked cilantro with thousand year old egg for the soup (in the soup there are two pieces of soft tofu, lots of cilantro, and one whole egg). For my 4 item I selected: feature beef (marble), Fish Tofufu (rectangular tofu with fish flavour), golden mushroom, and house-made fish mash (these were small pieces, i wish i selected fish balls instead). For my noodle I selected the hand pull noodle (which is just round noodles, i believe you could get these at super market). Overall very satisfying and delicious! If you get the hand pull noodle just remember the noodles will sucks up a lot of your broth. Near the end I did not have much soup left to finish off my food. Their sauce selection is pretty much the same as the other hot pot places, they are refilled pretty often and the bowl you put the sauce in is a decent size. Service was a bit slow today, but I think they didn't expect the place to be so busy all at once. Will come again and try out the All You Can Eat selection. read more

This is the nicest hot pot place I've been to in Edmonton. They are HUGE - plenty of room to bring your large group here. For dinners they have a massive buffet of fresh vegetables, seafood, dumplings, and other deliciousness to put in your hot pot, and you can keep going back as often as you want. They also bring steak, pork, and chicken to your table to ensure it's as fresh as possible and not sitting out getting warm. For one flat price you can absolutely stuff yourself on as much delicious hot pot as you could ever want, with a wide choice of broths to try, including vegetarian options. It's certainly not the cheapest (a little over $30 per person depending on the day and time you go) but definitely the best options for meats/veggies and great value. Next get items you want to eat such as seafood, smashed meat balls or fish, veggies, noodles etc. Make sure the soup is boiling before you start throwing things into your hot pot!
