Asian Garden is located in the little off the freeway town of Corning about 20 min south of Red Bluff. It makes a convenient stop for some Chinese food off the 5 freeway if that's what you're in the mood for. The restaurant is set up more like a fast food cafeteria serving Chinese food. Most of the food is already made cooked and in steam trays, like a buffet, except you don't serve yourself here. You pay by the box of food that they will fill for you with whatever dish you like. At least you get to see the food before you pick what to eat ... some of the trays weren't filled too well and some food looked fresher cooked than others, so pick what you want. Prices are pretty cheap, under $10 for a box stuffed full of food, and that box weighs a lot! I got the kung pow chicken, I think that's what it was, I just pointed to what I wanted and the rest of the box stuffed with noodles and fried rice. I'll say it was filling, maybe not the best Chinese fast food I ever had, but for a little town off the freeway, it's pretty good.

Combo 3: walnut shrimp, orange chicken, beef and broccoli

FOOD - Combo 3 Plate: 1 side + 3 entrees. I got half chow main and half fried rice. I definitely liked the rice better. It had more flavor. -- Orange Chicken: this was pretty decent but it didn't taste like your typical orange chicken. 3.5/5 -- Walnut Shrimp: this tasted okay. It's didn't taste authentic to me. 3/5 -- Beef & Broccoli: way more broccoli than beef but that worked out because it was the only vegetable on the plate. 3/5 - Crabmeat Cheese Wonton: 6 fried wontons. These were pretty good. 4/5 - Poke Bowl: I like how you just mark what you want on the form and they make it for you. I chose mixed greens with brown rice as a base, then topped it with spicy tuna and shrimp, crabmeat salad, avocado, seaweed salad, cucumbers, jalapeños, furikake, crispy onions, and sesame seeds with house sauce and spicy mayo. This was pretty good and very filling. 4.5/5 SERVICE: Friendly. I liked that they made some of the items to order. The walnut shrimp and orange chicken were fresh. FINAL THOUGHTS: I would come back for their poke bowl. Their Chinese food wasn't bad but not great.

I will admit that I did not like this place the first time that we went here, but after visiting more often my mind may have changed. The Chinese food is good, but not spectacular. It is freshly prepared and has a good flavor profile. The staff is incredibly friendly, polite, and efficient. The bathrooms were extremely clean and stocked. They are now offering sushi which was delicious, and theses rolls are made fresh on site.

    So so good!!

The best poke bowls ever!!! The nicest people, very clean and everything is so fresh!!! My absolute favorite place to eat!!

I gave this place a another try and it's not good Chinese, I had the mushroom chicken and kungpao chicken meal, the mushrooms dish needed more salt, the kungpao had a weird sweet taste to it and the rice and noodles are very bland. I noticed that they did add 3 sushi rolls to the menu, I got the shrimp crunch roll to try, that was good. I would only come back for that roll, I hope they add more rolls to the menu.

Mushroom chicken, mixed vegetables with tofu, chow mein and fried rice - combo plate

We stopped by here to grab some Chinese food. I went with a combo plate with 2 items. The mushroom chicken was delicious! The chicken was tender and flavorful. The mixed vegetables tasted ok. I wish there was more tofu. I also ordered the sesame balls and they are filled with red bean. The sesame balls was really good. We also ordered milk tea with Boba. It's great to finally have a place that offers milk tea in corning. Overall, I'd highly recommend if you are craving Chinese food. Food and service was great here.

That all changed when we went to Luna's after seeing it recommended on a Reddit best of Redding thread. There is obviously some serious culinary talent involved in the development of this exciting menu. My favorite thing we tried was the chicken dumpling burger. If you love dumplings and have ever greedily wished that succulent, tender filling went on forever, you will end up in the same heaven I did. Beautiful crafted patty, perfectly seared on a delicious bun with exquisite sauce. The presentation was also so adorable - it arrives in a steamer tray! My girlfriend's favorite was the pho sandwich. All the rich & nourishing toppings from iconic pho, vegetable and meat, bursting out of a banh-mi presentation. The master stroke of genius is rich and hearty pho broth to dip it in. I can't really even explain how satisfying the crunch of the sandwich is with the flavor profile of comforting pho. In addition, we both were extremely delighted with the playful and creative boba menu. I settled on the Ponyo-yo, which was a delicious little concoction of rich vanilla yogurt, peach puree, lemon popping boba served strikingly in a fishbowl glass with gummy sharks peeking out of delicious whipped cream topping. A feast for the senses! We also had a fantastic time splitting the bananas foster churro plate with beautiful strawberries and perfectly prepared bananas. If we hadn't been road tripping, we would have really enjoyed exploring the drinks menu, which was also very appealing. Maybe next time ;) oh and of course the chips & salsa were so good - love the little Korean spice profile touch on the chips. The venue also has wonderful ambience. Obviously very intentionally designed, the aesthetic is warm, inviting, and skillfully marries whimsy with comfort and charm. Pink SpongeBob in the women's restroom? HELLO? And of course you can enjoy the vintage anime playing on the big TV - I loved peeking up at Sailor Moon. The staff is also all very charming and friendly and the service was great. If you haven't given Luna's a chance, let this be your sign!! Just such an incredibly enjoyable night out, and I can't wait to visit next time we're in town. Thank you for a beautiful meal!

It's a nice indoor restaurant a little dark. But they do have a patio area as well that's lit up more. I got the butter chicken enchiladas. So good and my husband got the asada tacos, has a little kick to them. We ended the night with banana pudding dessert.... Wow now that was tasty. Glad we live far away from here because that could be dangerous!! Definitely recommend!

Jyun Kang Vegetarian - A Meal That Quietly Resets You…read more Some meals speak in flavor. This one speaks in quiet. Jyun Kang is not modern plant-based cuisine. It isn't creative, trendy, or reinvented. This is the kind of vegetarian cooking that comes from older traditions - simple, steady, and designed to calm you more than impress you. And maybe that's why the dining room is always full. White, Black, Indian, Asian - everyone sits at the same wooden tables, eating the same humble dishes with an ease that feels rare these days. The Food: Old-School, Temple-Style, and Intentionally Quiet Nothing here tries to stand out. The dishes are: * lightly seasoned * clean and balanced * tofu, vegetables, and wheat gluten prepared the way temple kitchens have done for decades * no heavy oil, no aggressive spices, no sharp flavors It's not meant to overwhelm you. It's meant to lower the noise inside you. In a strange way, the quietness is the flavor. This is the type of meal where your nervous system shifts down a gear without you realizing it. The Atmosphere: A Dining Room Wrapped in Calm Steps away from the main courtyard of the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas, the restaurant feels like an extension of the grounds themselves. Light streams in softly. People speak gently. Even the clinking of dishes feels slower, more deliberate. Eating here isn't just eating - it's entering a different pace of life. A White Peacock After Lunch After the meal, a white peacock walked across the courtyard - unhurried, soft-footed, almost unreal in how quietly it moved. White peacocks are often considered auspicious, but even without any symbolism, the moment felt grounding - a small, unexpected pause that matched the tone of the meal. Not many restaurants offer you that. The Walk Afterward Part of the experience is what happens once you step outside: * walking past tall trees * seeing peacocks on rooftops * watching families stroll through the open grounds * letting your mind cool in the same way your body just did This isn't a restaurant visit. It's a reset. Verdict: A Place That Nourishes More Than Hunger Jyun Kang serves exactly what it intends to serve: pure, old-style temple vegetarian food, quietly and consistently. It won't dazzle you, but it will steady you. And sometimes, that is worth more than flavor. If you want boldness, go elsewhere. If you want a meal that lowers the volume of your day - come here. I was traveling from Sac and asked my GPS what restaurants were ahead. One of the choices was this Flying Boat Restaurant. GPS said it was a Chinese restaurant, though not a Chineasy name for a restaurant. What the heck, I told the GPS to go there. We got to the place and it's a little scary from the outside, a stand alone building that might not have very good food. We're here , so we go in. Seated at a decent table. It's not really THAT bad inside ... been in worse Mexican restaurant where I thought I really WAS in Mexico! We ordered a couple of the lunch specials, I didn't see anything too exotic on the menu, nor would I expect that here in this little town in the middle of nowhere off the freeway. We got broccoli beef and general chicken lunches. OK, the food was better than I was expecting, decent versions of each. I'd come back here again. Just a place to get something in the tummy and get back on the road again.
